• "Could not register destruction callback" warn message leads to memory leaks?

  Hello all, I'm in the exact same situation as this old question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2077558/warn-could-not-register-destruction-callback In short: I see a warning saying that a destruction callback could not be registered for some beans. My question is: since the beans whose destruction callback cannot be registered are two persistance beans, could this be the source of a memory leak? I am experiencing a leak in my app. Although the session timeout is set (to 30 minutes), my profiler shows me more instances of the hibernate SessionImpl each time I run a thread dump. The number of instances of SessionImpl is exactly the number of times I tried to login between two thread dumps. Thanks for your help...

  Hi, I am using dotnetCHARTING: the dll is installed in the GAC and referenced in my web.config (all versions appear to match). The project has a reference to the dll. web.config: <add assembly="dotnetCHARTING, Version=5.3.3540.17054, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=af2cd47db69d93bd"/> The site code compiles ok, but all aspx pages using the charting library complain that the Chart tag does not exist (warning that it might be a compile error). The aspx pages do not render the charts. Each page has a reference to the assembly: <%@ Register Assembly="dotnetCHARTING" Namespace="dotnetCHARTING" TagPrefix="dotnetCHARTING" %> Does anybody know what could be causing this? • iPhone SDK Push Notification

  I have setup push notifications in the apple developer panel and added the code to my application. It works fine on the phone using a development profile but if I use a distribution (ad-hoc) profile so that I can give it to a few users for testing it gives an error and crashes, the log gives the following error Code: Thu Jun 25 22:22:35 unknown SpringBoard[729] <Warning>: *** Assertion failure in -[SBRemoteNotificationServer registerApplication:forEnvironment:withTypes:], /SourceCache/SpringBoard/SpringBoard-919.5/SBRemoteNotificationServer.m:633 Thu Jun 25 22:22:35 unknown SpringBoard[729] <Error>: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'no connection found for environment production' I am using the following code in the app Code: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes:(UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert | UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound)]; The thing I don't understand is why it works perfectly using a development profile but with ad-hoc it crashes. Does anyone know what would cause this?, I've tried changing lots of things to try and find the issue but have found nothing.

• How to programmatically answer "Yes" to WebBrowser control security alert

  I am using WebBrowser control to programmatically access a single website, but whenever I login, I receive this certificate security alert: Since I trust that website and since I need to programmatically automate the login as well, this dialog box gets in the way. I searched SO for a solution and found a question similar to mine, but the accepted answer does not work! I defined a static member in the form that contains the WebControl: public static bool ValidateServerCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } In my form's constructor I added: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); But that didn't get rid of the certificate security alert. Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is there an IE equivalent to Firefox's Add Security Exception??? Note: The owner's certificate works perfectly fine (without exhibiting this security alert) with standalone browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). It only exhibits the problem with the WebBroswer control.

  I have a Core Data entity whose header file looks like this: @interface MyEntity : NSManagedObject { } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber * index; @end And it's implementation file looks like this: @implementation MyEntity @dynamic index; @end Now, I have a piece of code that looks like this: NSArray* selectedObects = [myEntityArrayController selectedObjects]; NSUInteger theIndex = [[[selectedObects objectAtIndex:0] index] unsignedIntegerValue]; The 'myEntityArrayController' object is a NSArrayController which manages all entities of MyEntity. This code executes correctly, however XCode always gives the warning "Invalid receiver type 'NSUInteger'" for the last line of code. For some reason, XCode thinks that the index method returns a NSUInteger. I'm not sure why it thinks this, because 'objectAtIndex' returns an object of type 'id'. I've cleaned the project several times, and these warnings have hung around for a while. Any suggestions are appreciated.

• VS2010 / Code Analysis: Turn off a rule for a project without custom ruleset....

  ...any change? The scenario is this: For our company we develop a standard how code should look. This will be the MS full rule set as it looks now. For some specific projects we may want to turn off specific rules. Simply because for a specific project this is a "known exception". Example? CA1026 - while perfectly ok in most cases, there are 1-2 specific libraries we dont want to change those. We also want to avoid having a custom rule set. OTOH putting in a suppress attribute on every occurance gets pretty convoluted pretty fast. Any way to turn off a code analysis warning for a complete assembly without a custom rule set? We rather have that in a specific file (GlobalSuppressions.cs) than in a rule set for maintenance reasons, and to be more explicit ;)

• NSWindow does not respond to keystroke command-s

  Hello, it may pre very simple, but cannot find it: I have three windows in three separate NIBs in my application. One is opened when a new document is opened, the other two can be opened from the program's window menu. The problem is: two windows (in them the one that is opened at the beginning) accepts the normal keystroke as for example command-s for save, and the other one does not and gives a warning sound instead. I cannot figure out the difference between the two windows or their controllers. I know it will have to do with the responder chain, but I am left clueless. Any ideas? Thanks, wackazong

• What is the right way to initialize a constant in Ruby?

  I have a simple class that defines some constants, e.g.: module Foo class Bar BAZ = "bof" ... Everything is puppies and rainbows until I tell Rake to run all my Test::Unit tests. When it does, I get warnings: bar.rb:3: warning: already initialized constant BAZ My habit has been to avoid these warnings by making the constant initialization conditional, e.g.: ... BAZ = "bof" unless const_defined? :BAZ ... This seems to solve the problem, but it is a little tedious, and I don't ever see anyone else initializing constants this way. This makes me think I might be Doing It Wrong. Is there a better way to initialize constants that won't generate warnings?

• file_get_contents() returns "failed to open stream" when used with Facebook access_token flow

  file_get_contents() is returning "failed to open stream" when I call it on a Facebook oAuth access_token URL. Warning: file_get_contents(https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?client_id=XXXXX&redirect_uri=http://mydomain.com/fb/callback3.php&client_secret=xxxx&code=YYYY) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No error in E:\\htdocs\fb\callback3.php on line 5 (I have removed ClientID, clientSecret and the oAuth Code). If I try to manually hit the Facebook access_token URL that my code is attempting to fetch, I get an actual payload returned in the browser: access_token=XYZ&expires=6508 (where XYZ is the access token) So for some reason, there is a problem with the access_token URL specifically when used with file_get_contents(). At first, I thought it was a security issue with my webhoster, but I have verified with phpinfo() that allow url open is indeed allowed. I have also tried this code and verified it works: $foo = file_get_contents('http://google.com'); echo $foo Anyone have any ideas why file_get_contents() is failing with the Facebook access_token URL?

• A control that contains multiple duplicate properties causing deadlock issues on IIS

  I am trying to work out if the above case is true for our site. I've been told by my hosting provider that this fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974165) has to applied to our server due to performance issues. It basically describes an issues where UI code like: <asp:gridview id="GridView1" runat="server" ... PageSize="100" PagerSettings-Mode="Numeric" PagerStyle-BorderStyle="None" PagerStyle-BorderColor="Navy" PagerStyle-HorizontalAlign="Right" PagerSettings-PageButtonCount="2" PagerSettings-Position="Bottom"> <PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Left" BorderColor="Navy" BorderStyle="None"></PagerStyle> ... <PagerSettings PageButtonCount="2"></PagerSettings> ... </asp:gridview> causing the following warning on the server "ISAPI 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'." Does anybody know of a way that I can detect this issue in the build process or the debugger? Any help would be much appreciate.

• Silverlight 4 - elevated permission *inside* the browser

  I know Silverlight 4 can handle elevated permissions outside the browser. Is there a way to accomplish this inside the browser? I need to make a folder/file upload manager that gives a better user experience than the standard , and I'd like to implement it in Silverlight. I know Java has an option to gain elevated permissions, but you have to attach a signed certificate to your app. Does Silverlight 4 have a similar option - to gain elevated permissions by attaching a signed certificate (after warning the user, of course)? -Doug

  I am curious what writers (handlers, loggers) are you using. Text file and db its quite obvious, but what are other possibilities ? Firephp maybe (as in Zend_Log), mail, jabber, url ? Is anyone using syslog() or error_log() ? Are you using streams (especially custom ones) ? Are you using custom error levels or you limit yourself to predefined values? Are you logging common php errors / warning / notices? And last question - is there anything new in the town, worth consideration, apart of Zend_Log ? Or are you using your homebrew class?

  I have been using the Django Messaging Framework to display messages to a user in the template. I am outputting them to the template like this: <ul> {% for message in messages %} <li{% if message.tags %} class="{{ message.tags }}"{% endif %}>{{ message }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> This outputs all the messages, errors, warning, success etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas how to display only the error messages something like: <ul> {% for message in messages.errors %} <li>{{ message }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> Any ideas?   I wrote a Log class derived from System.Diagnostics.TraceListener like so public class Log : TraceListener This acts as a wrapper to Log4Net and allows people to use System.Diagnostics Tracing like so Trace.Listeners.Clear(); Trace.Listeners.Add(new Log("MyProgram")); Trace.TraceInformation("Program Starting"); There is a request to add additional tracing levels then the default Trace ones (Error,Warning,Information) I want to have this added to the System.Diagnostics.Trace so it can be used like Trace.TraceVerbose("blah blah"); Trace.TraceAlert("Alert!"); Is there any way I can do this with an extension class? I tried public static class TraceListenerExtensions { public static void TraceVerbose(this Trace trace) {} } but nothing is being exposed on the trace instance being passed in :(

  Hello all, I am having problems with the PHP function unlink. I keep getting this error: Warning: unlink(C:\wamp\www\webs\db\db_1276259188.mdb) [function.unlink]: Permission denied in C:\wamp\www\webs\pure-php-export.php on line 242 I am on a windows machine where Apache runs as the user SYSTEM. I have set the permissions of the db folder as "Full Control" for Apache's user. I thought my script might still be holding on to that file (its an uploaded file that gets used via PDO). try{ $dbh = new PDO("odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)};Dbq=$mdbFilename", $username, $password); }catch(PDOException $e){ echo $e->getMessage(); } So before I attempt to delete the file I unset the above and try to delete like so: $dbh = null; unset($dbh); if(is_file($mdbFilename)){ unlink($mdbFilename); } I really appreciate any help on this as it has been driving me mental for the past two hours! However, when I put the script into a subdirectory of /etc/ owned by root:root and executed as root it works. What gives?

• iPhone Simulator chrashes in NSKeyedUnarchiver after setting base SDK

  Hi! I started a project in xcode (3.2 on snow leopard) with base sdk 3.1.2. Now I changed this setting to 3.0 and it compiles without a warning. There are no problems running the app on the device, but the simulator crashes on launch every time with the following exception: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '[NSKeyedUnarchiver initForReadingWithData:]: incomprehensible archive (0x4e, 0x49, 0x42, 0x41, 0x72, 0x63, 0x68, 0x69)' I do not use the NSKeyedUnarchiver, so why is the app trying to call it? And what archive is incomprehensible? I reset the simulator before building, so there are no userDefaults or anything else around. Thanks for your help!

Is there a way I can upload the file by using username/password? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

• Security Level for WebBrowser control

  I am trying to migrate an .hta application to a C# executable. Of course, since it's an .hta the code is all HTML and Jscript, with calls to local ActiveX objects. I created a C# executable project and am just using the WebBrowser control to display the HTML content. Simply renamed the .hta to an .html and took out the HTA declarations. Everything works great, except that when I make calls to the ActiveX objects, I get a security popup warning of running an ActiveX control on the page. I understand why this is happening since the WebBrowser control is essentially IE and uses the Internet Options security settings, but is there any way to get the WebBrowser control to bypass security popups, or a way to register the executable or DLLs as being trusted without having to change settings in Internet Options? Even a way to do on a deployment package would work as well.

And in particular, let us suppose that I care about error handling, expecting network and other errors, and instead of just being optimistic I want sensible handling of different errors. If I use the "low-level" feature of $.ajax() then it's clear how to specify an error callback, but the convenience methods of $.get(), $.post(), and .load() do not allow an error callback to be specified. What are the best practices for pessimistic error handling? Is it by registering a .ajaxError() with certain wrapped sets, or an introspection-style global error handler in $.ajaxSetup()? What would the relevant portions of code look like to initiate an autosave so that a "could not autosave" type warning is displayed if an attempted autosave fails, and perhaps a message that is customized to the type of error? Here is why I like trace sources: Pluggable listeners - XML, TextFile, Console, EventLog, roll your own Customisable trace switches (error, warning, info, verbose, start, end, custom) Customisable configuration The Logging Application Block is just a big set of TraceListeners Correlation of activities/scopes (e.g., associate all logs within an ASP.NET request with a given customer The Service Trace Viewer allows you to visualize events against these activities individually All of it is configurable in app.config/web.config. Since the .NET framework internally uses TraceSources, it also gives me a consistent way of configuring tracing - with log4net, I have to configure log4net as well as TraceSources. What does log4net give me that TraceSources don't (or that couldn't be done by writing a couple of custom TraceListeners)?

  Heyy Everybody! I am trying to create a memory management system, so that a user can call myMalloc, a method I created. I have a linked list keeping track of my free memory. My problem is when I am attempting to find the end of a free bit in my linked list. I am attempting to add the size of the memory free in that section (which is in the linked list) to the pointer to the front of the free space, like this. void *tailEnd = previousPlace->head_ptr + ((previousPlace->size+1)*(sizeof(int)); I was hoping that this would give me a pointer to the end of that segment. However, I keep getting the warning: "pointer of type 'void*' used in arithmetic" Is there a better way of doing this? Thanks!

File() is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp/:/usr/local/:/usr/bin) in Unknown on line 0 I tried to write in RewriteLog which triggered 500 server error again A little help?
