  • CSS fluid layout with 2 columms

    - by Sune
    Ive building a website with a fluid layout. The structure is: <div id="maincontainer"> <div id="topsection"> <div class="innertube"><h1>CSS Liquid Layout #2.2- (Fluid-Fixed)</h1></div> </div> <div id="contentwrapper"> <div id="contentcolumn"> <div class="innertube"><b>Content Column:</b></div> </div> </div> <div id="rightcolumn"> <div class="innertube"><b>Right Column: <em>200px</em></b> <script type="text/javascript">filltext(14);</script></div> </div> <div id="footer"><a href="#">Some footer</a></div> </div> My problem is when my contentcolumm grows(height) I cant get my right columm too grow with. I can fix the problem with javascript where I measure out the contentcolumn height and set the same height on my rightcolumm. But Im wondering if there are any better css solution. here is clip from my css: #contentwrapper{ float: left; width: 100%; background:#FF7000; } #contentcolumn{ margin-right: 200px; } #rightcolumn{ float: left; width: 200px; margin-left: -200px; background: #BBBBBB; }

  • How to add Custom View +Relative Layout into ViewGroup

    - by TimothyMiller
Hi I am creating a View where you can draw on the screen, using a view, where I would like to have a button/titlebar drawn at the top of the screen. Here is my current code public class FingerPaint extends Activity implements ColorPickerDialog.OnColorChangedListener { private Paint mPaint; private MyView mView; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); LinearLayout main = new LinearLayout(this); mView = new MyView(this); main.addView(this.getLayoutInflater().inflate( R.layout.topbar, null )); main.addView(mView); main.bringChildToFront(mView); setContentView(main); // mView.addView(this.getLayoutInflater().inflate( R.layout.topbar, null )); mPaint = new Paint(); mPaint.setAntiAlias(true); mPaint.setDither(true); mPaint.setColor(0xFFFF0000); mPaint.setStyle(Paint.Style.STROKE); mPaint.setStrokeJoin(Paint.Join.ROUND); mPaint.setStrokeCap(Paint.Cap.ROUND); mPaint.setStrokeWidth(12); mBitmaps=new Bitmap[100]; location=0; actualSize=0; mEmboss = new EmbossMaskFilter(new float[] { 1, 1, 1 }, 0.4f, 6, 3.5f); mBlur = new BlurMaskFilter(8, BlurMaskFilter.Blur.NORMAL); setContentView(main); } public class MyView extends View{ ......... } But when run, only the topbar.xml view is shown. I want the status bar from topbar and the rest down to be from the myView (for drawing on the screen like paint). Am I using ViewGroup properly?

  • Android layout with sqare buttons

    - by Mannaz
    I want to make a layout similar to this one: Four square buttons on the screen - each of those using half of the screen with/screen height (whichever is smaler). I already tried to achieve this by using a LinearLayoutbut the buttons are ending up using the correct width, but still having the height of the background (not square any more). <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" style="@style/CKMainButton" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:text="@string/sights" android:id="@+id/ApplicationMainSight" android:layout_toLeftOf="@+id/ApplicationMainEvent"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" style="@style/CKMainButton" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:text="@string/sights" android:id="@+id/ApplicationMainSight" android:layout_toLeftOf="@+id/ApplicationMainEvent"></Button> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" style="@style/CKMainButton" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:text="@string/usergenerated" android:id="@+id/ApplicationMainUserGenerated"></Button> <Button android:layout_height="wrap_content" style="@style/CKMainButton" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:text="@string/tours" android:id="@+id/ApplicationMainTour"></Button> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> It's looking like this: How can i acchieve the Layout to look like the image above?

  • Adding a Layout to bottom of the screen inside a ScrollView in Landscape mode

    - by andreea
I have the following layout which works in Portrait mode: the Layout with the id LinearLayout02 is placed at the bottom of the screen. The problem appears when flipping to Lanscape mode, when the #LinearLayout02 is placed at the top of the screen. The question is how do I position #LinearLayout02 at the bottom of the screen in both Portrait and Landscape mode? (This happens on G1 and Xperia) Thank you The following code is placed inside a ScrollView android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:fillViewport="true" <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/sLayout" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" android:paddingTop="2dip" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:gravity="top" > ..... </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout02" android:background="@drawable/bottombar_bg" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:paddingTop="10dip" android:layout_height="56dip" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:gravity="bottom" > <Button android:id="@+id/navigate" style="@style/mainBottomTabsButtonNormal" android:drawableLeft="@drawable/icon_navigation" android:text="@string/navigationSettings" android:layout_gravity="left"> </Button> <Button android:id="@+id/search" style="@style/mainBottomTabsButtonActive" android:drawableLeft="@drawable/icon_search" android:text="@string/search.label" android:layout_gravity="right"> </Button> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout>

  • Android Layout: Display as much ImageViews as possible without scrolling

    - by Toni4780
I am working on an app which should display several same size images on the screen. But it should only display only so much images as possible without offering scrolling. E.g. On a "big" tablet it could display 10x10 Imageviews (screen is large, so there is much space for pictures) On a "big" phone there might be enough space to display 6x6 ImageViews, so it should only display a 6x6 array of images. On a small phone there is propably only space for 4x4 ImageViews, so it should only display this. How can I make this in Android? I know about "layout-large", ... but if i make a special fixed xml-layout for a "large" device, it would not fit all devices correct. E.g. a Galaxy Nexus is a "normal" device and so is a Nexus One, but there would be at least be space for one or two more imageview rows on a Galaxy Nexus than on a Nexus One. So do I have to measure in code somehow how big the resolution is and display some TableRows accordingly? Or is there a special way how I can manage this?

  • How do You Center a TextView in Layout?

    - by Ken
    I have a complex layout, part of which features a value centered over a label, with + and - buttons on either side of the value. I want the value to center between the buttons, whether it is "1" or "99". It looks fine when it's a 2-digit number like "99", but when it's a single digit the number is left-justified. How do I properly center that value? Here's the portion of my layout that does this: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_above="@id/runway_label" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:orientation="horizontal"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/dec_runway_button" android:src="@drawable/minus_button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/runway_value" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:textStyle="bold" android:textSize="40.0sp" android:minWidth="50sp" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:layout_gravity="center" android:shadowColor="#333333" android:shadowDx="2.0" android:shadowDy="2.0" android:shadowRadius="3.0" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/inc_runway_button" android:src="@drawable/plus_button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical"/> </LinearLayout>

  • Use XML Layout to contain a simple drawing

    - by user329999
I would like to create a simple drawing (lines, circles, squares, etc...) but I'm having difficulty figuring out the best way to do this. The drawing would need to be scaled to fit the display since the size is indirectly specified by the user (like in a CAD application). Also, I don't want to take up the entire display, leaving room for some controls (buttons, etc). I would pass the data to describe the drawing. Here's how I imagine it would work. I create an XML layout that contains something that holds the drawing (ImageView, BitmapDrawable, ShapeDrawable, ...??? not sure exactly what). Then in my Activity I would load the main XML and obtain the resource for the control that holds the drawing. I would then draw to a bitmap. Once the bitmap was completed I would load it into the control that is to hold the drawing. Somewhere along this path it would be scaled to fill the entire area allocated for the drawing in the XML layout. I don't know if my approach is the way to do this or what classes to use. I read the http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/graphics/2d-graphics.html documentation, but it's not helping me with an example. The examples I do find leave me with hints, but nothing concrete enough to do what I want, especially when it comes to scaling, using XML and/or having other controls. Also, there seems to be no good documentation on the design of the 2D drawing system in a more conceptual manner, so it makes what I read difficult to put into any useful context. Any hints on what classes would be useful and/or a good example any other reading materials? Thanks

  • iOS layout; I'm not getting it

    - by Tbee
Well, "not getting it" is too harsh; I've got it working in for what for me is a logical setup, but it does not seem to be what iOS deems logical. So I'm not getting something. Suppose I've got an app that shows two pieces of information; a date and a table. According to the MVC approach I've got three MVC at work here, one for the date, one for the table and one that takes both these MCVs and makes it into a screen, wiring them up. The master MVC knows how/where it wants to layout the two sub MVC's. Each detail MVC only takes care of its own childeren within the bounds that were specified by the master MVC. Something like: - (void)loadView { MVC* mvc1 = [[MVC1 alloc] initwithFrame:...] [self.view addSubview:mvc1.view]; MVC* mvc2 = [[MVC2 alloc] initwithFrame:...] [self.view addSubview:mvc2.view]; } If the above is logical (which is it for me) then I would expect any MVC class to have a constructor "initWithFrame". But an MVC does not, only view have this. Why? How would one correctly layout nested MVCs? (Naturally I do not have just these two, but the detail MVCs have sub MVCs again.)

  • JSplitPane overlaps JButtons in BorderLayout, but does not when layout is null

    - by thaweatherman
So I'm having another issue..... I'm currently using a BorderLayout in my GUI so that when I resize my jframe, all of the internal components resize with it. I couldn't get any other layout to work with how I want the GUI to look while providing this resizing capability. At the top I have a JMenuBar, and below it I have a bunch of buttons. Below that I am supposed to have a JSplitPane, and it is there. However, the buttons seemed to be contained within the JSplitPane, which is not my intention. So when anything happens within the splitpane, the buttons disappear until I move my mouse over them again. When I set my layout to null everything works great except I lose the resizing capability, which is not good. Tried posting images but it wont let me since my rep isnt at 10 yet :( Any suggestions? I've tried putting the buttons into a JPanel then adding the jpanel but the splitpane overlaps with that. Same with a JToolBar. The order in which I add my items is: 1) the menu bar setJMenuBar(menuBar) 2) the buttons getContentPane().add(btnZoomIn) etc. 3) the split pane getContentPane().add(splitPane) then the rest of the things you see after that

  • Code Trivia: optimize the code for multiple nested loops

    - by CodeToGlory
I came across this code today and wondering what are some of the ways we can optimize it. Obviously the model is hard to change as it is legacy, but interested in getting opinions. Changed some names around and blurred out some core logic to protect. private static Payment FindPayment(Order order, Customer customer, int paymentId) { Payment payment = Order.Payments.FindById(paymentId); if (payment != null) { if (payment.RefundPayment == null) { return payment; } if (String.Compare(payment.RefundPayment, "refund", true) != 0 ) { return payment; } } Payment finalPayment = null; foreach (Payment testpayment in Order.payments) { if (testPayment.Customer.Name != customer.Name){continue;} if (testPayment.Cancelled) { continue; } if (testPayment.RefundPayment != null) { if (String.Compare(testPayment.RefundPayment, "refund", true) == 0 ) { continue; } } if (finalPayment == null) { finalPayment = testPayment; } else { if (testPayment.Value > finalPayment.Value) { finalPayment = testPayment; } } } if (finalPayment == null) { return payment; } return finalPayment; } Making this a wiki so code enthusiasts can answer without worrying about points.

  • Code Camp 2011 – Summary

    - by hajan
Waiting whole twelve months to come this year’s Code Camp 2011 event was something which all Microsoft technologies (and even non-Microsoft techs.) developers were doing in the past year. Last year’s success was enough big to be heard and to influence everything around our developer community and beyond. Code Camp 2011 was nothing else but a invincible success which will remain in our memory for a long time from now. Darko Milevski (president of MKDOT.NET UG and SharePoint MVP) said something interesting at the event keynote that up to now we were looking at the past by saying what we did… now we will focus on the future and how to develop our community more and more in the future days, weeks, months and I hope so for many years… Even though it was held only two days ago (26th of November 2011), I already feel the nostalgia for everything that happened there and for the excellent time we have spent all together. ORGANIZED BY ENTHUSIASTS AND EXPERTS Code Camp 2011 was organized by number of community enthusiasts and experts who have unselfishly contributed with all their free time to make the best of this event. The event was organized by a known community group called MKDOT.NET User Group, name of a user group which is known not only in Macedonia, but also in many countries abroad. Organization mainly consists of software developers, technical leaders, team leaders in several known companies in Macedonia, as well as Microsoft MVPs. SPEAKERS There were 24 speakers at five parallel tracks. At Code Camp 2011 we had two groups of speakers: Professional Experts in various technologies and Student Speakers. The new interesting thing here is the Student Speakers, which draw attention a lot, especially to other students who were interested to see what their colleagues are going to speak about and how do they use Microsoft technologies in different coding scenarios and practices, in different topics. From the rest of the professional speakers, there were 7 Microsoft MVPs: Two ASP.NET/IIS MVPs, Two C# MVPs, and One MVP in SharePoint, SQL Server and Exchange Server. I must say that besides the MVP Speakers, who definitely did a great job as always… there were other excellent speakers as well, which were speaking on various technologies, such as: Web Development, Windows Phone Development, XNA, Windows 8, Games Development, Entity Framework, Event-driven programming, SOLID, SQLCLR, T-SQL, e.t.c. SESSIONS There were 25 sessions mainly all related to Microsoft technologies, but ranging from Windows 8, WP7, ASP.NET till Games Development, XNA and Event-driven programming. Sessions were going in five parallel tracks named as Red, Yellow, Green, Blue and Student track. Five presentations in each track, each with level 300 or 400. More info MY SESSION (ASP.NET MVC Best Practices) I must say that from the big number of speaking engagements I have had, this was one of my best performances and definitely I have set new records of attendees at my sessions and probably overall. I spoke on topic ASP.NET MVC Best Practices, where I have shown tips, tricks, guidelines and best practices on what to use and what to avoid by developing with one of the best web development frameworks nowadays, ASP.NET MVC. I had approximately 350+ attendees, the hall was full so that there was no room for staying at feet. Besides .NET developers, there were a lot of other technology oriented developers, who has also received the presentation very well and I really hope I gave them reason to think about ASP.NET as one of the best options for web development nowadays (if you ask me, it’s the best one ;-)). I have included 10 tips in using ASP.NET MVC each of them followed by a demo. Besides these 10 tips, I have briefly introduced the concept of ASP.NET MVC for those that haven’t been working with the framework and at the end some bonus tips. I must say there was lot of laugh for some funny sentences I have stated, like “If you code ASP.NET MVC, girls will love you more” – same goes for girls, only replace girls with boys :). [LINK TO SESSION WILL GO HERE, ONCE SESSIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON MK CODECAMP WEBSITE] VOLUNTEERS Without strong organization, such events wouldn’t be able to gather hundreds of attendees at one place and still stay perfectly organized to the smallest details, without dedicated organization and volunteers. I would like to dedicate this space in my blog to them and to say one big THANK YOU for supporting us before the event and during the whole day in the event. With such young and dedicated volunteers, we couldn’t achieve anything but great results. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION! NETWORKING One of the main reasons why we do such events is to gather all professionals in one place. Networking is what everyone wants because through this way of networking, we can meet incredible people in one place. It is amazing feeling to share your knowledge with others and exchange thoughts on various topics. Meet and talk to interesting people. I have had very special moments with many attendees especially after my presentation. Special Thank You to all of them who come to meet me in person, whether to ask a question, say congrats for my session or simply meet me and just smile :)… everything counts! Thank You! TWITTER During the event, twitter was one of the most useful event-wide communication tool where everyone could tweet with hash tag #mkcodecamp or #mkdotnet and say what he/she wants to say about the current state and happenings at that moment… In my next blog post I will list the top craziest tweets that were posted at this event… FUTURE OF MKDOT.NET Having such strong community around MKDOT.NET, the future seems very bright. The initial plans are to have sub-groups in several technologies, however all these sub-groups will belong to the MKDOT.NET UG which will be, somehow, the HEAD of these sub-groups. We are doing this to provide better divisions by technologies and organize ourselves better since our community is very big, around 500 members in MKDOT.NET.We will have five sub-groups:- Web User Group (Lead:Hajan Selmani - me)- Mobile User Group (Lead: Filip Kerazovski)- Visual C# User Group (Lead: Vekoslav Stefanovski)- SharePoint User Group (Lead: Darko Milevski)- Dynamics User Group (Lead: Vladimir Senih) SUMMARY Online registered attendees: ~1.200 Event attendees: ~800 Number of members in organization: 40+ Organized by: MKDOT.NET User Group Number of tracks: 5 Number of speakers: 24 Number of sessions: 25 Event official website: http://codecamp.mkdot.net Total number of sponsors: 20 Platinum Sponsors: Microsoft, INETA, Telerik Place held: FON University City and Country: Skopje, Macedonia THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF THE BEST EVENT IN MACEDONIA, CODE CAMP 2011. • Working with Legacy code #4 : Remove the hard dependencies

    - by andrewstopford
During your refactoring cycle you should be seeking out the hard dependencies that the code may have, examples of these can include. File System Database Network (HTTP) Application Server (Crystal) Classes that service these kind (or code that can be abstracted to a class) of these kind of dependencies should be wrapped in an interface for easier mocking. If you team starts refering to the interface version of these classes the hard dependency will over time work it's self free.

  • Unit testing code paths

    - by Michael
When unit testing using expectations, you define a set of method calls and corresponding results for those calls. These define the path through the method that you want to test. I have read that unit tests should not duplicate the code. But when you define these expectations, isn't that duplicating the code, or at least the process? How do you know when you're duplicating functionality under test?

  • Emphasize Some Comments - but not Dirty the Code

    - by Jon Sandness
I'm having trouble structuring my comments at the moment. I have major sections of the code that, when scrolling through the document, I want to be able to see those stand out. Examples: This is a normal comment: int money = 100; //start out with 100 money - This is a comment to emphasize a certain part of the code: /****** Set up all the money ******/ But I don't like that this isn't very clean. Is there a standard way of setting up this type of a comment?

  • What's the best language combo for code generation?

    - by Peter Turner
I read through Code Generation in Action but never bothered to make anything of it because Ruby just doesn't fit with my lifestyle at this juncture. The book came out more on the cusp of the C# revolution, and it said that C# "was a language designed to be generated", apparently using Ruby as the generator language. In your experience, what is the ideal combination of languages to generate the most useful code?

  • Quality of Code in unit tests?

    - by m3th0dman
Is it worth to spend time when writing unit tests in order that the code written there has good quality and is very easy to read? When writing this kinds of tests I break very often the Law of Demeter, for faster writing and not using so many variables. Technically, unit tests are not reused directly - are strictly bound to the code so I do not see any reason for spending much time on them; they only need to be functionaly.

  • What should come first: testing or code review?

    - by Silver Light
Hello! I'm quite new to programming design patterns and life cycles and I was wondering, what should come first, code review or testing, regarding that those are done by separate people? From the one side, why bother reviewing code if nobody checked if it even works? From the other, some errors can be found early, if you do the review before testing. Which approach is recommended and why? Thank you!

  • How can I change the default keyboard layout in Ubuntu 10.10?

    - by startoftext
Ubuntu keeps detecting my keyboard layout as Romanian. It almost always does this on a reboot and some times on waking from sleep. Some times it just randomly changes back to Romanian while the computer is on. I always set it back to "USA" in the keyboard preferences and delete the Romanian layout. What files configure this in Ubuntu? I looked in xorg.conf and did not find any keyboard settings. How can I set this to USA permanently? I have a laptop with a typical US layout built in keyboard and I also have an apple keyboard that is also US layout connected via USB. I have run other distributions on this same setup before and never had this happen.

  • Android programming - How to acces [to draw on] XML view in main.xml layout, using code

    - by user556248
Ok I'm a newbie at Android programming, have a hard time with the graphics part. Understand the beauty of creating layout in XML file, but lost how to access various elements, especially a View element to draw on it. See example of my layout main.xml here; <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/root" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/Title" android:text="App title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#000000" android:background="#A0A0FF"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/PaperLayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:orientation="horizontal" android:focusable="true"> <View android:id="@+id/Paper" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/File" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="34dp" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:clickable="true" android:textSize="10sp" android:text="File" /> <Button android:id="@+id/Edit" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="34dp" android:clickable="true" android:textSize="10sp" android:text="Edit" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> As you can see I have a custom app title bar, then a View filling middle, and finally two buttons in bottom. Catching button events and responding to, for example changing title bar text and changing View background color works fine, but how the heck do I access and more importantly draw on the view defined in main.xml UPDATE: That for your suggestion, however besides that I need a View, not ImageView and you are missing a parameter on canvas.drawText and an ending bracket, it does not work. Now this is most likely because you missed the fact that I am a newbie and assuming I can fill in any blanks. Now first of all I do NOT understand why in my main.xml layout file I can create a View or even a SurfaceView element, which is what I need, but according to your solution I don't even specify the View like Anyways I edited my main.xml according to your solution, and slimmed it down a bit for simplicity; <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/root" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/Title" android:text="App title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#000000" android:background="#A0A0FF"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/PaperLayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:orientation="horizontal" android:focusable="true"> <com.example.MyApp.CustomView android:id="@+id/Paper" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <com.example.colorbook.CustomView/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/File" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="34dp" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:clickable="true" android:textSize="10sp" android:text="File" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> In my main java file, MyApp.java, I added this after OnCreate; public class CustomView extends ImageView { @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { super.onDraw(canvas); canvas.drawText("Your Text", 1, 1, null); } } But I get error on the "CustomView" part; "Implicit super constructor ImageView() is undefined for default constructor.Must define an explicit constructor" Eclipse suggests 3 quick fixes about adding constructor, but none helps, well it removes error but gives error on app when running. I hope somebody can break this down for me and provide a solution, and perhaps explain why I can't just create a View element in my main.xml layotu file and draw on it in code.
