  My favorite cell phone maker Moto is closing it doors in India. Plan is to  have their service shops open. If you still want to grab the last living decendent of the phone in India there is good news “would continue to sell its phones till stocks are exhausted while service centers would continue to function”. Ya !  lock up in your safe, wait 20 years, then sell this antique for a fortune. There is will be staff cut and Moto promised to help employees at these difficult times. India is one of the most sort out market for mobile makers, what is running in Googles mind ? May be world is falling apart like Mayans predicted ?

• Not able to suspend or hibernate

  My Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop Lenovo T400 is not able to suspend or hibernate. Whenever I click Suspend or Hibernate, the moon LED on the bottom of the lid flashes a few seconds, the screen quickly shows something like "some devices fail to suspend, error 5", and then the moon LED goes off and the display still has ambient light illumination. I suppose in suspend or hibernation state, the display should have no illumination, just like when the laptop is turned off, right? If I press any key, the unlock screen dialogue will pop out. I searched a little on the internet, and installed 'acpi-support' according to some advice but it does not help. Any suggestions to solve this problem? Thanks and regards!   I have a 20 GB NTFS volume that I was planning on using for a variety of purposes, including being readable by windows with little effort. Unfortunately, for some reason, I cannot execute any files on the drive, even after following the answer here (I was able to mount the volume just fine, but the error persists). How can I fix this? • Solving 2D Collision Detection Issues with Relative Velocities

  Imagine you have a situation where two objects are moving parallel to one-another and are both within range to collide with a static wall, like this: A common method used in dynamic collision detection is to loop through all objects in arbitrary order, solve for pair-wise collision detection using relative velocities, and then move the object to the nearest collision, if any. However, in this case, if the red object is checked first against the blue one, it would see that the relative velocity to the blue object is -20 m/s (and would thereby not collide this time frame). Then it would see that the red object would collide with the static wall, and the solution would be: And the red object passes through the blue one. So it appears to be a matter of choosing the right order in which you check collisions; but how can you determine which order is correct? How can this passing through of objects be avoided? Is ignoring relative velocity and considering every object as static during pair-wise checks a better idea for this reason?

  I have the following table in my Dashboard: Page path level 1 Visits Goal Completions ----------------- ------ ---------------- /sub1/ 994 1,295 / 102 3 /sub2/ 10 1 I know my conversion rate is 10-20%, and that actually in this period I only had 183 goal completions under /sub1/. My goal is set as a regular expression for a particular page (/success?.*), and I have a funnel set up which tracks the page before the goal (/action). The actual urls hit would be /sub1/action then /sub1/success?1234 and /sub2/action then /sub2/success?1234. Why is my table in my dashboard giving me wildly wrong numbers? Have I done something wrong?

My laptp is 6730s compaq . Ther is 4 partitions : 1: where the OS is. NTFS 2: data file. NTFS 3: Empty 20 G space . EXT 3 4: SWAP linux.

At this point it says: No such file `modules-2.6.31-20-server-amd64.tar.bz2' zip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover data from undamaged sections of corrupted files. tar: Child returned status 2 tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors Module installation failed.   how does one make a shortcut for firefox ( like any other application that has an icon) that has a command firefox 24 run from terminal. Reason i had to uninstall previous version ( 20 ) of firefox was because it was crashing often. This version ( 24 ) is stable ( and looks like it will continue to be so ). I am at present running from terminal firefox 24. Need that I make an icon which opens it and most important overlay menu ( like in mac) which is not happening at present.   First, I'm sorry because I know this question has been asked many times but I'm still looking forward to finding the answer to my problem. I'd want to implement a Real-time chat for my Rails app but I can't really host the server which handles the sockets. I've tried Faye but it needs a server. I've also heard of pusher but it's limited to 20 users at a time on the chat and I can't really be sure they won't be more. I've thought of irc but I think I can't really embed it into a rails app, maybe it needs sockets... So here's my problem, can I implement a real-time chat without owning a server ? What can you advice me ? Thank you for your answers.

  Moved from Home to work and went to fire up my project and after long pause "The provider did not return a ProviderManifestToken string" or even More Abscure ProviderIncompatable Exception Now after 20 mins of chasing my tail re different ver of EntityFramework 4.1 vs 4.2...blahblahblah Look inside at the inner exception A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible DOH!!!! Or a clean translation is that it cant find SQL or is offline or not running. SO check the power is on/Service running or as in my case Edit web.config & change back to Work SQL box   Hope you dont have this pain as the default errors @ the moment suck balls in the EntityFramework 4.XX releases   Cheers

• How can I receive more traffic? My VPS fails!!!

  I have a web site - photo gallery. About 400 photos. Site on Gallery 3. mySQL. Hosted on VPS from myhosting.com (CPU 1792 MHz, 2048 MB RAM). Everything seems to be ok, but there is one big problem. Once traffic reaches ~ 20 people (online) - website start loading really really slow. Actually website can't be loaded about 30-60 sec. What should I do? Buy more RAM / CPU on the same VPS? Move to a dedicated server or maybe myhosting.com just sucks? What do you recommend?

• Problem installing from Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 32bit cd

  Older laptop currently running xp, only 128mb ram too. Is 128 just too small? But, 20+ gigs free hard drive and it's been defragmented. When I try to install Ubuntu from a CD I get the screen that says ubuntu and has the four red dots and then eventually goes blank and I just hear hard drive noises. Stays this way indefinitely (shut it off after half a day). Burned another cd, at slow writing speed too, and dl is from Ubuntu and get same result. Any help much appreciated!

• If Ubuntu freezes when running off a USB drive, will it freeze after full installation?

  I'm planning to install Ubuntu on an aging Compaq Presario V5000. I've established that the Unity desktop is not suited to this laptop, and am now using the standard (Gnome?) desktop. I'm grappling with ndiswrapper and my wireless chipset. But I'm still running it off a USB drive before I take the plunge and install properly to my internal HD. Part of my reticence in completing the installation is I'm experience freezes after about 10-20 minutes usage. Is this likely to be in any way related to running it off the USB drive?

Now suddenly from last two days it reduced the amount of traffic from 70% to 20% and also when I am trying to search for the exact posts that I can created even after appending my website name to it does not show any results for that. Sample Search Text: JQuery Game Programming Creating A Ping Pong Game Part 1 I have post with exact same title and it does not show it on Google search anywhere. I am totally shocked, I write my own unique content and follow Google guide lines like bible. Also there is no message under my webmasters account stating any problem or error.

• Remote connection problem.

  Hello I have ubuntu 10.04 installed with mysql on it and I have a problem with remote connection. When I connect through putty it works but sometimes it looks like it hangs for example when I execute the command ln --help. Also with MySQL connection When I execute a simple query like show processlist; it works, but for example select * from table not always, if the table doesn't have many rows it works but if it has let's say more than 20 the query looks like it keeps working and never ends. It's connected but I can't do many things remotely. Added: I connect using putty from other windows pc, server is not overloaded. when i work at the same time directly on ubuntu i can do everything. Remotely not.

  I've been a solo .NET programmer for a small startup for the last 8 years. I've put together some pretty decent software, and I always strived to better myself and conform to best practices, including source control (SVN/TFS). I worked very closely with a team of engineers of other disciplines, but when it came down to the software I was the only one programming. I love the craft of programming and love learning new things to sharpen my tools. In 2 weeks I will be starting a new job in a team of 20 .NET developers. My position will be mid-level, and I will be working under some programmers with incredibly impressive backgrounds. Again, the team aspect of development will be new to me, so I'm looking for some general "new guy" tips that will help me be as effective and easy to get along with as possible from the get-go. Anything goes, including high level tips, and small day-to-day things about communication.

• F# &ndash; It&rsquo;s time to grow up baby.

  In the last few months since I started learning F# I have begin to notice an increase in the number of people blogging about the language. Sure, it could just be that I am noticing it more because I am actively looking out for questions and blog posts, but even in my day to day reading of Code Project Daily News and Stack Overflow questions there seems to be increased activity around the language. So what sparked this post? Well, today today I logged in and saw that the latest podcast by DNR was on F# and then immediately afterwards I received an email from CodeProject with a great article comparing F# and Scala. Currently, as of this blog posting (21 May 2010) F# is ranked on the tiobe site at position 43, but I am willing to put money on it that in the next few tiobe ratings this ranking will continue to rise till F# will be a top 20.
