• How to make CSS URL background images show up in localhost?

  Hi guys, I just installed xampp and I brought one of my live sites into it to be able to start working from localhost. So to view my site, I navigate to localhost/example.com I noticed some issues with images when on my html, I had for example: <img src="/new_pictures/05.jpg" alt="Central Market"/> Image wouldn't show up, but then I removed the / and this works: <img src="new_pictures/05.jpg" alt="Central Market"/> I seem to have a similar problem with the CSS background image, but I can't get it to work-if I remove the / there, the image doesn't show up on the live site. How do I make the background image show up on localhost? Example CSS (works in live site but not localhost): .outeremailcontainer { height:60px; width: 275px; background-image:url(/images/feather_email2.jpg); text-align:center; float:right; position:relative; z-index:1; } Thanks!

• How to set foreground Window from Powershell event subscriber action

  I have a FileSystemWatcher instance running in the background of my PoSh session watching for changes to text files. A PoSh event subscriber is attached to this event and, when fired, it launches a console program by calling Start-Process. This program steals de focus from the current foreground window (my PoSh console). Calling SetForegroundWindow from the PoSh event subscriber to return the focus to my PoSh console doesn't work. SwitchToThisWindow does work most of the time, but according to the MSDN docs, it shoulnd't be used. Can I prevent Start-Process from stealing the focus in this situation or set it back from the event subscriber to the window that had it before this event is fired?

• Inform Activity from a BroadcastReceiver ONLY if it is in the foreground

  Hi there! Maybe it's easy, but I couldn't really figure this out right so far... I got a BroadcastReceiver waiting to get triggered by the AlarmMangager - this works fine. Now: because the event, if it occurs, needs to refresh some elements on screen of the main Activity, I would like to send an Intent from that background BroadcastReceiver to my Activity - but only if it is currently in the foreground, aka active. If it is not running or not visible, I don't care - and the last thing I want to do is start the Activity by my intent! I handle repainting of the views in my onResume method, so I don't care at all. Any hints on how to do that? Thanks! EDIT: my BroadcastReceiver is waiting for alarms that must be notified to the user. So, it must be there and declared in the manifest. The problem is: it will have to decide whether the mentioned Activity is currently up in front or not.

• TabWidget white foreground color?

  I don't know what I did but for a period of time my TabWidget had white colored tabs which looked really nice. I never set a theme or background/foreground color in my project at all. The next time I compiled it it reverted back to the gray tabs. My application is using the default dark theme. Even if I set the application theme to light, the tabs are still gray. So obviously it was something else that changed the tabs' color. Anyone know how to do this?

• Running a program in background using command-line [duplicate]

  This question already has an answer here: Running programs in the background from terminal 4 answers How do I run a program in the background of a shell, with the ability to close the shell while leaving the program running which should not disturb the window i am working on? Lets say my UI is having problems or for some reason, I need to boot up a program from the terminal window. The program should not disturb my window in which i am working on but it should be opened from the command line and i should be able to get access to it using the normal shortcut ALT+TAB. Even the command line should exit after running the command I tried this .... "gedit file-name & exit" this is working fine but the gedit file is opening in the foreground (let i be working on some application like mozilla. After running the command ..... gedit file is coming upwards and i have to flip to mozilla again but the command should just open the gedit file not shifting to gedit application from the mozilla window)

• UITableView with background UIImageView hides table controls

  I am having a problem setting the background of UITableView to a UIImageView (see below for why I am doing this), once the view is set, it works fine, and scrolls with the UITableView, but it hides the elements of the Table View. I need to have a UIImageView as the background for a UITableView. • Input boxes with transparent background are not clickable in IE8

  I have an absolutely positioned input box in a form. The input box has transparent background: .form-page input[type="text"] { border: none; background-color: transparent; /* Other stuff: font-weight, font-size */ } Surprisingly, I cannot select this input box by clicking on it in IE8. It works perfectly in Firefox however. The same happens for background: none. When I change the background color: background-color: red; It works fine, so this is issue associated with transparent background. Setting a border makes the input box selectable by clicking on its border only. Is there a workaround to have clickable input box with transparent background working in IE8? Update: Example. Uncomment background-color and the inputbox is selectable. • Tiled game: how to correct load background image ?

  Hi, i'm a newbie. I'm trying to develop a 2d game (top-down view). I would like to load a standard background, a textured ground... My "world" is big, for example 3000px X 3000px. I think it is not a good idea to load a 3000px x 3000px image and move it... So, how is the best practice ? To load a single small image (64x64) and repeat it for N times ?   Hmmm...Is it a good idea to use a LibGDX parallax background for making a stacking game (i.e. PAPA STACKer Lite)? For example, I'm starting to use the blocks to drag-n-drop it. Next, when the next piece reaches the top of the screen, it automatically scrolls to the next one where the available space left. Aside from that, is it also involved with the camera code (Orthographic Camera) that the screen size appeared like 720x1280 but actually it's 1440x2560 for example? And another thing, does the background scrolling have the option to scroll from start to finish and infinite?

  I have come to conclusion that all my needs from nautilus is satisfied with terminal and last file manager. It also dismisses the need for multiple nautilus instances, which makes mess when I forgot how I meant to use different workspaces. The next step for my simplification would be to get rid of any possibility to open nautilus. Also I thought that my interaction with computer is file centred, therefore it makes sense to leave file manager in background of applications. Are there any ways to make terminal as desktop background with which I could interact?

• Can not get to login screen, background starts with terminal prompt only

  my uncle has Ubuntu on his work PC. Basically I came in to work today, and he had lost his UNITY side bar. I told him start with just rebooting it. He rebooted it... now it does not even get to the login screen. It gets to the background with the word UBUNTU, and the 6 or 7 dots, does it's little loading dot thing... then stops, and a black terminal opens on the top left with the background still in place. Personally, I think he screwed it up himself. He always swears he didn't touch anything, but I know better... Either way, I can't get him back into the desktop to even see if the sidebar is back. He's always screwing around pressing the wrong buttons on the login screen, hitting admin things and such... Any ideas?

  I tried to change my LightDM background and theme in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS beta 2, changing /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/com.canonical.unity-greeter.gschema.xml file (I don't even know if it would work, but I couldn't find any other way), and I failed and restored original file. Also, durning the same session I installed gnome-shell-extensions package, but it didn't work either. (I didn't remove it) Now my login screen looks a bit coarse, without theme and background. (It looks like MS Windows 95 a bit - square buttons and text fields) My question is, how to repair login screen (or how to customize it propely) and how to make gnome-shell-extensions work.

When i check the source this <img id="wrapper-background" src="images/body-background-0.jpg" alt="Background" /> and i think theres some kind of script maybe php or js, or both, that every 5 sec changes the background: images/body-background-1.jpg images/body-background-2.jpg images/body-background-3.jpg and so on.. So how did they do this? an example would be great, as i want to learn how to do that.   My question is very similar to this one except that my background process was started from a script. I could be doing something wrong but when I try this simple example: #!/bin/bash set -mb # enable job control and notification sleep 5 & I never receive notification when the sleep background command finishes. However, if I execute the same directly in the terminal, $ set -mb $ sleep 5 & [1]+ Done sleep 5 I see the output that I expect. I'm using bash on cygwin. I'm guessing that it might have something to do with where the output is directed, but trying various output redirection, I'm not getting any closer?

• How do I make a background thread in Java that allows the main application to exit completely? This

  I have a Java application that creates a new thread to do some work. I can launch the new thread with no problems. When the "main" program terminates, I want the thread I created to keep running - which it does... But the problem is, when I run the main application from Eclipse or from Ant under Windows, control doesn't return unless the background process is killed. If I fork the main java process in ant, I want control to return to ant once the main thread is done with its work... But as it is, ant continues to wait until both the main process and the created thread are both terminated. How do I launch the thread in the background such that control will return to ant when the "main" application is finished? (By the way, when I run the same application under Linux, I am able to do this with no problems).
