• SWIG generated code fails to run on PHP 5.3.2 undefined symbol: zend_error_noreturn

  I have a library that I have been using successfully with PHP 5.1.6 with the help of some wrapper code generated by SWIG (v1.3.40). I have just upgraded to PHP 5.3.2 and I am seeing the following error: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/myLib_php.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/myLib_php.so: undefined symbol: zend_error_noreturn in Unknown on line 0 On investigation it appears that the wrapper code produced by SWIG (myLib_wrap.c) includes calls to the PHP function: zend_error_noreturn and that this function isn't available in PHP 5.3.2? Has anyone seen this issue before? Things seem to work if I manually update the generated code so that instead of calling zend_error_noreturn it just calls zend_error. Is this approach safe?

  When I try to change the ASP.NET version to v4 on IIS 6, I receive the following warning: Changing the Framework version requires a restart of the W3SVC service. Alternatively, you can change the Framework version without restarting the W3SVC service by running: aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s IIS-Viirtual-Path Do you want to continue (this will change the Framework version and restart the W3SVC service)? How do I work out IIS-Virtual-Path? I have tried the obvious paths i.e.: aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s "/WebSites/Extranet/AppName" Where WebSites is the name of the folder in IIS, Extranet the name of the root app and AppName the name of the Virtual Directory application I am trying to change. Thanks! Edit: How do I work out the virtual path for the Auth virtual directory in following IIS6 setup: I have tried: aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s "/Web Sites/Extranet/Auth" aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s "Auth" I get: Installation stopped because the specified path (WhateverIPutIn) is invalid.

  I've been using c++ for a while, and I'm familiar with normal try/catch. However, I now find myself on Windows, coding in VisualStudio for COM development. Several parts of the code use things like: TRY { ... do stuff } CATCH_ALL(e) { ... issue a warning } END_CATCH_ALL; What's the point of these macros? What benefit do they offer over the built-in try/catch? I've tried googling this, but "try vs TRY" is hard to search for.

• Error installing gst-python through Homebrew

  I'm trying to install gst-python and it errors with: brew install gst-python Warning: Your Xcode (4.2.1) is outdated Please install Xcode 4.5.2. ==> Downloading http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/src/gst-python/gst-python-0.10. I just can't install the package above (gst, pygtk is successfully installed). i was told that I need to install python-devel but I have no idea where from. Seems neater to me... Does anyone know what is meant by the following line?: Nested types include the notion of member accessibility, which some programmers do not understand clearly Using Namespaces to group the Class and Enum doesn't seem like a useful way to resolve this warning, since I would like both the enum to belong to the same parent level as the class name.

  Hi, I've upgraded PHP on my local dev system to version 5.3.0, and there is some problem when I use constants in application.ini - following manual http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/learning.quickstart.create-project.html I have: bootstrap.path = APPLICATION_PATH "/Bootstrap.php" which leads to: Warning: require_once(APPLICATION_PATH/Bootstrap.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Zend\Application.php on line 320 any ideas? SOLVED: Actually name of my constant was _DIR_APPLICATION (code above was copied from ZF manual) - problem lies in this underscore at the begining - it seems that parse_ini_file() in PHP 5.3.0 doesn't replace constants named like this. Short test - you need two files: test.ini bootstrap.path = _DIR_APPLICATION "/Bootstrap.php" bootstrap.class = "Bootstrap" and test.php <?php define('_DIR_APPLICATION', 'test'); $data = parse_ini_file('test.ini'); print_r($data); try to run, then change constant name to 'DIR_APPLICATION' (in both files) and compare result ;)

  I'm following a tutorial in "More iPhone 3 Development. In the code, they have a line: NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext = appDelegate.managedObjectContext; I get an error: "accessing unknown 'managedObjectContext' getter method" on that line. I've downloaded his sample code and his program runs fine with that line of code. I've tried rewriting the code and I've even copied and pasted his code into my program, but I still get the error. I am using the newest SDK, and I'm wondering if something might have changed so this getter method doesn't work anymore, but I do not get any warning about deprecation. Does anyone know what is going on, or better yet, a better way to write this line and not get the error. Thanks LadyDev

• Visual Studio does not flag unterminated string constant in VB.Net

  I noticed that if I leave off the terminating double quote for a string constant in Visual Studio 2010, there is no error or even a warning, i.e. Dim foo as String = "hi However, the continuous integration tool we are using flags an error: error BC30648: String constants must end with a double quote. What's going on here? Is there some language rule in VB.NET that makes a terminating double quote optional "sometimes"? Is there some setting in Visual Studio that will make it flag this as an error?

• MS Web Browser on Pocket PC

  Hi all, I'm trying to create a custom web browser for on a pocket pc in C++ MFC. When I add the Microsoft Web Browser activeX control and run the app on the pocket pc (emulator) then this error pops up: "Debug assertion failed. occcont.cpp line: 916" When I look in the debug window of VS2005: "CoCreateInstance of OLE control {8856F961-340A-11D0-A96B-00C04FD705A2} failed. Result code: 0x80040154 Is the control is properly registered? Warning: Resource items and Win32 Z-order lists are out of sync. Tab order may be not defined well." How can I use this control on a pocket pc? Or is there a similar control that works?

• Libqxt under Qt Creator

  I want to create a tiny app which needs global shortcuts. So, I have downloaded the current version of libqxt (0.5.1) and opened as a project in Qt Creator. Libqxt compiles without problems in this way, so I thought that adding this in the tab Dependencies of my project it would get added automatically in the build, like Eclipse does with JAR libraries (I know that are different IDEs but it seems to be a common feature among them). What happens? Qt Creator compiles qxt before my project, when needed, but when I want to include its headers Qt Creator keeps warning me that it cannot find them. Probably I am missing the correct name of headers (I tried the headers showed in qxt documentation: http://doc.libqxt.org/0.5.0/classQxtGlobalShortcut.html) By the way, I looked the code for global shortcuts and I think I can rip it out and use it in my app as is and I am going to credit qxt team and open the code of my app.

• PHP mssql_query double quotes cannot be used

  Hi all, In java-jdbc, I can easily run the following SQL (NOTE the double quotes around columns and table names) Select cus."customer_id" , cus."organisation_or_person" , cus."organisation_name" , cus."first_name" , cus."last_name" , cus."date_became_customer" , cus."other_customer_details" From "Contact_Management"."dbo"."Customers" cus But the same query in PHP errors out saying invalid syntax "Warning: mssql_query() [function.mssql-query]: message: Incorrect syntax near 'customer_id'. (severity 15) " But If remove all the double quotes, the query works fine and no errors. The query is ported from a java application so I would like to keep the double quotes and the SQL as it is.   Becoming a bit of a Ruby convert, but I've run into an issue with my Rails installation. I realize, in spirit, this question may overlap with superuser.com, but am asking here due to the nature of the installation. My command: sudo gem install rails Response is: /opt/local/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/1.8/rubygems/spec_fetcher.rb:232: warning:getc is obsolete; use STDIN.getc instead The "/opt/local" may be giving away the fact I'm using MacPorts(Mac OS 10.4). After that response, there is no new command line issued by the system, just a hang. Any insite is greatly appreciated.

  This is more a curiosity than necessity question. I've just installed nokogiri again with RubyGems and it is saying "WARNING: Nokogiri was built against LibXML version 2.7.5, but has dynamically loaded 2.7.6" This is easy enough to fix, but it lead to a more general question: how do I see all the configuration options for a rubygem before installing it? I found the easiest way I know how is to visit the gem folder an run "ruby nokogiri-0.0.0/ext/nokogiri/extconf.rb -h" and that shows me it, but there has to be an easier way, right? I was expecting some kind of "sudo gem install nokogiri -- --help" command that would show the build flags. I've searched around a bit but didn't see anything, anybody know how to do this before I go digging into RG's source :)?

• Django shows too many warnings when deleting an object

I have two models: class Account(models.Model): main_request = models.ForeignKey('JournalistRequest', related_name='main_request') key = models.CharField(_('Key'), max_length=100) class JournalistRequest(models.Model): account = models.ForeignKey(Account, blank=True, null=True) When I try to delete a JournalistRequest, It shows warning with a lot of nesting, like Are you sure you want to delete the selected ?????? ??? objects? All of the following objects and their related items will be deleted: Journalist Request: some request Account: some account Journalist Request: some request Account: some account Journalist Request: some request Account: some account Journalist Request: some request Account: some account Journalist Request: some request All accounts are the same one (ids are same), and all requests are the same one, so I think it becaues of a recursion. • Building iPhone static library for armv6 and armv7 that includes another static library

  Hi, I have an Xcode project that has a "master" static library target, that includes/links to a bunch of other static libraries from other Xcode projects. When building the master library target for "Optimized (armv6 armv7)", an error occurs in the last phase, during the CreateUniversalBinary step. For each .o file of the libraries that is included by the master library, the following error is reported (for example, the FBConnectGlobal.o file): warning for architecture: armv6 same member name (FBConnectGlobal.o) in output file used for input files: /Developer_Beta/Builds/MTToolbox/MTToolbox.build/Debug-iphoneos/MTToolbox.build/Objects-normal/armv6/libMTToolbox.a(FBConnectGlobal.o) and: /Developer_Beta/Builds/MTToolbox/MTToolbox.build/Debug-iphoneos/MTToolbox.build/Objects-normal/armv7/libMTToolbox.a(FBConnectGlobal.o) due to use of basename, truncation and blank padding In the end, Xcode tells that the build has succeeded. However, when using the final static library in an application project, it won't build because it finds duplicate symbols in one part of build (armv6) and misses symbols in the other part of the build (armv7). Any ideas how to fix this? M

• Can't use FAXCOMEXLib in VS 2010 anymore?

  I'm just in the process of moving from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010. One of my projects use the Microsoft Fax Service Extended COM Type Library. After converting the project to VS 2010 I get the following compiler error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1558,9): error MSB3648: The Keycontainer-path "VS_KEY_812A0248FF872DEC" ist invalid. KeyContainer must point to an existing file. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.Targets(1558,9): warning MSB3283: Wrapperassembly for type library "FAXCOMEXLib" not found. I tried to remove FAXCOMEXLib from the project and adding it again, but it did not help. I got a similar problem with other COM references. How do I resolve this?

  Hello! I'm seeking for solution how to isolate widget included by partial to main site. Issue appear when user access site with https. Ie 6,7 shows security confirmation dialog (part of website resources are not in secure zone). First of all I download twitter widget on our side, also I download all CSS and pictures. Then I patched widget JS to point onto downloaded resources. But still has not luck with security warning :( I guess the reason of this issue is AJAX request to twitter, but there is no idea how to sole it. (Just to create some kind of proxy on our side). • Eclipse IDE's Hello World Cheatsheet seems to have a mistake

  Hey guys, Just a warning: I'm completely new to Java and am trying to teach myself Android programming. I installed the Eclipse IDE today and tried to walk through the first Java Hello World "cheat sheet," and it didn't work! I was really quite surprised. When it asked me to select the checkbox to create the main() method, there wasn't anything on-screen that looked like a checkbox with "main()" or "method" next to it, so I guessed that maybe what they meant was the "Modifiers" radio button. So I left that checked for "public." It didn't compile and I got red X's next to every folder in my Package Explorer. Has anybody else had this problem? Thanks!

  Hi, I'm trying to connect to an access database from a php script using ODBC. When I put the db on my local c: drive create a system DSN i can connect no problem, but when it's on the networked drive I get the error: Warning: odbc_connect() [function.odbc-connect]: SQL error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides., SQL state S1009 in SQLConnect in C:\wamp\www\suppliers\furniture.php on line 3 Ok so I'm guessing it's permissions somewhere anyone know specifically what/where? • Idiomatic ruby for temporary variables within a method

  Within a method, I am using i and j as temporary variables while calculating other variables. What is an idiomatic way of getting rid of i and j once they are no longer needed? Should I use blocks for this purpose? i = positions.first while nucleotide_at_position(i-1) == nucleotide_at_position(i) raise "Assumption violated" if i == 1 i -= 1 end first_nucleotide_position = i j = positions.last while nucleotide_at_position(j+1) == nucleotide_at_position(j) raise "Assumption violated" if j == sequence.length j += 1 end last_nucleotide_position = j Background: I'd like to get rid of i and j once they are no longer needed so that they aren't used by any other code in the method. Gives my code less opportunity to be wrong. I don't know the name of the concept - is it "encapsulation"? The closest concepts I can think of are (warning: links to TV Tropes - do not visit while working) Chekhov'sGun or YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness. Another alternative would be to put the code into their own methods, but that may detract from readability.
