• How can I hardcode input with the "select" system call in C?

  If I understand this system call "select" correctly, it will loop waiting for user input from the keyboard or from an outside server. Every time I call "message_loop", I'm going to type in the same few lines of input each time.   I want to try mounting a folder with NFS - I set up the NFS sharing on a windows 2008 R2 server, specified hosts in the NFS permissions (by IP address) and mounted via /etc/fstab it mounts, but when I try to list the folder, I get 'input/output error' the owner/group on the local mount point look weird too? drwx------ 2 4294967294 4294967294 4096 2011-02-10 19:15 data/ I mounted in /etc/fstab as: 10.0.6.55:/share$ /media/data nfs soft,intr,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 What am I doing wrong?

• Does running IIS7 in classic mode affect MVC output caching?

  I have a need to run an application in classic mode for backwards compatibility with a specific application, and am trying to understand what kind of impact that will have on the performance of an MVC application that is running on the site. If we put a few static file maps (for .js, .css, .png, etc) above the ASP.NET wildcard map to reduce the amount of processing by the ASP.NET handler, will we be approaching the integrated mode in terms of performance? The thing i'm primarily concerned with is any effect this might have on output caching. I understand that integrated mode might (?) allow for the output cache to handle non ASP.NET content, but that isn't really a concern. We're more interested in ensuring that the MVC application has full use of the output cache. Empirically i've found that the two configurations operate on par when things go well, but if the page references resources that are not available, the integrated mode tends to fail much more quickly than the classic mode (e.g. 500 ms vs 10 seconds), reducing 'hang time' on the page load. • Android layouts within layouts, with separate classes handling their input?

  Hey all, I have created a program in Java that uses Jpanels within Jpanels. One example of this is having a side view containing buttons that change the main view when pressed. The main view also has buttons that can be used to alter itself. I am trying to re-create this on the android. I have my layout set up from an xml, with a side panel containing buttons and the main view. There is another xml that contains what I want in the main view. Now I am struggling to get this separate xml to be displayed in the main view and can’t figure out how I would get the class to handle its own input. I don’t want to paste the code into the main.xml as I want to keep things object orientated and each view needs some custom elements such as different textviews. An example of what I am trying to convert for the android is below:- //The ViewInt class has its own layout ViewInt tempView = new ViewInt(i, mFloorNo); //The viewInt class is then added to the main window. mainWindowPanel.add(tempView); This small bit of code would create a view, add it to the main view and then any input in the main window is handled by that class, but at the same time any input not in this main window is handled by another class (probably the root class). Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. To clarify: The program has a side panel layout, containing buttons. And a main view layout that is empty. I am trying to set a .xml layout to this main view layout, and have it so that if any buttons are pressed in that main view then a class for that layout will handle it.

  I am fairly new to F#, but have spent the last few weeks reading reference materials. I wish to process a user-supplied input string, identifying and separating the constituent elements. For example, for this input: XYZ Hotel: 6 nights at 220EUR / night plus 17.5% tax the output should resemble something like a list of tuples: [ ("XYZ", Word); ("Hotel:", Word); ("6", Number); ("nights", Word); ("at", Operator); ("220", Number); ("EUR", CurrencyCode); ("/", Operator); ("night", Word); ("plus", Operator); ("17.5", Number); ("%", PerCent); ("tax", Word) ] Since I'm dealing with user input, it could be anything. Thus, expecting users to comply with a grammar is out of the question. I want to identify the numbers (could be integers, floats, negative...), the units of measure (optional, but could include SI or Imperial physical units, currency codes, counts such as "night/s" in my example), mathematical operators (as math symbols or as words including "at" "per", "of", "discount", etc), and all other words. I have the impression that I should use active pattern matching -- is that correct? -- but I'm not exactly sure how to start. Any pointers to appropriate reference material or similar examples would be great.

  I'm trying to emulate some pseudo-classes and attribute selectors in Internet Explorer 6 and 7, such as :focus, :hover or [type=text].   I've had the following <a> tag: <a href="http://myserver/_forms?url={@FileRef}&amp;id=5">...</a> One of the files is called "File's got apostrophe.xml". The output of the XSL is: <a href="http://myserver/_forms?url=/blah/File&amp;#39;s got apostrophe.xml&id=5">...</a> The problem is the the apostrophe is HTML-escaped (twice?) into &amp;#39;, which breaks the link. I've also tried using <xsl:attribute>, with same results: <a> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:value-of select="concat('http://myserver/_forms?url=', @FileRef, '&amp;id=5')" disable-output-escaping="yes" /> </xsl:attribute> </a> Outputting <xsl:value-of select="@FileRef" disable-output-escaping="yes" /> works well - the unescaped value is printed on the page. • How to optimize this simple function which translates input bits into words?

  I have written a function which reads an input buffer of bytes and produces an output buffer of words where every word can be either 0x0081 for each ON bit of the input buffer or 0x007F for each OFF bit. The length of the input buffer is given. Both arrays have enough physical place. I also have about 2Kbyte free RAM which I can use for lookup tables or so. Now, I found that this function is my bottleneck in a real time application. It will be called very frequently. Can you please suggest a way how to optimize this function? I'm trying to use the pathspec magic :(exclude) to specify that some patches should not be shown in the output of git log -p. However, patches that I want to exclude still show up in the output. • Is it best to make fewer calls to the database and output the results in an array?

  I'm trying to create a more succinct way to make hundreds of db calls. Instead of writing the whole query out every time I wanted to output a single field, I tried to port the code into a class that did all the query work. But if I want to output the price of that listing, I have to make another call to getListingInfo(). This makes another query on the db and again returns only the first row. This is much more succinct than writing the entire query each time, but I feel like I may be calling the db too often. Is there a better way to output the data from my class and still be succinct in accessing it (maybe outputting all the rows to an array and returning the array)? If yes, How?

• Acer aspire 5735z wireless not working after upgrade to 11.10

  I cant get my wifi card to work at all after upgrading to 11.10 Oneiric. I'm not sure where to start to fix this. Ive tried using the additional drivers tool but this shows that no additional drivers are needed. Before my upgrade I had a drivers working for the Rt2860 chipset.   I am using jQuery1.4.2, ASP.NET MVC 2 and jQuery.UI-1.8. I am creating a data input dialog which works OK when all the data is valid, but I want to validate the input data on the server and return an error to the dialog describing the error and I am not quite sure how to do that and keep the dialog open. The dialog is opened when a link is clicked. The solution may be to try to bypass more of the MVC framework's default binding that handles the submit button clicks and creates the expected ProfilePermission object and calls the Controller's AddPermission POST Action method, but I was hoping there may be an easier way without have to write more jquery/javascript code to handle the button clicks and pass the data to the server. • How common are "bandage" fixes?

  Imagine the following scenario: You've detected that your (or someone else's) program has a bug - a function produces the wrong result when given a particular input. You examine the code and can't find anything wrong: it just seem to bog out when given this input. You can now do one of two things: you either examine the code further until you've found the actual cause; or you slap on a bandage by adding an if statement checking if the input is this particular input - if it is, return the expected value. To me, applying the bandage would be completely unacceptable. If the code is behaving unexpectingly on this input, what other input that you've missed will it react strangely to? It just doesn't seem like a fix at all - you're just shoveling the problem under the rug. As I wouldn't even consider doing this, I'm surprised at how often the professors and books keep reminding us about how applying "bandage" fixes is not a good idea. So this makes me wonder: just how common are these kinds of "fixes"?

  Hello I have a problem with maildrop. I have read dozens of webs/howto/emails but couldnt solve it. My objective is moving automatically spam messages to a spam folder. My email server is working perfectly. It marks spam in subject and headers using spamassasin. My box has: Ubuntu 9.04 Web: Apache2 + Php5 + MySQL MTA: Postfix 2.5.5 + SpamAssasin + virtual users using mysql IMAP: Courier 0.61.2 + Courier AuthLib WebMail: SquirrelMail I have read that I could use Squirrelmail directly (not a good idea), procmail or maildrop. As I already have maildrop in the box (from courier) I have configured the server to use maildrop (added an entry in transport table for a virtual domain). Couldnt find doc about them - In some places I found maildrop line with more parameters flags=DRhu user=vmail argv=/usr/lib/courier/bin/maildrop -d $ ${recipient} ${extension} ${recipient} ${user} ${nexthop} ${sender} I am really lost.
