  • Javascript: Make Rows Draggable Through Input Field Handles

    I have created a table with draggable rows. Unfortunately, most of the rows are covered with a large textbox input element. In order to drag the rows, you have to grab the row on the very edge just outside of the textbox. Is there a way to allow the rows to be grabbed through the textboxes without destroying the textbox functionality? (i.e. relay the mouse drag event, but not the mouseclick event?)

I'd like something like: Type a number Number: 3x10 = 30 The "x10 = 30" is added after the user inputs the number.. The problem is I can't do it on the same line (and I'd like to do it).     I am creating an interpreter for my esolang, and I need the user to enter some text which then will be interpreted as an INTERCAL program. I want the user to enter text, which may contain any character including newlines, until the user presses ^X (Ctrl-X), like this: Enter your code followed by ^X: Bla Blablabla Bla^X Thank you for entering your code (line 2, 3 and 4 were entered by the user) can anyone explain me how I can read input including newlines till the user enters ^X?     Since input and raw_input() stop the program from running anymore, I want to use a subprocess to run this program... while True: print raw_input() and get its output. This is what I have as my reading program: import subprocess process = subprocess.Popen('python subinput.py', stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) while True: output=process.stdout.read(12) if output=='' and process.poll()!=None: break if output!='': sys.stdout.write(output) sys.stdout.flush() When I run this, the subprocess exits almost as fast as it started.     I'm experimenting with a DOS batch file to perform a simple operation which requires the user to enter a non-negative integer. I'm using simple batch-file techniques to get user input: @ECHO OFF SET /P UserInput=Please Enter a Number: The user can enter any text they want here, so I would like to add some routine to make sure what the user entered was a valid number. That is... they entered at least one character, and every character is a number from 0 to 9. I'd like something I can feed the UserInput into. At the end of the routine would be like an if/then that would run different statements based on whether or not it was actually a valid number. I've experimented with loops and substrings and such, but my knowledge and understanding is still slim... so any help would be appreciated. I could build an executable, and I know there are nicer ways to do things than batch files, but at least for this task I'm trying to keep it simple by using a batch file.

    I have several javascript functions to validate the input data in textbox, so it will limit the user to type into the textbox a range of numbers (eg. from 0 to 500) an x amount of decimals (eg. 1 or 2 or 3 ....). I am having some issues with the javascript functions because they are three separate functions and the alerts get a bit mixed up. I was wondering if there is a jquery function that will make it neat, effective and simple. Thanks.

    I'm writing an XNA application with C#, and I want to be able to control the application with a graphics tablet. All I need to be able to do is track the position and pressure of the pen on the tablet, it would be nice to have some built in gesture recognition but I'm willing to build that myself if needed. My first attempt at this was to use the vbtablet library. However, when I sent this to a friend it failed to work. It seems that the underlying technology is quite old and not supported by some tablets. My second attempt is to play with the Microsoft.Ink system. This looks promising, but I know very little about this subject and I'm struggling to make it work properly - for example I can't find how to read the raw tablet input and disable mouse pointer mode on the tablet when using an InkOverlay. What's the best system to use and what good documentation is there for a beginner in this field?

Is there is technique to set a default value for that field, preferably a space (I am running into weird formatting issues with CSS). The html form way of value="" doesn't work, neither does setting a default value in the XML schema.   • Best Practice - Validating Input In Simple GUI Application?

    I'm writing a GUI app with wxwidgets in C++ for one of my programming classes. We have to validate input and throw custom exceptions if it doesn't meet certain conditions. My question is, what is best practice when it comes to this? Should I write a seperate function that checks for errors, and have my event handler's call that function? Or should I do my error-checking in my event handlers? Or does it really matter? Thanks!

    I am trying to learn C# coming from C++. I am writing just some basic console stuff to get a feel for it and was wondering if it is possible to do simple chaining of inputs in C#. For example in C++: cout<<"Enter two numbers: "; cin >> int1 >> int2; You could then just input 3 5 and hit enter and the values will be fine. In C# however I have to split it up(as far as I can tell) like this: Console.Write("Enter the first number: "; int1 = (char)Console.Read(); Console.Writeline(""); Console.Write("Enter the second number: "; int2 = (char)Console.Read(); Maybe I am just missing something.

  • jQuery Date Picker where text input is read only

    Hi all, I want to use the Jquery datepicker. I've got it setup using an the alt field option. I'm displaying Y-M-D in the text field, but submitting Y-M-D. Everything works fine so far, sending the correct data, etc. However I want to stop the user from being able to manually type a date. I add originally set the INPUT field to disabled, which worked in every browser except IE. In IE it would popup the date picker but then not close after clicking a date. Does anyone know the best way to do this?
