  I have installed the LAMP stack on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS using the tasksel command. I checked - it works. But I cant find the location of the installaton, I worked with WAMP - there you have a separate folder for Apache, for PHP and for mysql. Now I cant even find where to put the documents I create. Which folder is used to contain my web projects? How to start MySQL console and where to look for its installation directory? Which directories are PHP and Apache installed in? how to erase LAMP stack? I found out that some of the parts of the stack are installed in the root/var and root/etc directories: How can I install the whole LAMP stack in /home?

• Move the location of the XYZ pivot point on a mesh in UDK

  When working with any mesh, you get an XYZ point somewhere on it. If you just want to move the mesh in any direction, it doesn't matter where this point is located. However, I want to rotate a door. This requires the point of rotation to be very specific. I can't find anywhere how to change the location of the point. Can anyone help? EDIT: solved, to change the pivot point, right click on the mesh, go to "Pivot" and move it. Then right click again and this time select "Save PrePivot to Pivot"

• Skype does not save user configuration

  On Ubuntu 10.10, I have recently started to experience this problem: For some reason Skype won't save any settings except "Sign in on startup". When Skype starts and tries to sign in it is unsuccessful (it shows incorrect password, in red) every time (I have provided the correct password). I always have to click to show contacts in groups, it does not remember it. Every time I have to go to options and update some notification settings. I know all these things should be "remembered" by Skype - this problem started only recently. I don't recall fiddling with any permissions that could have likely caused that. Do you know what the problem might be? I uninstalled (marking for complete configuration removal) and re-installed Skype, but it still remembers my username (why??). Can I find Skype configuration files on the filesystem somewhere and change permissions for them - or even better - edit the files to set what I want?

• Howto save AlsaMixer settings ?

  Hello I have tryed out the programm "EarCandy", now I had/have a lot of problems. At first I did not get any sound and now it is very low volume. PS Earcandy is now deleted from my harddisk. When Im opening the Alsamixer with: alsamixer I see that the volume for the speakers is zero. Now I push it to the max volume. But after every restart, I have to open alsamixer again and have to set the volume to max again. Can I save the settings for alsamixer or is there any other way to fix the problem ?

  AFAIK, there are 2 ways to make search engines aware of a sitemap's location: Include an absolute link to it in robots.txt Submit it to them directly. The relevant URLs are: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ping?sitemap=SITEMAP_URL http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?sitemap=SITEMAP_URL Where SITEMAP_URL is the absolute URL of the sitemap. Currently, I do both. Regarding (2), I have a job that runs automatically every day which submits the sitemap to Bing and Google. I don't think there's any reason to do (1) and (2), but I'm paranoid, so I do. I imagine you can avoid both (1) and (2) if you just make your sitemap accessible at a conventional URL (like robots.txt). What's the simplest and most reliable way to ensure that search engines can find your sitemap?

• I Can't run the Netbeans but I installed successfully

  I'm new to Ubuntu as well as Netbeans. I installed Netbeans, and I've made sure to install all the JDKs and JREs I could find. It installed without errors. I also saw this question and made sure I followed all the instructions there as well. I never got any error messages of any kind. So far as I know, it installed okay. However, when I try to run Netbeans, I get the message in the bottom of the Netbeans IDE like this: ant -f /root/NetBeansProjects/samp1 -Djsp.includes=/root/NetBeansProjects/samp1/build/web/one.jsp -DforceRedeploy=false -Dclient.urlPart=/one.jsp -Ddirectory.deployment.supported=true -Djavac.jsp.includes=org/apache/jsp/one_jsp.java -Dnb.wait.for.caches=true run /root/NetBeansProjects/samp1/nbproject/build-impl.xml:774: The libs.CopyLibs.classpath property is not set up. • AMD control center doesn't save preferences

  Everytime when I edit the monitor preferences in AMD to multi-monitor or to a multidesktop, when I press save or apply the program just closes with no errors and the preferences hasn't been saved. If I try to do it via the Displays app that is built-in in ubuntu 11.10 I get the following error: The selected configuration for displays could not be applied required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(2560, 1024), minimum=(320, 200), maximum=(1280, 1280) I don't know if it helps but my graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 4800 and my monitors are both 1280x1024. I'm running the proprietary driver without post-release updates because I always get an error trying to install that one.

  I'm a new user to Ubuntu and I have a problem: I had Windows XP in my computer and I had two partitions: C (for system data) and D(for my personal stuff), then, during the Ubuntu installation I chose the Advanced Settings and formated C partition and left D partition intact, went back and chose Install Ubuntu and replace Windows and it installed fine. The problem is that now I open Nautilus and go to Computer, in there it shows my D partition, 640 Hard Disk, but when I try to mount it displays me a message: "Unable to mount location. Can't mount file". I ask you to explain me step-by-step what I need to do because I'm not an advanced user. My computer specs: 2 GiB RAM, Proccesor Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz × 2, Graphics Unknow (It's Nvidia GeForce 220 {1GB} or something), OS type 32-bit, Disk 628.0 GB P.S.: My HDD is internal, I'm not using external Hard Drives. If I just put it after commitAnimations then the animation doesn't fully complete. Any suggestions? I'm not using any frameworks like cocos2d and if you need to see any more code just ask.

  I have a MFC CMap object, each object stores 160K~ entries of long data. I need to store it on Oracle SQL. we decided to save it as a blob. since we do not want to make additional table. we also thought about saving it as local file and point the SQL column to that file, but we rather just keep it as blob on the server and clear the table every couple of weeks. The table has a sequential key as ID, and 2 column of time. I need to add the blob column in order to store on every row that CMap. Can you recommend a guide to do so (read/write Map to blob or maybe a clob) ? Thanks.

  I am looking to install mediawiki on a production server (after doing a test on a development one). I could not really understand why the default location for the mediawiki files is /var/lib/mediawiki. I would have thought /var/www would've made more sense. I did some research and in http://people.canonical.com/~cjwatson/ubuntu-policy/policy.html/ch-customized-programs.html#s-web-appl it says the following Web Document Root Web Applications should try to avoid storing files in the Web Document Root. Instead they should use the /usr/share/doc/package directory for documents and register the Web Application via the doc-base package. If access to the web document root is unavoidable then use /var/www Can anyone explain why this is please?

• How to set Delphi WebBrowser Base directory different that HTML location

  I have a Delphi program that creates HTML files. Later when a button is pressed a TWebBrowser is created and a WebBrowser.Navigate causes the html page to display. Is there anyway to set the WebBrowser "default directory" so it will always be the location of the Delphi executable not the HTML file? I do not want to set the Base value in the HTML to a hardcoded value because then when the HTML is ran from another Delphi exe they are not found. for example: if the exe is run from D:\data\delphi\pgm.exe then the base location D:\data\delphi\ and the jpgs are at D:\data\delphi\jpgs\ but if the exe is run from: C:\stuff\pgm.exe i want the base location to be C:\stuff\ and the jpgs to be at C:\stuff\jpgs\ So I cannot write a line in the HTML with the base location since when it is ran from another exe it would point to wrong location for that exe. So I either need to set the base location when I create the webbrowser and before I read the HTML or I need a way to pass into the webbrowser the location where I can then set the base location. Sorry for being so long-winded but I could not figure out how to saw what I needed.
