What to do?

  • Graphic driver for ATI Radeon Xpress 200M on Ubuntu 9.10

    I have trouble finding the right driver for my graphic card on Ubuntu 9.10. My graphic card is ATI Radeon Xpress 200M. With Ubuntu default driver, I have had problems when doing some OpenGL graphics programming or when watching youtube, the graphics goes slower than the sounds. Could anybody help? Thanks very much.

  • Ubuntu cannot play all the videos on yahoo

    Hello, I have latest Ubuntu installed, with firefox 3.6.3. I have flashplugin-installer and ubuntu-restricted-extras installed. No other package concerning flash (gnash, swf) is installed. I can play videos on youtube or some other sites, some even some videos on yahoo, but I cannot play this video (and some others) - the blue circle in the center (like loading...) keeps flashing forever. Why can't I play it, and how to make it play?

    I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my preinstalled windows 7 Sony vaio s series laptop following instructions here: http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2012/05/17/how-to-dual-boot-ubuntu-12-04-and-windows-7/ Everything went well and I am able to boot in to windows after complete installation of Ubuntu. Now following instructions on web I tried to add Ubuntu to my BIOS using Easy BCD (but forget to add windows 7 entry). As a result, I loose windows 7 OS and can't boot in to either OS then I successfully repaired windows 7 using recovery CD. Now my problem is that I can't reinstall Ubuntu 12.04 using Live CD it halts every time before disk partition step giving error. There is only one partition which corresponds to windows 7 but I don't know whether the Ubuntu is still there or probably corrupted. So, how to repair it or again install ubuntu ?     I want to know what is the logic behind server client communication through packets for a real time game. for example the server sends x packets then the client receives x packets and processes them.. Basically what is the process to keep the client and server in sync and able to receive and send packets. more in depth example of what I want to know: client step 1 wait for a packet step 2 read x packets step 3 process x packets step 4 send x packets and so on... I need to know the very basic outline of the communication. Big questions are: 1) do I send and read packets all at one time? i.e for loop though the incoming packets array list and read them all or one every server loop or what... 2) what order should I do things i.e first receive then read then process then send etc.. 3) what I asked above a step by step of what the server / client should do..   • Ubiquity crashes when installing Ubuntu 10.10 from CD

    I didn't want to take any risks so I ordered a CD from Canonical to get Ubuntu. Thing is, another CD was given to me about 2 days before the CD from Canonical got to me, so I installed Ubuntu 10.10 but there was a problem with the login screen (When the Ubuntu logo should be displayed, it wasn't, instead it would just say "Ubuntu 10.10") so I decided to reinstall Ubuntu 10.10 with the CD that arrived a few days later. Whenever it's finishing the installation, the installer (ubiquity) crashes, or sometimes it gets to the part where the boot loader should be installed and for some reason it is unable to install the boot loader (if I choose not to install it, I don't get how to start Ubuntu, since you have to reboot my laptop after the installation is over). I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 from the CD I ordered, since I have no other OS on this laptop.

    I have just installed Ubuntu for the first time using VMWare on Windows 7. Everything has been installed smoothly but after the installation in the login screen username is coming and when I try to enter password it is not taking any input, keyboard is not working at all. After moving away from Ubuntu keyboard and everthing else is working fine. Does anyone know what's the cause behind this ?
