I drag and dropped the master page and the views (4 nos) into the master page. now i need to drop scriptmanager.. where should i need to drag and drop this? inside the multiview outside the multiview inside view? if show which view ? view 1 ? view 2? view 3? view 4? What actually the script manager do ?

• Screen scrape a web page that uses javaScript and frames

  Hi, I want to scrape data from www.marktplaats.nl . I want to analyze the scraped description, price, date and views in Excel/Access. I tried to scrape data with Ruby (nokogiri, scrapi) but nothing worked. (on other sites it worked well) The main problem is that for example selectorgadget and the add-on firebug (Firefox) don’t find any css I can use to scrape the page. On other sites I can extract the css with selectorgadget or firebug and use it with nokogiri or scrapi. Due to lack of experience it is difficult to identify the problem and therefore searching for a solution isn’t easy. Can you tell me where to start solving this problem and where I maybe can find more info about a similar scraping process? Thanks in advance!

• Inserting Large volume of data in SQL Server 2005

  We have a application (written in c#) to store live stock market price in the database (SQL Server 2005). It insert about 1 Million record in a single day. Now we are adding some more segment of market into it and the no of records would be double (2 Millions/day). Currently the average record insertion per second is about 50, maximum is 450 and minimum is 0. To check certain conditions i have used service broker (asynchronous trigger) on my price table. It is running fine at this time(about 35% CPU utilization). Now i am planning to create a in memory dataset of current stock price. we would like to do some simple calculations. I want to know different views of members on this. Please provide your way of dealing with such situation.

• iPhone: UITableView Becomes Invisible after Changing the Data it Displays

  Hi I have application with a TabBar that controls several views. In one view, I control connections to different servers. Each server provides a different set of items. I display these items in UITableView on another view. The problem is that the tableview displays OK the first time but if I go back to view number one and change the server, thereby changing the list of items that should be displayed in tableview, the tableview becomes invisible for some reason. If I tap on the screen in the place where it should be, it becomes visible again. I create table view like this UITableView * aTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(X,Y,Width,Height) style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; [[self view] addSubview:aTableView]; aTableView.dataSource = self; Ive tried to call reloadData and setNeedsDisplay in viewWillAppear of the UIViewController that hosts this tableview but without success. • Using Yii framework, what would be a right way to process an attribute before displaying it using CH

  Say I have this line of code in the view. <?php echo CHtml::activeTextField($model,'start_time'); ?> start_time is a UNIX timestamp. When just displaying it in a view I can apply functions like date() on it. Where should I apply the formatting when I'm displaying it in a form, by using the above line of code? (This case of timestamps/dates might be special, but I'm also interested in how would one go about if it wasn't a date and I just want to work with "value in database" < "different representations of the value in different views. Thanks =)

• FTP in NetBeans 6.1

  Is there an FTP browser hiding away in NetBeans 6.1? The help manual doesn't even suggest FTP exists. All I've been able to find so far is a tree viewer in the Services panel (no edit controls) and the ability to upload projects, folders and specific files from the Projects/Files views. Is there anywhere to delete or rename or will I have to keep switching back to my browser? I can see from the previews that there's a nice FTP controller in 6.5 but I'm not desperate enough to completely convert to a beta (yet).

• Android ScrollView jumps around when setting child visibility to View.GONE

  I have a ScrollView that contains an number of other views (TextViews, ImageViews, etc.). The ScrollView is taller than the screen. I have an AsyncTask that updates the children of the ScrollView based on an http response. I've discovered an interesting behavior that I can't figure out how to work around. If I set any of the children's visibilities to View.INVISIBLE as part of the AsyncTask.onPostExecute(), everything works fine. However, if I set any of the children's visibilities to View.GONE, the ScrollView jumps down from the top when onPostExecute() is called. Exactly how far seems to vary. I'm guessing that re-laying out the ScrollView is causing it to scroll away from the top for some reason. So the question is: is there a way to either prevent or work around this behavior? PS. Using ScrollView.jump(FOCUS_UP) as a workaround isn't ideal since that'll force the user to the top even if they had intended to scroll down.

  I've looked at a few sites now, and I'm still struggling to find a complete listing of all the possible layers/tiers you can have in an application. From back in college (1999) I remember the following: Presentation Layer (Views) Application Layer (Controllers) Business Logic Layer (API/Rules) Persistence Layer (Database/Object Persistence/Model) I'm not advocating that they all be used...especially when you consider that too many layers/tiers could lead to an increase in complexity...I just wondered what the complete list might look like... Based on a couple of blogs I've found several different answers...and Javascript and client side technologies seem to have leaked in adding more client-side layers according to one blog the client side tier might even consist of Behavior Layer (Javascript, Flash) Presentation Layer (CSS/Images) Note: I though the entire client side layer was the presentation layer Structure Layer (XHTML, HTML) I'm just trying to get an abstract idea of what all the possible layers might be, (even though some people call them different things)

• Is there an equivalence to CDOSYS AutoGenerateTextBody in .NET

  I'm porting some VBScript code which generates emails using the standard CDOSYS Message object. The Message oject has a property AutoGenerateTextBody which when true will cause it to automatically create the TextBody property value when you assign HTML to the HTMLBody property. Hence creating the typical text/plain and text/html alternatives in the message body. However .NET appears to be missing this function. The MailMessage object does have the ability to create alternative views but there doesn't appear to be a way to easily create the text body content from the HTML content. I'm not necessarily looking for an auto-magic option but I do need a solution to taking what is an HTML string and converting it to a reasonable plain text representation. Just dropping all the HTML markup doesn't cut it. Is there a tool buried somewhere in the existing .NET framework that can do this?

  Hello I have a rails application where I have to subtract 2 time stamps and display the result on the webpage I have used the following sql statement and I am getting the results. select (julianday(resolutions.created_at)-julianday(tickets.created_at))*24 from tickets,resolutions the value of tickets.created_at is 2010-04-05 18:59:02 which is a time stamp and value of resolutions.created_at is 2010-04-08 08:10:33 Now where do I put this sql so that I can be seen in my webpage. I tired it in the views page with the following but nothing showed up: <% @sql = "select (julianday(resolutions.created_at)-julianday(tickets.created_at))*24 from tickets,resolutions" %> <% @t=(ActiveRecord::Base.connection.execute(@sql)) %> So how do I display it on my webpage? when I perform the above I get the output printed on the webpage as 061.1919444389641(julianday(resolutions.created_at)-julianday(tickets.created_at))*2461.1919444389641 only 61.1919444389641 is supposed to be printed but the query statement is also getting printed.

• UIAlertView crashing on undocumented method

  Our app has been crashing with a frequency of roughly 1 in 1,500 launches due to a bug that is proving elusive. The relevant portion of the stack trace is included. It's being fired as a callback so I have no reference for where it's occurring in my own code. It looks like what's going on is there is a UIViewAnimationState object that is calling UIAlertView's private method (_popoutAnimationDidStop:finished:). Only problem is, it appears the UIAlertView has been dealloced by this point. I don't do anything weird with alert views. I throw them up, and I wait for user input. They are all shown before being released. Anyone encountered this? At this point, I'm leaning toward it being an Apple bug. • Get correct output from UTF-8 stored in VarChar using Entity Framework or Linq2SQL?

  Borland StarTeam seems to store its data as UTF-8 encoded data in VarChar fields. I have an ASP.NET MVC site that returns some custom HTML reports using the StarTeam database, and I would like to find a better solution for getting the correct data, for a rewrite with MVC2. I tried a few things with Encoding GetBytes and GetString, but I couldn't get it to work (we use mostly Delphi at work); then I figured out a T-SQL function to return a NVarChar from UTF-8 stored in a VarChar, and created new SQL views which return the data as NVarChar, but it's slow. The actual problem appears like this: “description†instead of “description”, in both SSMS and in a webpage when using Linq2SQL Is there a way to get the proper data out of these fields using Entity Framework or Linq2SQL?

• Unable to forward UITouch events to my view controller

  I have a UISplitViewController setup with a custom view added as a subview of the view (UILayoutContainerView) of split view controller. I am trying to forward touch events from my custom view controller to the master and detail views, but the following (which was suggested here on another thread) seems to have no effect: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; // Do something [self.nextResponder touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } (I couldn't get this formatted properly) As a result my custom view controller locks the events and all the UI underneath never has a chance to do anything. How can I get my master and detail view controllers to receive events?

• How to handle data output in an Observer?

  I have an Observable and an Observer. The observable does download some stuff in a background thread and calls notifyObservers to let the observers read the status. At some point in public void update the observer tries to updates the GUI ((TextView)findViewById('R.id.foo')).setText("bar"); but it seems like the observable thread calls this method, because the Observable (!!!) throws this: android.view.ViewRoot$CalledFromWrongThreadException: Only the original thread that created a view hierarchy can touch its views. at android.view.ViewRoot.checkThread(ViewRoot.java:2462) at android.view.ViewRoot.requestLayout(ViewRoot.java:512) ... at com.mynamespace.acitivty.TrackActivity.startPlay(TrackActivity.java:72) at com.mynamespace.acitivty.TrackActivity.update(TrackActivity.java:107) at java.util.Observable.notifyObservers(Observable.java:147) at java.util.Observable.notifyObservers(Observable.java:128) at com.mynamespace.module.communication.Download.stateChanged(Download.java:213) at com.mynamespace.module.communication.Download.run(Download.java:186) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:1058) Is there some way I can prevent this from happening?   Hi, I'm working on a database upgrader application. The upgrader updates the schema of a database ( adds new columns, renames columns , adds new tables, new views to an existing database by executing SQL statements ). When a user wants to upgrade from version 1.0 to 2.0 , "Upgrader" objects are taken from an object factory and the "Execute" method of each "Upgrader" is called. The GUI of the application has a progress bar and each time an upgrader object performs a SQL statement the progress bar gets incremented. while (!version.Equal(CurrentVersion)) { IUpgrader myUpgrader = UpgraderFactory.GetUpgrader(version); myUpgrader.Execute(UpgradedFile,progressbar); version.Increment(); } My question is very simple : how should the upgrader object communicate with the progressbar. In the code above, the upgrader object is given direct access to the progressbar but I'm wondering if some better way of doing this or better design pattern exists. Regards, Seb

• Drawing the UIPicker values from multiple components?

  I have the UIPicker setup with multiple components and a button below it. Depending on what the user has chosen with the UIPicker determines which new view will be loaded but I am having trouble determining how to extrapolate the information from the picker itself. Right now I have this method being called when the button is pressed: - (IBAction) buttonPressed { if (component:1 == 1 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 1. } else if (component:1 == 2 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 2. } else { //Load the view number 3. } } I obviously know that my code is wrong but I hope it gets the point across. I have multiple components and I need to figure out how to use the information that the user is scrolling to on the picker to determine which view to move to. (I know how to load the views, I just commented those in the code to illuminate the problem areas better.)

  I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IEnumerable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. When I'm only displaying a single record, as in a Details view, I use ViewData.ModelMetadata.Properties to obtain the list of properties for a given model. But what happens when the model I pass to the view is a collection of model or view-model objects and not a model or view-model itself? How do I obtain the ModelMetadata for a particular item in a collection?

  About three hours ago I started seeing the above error in my production server. It comes from a call to the sanitize gem: vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:276:in 'load_missing_constant' vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:468:in `const_missing' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:91:in `clean!' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:84:in `clean' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:49:in `clean' app/helpers/application_helper.rb:28:in `display_none' app/views/main/_blogs.html.erb:13:in `_run_erb_47app47views47main47_blogs46html46erb' The error only occurs on the production server (linux), not my development machine (windows) I tried rolling back my latest deployment but it didn't fix it. I've updated to sanitize 1.2.0 (which was the latest version brought down by gem update sanitize, though I note my host is running 1.3.6. Can anyone provide any clues to help fix this?

  I am trying to create a message-board type element in a CakePHP app. This element will be displayed on all pages and views that use a particular layout. I want it to display all the messages in the model, then show the add form when a link is clicked, then return to the updated message list when submitted. All this without affecting the current view/page. I have my message model/controller/index set up, with a message board element that requests the index action. This works fine. However I am perplexed about how to return back to the original page/action from which the link was clicked. I can't use $this-referer() because that will link back to the add() action; what I want rather is to link to the page/view before that. Any general pointers on how to achieve something like this?

  I have a complex custom view - photo collage. What is observed is whenever any UI interaction happens, the view is redrawn. How can I avoid complete redrawing (for example, use a cached UI) of the view specially when I click the "back" button to go back to previous activity because that also causes redrawing of the view. While exploring the API and web, I found a method - getDrawingCache() - but don't know how to use it effectively. How do I use it effectively? I've had other issues with Custom Views that I outline here.

  I have managed to do pretty complex things on iPhone but I am always stuck with views, frames, bounds, and simple stuff that defies any logic and don't work as expected. I have a self.view in my code and it has a lot of subviews on it. At some point of the code, I need to reduce the frame vertically to a specific size and later put it back as before. Then I have this code: [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.5]; // frame is changing to a newHeight (other parameters are the same as before) self.view.frame = CGRectMake (0, 0, originalWidth, newHeight); [UIView commitAnimations]; The result is simply, nothing. The view continues as before. The same size, the same position. No change. Why this kind of thing happens? how to solve that?

• ipad dev - in the UISplitViewController template, how is the method setDetailItem called?

  I am developing an ipad app which has a UISplitViewController. (I use IB to build the interface, but I do not use the template) Both master and detail (left and right) views are navigationController. The left view subclass UITableView and the right view should push another controller if the cell on the left is selected. I don't know how to make my detail view responds to my master view. Also, in the template, the detailViewController has a id detailItem and a method setDetailItem. How are these two connected? I cannot see any connection between but setDetailItem is called when detailViewController.detailItem is being called. Thanks in advance.
