  Please forgive me as I don't quite remember the exact terms for what I am talking about... hence my question. Recently I worked on a large Agile team where I encountered a method of defining user scenarios (much like user stories). These scenarios were a few very basic short sentences with keywords and a structure that could be understood by humans (especially project managers) and could also be coded against using some Java Framework (for verifying tests). The exact structure of this mini language used keywords like "when" and "and" or "if" which was how the framework parsed and verified the result. The purpose of this framework was to interface between management and the acceptance testing framework. So essentially management could write the tests themselves using English. The scenario went something like this: "When a user visits URL and User clicks on X Something happens (that can be measured)" Can anyone help me remember exactly what I am talking about? Many thanks

• Problem with testing In App with sandbox test account

  Hi, I created a test user account through the Manage User Accounts in iTunes Connect. When you create such an account you have to select a valid storefront for your account. I chose US Store. Now I signed out from the store in App Store settings on my device. Ran the application and tried to perform a purchase. I successfully login with my test account. After I press Confirm when entering my credentials I get an alert, that comes from SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed from the observer. It says "Your account is only valid for purchases in the US iTunes Store". The error state = 0 unknown. Second time when i try to perform the purchase, StoreKit only asks me for a password like the previous login was successful. After entering a password I can perform a purchase. My question is whether it's only because it's a testing account and the application is not actually on AppStore? What should I do to avoid this message or at least to continue the purchasing process?   I'm experimenting with a DOS batch file to perform a simple operation which requires the user to enter a non-negative integer. I'm using simple batch-file techniques to get user input: @ECHO OFF SET /P UserInput=Please Enter a Number: The user can enter any text they want here, so I would like to add some routine to make sure what the user entered was a valid number. That is... they entered at least one character, and every character is a number from 0 to 9. I'd like something I can feed the UserInput into. At the end of the routine would be like an if/then that would run different statements based on whether or not it was actually a valid number. I've experimented with loops and substrings and such, but my knowledge and understanding is still slim... so any help would be appreciated. I could build an executable, and I know there are nicer ways to do things than batch files, but at least for this task I'm trying to keep it simple by using a batch file.

  Is it possible in Asp.NET MVC to proframmatically logout a user? I am aware that you can use: FormsService.SignOut(); But this refers to the context of the webpage making the request. I'm trying to prevent a user logging in twice. So if I call: MembershipUser membershipUser = Membership.GetUser(userName); if (membershipUser.IsOnline == true) { // log this user out so we can log them in again FormsService.SignOut(); } calling: FormsService.SignOut(); has no bearing on the context of the user say, with another webbrowser who is logged in already??

  Hi, Is it possible to extend user's session expiration time in CI. What I want to do is, by default every user's session cookie lasts for example 1 day, but every time user visits the site his session expiration time is extended by one more day. I don't know if it is a good idea to do this, maybe I should just set cookies life time for like a week and that's it? Thanks!

I'm wondering how do i design the best user interface that the user can localize data for various languages? for instance, in making a page which its title is different in every lang, do i put a textbox for every one? it's not a suitable way to do(in case of 10 lang, the user has 10 textbox!!! too silly) what is your idea about this?   I want to integrate AdMob ads in my iPhone app. I'm using IB way to add the view and follow AdMob's pdf guide: 1. Add AdMob group(AdMobView.h,AdMobDelegateProtocol.h,libAdMob.a) 2. Add required frameworks(AudioToolbox,MediaPlayer,MessageUI,QuartzCore) 3. Add TouchJSON group 4. Add IBSupport group(AdViewController.h,AdViewController.m) 5. Add a 320*48 UIView in IB, add NSObject and change its class to AdViewController, link AdViewController's view to the 320*48 UIView and link AdViewController's viewController to current view controller. Now the iPhone simulator can show ads from AdMob, but when I test it on real device, I get the error "AdMob: Did fail to receive ad". I've tried to add test device's UDID to testDevices array, but still get the same error. - (NSArray *)testDevices { return [NSArray arrayWithObjects: ADMOB_SIMULATOR_ID, DEVICE_UDID, nil]; } Is there any problem in the above steps? Does anybody know why can't I get the ads in real device? By the way, what should be changed to build for real for-sale app, not just for test?

• How do i write a sql query with user input and wildcards

  Usually i write my where statements as WHERE key=@0 then add a param. Now i would like the user to specific a few letters such as 'oat' and would like to stick wildcards around it %oat% which matches 'coating'. So how do i write the query so wildcards are around the user input (the 'seachword'). Now lets take it a step further. I would not like the user to write % so he cannot do blah%ing. Perhaps % is part of the sentence (or it could be flat out illegal but i prefer it be part of the sentence). How do i put my wildcards around a word or sentence and disallow the user from putting the wildcard between his words? (and preferably make % part of the sentence) C# ado.net sql/sqlite

  I think I am missing something while using the Authlogic gem w/ Rails. To set the stage I have multiple users and each user can create posts and comments. Upon the display of a post or comment I would like to give the user who created them the option to edit or destroy.   To extend the User object with custom fields, the Django docs recommend using UserProfiles. However, according to this answer to a question about this from a year or so back: extending django.contrib.auth.models.User also works better now -- ever since the refactoring of Django's inheritance code in the models API. And articles such as this lay out how to extend the User model with custom fields, together with the advantages (retrieving properties directly from the user object, rather than through the .get_profile()). So I was wondering whether there is any consensus on this issue, or reasons to use one or the other. Or even what the Django team currently think?

  I recently took an online test on codility as part of a recruitment process. I was given two simple problems to solve in 1 hour. For those who don't know codility, its an online coding test site where you can solve ACM style problems in many different languages. if you have 30 or so mins then check this http://codility.com/demo/run/ My weapon of choice is usually Java. So on of the problems I have is as follows (I will try to remember, should have taken a screenshot) Lets say you have array A[0]=1 A[1]=-1 ....A[n]=x Then what would be the smartest way to find out the number of times when A[i]+A[j] is even where i < j So if we have {1,2,3,4,5} we have 1+3 1+5 2+4 3+5 = 4 pairs which are even The code I wrote was some thing along the lines int sum=0; for(int i=0;i<A.length-1;i++){ for (int j=i+1;j<A.length;j++){ if( ((A[i]+A[j])%2) == 0 && i<j) { sum++; } } } There was one more restriction that if the number of pairs is greater than 1e9 then it should retrun -1, but lets forget it. Can you suggest a better solution for this. The number of elements won't exceed 1e9 in normal cases. I think I got 27 points deducted for the above code (ie it's not perfect). Codility gives out a detailed assessment of what went wrong, I don't have that right now.

• ASP.NET: Custom MembershipProvider with a custom user table

  I've recently started tinkering with ASP.NET MVC, but this question should apply to classic ASP.NET as well. For what it's worth, I don't know very much about forms authentication and membership providers either. I'm trying to write my own MembershipProvider which will be connected to my own custom user table in my database. My user table contains all of the basic user information such as usernames, passwords, password salts, e-mail addresses and so on, but also information such as first name, last name and country of residence. As far as I understand, the standard way of doing this in ASP.NET is to create a user table without the extra information and then a "profile" table with the extra information. However, this doesn't sound very good to me, because whenever I need to access that extra information I would have to make one extra database query to get it. I read in the book "Pro ASP.NET 3.5 in C# 2008" that having a separate table for the profiles is not a very good idea if you need to access the profile table a lot and have many different pages in your website. Now for the problem at hand... As I said, I'm writing my own custom MembershipProvider subclass and it's going pretty well so far, but now I've come to realize that the CreateUser doesn't allow me to create users in the way I'd like. The method only takes a fixed number of arguments and first name, last name and country of residence are not part of them. So how would I create an entry for the new user in my custom table without this information at hand in CreateUser of my MembershipProvider?

• Prevent illegal behavior to the registered user

  I am building a website in which this website will be focused on the publishing of novels. Every writers who publish their novels with us will get a royalty from us. And this royalty comes from the user or the reader who read the novel online in our website. When a user search for a novel and want to read that, they will click a link to the page which its content is that novel. The html page for each novels will have a session function that first will force them to login or register to make a payment such as with a credit-card or paypal before accessing that html page. My problem now is if the user has succesfully login and access the html page, I am afraid if the user will copy the content of the novel. Some disccussion out here How to Disable Copy Paste (Browser) have a solution to create it in Flash so that it can't be coppied-paste. But the I think, if the user who access it is a web developer like us they will try to find the path of the file from the link in the page source, and then they can steal it. For now I think it is enough I am explaining this. I hope anyone fully accept this problem (question) with a good idea to solve it.

• Set focus and carret position in textarea according to mouse position, as if user had clicked

  Once a page with a textarea is loaded, I want some textarea to have the focus immediatly if the mouse cursor is inside that textarea. This is the easy part because a onmousehover handler can set the focus. Now, how to I also set the position of the caret? I would like the caret to be where it would be if the user had clicked using the mouse to set the focus/caret. The basic use case is : User clicks on a link and waits (mouse barely moves) A page is delivered, it contains a big textarea only, full of text User types using keyboard Characters are inserted right below the mouse cursor Today the user has to wait until the caret is visible (at the top left of the textarea) and then click to move the caret before typing.
