  • Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

    This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first.   • Best practice for sharing code between OSX and IOS app

    I am creating an iOS version of an existing OSX app and am wondering what the best practices are for sharing code between the two. The code in question only depends on the foundation framework and the Sqlite dynamic library, so it should compile and run fine on both platforms. It seems to me there are three possible options: Create a single project with and OSX and an IOS targets, add source files to each target as appropriate. Create two separate projects for the OSX and IOS apps, put shared code in a common location in the workspace and add it as reference to both projects. Create three projects: OSX app, IOS app and a shared static library with an OSX and an IOS targets; add each library target to the respective application. Is there any reason one of the above approaches may be better than the other two? If not, option 2 seems to be the simplest by far.

  • iPhone image app not releasing memory as in instruments using imageNamed

    hi, im building iPhone app that downloads images (UIImageView) from internet and adding them to UIScrollView. This scroll view could contain 20 or more UIImageViews. Iam adding UIImages to UIImageView like this: UIImageView *newView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage: image]; Then I just scroll these images like in photo app. Problem is, when I put just 3 UIImageViews in UIScrollView everything works fine, but when I put more images, more memory is used, so that app can crash after 15 or more images. I can understand it that more images alloc more memory, but in Instruments i get allocated max 2-3 MB, but in device memory raises until it crashes. When I use simulator for OS 3.0 i can see memory rising like on device. On higher versions I dont see this memory raise, why is that?

Lets say IRepository has two implementations RealRepository and MockRepository ForRequestedType() .TheDefaultIsConcreteType(); I want to have a switch in app.config / web.config say (Mock=1), which changes all real repositories implementation to ForRequestedType() .TheDefaultIsConcreteType(); I don't want to write whole plugin definition in app.config, just want one switch, how do I implement this?

    I am using PopupManager in FB4 to display a custom dialog. popwin = new TitleWindow(); popwin.addElement(myCustomDialog); PopUpManager.addPopUp(popwin,this,false); PopUpManager.centerPopUp(popwin); It's possible to drag the popped up TitleWindow and let go of it when its gray title bar lies outside the bounds of the Flex app rectangle, and then the popup cannot be grabbed again. It's also possible to drag the TitleWindow downwards so it becomes completely invisible below the bottom edge of the Flex app rectangle. When the Flex app bounds are less than the full browser window, and the user is working quickly, this chances of this happening increase. Is there a simple setting that will keep this from happening, or must the programmer intercept the behavior during the drag operation? Thanks Tim

    I just ran into trouble with the AreaDescriptionFilter of Spark using MVC 2 Beta. The following line is from my Application.spark file. It results in the view engine looking in all possible locations of the view - except in the folders of the area "Shell". # Html.RenderAction("ShowMainMenu", "Navigation", new { area = "Shell" }); Running the same action using http://localhost/Shell/Navigation/ShowMainMenu executes fine and recognizes the area's view directory as expected. Any ideas how to fix this?

    I am querying the __Stat_Kind__ kind. It does not return me entities about kinds that currently exist in the datastore but it includes entities about kinds that I had deleted more than a week ago. I am not so much concerned about it returning me the non-existent kinds - the doc does mention this scenario after all. But I am concerned that it does not return me info about my current kinds. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong? To folks on the app engine team: Also, on the dev server neither __Stat_Kind__ nor __Stat_Total__ return any entities. Which means I need to deploy my app to appspot before I can test this behavior. It would be nice if the dev server did return some basic info. Thanks, Keyur

I have many classes that derive from a base handler: class BaseHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self, CSIN=None): self.body(CSIN) Does this mean that the body() method of every descendant class needs to have the same argument? This is cumbersome. Only one descendant actually uses that argument. And what about when I add new args?   • How do i redirect to a GET request from a POST request on GAE

    Hello everyone, i am writing an FBML app on facebook hosted in GAE. Facebook will talk to your hosted app only vai POST (im sure this is the cause, but please do correct me if i'm wrong). So im faced with the issue that inside of my POST method, i need to redirect to facebook OAuth authroize URL. But i can only send a GET request. How can i do that? At the moment i'm doing class OauthHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def post(self): # blablablab request.redirect(oauth_uri) Which is wrong since the oauth_uri is only responding to GET. Further more, OAuth will redirect back to my redirect handler through GET, but i cant! i can only do post. So i'm confused. ideas? Thanks in advance

    I have been reading some django tutorial and it seems like all the view functions have to go in a file called "views.py" and all the models go in "models.py". I fear that I might end up with a lot of view functions in my view.py file and the same is the case with models.py. Is my understanding of django apps correct? Django apps lets us separate common functionality into different apps and keep the file size of views and models to a minimum? For example: My project can contain an app for recipes (create, update, view, and search) and a friend app, the comments app, and so on. Can I still move some of my view functions to a different file? So I only have the CRUD in one single file?

    My current App is written in Python on GAE which can do Contacts management, Genealogy, Social Networking, Photo sharing, Telecom Integration (SMS, iVRS, URL Billing), CRON and performs business logic operations for our Mobile Apps. Current Architecture indlues python, django, jquery, memcache and few telecom APIs. Now, It feels that an SOA Architecture on GAE using Java would be really ideal and scalable for this kind of App where we want to build new features like widgets that users can turn on or off and third party developers can also develop and deploy features. Please correct me or improve the following design decision: UI (Current plan is GWT) Sessions, Security and ACL (Spring MVC 2.x) Reusable Business Logic components (?) Implementation of Web Services (?) Your advice would really help.

What am i doing wrong here?

  • Any way to rename a deployed ClickOnce app?

    My company has a ClickOnce that has been in use with our customers for about a year now. We're going through a re-branding, and want to change the name of the application. However, just changing all of the normal name options in Visual Studio, and then building a new deploy obviously changes the manifests that the existing app is looking for, so essentially any installed apps never see the new updates. I've tried messing around with the .application file, but haven't been able to get anything to work yet. Is there anyway to rename a deployed ClickOnce app, or do we have to get people to just install the new app?

  • [Gdata] GetAuthSubToken returns None

    Hey guys, I am a little lost on how to get the auth token. Here is the code I am using on the return from authorizing my app: client = gdata.service.GDataService() gdata.alt.appengine.run_on_appengine(client) sessionToken = gdata.auth.extract_auth_sub_token_from_url(self.request.uri) client.UpgradeToSessionToken(sessionToken) logging.info(client.GetAuthSubToken()) what gets logged is "None" so that does seem right :-( if I use this: temp = client.upgrade_to_session_token(sessionToken) logging.info(dump(temp)) I get this: {'scopes': ['http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/'], 'auth_header': 'AuthSub token=CNKe7drpFRDzp8uVARjD-s-wAg'} so I can see that I am getting a AuthSub Token and I guess I could just parse that and grab the token but that doesn't seem like the way things should work.   • Universal iPhone/iPad Windows-based app with Core Data crashes on iPhone SDK 4 beta 3

    Hi all. I installed iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 3. When I create a new Windows-based universal app with Core Data (File New Project Windows-based Application --- select Universal in drop down and check the "Use Core Data for storage" check box) the app launches fine into the iPhone simulator but crashes in the iPad simulator. The console message returned is: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_NSURL Referenced from: /Users/tarfa/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.2/Applications/5BB644DC-9370-4894-8884-BAEBA64D9ED0/Universal.app/Universal Expected in: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/CoreFoundation I'm stumped. Anyone else experiencing this problem?
