  I have a file called mybundle.txt in c:/temp - c:/temp/mybundle.txt how do I load this file into a java.util.resource bundle? The file is a valid resource bundle. • Options for storing large text blobs in/with an SQL database?

  Hi, I have some large volumes of text (log files) which may be very large (up to gigabytes). They are associated with entities which I'm storing in a database, and I'm trying to figure out whether I should store them within the SQL database, or in external files. It seems like in-database storage may be limited to 4GB for LONGTEXT fields in MySQL, and presumably other DBs have similar limits. Also, storing in the database presumably precludes any kind of seeking when viewing this data -- I'd have to load the full length of the data to render any part of it, right? So it seems like I'm leaning towards storing this data out-of-DB: are my misgivings about storing large blobs in the database valid, and if I'm going to store them out of the database then are there any frameworks/libraries to help with that? (I'm working in python but am interested in technologies in other languages too)

• [php + mysql] Save IP in database

  When a user logs inn I want to save their IP in the database. How would I do that? What type is best to use for the MySQL field? How would the PHP code to get IP look like? I'm thinking of using it as an extra security feature for the login/session stuff. I'm thinking of checking the IP the user logged in with from the DB with the IP the user have now as addition to checking the session. So that it first check the session, and then check if you have a valid IP. Is that an allright extra feature? And what other things can I do to make it more secure?

• How can I disable TinyMCE from stripping/modifying my HTML in Joomla?

  I've got a site running Joomla with TinyMCE set as the editor. One of the sites editors is now trying to embed a media player into an article but TinyMCE keeps messing up the HTML. I've tried setting the Extended Valid Elements, in the plugin config, to *[*] to allow anything and everything but it's not working. What I'd like is to disable the code stripping "feature" from TinyMCE all together. I don't want it trying to validate my HTML or anything like that. How can I disable the code stripping?

• Xcode automatically converts the object to NSArray

  I have been working on an app and during the development, I am facing a very strange problem. I have a NSMutableArray tempSortedArray, which is full of objects of Store types. All the objects are valid as I can see them in my GUI, the problem arises when I iterate through the array, at index 90, which can be generally anyone, the XCode converts the Store object to NSMutableArray object. Any idea, why this is happening. • RSpec: in-depth differences between before(:all) and before(:each)

  Ok, so I've ran into a very strange issue, directly connected with before blocks. I'm doing a integration testing via Watir and RSpec. For a simple test to check if user can perform a login I'm creating a 'user' record in the db by means of factory_girl. So I put the following code: before(:each) do @user = Factory(:user) end if "should perform a login" do # do stuff end In do stuff I call a browser and see how the user tries to login. Unfortunately, somehow he cannot do that — "Username isn't valid". After some investigation I discovered that if I put the code for creating user in before(:all) block, everything magically works. How's that? What's the difference between :all and :each in this context? Also, If I put the code for creating user actually in the test body, it still doesn't work (i.e. user somehow isn't added to the DB or something).

  Hi, Whats the best way to ensure the user has entered a valid time string such as: 5:24 5.4 102:30 102.5 It will be entered into a UITextField therefore will be in a NSString. I want to allow the user to enter the time in either hours and minutes (hh:mm) or hours and decimal minutes (hh.m). In the hours minutes example they should be able to enter as many hours as the like but only between 0 - 59 minutes. With the hours decimal minutes I want them to only be able to enter again as many hours as the like but decimal minutes can only be 0 - 9. Many Thanks

• Check something before django server starts

  I am running my api behind a django server and say I have a one time token that is needed by the django application and used through out its existence until the process quits. To check if I can proceed and serve requests (using the django server) I need to validate this token against a database entry. Now, I can have a script that hits the db, then issues the run server command if the token is valid. But if the db used by the django applications change, I will have to change the script also to point to the same db. Is there a way I can pass this token into the runserver command as an additional parameter (along with hostname:port) and validate this before django serves any requests? How can I access this parameter that is sent into ./manage.py runserver. Thanks.

  Hey guys, I'm trying to validate a model object outside of the context of ModelState within a controller, I currently have a parser that creates model objects from an excel file and I want to be able to report how many entries were added to the database and how many failed, is there a way to validate a model object on its data annotations outside of model binding? I'm looking for something similar to the rails model method of model.valid? or a way for me to implement that myself. My current solution is just manually checking if a few key fields are present but this duplicates requirements between my model class and its metadata, there has to be a better way to hook into the model validation checking that is done by mvc 2. • Merging and splitting overlapping rectangles to produce non-overlapping ones

  I am looking for an algorithm as follows: Given a set of possibly overlapping rectangles (All of which are "not rotated", can be uniformly represented as (left,top,right,bottom) tuplets, etc...), it returns a minimal set of (non-rotated) non-overlapping rectangles, that occupy the same area. It seems simple enough at first glance, but prooves to be tricky (at least to be done efficiently). Are there some known methods for this/ideas/pointers? Methods for not necessarily minimal, but heuristicly small, sets, are interesting as well, so are methods that produce any valid output set at all.

• Using stored procedures to generate RDLC report in C#

  I'm making an application that generates reports for my client. I'm using his database that contains stored procedures which return the data needed for the reports. The problem is that I don't know how to execute them from the application (more specific the TableAdapter in my dataset). When I use the visual aid to create the TableAdapter, it shows the error "Invalid object named #table1". This is weird because there is a temporary table called #table1 in the stored procedure. When I try to do the whole job programmatically, I get the exception Incorrect syntax near '.'. An object or column name is missing or empty. For SELECT INTO statements, verify each column has a name. For other statements, look for empty alias names. Aliases defined as "" or [] are not allowed. Change the alias to a valid name. I created a DataTable that has identical structure as the result of the stored procedure, but I still get the same exception

Does anybody know why it is valid for Foo() to have a default argument with std::make_shared but not P::Foo()?

  Is it possible to write a MACRO that has a type and a value as its input parameters (MACRO(type,value)), and returns a valid pointer to a location that holds the submitted value. This macro should perform like the following function, but in a more generic manner: int *val_to_ptr(int val){ int *r = NULL; r = nm_malloc(sizeof(*r)); *r = val; return r; } Where nm_malloc() is a failsafe malloc. The Macro usage should be compatible with this usage: printf("%d",*MACRO(int,5)); Is it possible to achieve that ?

• MySQL Accept Any Password

  Suppose that I have a test server with a large group of test accounts. The test accounts have unknown passwords which are hard-coded into the application's reports and are stored encrypted in the mysql.users table. Is there any option or hack which can be used to make mysql accept any text as the "correct" password for an account? For example: Update mysql.user Set Password="*" where 1=1 Note: The above line wouldn't work because it would literally set the password to "*" and not the wildcard character. However, I am looking for a way to create a mysql account which would accept anything as a valid password. This machine is disconnected from the network and I have full access to the mysql database...

• MySQL inner join different results

  I am trying to work out why the following two queries return different results: SELECT DISTINCT i.id, i.date FROM `tblinvoices` i INNER JOIN `tblinvoiceitems` it ON it.userid=i.userid INNER JOIN `tblcustomfieldsvalues` cf ON it.relid=cf.relid WHERE i.`tax` = 0 AND i.`date` BETWEEN '2012-07-01' AND '2012-09-31' and SELECT DISTINCT i.id, i.date FROM `tblinvoices` i WHERE i.`tax` = 0 AND i.`date` BETWEEN '2012-07-01' AND '2012-09-31' Obviously the difference is the inner join here, but I don't understand why the one with the inner join is returning less results than the one without it, I would have thought since I didn't do any cross table references they should return the same results. The final query I am working towards is SELECT DISTINCT i.id, i.date FROM `tblinvoices` i INNER JOIN `tblinvoiceitems` it ON it.userid=i.userid INNER JOIN `tblcustomfieldsvalues` cf ON it.relid=cf.relid WHERE cf.`fieldid` =5 AND cf.`value` REGEXP '[A-Za-z]' AND i.`tax` = 0 AND i.`date` BETWEEN '2012-07-01' AND '2012-09-31' But because of the different results that seem incorrect when I add the inner join (it removes some results that should be valid) it's not working at present, thanks.

  Hi,everybody I`m trying to run a window as modal directly from the code. My program starts and a main NSWindows is showed.A thread still running to see if the user has a valid distribution. if he doesn't I need to run a modal.I mean, I have no buttons clicked in the interface.I've designed a NSWindow on the interface builder for a password set, and I want to call it only when my validation is not successful. • Clearcase and java process : changing view does not apply

  i have a simple application, which receives input from a user for a CC stream name, and is suppose to return the content of a specific file from this stream repository. I have tried doing this using a simple shell script: user enters stream name, java receives stream name, runs a process which runs a script "myccscript.sh" which contains "myinput=$1; cleartool setview $myinput" (or something like that). then i try reading the file and printing it's content in the java side. BUT, after the process is finished - the view is not the view from the user input - that environment was probably only valid for the process Ive created. how do i change the clearcase view to the main java process?   Hello, Using Visual Studio 2010 10.0.20319.1 RTMRel and SQL Server Express 10.50.1600.1 I'm trying to add a new SQL Server Database .mdf, however, I receive the following error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 – Connection string is not valid) I have enabled TCP/IP and Named Pipelines, added Firewall Exceptions for Sql Server, I am successfully connecting from VS in the Server Explorer window. I would appreciate if someone can pint me to a solution to my problem. Thank you.

• How good is the Rails sanitize() method?

  Can I use ActionView::Helpers::SanitizeHelper#sanitize on user-entered text that I plan on showing to other users? E.g., will it properly handle all cases described on this site? Also, the documentation mentions: Please note that sanitizing user-provided text does not guarantee that the resulting markup is valid (conforming to a document type) or even well-formed. The output may still contain e.g. unescaped ’<’, ’’, ’&’ characters and confuse browsers. What's the best way to handle this? Pass the sanitized text through Hpricot before displaying?

• Intent flags to Login page redirect, killing previous Activities

  Basically I have a Service that at some points it will sync with the network in order to check if the token is still valid. if it isn't, it should redirect to the login screen (from the service) and if the user press the back button, it should NOT show the previous Activity but instead exit the app. I'm not asking how to hack onBackPressed, I already know how to do it. I'm asking how to accomplish this using the intent flags. So far I have tried the following: intent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); Using the FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK is mandatory because I'm calling startActivity() from a service (or at least thrown exception told me so), and using FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP cause it was supposed to remove all previous activities from the stack, leaving only the new one. The issue is if I press back, I am still able to go to the previous Activity, which makes me think the combination of both flags are clearing the activities in the NEW task, not in the previous one I might be wrong on the reason, but it doesn't work. Any help will be appreciated, thanks

• Proper use of use of "cor" function in R

  I am interested to know what a proper x (vector matrix or data frame) input looks like. I am currently using the function in two different sorts of matrices. However, I am not sure how R would interpret my data the way I intend. I will explain the types of matrix by example. Type 1 Gene1 Gene2 Gene3 sample1 sample2 Type 2 Sample1 Sample2 Sample3 gene 1 gene 2 gene 3 Are either of these formats valid x parameters? I input both of types of matrices and get some results, but without knowing whether or not this a proper use the function, these are just random numbers. Thank you for your time.
