  • CorePlot linker errors after upgrading iOS SDK

    This seems like it's happened before but somehow ended up working itself out. It's happened again and I can't seem to get this fixed. I use the CorePlot Cocoa Touch framework. Everything was fine until I upgraded to the new 4.3 beta. Now my project won't compile, and is giving me linker errors for unknown symbols having to do with CorePlot. I've become a pro at adding the framework to my project, and I've checked and rechecked the instructions trying to do it again. Is there a button I can click or anything to just make this work again? I've used these instructions to try to re-add the framework, to no avail EDIT: By the way, this compiles just fine for simulator and runs graphs no problem. My Student class has properties for AcademicYear, TeachingSet, Surname and Forenames, is sorted in that order and also properties for ID and start date.   • Adding AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute To Paypal ASP.NET SDK

    Currently, I cannot use Paypal Pro on my host (GoDaddy) because it requires Full trust level. After digging in Google, it seems a workaround is possible by adding AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute to the Paypal assembly. I have seen code samples that use AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute in their AssemblyInfo.cs file, however, I've yet to run into a code example that also happens to be using PayPal. My question is where should the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute be added in my project if my objective is to make the PayPal assembly work? I have tried adding it to my AssemblyInfo.cs for the project that contains the entire website, but I have not been successful. At this point, any insight or shot in the dark would be greatly appreciated. Even if someone could point me in the general direction of some documentation I would be grateful.   • iPhone SDK: Orientation (Landscape and Portrait views)

    Okay, I've got my normal app which is in portrait mode. I can force my app to go to landscape mode for a view (using navigationcontroller and viewcontroller) like this: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight]; } But then when I go back to the main menu (tableview) it goes straight back to portrait. I try this code: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait]; } But that doesn't work.. Any ideas?

And now I need to decode the string that was encoded before and want to print it.   • Having trouble with event creation using the events.create API with the iPhone SDK

    I'm using the FBConnect library in my iPhone app, and I'm trying to create Facebook events. After getting a valid session and verifying permissions, I'm using events.create and getting what looks like a valid event ID back from FB in a success response. Oddly the event isn't showing up on my account's Events page either in current or in past events. I thought the problem might be that the event might not include me as an attendee so I followed the successful events.create call with an events.rsvp call to set my status to "attending". That also gets back success from FB, but I'm still not seeing anything show up. Am I missing a step? Is there something other than Create and then RSVP that I need to do, or is there an error with the api/Facebook? I don't think I'm missing any of the required fields for event creation (name and start_time) and I am populating a lot of the other fields in event_info...

I have plenty of free time this summer so I was thinking of learning either ASP.NET or Silverlight 4, and get an internship this coming Fall. If you've read my other question here on SO "Financial Market Developer Dilemma" then you already know that I am planning to work in the financial industry a few years from now. So my questions are: Which technology would benefit me more in the long term: Silverlight or ASP.NET? Which one pays more $$$? Which one has higher demand?   • GAE Datastore: persisting referenced objects

    Two "I'm sorries" to begin with: 1) I've looked for a solution (here, and elsewhere), and couldn't find the answer. 2) English is not my mother tongue, so I may have some typos and the sort - please ignore them. To the point: I am trying to persist Java objects to the GAE datastore. I am not sure as to how to persist object having ("non-trivial") referenced object. That is, assume I have the following. public class Father { String name; int age; Vector<Child> offsprings; //this is what I call "non-trivial" reference //ctor, getters, setters... } public class Child { String name; int age; Father father; //this is what I call "non-trivial" reference //ctor, getters, setters... } The name field is unique in each type domain, and is considered a Primary-Key. In order to persist the "trivial" (String, int) fields, all I need is to add the correct annotation. So far so good. However, I don't understand how should I persist the home-brewed (Child, Father) types referenced. Should I: Convert each such reference to hold the Primary-Key (a name String, in this example) instead of the "actual" object. So, Vector<Child> offsprings; becomes Vector<String> offspringsNames; ? If that is the case, how do I handle the object at run-time? Do I just query for the Primary-Key from Class.getName, to retrieve the refrenced objects? Convert each such reference to hold the actual Key provided to me by the Datastore upon the proper put() operation? So, Vector<Child> offsprings; becomes Vector<Key> offspringsHashKeys; ? I would very much appreciate all kinds of comments. I have read ALL the offical relevant GAE docs/example. Throughout, they always persist "trivial" references, natively supported by the Datastore (e.g. in the Guestbook example, only Strings, and Longs). Many thanks, David

  • How to deal with many to many relationships with NSFetchedResultsController?

    OK so I have two entities in my data model (let's say entityA and entityB), both of these entities have a to-many relationship to each other. I have setup a NSFetchedResultsController to fetch a bunch of entityA. Now I'm trying to have the section names for the tableview be the title of entityB. sectionNameKeyPath:@"entityB.title" Now this causes a problem, where by the section name returned from that relationship appears to be ({title1}) or ({title1,title2...titleN}) obviously depending on how many different entityB's are involved. This doesn't look great in a tableview and doesn't group the objects as I would like. What I would like is a section per entityB title with entityA appearing under each section, under multiple sections if necessary. I'm at a loss as how I am supposed to achieve this whether I need to update the predicate to get the entity to appear multiple times or whether I need to update the section and header functions to do some processing as the controller loops through the objects. Any help is appreciated :) Thanks

    Hi, I would like to create an image of my own. I already know its width (320*2 = 640) and height (427). So I have some raw data : unsigned char *rawImg = malloc(height * width * 4 *2 ); Then, I will fill it :) Then, I have to do something like that to get a bitmap and return a (UIImage *) : ctx = CGBitmapContextCreate(rawImg,width*2,height,8, ???, ???, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast); UIImage * imgFinal = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:CGBitmapContextCreateImage(ctx)]; CGContextRelease(ctx); return imgFinal; But I don't know how to create my context ctx, as you can see with the "???", even tough I read the documentation...   • Drawing individual pixels with iphone sdk.

    Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to make a powder toy style game on the iPhone. My problem is how to draw pixels to the screen. From what I've read, OpenGL is better for games as it is faster/hardware accelerated, but there is no method to draw pixels directly to the screen. Apparently drawing pixels to an off-screen frame buffer is the way to go, but how do I then pass this to OpenGL? Do I use a texture? (this is assuming I have no previous knowledge of iPhone graphics programming). Thanks!

  • iPhoneOS SDK - Remove Corner Rounding from views (iPad problem)

    Hi Guys This might be a little bit picky, but in the iPad SplitViewController setup, there are 2 views. Each of the views has a very small black corner rounding. (This is probably the same with iPhone apps too). This rounding is visible in the image below. What I would like to do is remove the black rounding, so the UI doesnt get these two little bumps along the bottom. Has anyone done this, or know how to? -Its surely possible.   • xstream and ibm j9 sdk incompatibilities on linux

    I encountered an incompatibility with xstream and IBM J9 jdk (the 32bits version). Everything worked fine when I used sun jdk but fails on IBM jdk (on linux only. on windows it's ok with both jdks). When debugging, the error appears to be that xstream uses a java.util.TreeSet internally but the set's iterator returns elements in the wrong order (I know this sounds very strange, but this is the behavior that I saw). Googling for related bugs didn't give any meaningful results I tried upgrading pretty much any component possible but no luck. I tried the following configurations: ibm jdk 1.6 SR 7 (bundled with WebSphere 7.0.0.9), xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.3.1 (I tried those both with tomcat and with WebSphere server, so actually there are 6 configurations using IBM jdk). The code in question is in class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.DefaultConverterLookup, around line 44. It uses an iterator from class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.util.PrioritizedList, which uses a custom comparator, but all the comparator does is compare integers (the priorities). Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what can I do or change?
