What if k is user-defined type, not built-in type? And in what ways the above function calls order is different from this: eat(++k);drink(10);sleep(k); As far as I can say, in both situations, there exists a sequence point after each function call. If so, then why can't the first case is also well-defined like the second one? Section 1.9.17 of the C++ ISO standard says this about sequence points and function evaluation: When calling a function (whether or not the function is inline), there is a sequence point after the evaluation of all function arguments (if any) which takes place before execution of any expressions or statements in the function body. There is also a sequence point after the copying of a returned value and before the execution of any expressions outside the function.

  I runned into a problem with my regular expressions, I'm using regular expressions for obtaining data from the string below: "# DO NOT EDIT THIS MAIL BY HAND #\r\n\r\n[Feedback]:hallo\r\n\r\n# DO NOT EDIT THIS MAIL BY HAND #\r\n\r\n" So far is got it working with: String sFeedback = Regex.Match(Message, @"\[Feedback\]\:(?<string>.*?)\r\n\r\t\n# DO NOT EDIT THIS MAIL BY HAND #").Groups[1].Value; This works except if the header is changed, therefore I want the regex to read from [feedback]: to the end of the string. (symbols, ascii, everything..) I tried: \[Feedback]:(?<string>.*?)$ Above regular expression does work in some regular expression builders online but in my c# code its not working and returns a empty string. can someone help me with this regular expression? thanks in advance

• Replacing multiple patterns in a block of data

  Hi All, I need to find the most efficient way of matching multiple regular expressions on a single block of text. To give an example of what I need, consider a block of text: "Hello World what a beautiful day" I want to replace Hello with "Bye" and "World" with Universe. I can always do this in a loop ofcourse, using something like String.replace functions availiable in various languages. However, I could have a huge block of text with multiple string patterns, that I need to match and replace. I was wondering if I can use Regular Expressions to do this efficiently or do I have to use a Parser like LALR. I need to do this in JavaScript, so if anyone knows tools that can get it done, it would be appreciated.

• Is it possible to change the pane locations in Chrome Developer Tools?

  When debugging browser-based apps using Google Chrome's Developer Tools, is there a way to change the locations of the various panes? E.g., the Watch Expressions, the Call Stack, the code pane, etc.? The defaults are okay (console at bottom, code pane upper left, a column of Watch Expressions, Call Stack, Scope Vars, etc. in the upper right), but I'd rather swap things around a bit of it's possible. There doesn't seem to be anything to grab (other than for sizing) and I haven't found a way in my searching so far, but there are (still) some things about Chrome's options that aren't ... well-advertised in the UI, shall we say :-), especially around developer tools.

• Multiline Find & Replace in Visual Studio

  Can it be done? We're using either VS2005 or VS2008. I don't mean regular expressions - which have their place - but plain old text find & replace. I know we can do it (at a pinch) with regular expressions using the \n tag but prefer not to get tangled up in regex escapes characters, plus there's a readability issue. If it can't be done what plain and simple (free) alternative are people using? That doesn't involve knocking up our own macro.

  I've noticed that MySql has an extensive search capacity, allowing both wildcards and regular expressions. However, I'm in somewhat in a bind since I'm trying to extract multiple values from a single string in my select query. For example, if I had the text "<span>Test</span> this <span>query</span>", perhaps using regular expressions I could find and extract values "Test" or "query", but in my case, I have potentially n such strings to extract. And since I can't define n columns in my select statement, that means I'm stuck. Is there anyway I could have a list of values (ideally separated by commas) of any text contained with span tags? In other words, if I ran this query, I would get "Test,query" as the value of spanlist: select <insert logic here> as spanlist from HtmlPages ...

• jQuery and regex for adding icons to specific links?!

  I'm using jQuery to add icons to specific links, e.g. a myspace icon for sites starting with http://myspace.com etc. However, I can't figure out how to use regular expressions (if that's even possible here), to make jQuery recognize the link either with or without "www." (I'm very bad at regular expressions in general). Here are two examples: $("a[href^='http://www.last.fm']").addClass("lastfm").attr("target", "_blank"); $("a[href^='http://livejournal.com']").addClass("livejournal").attr("target", "_blank"); They work fine, but I now I want the last.fm link to work with http://last.fm, http://www.last.fm and http://www.lastfm.de. Currently it only works for www.last.fm. I also would like to make the livejournal link work with subdomains links like http://username.livejournal.com How can I do that? Thanks in advance!

• Ambiguous Evaluation of Lambda Expression on Array

  I would like to use a lambda that adds one to x if x is equal to zero. I have tried the following expressions: t = map(lambda x: x+1 if x==0 else x, numpy.array) t = map(lambda x: x==0 and x+1 or x, numpy.array) t = numpy.apply_along_axis(lambda x: x+1 if x==0 else x, 0, numpy.array) Each of these expressions returns the following error: ValueError: The truth value of an array with more than one element is ambiguous. Use a.any() or a.all() My understanding of map() and numpy.apply_along_axis() was that it would take some function and apply it to each value of an array. From the error it seems that the the lambda is being evaluated as x=array, not some value in array. What am I doing wrong? I know that I could write a function to accomplish this but I want to become more familiar with the functional programming aspects of python.

  Hi, I am developing an application using PHP but I am new to regular expressions, I could not find a solution to my problem. I want to replace all occurences of #word with a link, i have written a preg_match for this: $text=preg_replace('~#([\p{L}|\p{N}]+)~u', '<a href="/?aranan=$1">#$1</a>', $text); The problem is, this regular expression also matches the html character codes like &#039; and gives corrupt output. I need to exclude the words starting with &# but i do not know how to do that using regular expressions. Thanks for your help.

  I've a PHP library that uses a number of regular expressions featuring the \P expressions for multibyte strings, e.g. ((((?:\P{M}\p{M}*)+?)|(\'[^\']*\')|(\"[^\"]*\"))!)?\$?([a-z]{1,3})\$?(\d+) While this works on most builds, I've had a few reports of the regexp returning an error. Depending on Operating platform, the error messages from PCRE are: Compilation failed: PCRE does not support \L, \l, \N, \P, \p, \U, \u, or \X at offset n or Compilation failed: support for \\P, \\p, and \\X has not been compiled at offset n I know that I can probably test a regexp at the beginning of my code that uses \P, and trap for a returned error, then use that response to set a compatibility flag and provide a degraded (non UTF-8) regexp without the \P within the main body of my code based on that compatibility flag; but I was wondering if there was any simpler way to identify whether PCRE had been built without the --enable-unicode-properties or --enable-utf8 configuration switches. PHP provides access to PCRE_VERSION constant, but that won't help identify whether \P support is enabled or not.

• Using Selenium-IDE with a rich Javascript application?

  Problem At my workplace, we're trying to find the best way to create automated-tests for an almost wholly javascript-driven intranet application. Right now we're stuck trying to find a good tradeoff between: Application code in reusable and nest-able GUI components. Tests which are easily created by the testing team Tests which can be recorded once and then automated Tests which do not break after small cosmetic changes to the site XPath expressions (or other possible expressions, like jQuery selectors) naively generated from Selenium-IDE are often non-repeatable and very fragile. Conversely, having the JS code generate special unique ID values for every important DOM-element on the page... well, that is its own headache, complicated by re-usable GUI components and IDs needing to be consistent when the test is re-run. What successes have other people had with this kind of thing? How do you do automated application-level testing of a rich JS interface? Limitations We are using JavascriptMVC 2.0, hopefully 3.0 soon so that we can upgrade to jQuery 1.4.x. The test-making folks are mostly trained to use Selenium IDE to directly record things. The test leads would prefer a page-unique HTML ID on each clickable element on the page... Training the testers to write or alter special expressions (such as telling them which HTML class-names are important branching points) is a no-go. We try to make re-usable javascript components, but this means very few GUI components can treat themselves (or what they contain) as unique. Some of our components already use HTML ID values in their operation. I'd like to avoid doing this anyway, but it complicates the idea of ID-based testing. It may be possible to add custom facilities (like a locator-builder or new locator method) to the Selenium-IDE installation testers use. Almost everything that goes on occurs within a single "page load" from a conventional browser perspective, even when items are saved Current thoughts I'm considering a system where a custom locator-builder (javascript code) for Selenium-IDE will talk with our application code as the tester is recording. In this way, our application becomes partially responsible for generating a mostly-flexible expression (XPath or jQuery) for any given DOM element. While this can avoid requiring more training for testers, I worry it may be over-thinking things.

• Regex for zeroing in on build output text error

  I'd like to quickly hone in on what failed in a build log output that is nearly 5k lines long, using Notepad++ as my editor for the file. Notepad++ has the nice ability to specify regular expressions, so I am wondering if there is a way to not match: Compile complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings but to match, for example: Compile complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings Compile complete -- 100 errors, 0 warnings where the match would be (1 or more) errors. If this isn't possible, I will probably just write a quick line-by-line parsing tool instead, but I was hoping someone on StackOverflow could whip out a regular expression in the same amount of time - I'm definitely not proficient enough with regular expressions to be able to write one for my needs in a short amount of time.

Syntax used is not essential. It may be "&" or "and" or any other supported with language/library. I need to take different action depending on result of evaluation - is it true or false. Could I use any parser already included with Andorid? Is there some way to use JS "eval" from browser component? Is it possible to use sqlite expressions to get true/false result without selecting anything? Those libraries are implemented in native code. Will it be faster and less battery expensive?

  Update/Note: I think what I'm probably looking for is to get the captures of a group in PHP. Referenced: PCRE regular expressions using named pattern subroutines. (Read carefully:) I have a string that contains a variable number of segments (simplified): $subject = 'AA BB DD '; // could be 'AA BB DD CC EE ' as well I would like now to match the segments and return them via the matches array: $pattern = '/^(([a-z]+) )+$/i'; $result = preg_match_all($pattern, $subject, $matches); This will only return the last match for the capture group 2: DD. Is there a way that I can retrieve all subpattern captures (AA, BB, DD) with one regex execution? Isn't preg_match_all suitable for this? This question is a generalization. Both the $subject and $pattern are simplified. Naturally with such the general list of AA, BB, .. is much more easy to extract with other functions (e.g. explode) or with a variation of the $pattern. But I'm specifically asking how to return all of the subgroup matches with the preg_...-family of functions. For a real life case imagine you have multiple (nested) level of a variant amount of subpattern matches. Example This is an example in pseudo code to describe a bit of the background. Imagine the following: Regular definitions of tokens: CHARS := [a-z]+ PUNCT := [.,!?] WS := [ ] $subject get's tokenized based on these. The tokenization is stored inside an array of tokens (type, offset, ...). That array is then transformed into a string, containing one character per token: CHARS -> "c" PUNCT -> "p" WS -> "s" So that it's now possible to run regular expressions based on tokens (and not character classes etc.) on the token stream string index. E.g. regex: (cs)?cp to express one or more group of chars followed by a punctuation. As I now can express self-defined tokens as regex, the next step was to build the grammar. This is only an example, this is sort of ABNF style: words = word | (word space)+ word word = CHARS+ space = WS punctuation = PUNCT If I now compile the grammar for words into a (token) regex I would like to have naturally all subgroup matches of each word. words = (CHARS+) | ( (CHARS+) WS )+ (CHARS+) # words resolved to tokens words = (c+)|((c+)s)+c+ # words resolved to regex I could code until this point. Then I ran into the problem that the sub-group matches did only contain their last match. So I have the option to either create an automata for the grammar on my own (which I would like to prevent to keep the grammar expressions generic) or to somewhat make preg_match working for me somehow so I can spare that.   I continue to work on a printer for F# quoted expressions, it doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like to see what is possible. The active patterns in Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.Patterns and Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.DerivedPatterns used for decomposing quoted expressions will typically provide MemberInfo instances when appropriate, these can be used to obtain the name of a property, function, etc. and their "declaring" type, such as a module or static class. The problem is, I only know how to obtain the CompiledName from these instances but I'd like the F# name. For example, > <@ List.mapi (fun i j -> i+j) [1;2;3] @> |> (function Call(_,mi,_) -> mi.DeclaringType.Name, mi.Name);; val it : string * string = ("ListModule", "MapIndexed") How can this match be rewritten to return ("List", "mapi")?   In this article, I am going to demonstrate how you can use the XMLOAP services (referred as XOAP from here onwards) provided by weather.com to display the weather information in your website. The XOAP services are available to be used for free of charge, provided you are comply with requirements from weather.com. I am writing this article from a technical point of view. If you are planning to use weather.com XOAP services in your application, please refer to the terms and conditions from weather.com website. In order to start using the XOAP services, you need to sign up the XOAP datafeed. The signing process is simple, you simply browse the url http://www.weather.com/services/xmloap.html. The URL looks similar to the following. Click on the sign up button, you will reach the registration page. Here you need to specify the site name you need to use this feed for. The form looks similar to the following. Once you fill all the mandatory information, click on save and continue button. That’s it. The registration is over. You will receive an email that contains your partner id, license key and SDK. The SDK available in a zipped format, contains the terms of use and documentation about the services available. Other than this the SDK includes the logos and icons required to display the weather information. As per the SDK, currently there are 2 types of information available through XOAP. These services are Current Conditions for over 30,000 U.S. and over 7,900 international Location IDs Updated at least Hourly Five-Day Forecast (today + 4 additional forecast days in consecutive order beginning with tomorrow) for over 30,000 U.S. and over 7,900 international Location IDs Updated at least Three Times Daily The SDK provides detailed information about the fields included in response of each service. Additionally there is a refresh rate that you need to comply with. As per the SDK, the refresh rate means the following “Refresh Rate” shall mean the maximum frequency with which you may call the XML Feed for a given LocID requesting a data set for that LocID. During the time period in between refresh periods the data must be cached by you either in the memory on your servers or in Your Desktop Application. About the Services Weather.com will provide you with access to the XML Feed over the Internet through the hostname xoap.weather.com. The weather data from the XML feed must be requested for a specific location. So you need a location ID (LOC ID). The XML feed work with 2 types of location IDs. First one is with City Identifiers and second one is using 5 Digit US postal codes. If you do not know your location ID, don’t worry, there is a location id search service available for you to retrieve the location id from city name. Since I am a resident in the Kingdom of Bahrain, I am going to retrieve the weather information for Manama(the capital of Bahrain) . In order to get the location ID for Manama, type the following URL in your address bar. http://xoap.weather.com/search/search?where=manama I got the following XML output. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!-- This document is intended only for use by authorized licensees of The –> <!-- Weather Channel. In order to get the weather information, from XOAP,  you need to pass certain parameters to the XOAP service. A brief about the parameters are as follows. Please refer SDK for more details. Parameter name Possible Value cc Optional, if you include this, the current condition will be returned. Value can be anything, as it will be ignored e.g. cc=* dayf If you want the forecast for 5 days, specify dayf=5 This is optional iink Value should be XOAP par Your partner id. You can find this in your registration email from weather.com prod Value should be XOAP key The license key assigned to you. This will be available in the registration email unit s or m (standard or matric or you can think of Celsius/Fahrenheit) this is optional field, if not specified the unit will be standard(s) The URL host for the XOAP service is http://xoap.weather.com. So for my purpose, I need the following request to be made to access the XOAP services. http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/BAXX0001?cc=*&link=xoap&prod=xoap&par=*********&key=************** (The ***** to be replaced with the corresponding alternatives) The response XML have a root element “weather”. Additional to these 4 links, there should be another link with weather channel logo to the home page of weather.com. <cc> - the current condition data. This element will be there only if you specify the cc element in the request. <dayf> - the forcast data as you specified. This element will be there only if you specify the dayf in the request. In this walkthrough, I am going to capture the weather information for Manama (Location ID: BAXX0001). You need 2 applications to display weather information in your website. A Console application that retrieves data from the XMLOAP and store in the SQL Server database (or any data store as you prefer).This application will be scheduled to execute in every 25 minutes using windows task scheduler, so that we can comply with the refresh rate. A web application that display data from the SQL Server database Retrieve the Weather from XOAP I have created a console application named, Weather Service. I created a SQL server database, with the following columns. I named the table as tblweather. You are free to choose any name. Column name Description lastUpdated Datetime, this is the last time when the weather data is updated. This is the time of the service running TemparatureDateTime The date and time returned by XML feed Temparature The temperature returned by the XML feed. TemparatureUnit The unit of the temperature returned by the XML feed iconId The id of the icon to be used. Currently 48 icons from 0 to 47 are available. WeatherDescription The Weather Description Phrase returned by the feed. You just need to create a web application and display the data from the database. I created a new ASP.Net web application with a default.aspx page. In order to comply with the terms of weather.com, You need to use Weather.com logo along with the weather display. You can find the necessary logos to use under the folder “logos” in the SDK. Additionally copy any of the icon set from the folder “icons” to your web application. I used the 93x93 icon set. You are free to use any other sizes available. The design view of the page in VS2010 looks similar to the following. The page contains a heading, an image control (for displaying the weather icon), 2 label controls (for displaying temperature and weather description), 4 hyperlinks (for displaying the 4 promo links returned by the XOAP service) and weather.com logo with hyperlink to the weather.com home page. I am going to write code that will update the values of these controls from the values stored in the database by the service application as mentioned in the previous step. • Get XML from Server for Use on Windows Phone

  When working with mobile devices you always need to take into account bandwidth usage and power consumption. If you are constantly connecting to a server to retrieve data for an input screen, then you might think about moving some of that data down to the phone and cache the data on the phone. An example would be a static list of US State Codes that you are asking the user to select from. Since this is data that does not change very often, this is one set of data that would be great to cache on the phone. Since the Windows Phone does not have an embedded database, you can just use an XML string stored in Isolated Storage. Of course, then you need to figure out how to get data down to the phone. You can either ship it with the application, or connect and retrieve the data from your server one time and thereafter cache it and retrieve it from the cache. In this blog post you will see how to create a WCF service to retrieve data from a Product table in a database and send that data as XML to the phone and store it in Isolated Storage. You will then read that data from Isolated Storage using LINQ to XML and display it in a ListBox. Step 1: Create a Windows Phone Application The first step is to create a Windows Phone application called WP_GetXmlFromDataSet (or whatever you want to call it). On the MainPage.xaml add the following XAML within the “ContentPanel” grid: <StackPanel>  <Button Name="btnGetXml"          Content="Get XML"          Click="btnGetXml_Click" />  <Button Name="btnRead"          Content="Read XML"          IsEnabled="False"          Click="btnRead_Click" />  <ListBox Name="lstData"            Height="430"            ItemsSource="{Binding}"            DisplayMemberPath="ProductName" /></StackPanel> Now it is time to create the WCF Service Application that you will call to get the XML from a table in a SQL Server database. Step 2: Create a WCF Service Application Add a new project to your solution called WP_GetXmlFromDataSet.Services. Delete the IService1.* and Service1.* files and the App_Data folder, as you don’t generally need these items. Add a new WCF Service class called ProductService. In the IProductService class modify the void DoWork() method with the following code: [OperationContract]string GetProductXml(); Open the code behind in the ProductService.svc and create the GetProductXml() method. Using attribute based XML will make the data transferred across the wire a little smaller. You then set the DataSetName property to the top-level element name you want to assign to the XML. You then set the TableName property on the DataTable to the name you want each element to be in your XML. The last thing you need to do is to call the GetXml() method on the DataSet object which will return an XML string of the data in your DataSet object. This is the value that you will return from the service call. The XML that is returned from the above call looks like the following: <Products>  <Product ProductId="1"           ProductName="PDSA .NET Productivity Framework"           IntroductionDate="9/3/2010"           Price="5000" />  <Product ProductId="3"           ProductName="Haystack Code Generator for .NET"           IntroductionDate="7/1/2010"           Price="599.00" />  ...  ...  ... </Products> The GetProductXml() method uses a connection string from the Web.Config file, so add a <connectionStrings> element to the Web.Config file in your WCF Service application. Modify the settings shown below as needed for your server and database name. <connectionStrings>  <add name="Sandbox"        connectionString="Server=Localhost;Database=Sandbox;                         Integrated Security=Yes"/></connectionStrings> The Product Table You will need a Product table that you can read data from. I used the following structure for my product table. Add any data you want to this table after you create it in your database. CREATE TABLE Product(  ProductId int PRIMARY KEY IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,  ProductName varchar(50) NOT NULL,  IntroductionDate datetime NULL,  Price money NULL) Step 3: Connect to WCF Service from Windows Phone Application Back in your Windows Phone application you will now need to add a Service Reference to the WCF Service application you just created. Right-mouse click on the Windows Phone Project and choose Add Service Reference… from the context menu. Click on the Discover button. In the Namespace text box enter “ProductServiceRefrence”, then click the OK button. If you entered everything correctly, Visual Studio will generate some code that allows you to connect to your Product service. On the MainPage.xaml designer window double click on the Get XML button to generate the Click event procedure for this button. In the Click event procedure make a call to a GetXmlFromServer() method. This method will also need a “Completed” event procedure to be written since all communication with a WCF Service from Windows Phone must be asynchronous.  Write these two methods as follows: private const string KEY_NAME = "ProductData"; private void GetXmlFromServer(){  ProductServiceClient client = new ProductServiceClient();   client.GetProductXmlCompleted += new     EventHandler<GetProductXmlCompletedEventArgs>      (client_GetProductXmlCompleted);   client.GetProductXmlAsync();  client.CloseAsync();} void client_GetProductXmlCompleted(object sender,                                   GetProductXmlCompletedEventArgs e){  // Store XML data in Isolated Storage  IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings[KEY_NAME] = e.Result;   btnRead.IsEnabled = true;} As you can see, this is a fairly standard call to a WCF Service. In the Completed event you get the Result from the event argument, which is the XML, and store it into Isolated Storage using the IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings class. Notice the constant that I added to specify the name of the key. You will use this constant later to read the data from Isolated Storage. Step 4: Create a Product Class Even though you stored XML data into Isolated Storage when you read that data out you will want to convert each element in the XML file into an actual Product object. This means that you need to create a Product class in your Windows Phone application. Add a Product class to your project that looks like the code below: public class Product{  public string ProductName{ get; set; }  public int ProductId{ get; set; }  public DateTime IntroductionDate{ get; set; }  public decimal Price{ get; set; }} Step 5: Read Settings from Isolated Storage Now that you have the XML data stored in Isolated Storage, it is time to use it. Go back to the MainPage.xaml design view and double click on the Read XML button to generate the Click event procedure. If the key name exists, then you retrieve the value as a string. Use the XElement’s Parse method to convert the XML string to a XElement object. LINQ to XML is used to iterate over each element in the XElement object and create a new Product object from each attribute in your XML file. The LINQ to XML code also orders the XML data by the ProductName. After the LINQ to XML code runs you end up with an IEnumerable collection of Product objects in the variable named “products”. You assign this collection of product data to the DataContext of the ListBox you created in XAML. The DisplayMemberPath property of the ListBox is set to “ProductName” so it will now display the product name for each row in your products collection. Summary In this article you learned how to retrieve an XML string from a table in a database, return that string across a WCF Service and store it into Isolated Storage on your Windows Phone. You then used LINQ to XML to create a collection of Product objects from the data stored and display that data in a Windows Phone list box. • Fixing Robocopy for SQL Server Jobs

  Robocopy is one of, if not the, best life-saving/greatest-thing-since-sliced-bread command line utilities ever to come from Microsoft.  If you're not using it already, what are you waiting for? Of course, being a Microsoft product, it's not exactly perfect. ;)  Specifically, it sets the ERRORLEVEL to a non-zero value even if the copy is successful.  This causes a problem in SQL Server job steps, since non-zero ERRORLEVELs report as failed. You can work around this by having your SQL job go to the next step on failure, but then you can't determine if there was a genuine error.  Plus you still see annoying red X's in your job history.  One way I've found to avoid this is to use a batch file that runs Robocopy, and I add some commands after it (in red): robocopy d:\backups \\BackupServer\BackupFolder *.bak rem suppress successful robocopy exit statuses, only report genuine errors (bitmask 16 and 8 settings)set/A errlev="%ERRORLEVEL% & 24" rem exit batch file with errorlevel so SQL job can succeed or fail appropriatelyexit/B %errlev% (The REM statements are simply comments and don't need to be included in the batch file) The SET command lets you use expressions when you use the /A switch.  So I set an environment variable "errlev" to a bitwise AND with the ERRORLEVEL value. Robocopy's exit codes use a bitmap/bitmask to specify its exit status.  The bits for 1, 2, and 4 do not indicate any kind of failure, but 8 and 16 do.  So by adding 16 + 8 to get 24, and doing a bitwise AND, I suppress any of the other bits that might be set, and allow either or both of the error bits to pass. The next step is to use the EXIT command with the /B switch to set a new ERRORLEVEL value, using the "errlev" variable.  This will now return zero (unless Robocopy had real errors) and allow your SQL job step to report success. This technique should also work for other command-line utilities.  The only issues I've found is that it requires the commands to be part of a batch file, so if you use Robocopy directly in your SQL job step you'd need to place it in a batch.  If you also have multiple Robocopy calls, you'll need to place the SET/A command ONLY after the last one.  You'd therefore lose any errors from previous calls, unless you use multiple "errlev" variables and AND them together. (I'll leave this as an exercise for the reader) The SET/A syntax also permits other kinds of expressions to be calculated.  You can get a full list by running "SET /?" on a command prompt.
