  • How can I get a list of default documents in IIS using PowerShell?

    I'm managing a Server Core machine and trying to do everything in PowerShell, which is fun. I need a list of the default documents. From other websites, I've found out how to set and remove them, using both xxx-WebConfiguration and xxx-WebConfigurationProperty. I've tried: Get-WebConfigurationProperty -Filter /system.webServer/defaultDocument -PSPath "IIS:\sites\Default Web Site" -Name files but it gives: Collection : {Microsoft.IIs.PowerShell.Framework.ConfigurationElement, Microsoft.IIs.PowerShell.Framework.Configuration Element, Microsoft.IIs.PowerShell.Framework.ConfigurationElement, Microsoft.IIs.PowerShell.Framework.Confi gurationElement...} ItemXPath : /system.webServer/defaultDocument Attributes : {} ChildElements : {} ElementTagName : files Methods : Schema : Microsoft.IIs.PowerShell.Framework.ConfigurationElementSchema which doesn't really help.

  • PHP suddenly failed after IIS update

    All my application pools were stopped this morning after I got to work. I can restart them, but when I try to load the website the app pool crashes again. Update: I've looked in the GAC as the error below suggests and it seems that the file is not there. How do I get it back? Update 2: I found a further error in the event log saying The Module name FastCgiModule path C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\iisfcgi.dll returned an error from registration. The data is the error. So following the information from here http://forums.iis.net/t/1153937.aspx I removed CGI and my sites are working again. This has fixed the initial problem, but now I don't have FastCGI so I'm fairly sure that PHP will no longer be working (I don't have any PHP at the moment to test).   • Software for analyzing IIS logs?

    I have a ton of IIS monthly logs. Can someone recommend software that can help me analyze them (e.g. visitors, os/browser statistics, all the standard stuff)? I'd like a piece of software that does not require me to setup a server or anything complicated. Simply point it to a file or folder and it'll do the rest. Back in the day (90s) there was something like that, but I can't find it now. Thanks

    IIS 7.5: Ftp Firewall Suport: Data Ranges 49152-65535 using external Ip of Amazon EC2 static IP Ftp IPv4 Restriction: allow: Amazon EC2 static IP Ftp Authentication: Anonymous: Enabled, Basic: Disabled, IISMgr: Enabled Ftp Authorization: Allow All Users: Read/Write Windows Firewall (Inbound): Open port 21 Open port ranges: 49152-65535 (Outbound) Open port: 20 Amazon EC2 Security Group: Custom TCP Rule: 21 Custom TCP Rule: 49152-65535 It works on Internet Explorer when I typed the address: ftp://localhost on the server but when I entered the Amazon EC2 Static IP (ftp://IPADRESS) it doesnt connect. I cant connect also to FileZilla

  • CPU Limits for Application Pools in IIS 7.5

    I see that in iis 7.5 I can set a CPU % utilization limit for a specified amount of time for an application pool. I can have also have it kill the worker process if this limit is violated. If tell it to do this, will the worker process automatically restart after it is killed, or is manual intervention required? Over at Stack Overflow there is the mention that it can restarted at the completion of the interval...

    I am trying to get IIS 6 to serve up PHP pages. I have followed: http://www.iisadmin.co.uk/?p=4&page=3 But now with PHP 3.2 I dont see PHPisapi.dll anyplace so it doesn't work. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I downloaded the .zip for 5.3 Windows non-thread safe and manually put in at c:\PHP. I am stumped.

  • Trailing dots in url result in empty 404 page on IIS

    I have an ASP.NET site on IIS8, but IIS7.5 behaves exactly the same. When I enter a URL like: mysite.com/foo/bar.. I get the following error with a '500 Internal Server Error' status code: even though I have custom error pages set up for 500 and 404 and I don't see anything wrong with my custom error page. In my web.config system.web node I have the following: <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/404.aspx" /> </customErrors> If I remove that section, I get a 404.0 response back but the page itself is blank. In web.config system.webServer I have: <httpErrors errorMode="DetailedLocalOnly"> <remove statusCode="404" subStatusCode="-1" /> <error statusCode="404" prefixLanguageFilePath="" path="404.html" responseMode="File" /> </httpErrors> But whether that is there or not, I get the same blank 404.0 page rather than my expected custom error page, or at least an internal IIS message. So first of all why is the asp.net handler picking up a request for '..' (also works with one or more trailing dots) If I remove the following handler from applicacationHost.config: <add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG" type="System.Web.Handlers.TransferRequestHandler" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0" responseBufferLimit="0" /> I get my expected custom 404 page, but of course removing that handler breaks routing in asp.net among other things. Looking at the failure trace I see: Windows Authentication is disabled for the site, so why is that module even in the request pipeline? For now my fix is to use the URL Rewrite module with the following rule: <rewrite> <rules> <rule name="Trailing Dots" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="\.+$" /> <action type="Rewrite" url="/404.html" appendQueryString="false" /> </rule> </rules> </rewrite> This works okay, but I wonder why IIS/ASP.NET behaves this way?

While I know we would see possibly more power running ruby on rails under a Linux machine, the requirements depend on me using Windows.
