• Create iPhone app programmatically, in its entirety

  I recently became interested in iPhone app development, so I've been looking at online tutorials, and also reading a book, trying out the examples as I go along. I'm getting better, but one of the things I still find quite annoying about the usual development model is that I really have no idea what the SDK is really doing behind the scenes to make the app "work" because Apple protects me from this. For example, when I make connections on interface builder, this presumably corresponds to code being generated somewhere... Where that code is and what it does and how it works are not obvious (to me). So I'm wondering, is it possible to create an iPhone app entirely programmatically? That is, have execution start in some main method, which will then programmatically create any views, register event listeners, etc. And if yes, what are some good resources for something like this?

  hi all last week i distributed my first app to the appstore. what i've to see was, that the app language which is shown in appstore is not the right one. my app is just in german, but in appstore english is shown up. can somebody tell me what i've exactly got to do, that the language in the appstore is german? i know i ned a "de.lproj" folder, but i don't know what this folder should contain and what i've got to do step by step to realize that the right way. thanks in advance sean

  Hi there, I'm using this code to implement the like button <fb:like layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="450"></fb:like> But when I try to click it the counter is increased for about 1 second and then it goes back to zero again. I can't see on my facebook profile that i've liked something either. Someone have a solution for this? I'm using the newest JavaScript SDk in an Google App engine/ Django environment.

  Hello, I've just finished my Android widget. Now I need to have different sizes of this wiget for the user to choose from. for example I need a medium, small and large size widget. so when the user install the app and hold the the home screen then choose widget, in the widget menu I want him to see three widget with the same app name but with the size. something like this: helloSmall helloMedium helloLarge I have the medium one ready but how can I make the small and the large in the same app? knowing that all three sizes contain the same exact data and actions just the size and the background are different.   I am using Facebook Python's SDK along with Google App Engine, and making a call to do a checkin: graph.put_object("me", "checkins", message="Hello, world", place="165039136840558", coordinates='{"latitude":"38.2454064", "longitude":"-122.0434404"}') However, this throws an error 400 Bad Request and I don't seem to be able to try catch it so I can have the important information. On a bad request, Facebook should return, an object like below which can help troubleshoot and address the issue, but I am not sure how I can retrieve this object: { "error": { "type" : "OAuthException", "message" : "An active access token must be used to query information about the current user." } }

• Ubuntu: SWT App Can't Load GTK Library

  I have supplied the Linux SWT jar and packaged my app in Eclipse to include swt.jar inside my app's jar. When I try to run it on Ubuntu, I get the following error text (posting only cause): Caused by: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Could not load SWT library. Reasons: no swt-pi-gtk-4234 in java.library.path no swt-pi-gtk in java.library.path /home/nifty/.swt/lib/linux/x86/libswt-pi-gtk-4234.so: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Can't load library: /home/nifty/.swt/lib/linux/x86/libswt-pi-gtk.so This indicates to me it can't load a GTK file, but anything beyond that, and I'm at a loss. I'm only using Ubuntu to test my app, so I know very little.

• DataNucleus Enhancer flakey?

  I'm creating a GWT app in Google App Engine, and using Google data store. Does anybody else have the problem of the DataNucleus being flakey as all get out? I can save a class, and DataNucleus will do it's thing just fine. If I change ANYTHING in the class (even adding whitespace) and then save, I get the following error: DataNucleus Enhancer completed with success for 0 classes. Timings : input=37 ms, enhance=0 ms, total=37 ms. Consult the log for full details DataNucleus Enhancer completed and no classes were enhanced. Consult the log for full details Once I clean my project, DataNucleus is happy again. Is this common when using eclipse? Is there a workaround?

• Symbolicating iPhone App Crash Reports

  I'm looking to try and symbolicate my iPhone app's crash reports. I retrieved the crash reports from iTunes Connect. I have the application binary that I submitted to the App Store and I have the dSYM file that was generated as part of the build. I have all of these files together inside a single directory that is indexed by spotlight. What now? I have tried invoking: symbolicatecrash crashreport.crash myApp.app.dSYM and it just outputs the same text that is in the crash report to start with, not symbolicated. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Use of JPA or JDO instead of the hibernate plugin (I'll have to migrate the Domain classes); which one is better ?   Generally I use lxml for my HTML parsing needs, but that isn't available on Google App Engine. The obvious alternative is BeautifulSoup, but I find it chokes too easily on malformed HTML. Currently I am testing libxml2dom and have been getting better results. Which pure Python HTML parser have you found performs best? My priority is the ability to handle bad HTML over speed.

  Hi, If we had the possibility to run GAE app without any code change on our servlet engine that would be great because: in case that google changes their billing policy we can just jump to our own server or in case their current policy doesn't fit our app needs we can do stuff which is not allowed in the GAE, compromising a 1 JVM, 1 DB We don't actually need a distributed system but more of a realtime system with synchronize, true locking mechanisms, other servers/software installed on the server machine, socket interface etc... Such a package should include at least: TomCat (or equivalent) DataNucleus Access Platform (Task Queue service) Any idea if it's easy to get such a thing or if it's already exist somewhere? Thanks

  Hi All, We have a client side application (Java/Swing) that we need an HTML rendering control for. What I want to find is the most widely adopted, most heavily developed, easiest to deploy solution to get Gecko or WebKit into a Swing app (Needs to run OS X and Windows). The limited (crappy?) JEditPane type solutions are not robust enough for our needs. We would really like to use either WebKit or Gecko. When you right click and select view source in a page that is generated by JavaScript (e.g using GWT) you do not see the dynamically generated HTML. I suppose that if a search engine also cannot see the generated HTML then there is not much to index, right?

• AVPlayer seeking to a different point after app resume

  I have an AVPlayer, the video in it is ~2 seconds long. After the video plays, if the app goes to the background and reenters the foreground I need the video to still be shown exactly as it was when the app was exited. The AVPlayer sticks around just fine, however when I reenter the app from the background the video appears to be seeked to the middle of the video. However, if I just play the video, it starts from the beginning, so it doesn't seem like it actually seeked and is just showing a preview image. I've tried to auto-seek the video to the end on relaunch but nothing happens . Nothing I can figure out or find in the docs would describe this behavior. Any tips on having the video launch either at the beginning or end?

Please, enter our website and ask for an invitation" when a user click on "Register" on our app. However, Apple has rejected our app because it can not has any disabled featured and can not contains word "Beta". What would you do in this situation? I don't know if hide this option and show it only when an API call response says "registerEnabled = YES" or just change the text and use: "You need and invitation to access OUR_APP. • iPhone SDK - How is data shared in a universal app

  Stack overflow I want to make a universal version of my app available, but I am wondering how is data managed between the iPad and the iPhone versions? -Are they completely independent? or if I have a plist in the iPad app, does it also appear in the iPhone app. If so, is there any syncing etc etc. I have a few months experience with single iPad or iPhone apps, but never a universal. • Can you use Github App with Beanstalk?

  Being new to Git, I wanted to use a GUI (Windows based) and preferred the Github App. However, I would like to integrate this site with a Beanstalkapp account. I'm pretty sure this is possible, but I can't figure it out. Inside of the Github app, I navigate to my repository. When I choose "Tools Settings...", I place the Git Clone URL for the repository provided by Beanstalk into the "Primary Remote (origin)" field in my Github app. Now when I click "Publish" (which says "Click to publish this branch to server" when I hover over it) it changes to "Publishing...". After a few seconds, I get this error: server failure The remote server disconnected. Try again later, or if this persists, contact [email protected] I am pretty sure I set the SSH keys up properly (never done this before). I added the key to both the Beanstalkapp and my Github web account.
