  We are developing a project that has 3 enviroments (development, test, production) So there are 3 databases (actually more than 3, because we have 5 customers so we have more than 10 databases) and they must be synchronised. There are 30 coders working for this project. Everone adds, deletes, and changes procedures, table columns etc. We need a program to store our database scripts like visual studio's team foundation server. See the change history of script file. Everyone must access that program and be able to put their scripts. Recover previous versions of script file. Execute these scripts over a selected database. Compare databases by procedures (not only by name, by content of procedure), functions, table columns, packages etc. I am searching a program like that. Which one do you suggest me?

  Hi, iam using facebook connect in my site, and i want to know how do i use the graph api for authenticating the user. I followed these steps: 1) Initially i sent a request for "code", by clicking on the facebook icon in my site: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize? client_id=xxx&redirect_uri=http://xxxxxxxx 2) And then after getting a code, i sent a request for "access token", by clicking on another link in my site: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token? client_id=xxx&redirect_uri=http://xxxxxxx&client_secret=xxxx&code=xxxxx 3) And after i got the token, i sent another request for getting user data, by clicking on yet another link: https://graph.facebook.com/me?access_token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Then finally i got the user data in array format, which i need to parse for my required data like user's firstname, email, etc. Now my question is that how i can automate this process with just one click ? Right now, iam using 3 different links for sending those requests. Can anyone suggest a solution ?

  Hi All, I need to compare different data objects. Can any one tell me how can i do this. I don't know what are the data types i will get priorly. If i need to use any util from apache commons then please give reference to it. At present I am using .equals() for comparing equality of objects .It is working fine when I am comparing quality for two strings. • Python - which multi platform GUI framework to use?

  Hi, I've written a Python GUI application and made it run on Linux, Windows and Mac. The framework I'm using is PyGtk. The final result is not really good: the application looks horrible on Mac, and it is not really 'native' neither on Windows. Furthermore on Mac the windows' behavior is sometimes wrong, with modal dialogs appearing below the main windows. I've explored other frameworks and I've found that a porting may be really hard: PyQt it is huge, difficult to install and to distribute under Mac; PyGui is poor: I need tables and tree views at least; wxPython state explicitly that you have to use a custom python build for Mac Tkinter: didn't check it, only have the impression that it is obsolete I know this question may appear similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/394039/which-python-gui-framework but in that thread the portability issue is not really taken in account. Windows and Mac are a must, since most of my user have that systems. Can you also suggest some books?

  Hai, I wrote the coding for add / remove the default documents of IIS7 in vb.net 2.0 windows application using Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll. The coding is working fine. After adding a new document, the messagebox showing that newly added document name. Simillarly if I remove any document, the messagebox not showing that document name. So that I am saying, the coding is working fine. Now the problem is, I can't see the newly added document name in II7 Manager GUI. The next proplem is, my website not access that newly added document. Please can any body suggest for these problems. What the mistake I did the vb.net 2.0 windows application coding and what are the modifications I need to do? Thanks in advance.

  I've moved my app from a dedicated server to azure (and sql azure), and have noticed substantial performance degradation. obviously not having the database and web server on the same piece of hardware is much of it, but I'm curious what other people have found in migrating to azure, and if there is anything any of you would suggest I do to improve it. Right now I'm considering moving back to my dedicated server... So in summary, are there any rules of thumb for this, existing research (wasn't able to find much) or other pieces of advice on improving the performance of the app? has anyone else found the same to be true, and improved their site's performance in some way? it's built in C# on asp.net mvc 2. • How to build a Video Broadcaster, which can handle more than 20,000 viewers

  I want to broadcast Video from a web cam, over internet. The problem is, the Video will be viewed live by more than 20,000 people (expected). I have a very little experience with Red5 Broadcasting. I did some broadcasting using Red5 and Flash. It works fine for 1 or 2 viewers i.e. it is great for personal chatting/ video conferencing applications. But, when the number of viewers increases, the delay in Broadcasting also increases. I am experiencing a Delay addition of about 0.5 Seconds for every new user who joins the broadcast. Can any one suggest me some, better technologies on which I can work out this Live Broadcasting. I don't want to use http://www.ustream.com; I want to create one of my own, such tool. But thats always the last solution.

• Getting progress status out of a class library method

  This app that I am doing uses a class library (if I dare call it that) to do the bulk of the work: 2 main methods in there (DoWork and UndoWork) use the other classes to achieve thier goal. Now that that works, I want to get out of the Console test enviroment and do a GUI. How would I get the status of say, the DoWork() method to update a progress bar? Should I multilate the class library (which currently works with the Console and Windows.Forms) to update? The problem with that is that I would surely have to make the class library use Window.Forms which will mess up the console testing apps (And there are lots of them - I tested all the way through, and then all together). Could you suggest some ideas, or places I can read up about ideas (the whole point of writing this this program is to learn, afer all)? Oh, by the way, suggestions like "foresight" or "planning" probably won't help here...(now, anywyay!) - But certainly will in future projects!

  Hi, I need to give one client the ability to convert some videos to f4v h264 before loading it up to an AIR app. I normally doing with the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 but that only ships with adobe products (you can't download it as a free standalone app - which, start rant is odd, you'd think they would push the format - Microsoft's competing expresssion encoder is free end rant) Anyway, I need to get a (hopefully not too expensive, but willing to pay for it) good 3rd part app that can take any video and convert it to an f4v. Can you suggest any? Everything i've found is horrible or jammed with ads and crap. What would you use? Any suggestion? (please don't just say ffmpeg - I know it can do it but we need to good simple GUI) Thanks!

I will described my case study that I have simplified like these: My Server Socket will always listen client socket. While some request message come from the client socket, the server emulator will response the client through the socket. the response is response code. '00' will describe request message processed successfully, and another response code expect '00' will describe there are some error while processing the message request. IN the server there are some UI, this UI contain check response parameter such as. response code timeout interval While the server want to response the client message, the response code taken from input parameter response form UI check the timeout interval, it will create sleep thread and the interval taken from timeout interval input from UI. I have implement the function, but I create it in one class. I feel it so sucks. Can you suggest me what class / interface that I must create to refactor my code.

• Single Large v/s Multiple Small MySQL tables for storing Options

  Hi there, I'm aware of several question on this forum relating to this. But I'm not talking about splitting tables for the same entity (like user for example) Suppose I have a huge options table that stores list options like Gender, Marital Status, and many more domain specific groups with same structure. I plan to capture in a OPTIONS table. Another simple option is to have the field set as ENUM, but there are disadvantages of that as well. http://www.brandonsavage.net/why-you-should-replace-enum-with-something-else/ OPTIONS Table: option_id <will be referred instead of the name> name value group Query: select .. from options where group = '15' - Since this table is expected to be multi-tenant, the no of rows could grow drastically. - I believe splitting the tables instead of finding by the group would be easier to write & faster to execute. - or perhaps partitioning by the group or tenant? [ And it is never called in my case ] then : MyService service = new MyService(); MyServicePort port = service.getPortType(); now I try this: BindingProvider bindingProvider = (BindingProvider)port; bindingProvider.getBinding().getHandlerChain().add(new LoggingHandler()); I do not see any request / response xml though. Can you suggest any solution? Maybe there's other way to see output and request xml s ?

• Should I log my website's 404 errors?

  I have an ASP.NET website, but this question isn't really about technology, it is rather about practice. Should we log our 404 errors? My reasoning: This is a potential vulnerable point because a simple unfriendly user may fill up your hard drive in no time just by requesting wrong URLs! Some browsers often request resources up front - like for example favicon.ico, even if its not there. This is really annoying. But really I would like to know about a broken link if there exists one in my websites. Should I depend on the URL referrer? The problem with the URL referrer is that I cannot distinguish my internal redirect which may be broken with an unfriendly one from outside. What does the practice suggest?

  I've got this code in my viewController.m file - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; GameLogic *_game = [[GameLogic alloc] init]; [_game initGame]; ....... } GameLogic is another class which I created. in the same viewController.m file, I have got another function - (void)test { if([_game returnElecFence]) { NSLog(@"YES"); } else { NSLog(@"NO"); } } Problem is, whenever the test function is called, I get an error saying '_game' undeclared. I tried putting the GameLogic init code in the .h file and on top of the @implementation to make it global but every method I tried resulted in a worse error. After searching, after I found out that a thousands times connections have been opened but I can't manually go to each and every code fragment and check for connection close thing. • What is the fastest way to learn JPA ?

  I'm looking for the best resources (books, frameworks, tutorials) that will help me get up to speed with JPA. I've been happily using iBatis/JDBC for my persistence needs, so I need resources that will hopefully provide comparable functions on how to do things. e.g. how to I set the isolation level for each transaction ? I know there might be 10 books on the topic, so hopefully, your recommendation could narrow down to the best 2 books. Should I start with OpenJPA or are there other opensource JPA frameworks to use ? • iPhone StoreKit development: Can't create a test user?

  I'm trying to get up to speed on how to develop an in-app store using the new 3.0 SDK... but I'm a bit stuck in that I don't seem to be able to create a test account. The iTunes Connect FAQ states "To create test users for your sandbox environment, go to the Manage Users section of iTunes Connect and select In App Purchase Test User. Your test users will not have iTunes Connect access. They will just have access to the sandbox environment." ...but when I go to that Manage Users section, there's no mention of any sort of "In App Purschase Test User" or how to make one. Did I miss doing something to enable that? There is another section of that same FAQ that seems to suggest I need to have a paid app in the store first? Is that the reason I can't even use the test environment?

  We have several applications that are installed in several departments that interact with database via Intranet. Users tend to use weak passwords or store login/password written on a shits of paper where everybody can see them. I'm worried about login/password leakage & want to minimize consequences. Minimizing database-server attack surface by hiding database-server from Intranet access would be a great idea also. I'm thinking about intermediary data access service method-based security. It seems more flexible than table-based or connection-based database-server one. This approach also allows to hide database-server from public Intranet. What kind of .net technologies and best practices would you suggest? Thank in you in advance!
