• How to setup a project to use TweetSharp

  I am trying to follow Pete Brown's introductory WPF tutorial which makes use of the TweetSharp libraries to interact with Twitter. I have downloaded what appears to be the latest TweetSharp binaries (and a few others including the ReleaseCandidate) from Codeplex (http://tweetsharp.codeplex.com/). No matter what references I add and no matter what using statements I try, I cannot create a reference to the TwitterService for the FluentTwitter class. I simply get the compiler error - "The type or namespace cannot be found". Now I've noticed that the TweetSharp.dll that Pete references is 518KB but the one contained in each of my different downloads is only 84kb. (I've tried several times - I am getting the full download here). The link from Pete's article to the TweetSharp libraries, no longer works (http://code.google.com/p/tweetsharp/). What basic element am I missing here or what could I be doing wrong?

• Can you authenticate into SSAS with AD LDS (ADAM) accounts?

  I'm very new to AD LDS and experienced but not qualified with SSAS, so my apologies for my ignorances with these. We have a couple implementations where we expose SSAS via an HTTPS proxy (msmdpump.dll) and currently we have a temporary domain setup handling this (where our end-users have a second account+creds to manage because of this = non-ideal). I want to move us towards a more permanent solution which I'm thinking of moving all authentication to AD LDS for our web apps, SSAS, and others. However, SSAS is where I'm concerned about this. I know SSAS requires Windows Authentication and to play nicely, and that this ultimately means Active Directory will be involved. Is there a way to get this done with AD LDS instead of having to use a full AD DS implementation? If so, how?

  I'm trying to use xUnit.net as the test runner for SpecFlow. The SpecFlow 1.2 binaries from the official download area don't contain an xUnit.net provider but the master branch on GitHub has one, so I build SpecFlow.Core.dll from that. I'm using xUnit.net 1.5. However, when I change the unitTestProvider name in the app.config in my spec project, I get a null reference custom tool error and the generated .feature.cs file is the single line: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Has anyone succeeded in getting SpecFlow to work with xUnit.net? If so, how?

• Help installing Zorba (XQUERY) PHP Extension on windows

  Hi, I'm trying to install zorba php extension on windows and I am having all sorts of problems. I have installed the zorba binaries on my computer, but when I try to install the PECL package (pecl install zorba-alpha) I get the following error "ERROR: the DSP zorba.dsp does not exist". I've tried searching for zorba_api.dll or zorba_api.so in order to just bypass the pecl install process, but no luck. If anyone can tell me how to get the zorba extension installed on my windows php I will be eternally grateful. Alternately, if someone knows of another xquery solution for PHP that I can install, I will be equally excited and appreciative. Thank you! Davey

• VS2010 - Add template to New Project window

  I am trying to add a new project template for an often used pattern. Starting from the class library template I have done the following (it still does not show up in the new project window): opened the .vstemplate file changed name and description to 'hard coded' values (my template). The values in there pulled from the csharpui.dll resources. changed the TemplateID, DefaultName, and ProjectItems included. saved these to the ProjectemplatesCache folder and as a zip in the ProjectTemplates folder. restarted VS2010 and checked the new project location which should have shown my new template. specifically, the folders I saved to were.. C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache\CSharp\Windows\1033\HostComm.zip (the zip is the folder name, not a zip file) and C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Windows\1033 (this folder has a HostComm.zip file in it) Has anyone else done this? Can it be done? If it can then what did I miss?

• .net 4.0 with Code Access Security NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy won't work

  Hi- I'm trying to use an external library DevExpress.XtraTreeList.v8.1.dll in my vsto office addin built using VS2010 beta 2. I am getting the following compile time error: DevExpress.Utils.AppareanceObject threw an exception -- System.NotSupportedException. The error message goes on to say that for compatibility reasons I can use the NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy switch. I've tried putting this config variable in all of the following locations: 1) my applications config file. 2) C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006\msbuild.exe.config 3) C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\dev.exe.config None of these have resolved the problem. Here were the references I've used. re-enable cas msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee191568(VS.100).aspx How do I get rid of this error so I can build the application in vs 2010?

• Boost.Thread throws bad_alloc exception in VS2010

  Upon including <boost/thread.hpp> I get this exception: First-chance exception at 0x7c812afb in CSF.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: boost::exception_detail::clone_impl<boost::exception_detail::bad_alloc_> at memory location 0x0012fc3c.. First-chance exception at 0x7c812afb in CSF.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: [rethrow] at memory location 0x00000000.. I can't catch it, breaking at the memory location brings me to kernel32.dll and at this point I cannot say what's going on but it appears that the exception is thrown after the program ends and VS is capable of catching it.   When using PostSharp with a Referenced Assembly with proper PDB info( checked with chkmatch), it seems strange that the debug info gets lost by VStudio build and post compile process and I get the following error by using chkmatch to compare the assembly after the vstudio build. Error: Debug information not found in the executable. So it doesn't step into for debugging into this assembly. Does Post Sharp properly writes back the Assemblies without destroying the PDB location offset info as I saw no valid offset info in the written back into DLL by PostSharp using Hex Editor and What's the workaround for this ? • How do you include additional files using VS2010 web deployment packages?

  I am testing out using the new web packaging functionality in visual studio 2010 and came across a situation where I use a pre-build event to copy required .dll's into my bin folder that my app relies on for API calls. They cannot be included as a reference since they are not COM dlls that can be used with interop. When I build my deployment package those files are excluded when I choose the option to only include the files required to run the app. Is there a way to configure the deployment settings to include these files? I have had no luck finding any good documentation on this.

  In case you don't know of Phoenix, it's a compiler framework from Microsoft that's apparantly going to be the foundation of all their new compilers. It can read in code from CIL, x86, x64, and IA64; and emit code in x86, x64, IA64, or CIL. Can I use it to transform a pure .Net app into a pure native app? By which I mean, it will not have to load any .Net .dll (not even mscoree), and will have the same semantics? This is excluding Reflection, of course.

• NoSuchPortException using RXTX Java library on Windows?

  I have followed the instructions to setup rxtx on windows from http://www.jcontrol.org/download/readme_rxtx_en.html. What I did exactly was copy rxtxSerial.dll to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\jre\bin" and copied RXTXcomm.jar to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\jre\lib\ext" (my JAVA_HOME variable is set to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\jre) I also added RXTXcomm.jar to my eclipse project. But when I run it, it still says "NoSuchPortException" Devel Library ========================================= Native lib Version = RXTX-2.0-7pre1 Java lib Version = RXTX-2.0-7pre1 java.lang.ClassCastException: gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver cannot be cast to gnu.io.CommDriver thrown while loading gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver gnu.io.NoSuchPortException at gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifier(CommPortIdentifier.java:218) at TwoWaySerialComm.connect(TwoWaySerialComm.java:20) at TwoWaySerialComm.main(TwoWaySerialComm.java:107) In my java file, I tell it: try { (new TwoWaySerialComm()).connect("COM4"); } and I've also tried the Java Comm API. • What can cause throughput to become really slow when an ISAPI filter implements SF_NOTIFY_SEND_RAW_D

  I have an ISAPI filter for IIS6 that I've been developing for a while, but I just noticed something disturbing. Anytime I have the filter installed and I download a file, the file download becomes really slow. From a remote machine I'm getting ~120kb per second without the filter installed, and ~45kb per second with the filter installed. This seems to be related to the SF_NOTIFY_SEND_RAW_DATA callback. Whenever I register for this callback, I get the slow downloads, when I don't register for it, everything is fine. Even if I make my HttpFilterProc function just return immediately, like this: DWORD WINAPI HttpFilterProc( PHTTP_FILTER_CONTEXT pfc, DWORD notificationType, LPVOID pvNotification ) { return SF_STATUS_REQ_NEXT_NOTIFICATION; } I've also tried returning SF_STATUS_REQ_HANDLED_NOTIFICATION with the same result. Is it possible that I have some build setting on my DLL that is causing a slow execution of the callback function, or is this just the way it's going to be with ISAPI?

• Boost Thread Hanging on _endthreadex

  I think I am making a simple mistake, but since I noticed there are many boost experts here, I thought I would ask for help. I am trying to use boost threads(1_40) on windows xp. What am I misunderstanding?

  This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run. • XAML Serialization object not using asp.net shadow copy

  Hi, I'm having a problem where i use the XAML serializer / deserializer for a configuration type file that i have. The problem that i'm getting, is that the XAML serializer is returning objects from the assembly in the /Bin directory, while the rest of the web application is using assembly's stored in the ..../Temporary Files/.. directory. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Is this a bug in the XAML serializer / assembly loading routines? Every time i compile i need to stop and start the asp.net application so the shadow copy and the bin are exactly the same file. Even when not making a change to the dll and recompiling still causes the problem. Any thoughts on how to get around this problem? Currently i've tried turning shadow copy off, but then i have the same problem of needing to shut down / start up the web app every time i compile. Help!

• How do I get the intellisense in FoxPro 8 to work with .net COM objects?

  Hi, I'm at my wit's end with this. What I'm doing is making a C# dll file that needs to have some methods exposed to FoxPro 8. This guy here http://www.west-wind.com/presentations/VfpDotNetInterop/DotNetFromVFP.asp says that you can put [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.AutoDual)] in front of the (C# in my case) class, and then intellisense in Foxpro magically works. I'm accessing the COM object fine in FoxPro, but unfortunately the intellisense doesn't work, and it's annoying me. Is there some other step I'm missing to this? Is there some registry entry to look for to confirm that the methods are exposed properly (for intellisense to work)? Are there other steps in Foxpro that I'm supposed to follow (I don't know a thing about FoxPro!) It might be a pretty obscure question these days, but someone on here must know the answer! Thanks

  I cannot get the example Python programs to run. When executing the Python command "from opencv import cv" I get the message "ImportError: No module named _cv". There is a stale _cv.pyd in the site-packages directory, but no _cv.py anywhere. See step 5 below. MS Windows XP, VC++ 2008, Python 2.6, OpenCV 2.0 Here's what I have done. Downloaded and ran the MS Windows installer for OpenCV2.0. Downloaded and installed CMake Downloaded and installed SWIG Ran CMake. After unchecking "ENABLE_OPENMP" in the CMake GUI, I was able to build OpenCV using INSTALL.vcproj and BUILD_ALL.vcproj. I do not know what the difference is, so I built everything under both of those project files. The C example programs run fine. Copied contents of OpenCV2.0/Python2.6/lib/site-packages to my installed Python2.6/lib/site-packages directory. I notice that it contains an old _cv.pyd and an old libcv.dll.a.

  Hello, I want to build a static library (*.LIB file) GNU libiconv on windows to be used with other libraries in Visual C++. Other libraries I'm using are built with "MultiThreaded DLL" (/MD) Runtime option. So, I need to build libiconv with the same option. Problem is the libiconv uses GNU build system and I want to compile with /MD option. I am receiving from some dll (which is wrapper for some external data source) strings in Windows-1250 codepage and I would like to insert them correctly (as unicode) to table in SQL Server Database. Since particular row in database which should hold that data is of NVarchar type, I only needed to convert it in my C# code to unicode and pass it as parameter. Everything is well and nice, but I stumbled on conversion step. I tried the following but that doesn't work: private static String getUnicodeValue(string string2Encode) // { Encoding srcEncoding = Encoding.GetEncoding("Windows-1250"); UnicodeEncoding dstEncoding = new UnicodeEncoding(); byte[] srcBytes = srcEncoding.GetBytes(string2Encode); byte[] dstBytes = dstEncoding.GetBytes(string2Encode); return dstEncoding.GetString(dstBytes); } When I insert this returned string to table, I don't get correct letters like Ð, d, C, c, C or c.
