  • How to change quicksort to output elements in descending order?

    - by masato-san
    Hi, I wrote a quicksort algorithm however, I would like to make a change somewhere so that this quicksort would output elements in descending order. I searched and found that I can change the comparison operator (<) in partition() to other way around (like below). //This is snippet from partition() function while($array[$l] < $pivot) { $l++; } while($array[$r] > $pivot) { $r--; } But it is not working.. If I quicksort the array below, $array = (3,9,5,7); should be: $array = (9,7,5,3) But actual output is: $array = (3,5,7,9) Below is my quicksort which trying to output elements in descending order. How should I make change to sort in descending order? If you need any clarification please let me know. Thanks! $array = (3,9,5,7); $app = new QuicksortDescending(); $app->quicksort($array, 0, count($array)); print_r($array); class QuicksortDescending { public function partitionDesc(&$array, $left, $right) { $l = $left; $r = $right; $pivot = $array[($right+$left)/2]; while($l <= $r) { while($array[$l] > $pivot) { $l++; } while($array[$r] < $pivot) { $r--; } if($l <= $r) {// if L and R haven't cross $this->swap($array, $l, $r); $l ++; $j --; } } return $l; } public function quicksortDesc(&$array, $left, $right) { $index = $this->partition($array, $left, $right); if($left < $index-1) { //if there is more than 1 element to sort on right subarray $this->quicksortDesc($array, $left, $index-1); } if($index < $right) { //if there is more than 1 element to sort on right subarray $this->quicksortDesc($array, $index, $right); } } }

  • How can I modify input before model binding in asp.net mvc?

    - by David G
How can I intercept submitted form input and modify it before it is bound to my model? For example, if I wanted to trim the whitespace from all text. I have tried creating a custom model binder like so: public class CustomBinder : DefaultModelBinder { protected override void SetProperty(ControllerContext controllerContext, ModelBindingContext bindingContext, PropertyDescriptor propertyDescriptor, object value) { string newValue = ((string)value).Trim(); //example code to create new value but could be anything base.SetProperty(controllerContext, bindingContext, propertyDescriptor, newValue); } } but this doesn't seem to be invoked. Is there a better place to modify the input value? Note: I need to modify the value before it is bound and validated.

  • How to change "Dynamic Web Project" default source and output folders in Eclipse?

    - by Leslie Norman
How can I change default values of "source folders on build path" and "default output folder" in "Dynamic Web Project" wizard in Eclipse, probably in the way as we do for "Java Project" in Windows Preferences Java Build Path The purpose is: each time I create new Dynamic Web Project, the wizard should show default source and output folders of my choice. Since this option is available for Java project so I believe there should be something similar for Web Projects too but I am unable to find it. BTW I tried changing defaults of Java project but it does not effect dynamic web projects.

  • Styling the selection color of an input type=text, possible?

    - by Tommy
Having an input <input type="text" id="myTest" value="bla bla bla"/> and doing this (using jQuery) $('#myTest').select(); causes "bla bla bla" to be selected with default dark blue selection color. Now, is there any way I can change this color using css? css3 can change selection using for instance ::-moz-selection { background: #ffb7b7; } but this only works on text in other elements, not in html inputs. Any ideas? /T

  • How to read log4j output to a web page?

    - by Ran
I have a web page, used for admin purposes, which runs a task (image fetching from a remote site). In order to be able to debug the task using the browser only, no ssh etc, I'd like to be able to read all log output from the executing thread and spit it out to the web page. The task boils down to: Changing log level for current thread at the beginning of the call and restore when the call is done. Reading all log output by current thread and storing it in a string. So in pseudocode my execute() method would look like this: (I'm using struts2) public String execute() throws Exception { turnLoggingLevelToDebugOnlyForThisThread() ... do stuff... restoreLoggingLevelForThisThread() String logs = readAllLogsByThisThread(); } Can this be done with log4j? I'm using tomcat, struts2, log4j and slf4j.

  • How to change the JSON output format and how to support chinese character?

    - by sky
    Currently I using the following code to get my JSON output from MySQL. <?php $session = mysql_connect('localhost','name','pass'); mysql_select_db('dbname', $session); $result= mysql_query('SELECT message FROM posts', $session); $somethings = array(); while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $somethings[] = $row; } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> var somethings= <?php echo json_encode($somethings); ?>; </script> And the output is: <script type="text/javascript"> var somethings= [{"message":"Welcome to Yo~ :)"},{"message":"Try iPhone post!"},{"message":"????"}]; </script> Here is the question, how can I change my output into format like : <script type="text/javascript"> userAge = new Array('21','36','20'), userMid = new Array('liuple','anhu','jacksen'); </script> Which I'll be using later with following code : var html = ' <table class="map-overlay"> <tr> <td class="user">' + '<a class="username" href="/' + **userMid[index]** + '" target="_blank"><img alt="" src="' + getAvatar(signImgList[index], '72x72') + '"></a><br> <a class="username" href="/' + **userMid[index]** + '" target="_blank">' + userNameList[index] + '</a><br> <span class="info">' + **userSex[index]** + ' ' + **userAge[index]** + '?<br> ' + cityList[index] + '</span>' + '</td> <td class="content">' + picString + somethings[index] + '<br> <span class="time">' + timeList[index] + picTips + '</span></td> </tr> </table> '; Thanks for helping and reading!

  • Unix - "xargs" - output "in the middle" (not at the end!)

    - by Petike
Hello, example use of "xargs" application in Unix can be something like this: ls | xargs echo which is the same as (let's say I have "someFile" and "someDir/" in the working dir): echo someFile someDir so "xargs" take its "input" and place it "at the end" of the next command (here at the end of echo). But sometimes I want xargs to place its input somewhere "in the middle" of next command. For example: find . -type f -name "*.cpp" -print | xargs g++ -o outputFile so if I had in the current directory files "a.cpp" "b.cpp" "c.cpp" the output would be the same as with the command: g++ -o outputFile a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp but I want to have something like this: g++ a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp -o outputFile Is there a way to do it? P.S.: I need it in some cases, because e.g.: i586-mingw32msvc-g++ -o outputFile `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtkmm-2.4` a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp doesn't work but this one works fine: i586-mingw32msvc-g++ a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp -o outputFile `pkg-config --cflags --libs gtkmm-2.4` Thanks. • Flushing stdin after every input - which approach is not buggy?

    - by Aseem Bansal
While using scanf() in C there is always the problem of extra input lying in the input buffer. So I was looking for a function that I call after every scanf call to remedy this problem. I used this, this, this and this to get these answers //First approach scanf("%*[^\n]\n"); //2ndapproach scanf("%*[^\n]%*c"); //3rd approach int c; while((c = getchar()) != '\n' && c != EOF) /* discard */ ; All three are working as far as I could find by hit-and-trial and going by the references. But before using any of these in all of my codes I wanted to know whether any of these have any bugs?

  • C, reading multiple numbers from single input line (scanf?)

    - by michal
Hi, I'm writing an app in pure C which expects two line at input: first one, which tells how big an array of int will be, and the second, which contains values, separated by space. So, for the following input 5 1 2 3 4 99 I need to create an array containing {1,2,3,4,99} Now, my question is - what is the fastest (yet easy ;)) way to do so? My problem is "how to read multiple numbers without looping through the whole string checking if it's space or a number" ? Thanks m.

  • Using static strings to define input field names in JSPs - good idea or not?

    - by Derek Clarkson
Hi all, I've just be asked to work on a large portal project and have been looking through the established code. I keep finding this in the jsps: <input class="portlet-form-button" name="<%=ModifyUserProfile.FORM_FIRST_TIME_LOGIN_SUBMIT%>" type="submit" ... The authors are using static strings defined in classes to define the names of input fields and buttons in jsp forms. I've never seen this done before and was wondering if this is common practice. I'm inclined to think not, but I'm asking because, apart from centralising names which I would have thought are not likely to change, I can't see the reason why. Any thoughts on this?

  • VST plugin : using FFT on audio input buffer with arbitrary size, how ?

    - by Led
I'm getting interested in programming a VST plugin, and I have a basic knowledge of audio dsp's and FFT's. I'd like to use VST.Net, and I'm wondering how to implement an FFT-based effect. The process-code looks like public override void Process(VstAudioBuffer[] inChannels, VstAudioBuffer[] outChannels) If I'm correct, normally the FFT would be applied on the input, some processing would be done on the FFT'd data, and then an inverse-FFT would create the processed soundbuffer. But since the FFT works on a specified buffersize that will most probably be different then the (arbitrary) amount of input/output-samples, how would you handle this ?

  • How to prompt for input using an existing variable in the prompt.

    - by ldigas
I'm trying to ask the user for a value of some variable, but at the same time, showing him the last value used (at the termination of the program, the values are saved to a file, and loaded at the start of the program). Something like this: Enter new radius value (R=12.6) : ... user enters 12.7 ... Enter new pi value (pi=3.14) : Enter new height value (h=30.0) : Usually I would write the first one with write statement, then read the new one (in Fortran, for example). In MATLAB however, I don't know how to write something out with input statement. Are there some other statements for getting input ?

  • What is a good format for command line output when it is being used for further processing?

    - by Mick
I have written a console application in Delphi that queries information from several locations. This application will be launched by another process, and the output to STDOUT will be captured by the launching process. The information I am retrieving is to be interpreted by the calling application for reporting purposes. What is the best way to output this data to STDOUT so that it can be easily parsed? JSON? XML? CSV? The data, specifically, is remote workstation information, so it will pull things back like running processes, and details about each process. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions?

  • How do I make my browser brute force an input field?

    - by user210904
Hi, There's a website I frequent that gives codes such as GD??Q-TPY32-TPTT3-9CM9P-F2QMQ and hints that the ?? is a number and a letter. If you're the first to unlock the code you can redeem the modest prize. So the obvious way to solve this problem is to brute-force the code. But obviously I don't want to sit in front of the computer for an hour to manually input all 10 * 26 combinations. Is there a way for me to tell my browser to input these codes (assume that each 5-character block is an individual text field). Or is there a special browser that enables some sort of macro-type feature? Thanks.

  • How do I get the output of an Xcode user script to auto indent?

    - by John Gallagher
The Problem I want to press a key when I have a line highlighted and convert from a single line: JGLogEntry *logEntry = [JGLogEntry applicationNoWindowsFrom:date1 to:date2 intoMOC:mockRawMOC]; to a multiline statement: JGLogEntry *logEntry = [JGLogEntry applicationNoWindowsFrom:date1 to:date2 intoMOC:mockRawMOC]; What I've Tried I've got a simple ruby script that almost gets me there. #!/usr/bin/env ruby s = STDIN.read s.gsub!(/(:.+?\w) (\w.+?)/,'\1' + "\n\t" +'\2') print s When I set the output to "Replace Selection", I get this: JGLogEntry *logEntry = [JGLogEntry applicationNoWindowsFrom:date1 to:date2 intoMOC:mockRawMOC]; When I set the output to "Place on Clipboard", then paste it in, I get the desired result: JGLogEntry *logEntry = [JGLogEntry applicationNoWindowsFrom:date1 to:date2 intoMOC:mockRawMOC]; However, this is two keypresses which is clumsy. Any ideas how I can get the replaced text to obey Xcode's auto indent rules?

  • Where can I find "reference barcodes" to verify barcode library output?

    - by mjustin
This question is not about 'best' barcode library recommendation, we use various products on different platforms, and need a simple way to verify if a given barcode is correct (according to its specification). There are some free online bar code generators in the Internet, and I found many differences between their output and our library output regarding graphics and text field below the code. Now I am not sure which one is wrong, and before filing bug report I want to make sure how the correct barcode should look like. We mainly need Code128 and UCC/EAN-128 with A/B/C subcodes. Which resource would you suggest?

  • How do I get the CoreData Debug argument to output to the console?

    - by radesix
According to Apple documentation on debugging Core Data it says we should be able to pass an argument to the application which will output the SQL core data sends to SQLite. I have gone into the arguments tab of my executable in XCode and specified the argument: -com.apple.CoreData.SQLDebug 1 However, I see no SQL in the console. I then tried to use this parameter in the CoreDataBooks application provided by Apple just in case there was some other issue in MY program. Even in Apple's example I get no SQL output in the console. Am I doing something wrong? Is Apple's documentation wrong? Should I be looking someplace other than the console? Has anyone else had success with this argument?

  • input URL, output contents of "view page source", i.e. after javascript / etc, library or command-li

    - by Ryan Berckmans
I need a scalable, automated, method of dumping the contents of "view page source" (DOM) to a file. Programs such as wget or curl will non-interactively retrieve a set of URLs, but do not execute javascript or any of that 'fancy stuff'. My ideal solution looks like any of the following (fantasy solutions): cat urls.txt | google-chrome --quiet --no-gui \ --output-sources-directory=~/urls-source (fantasy command line, no idea if flags like these exist) or cat urls.txt | python -c "import some-library; \ ... use some-library to process urls.txt ; output sources to ~/urls-source" As a secondary concern, I also need: dump all included javascript source to file (a la firebug) dump pdf/image of page to file (print to file)
