  • How can I display a hidden view in Interface Builder which is on a unattached monitor?

    I am using Interface Builder to work on NIBs and one of the NIBs must have a view on my external monitor which is not attached because I cannot see it on my MacBook. I have had this problem with editing iPad NIBs which I work on with my larger external monitor. For some reason Interface Builder is not detecting that there is now just one screen and not pulling this view onto this monitor. There has to be a way to get this back into the visible space so that I can work on it. I have tried double clicking on the view icon in the organizer which normally brings the view forward but it is not coming into view. What can I do? Is this really a bug that has been around this whole time?

  • XCode: compiling doesn't always replace plist?

    I have an application and I will sometimes just change the plist, say to change the version number. Sometimes I'll actually make a change to the code, AND the version number....in the latter case, SOMETIMES the version number of the resulting app will change, in the former it will never change. The only way I've found that surely does it right is when I delete the .app before compiling. In case it matters, the resulting app is being put in a folder that isn't in the build folder, but I doubt that that's relevant. any thoughts?

    Hello everyone! I'm always really picky about memory leaks and I cannot understand why my garbage collected application leaks. My code is entirely memory-managed and it runs great without garbage collection, not a single leak. However, as soon as I turn on garbage collection it leaks! Just to prove a point, why does this leak in a garbage collected app? (place this dummy code at applicationDidFinishLaunching:) NSOpenPanel *panel = [NSOpenPanel openPanel]; [panel beginSheetModalForWindow:window completionHandler:^(NSInteger result) {NSBeep();}]; Also, is there a way to prevent leaks in apps (garbage collected or otherwise) that use Scripting Bridge? it seems as if they all leak, even the sample ones in xcode.   • How to allow click-through and a cursor in a background app while not taking the active appearance a

    Here are my goals: My application displays an overlay window above all applications' window. The user can draw in the overlay window. The mouse cursor changes to a specific cursor while in the overlay window. The application that has the active appearance before summoning the overlay window still has it while the overlay window is up and usable. The user does not need to click on the overlay window to activate it before they can draw. Drawing in the window does not steal the active appearance away from the application that has it. With LSUIElement, I get #1, #2, #3, and #5. With LSBackgroundOnly, I get #1, #2, #4, and #6. How can I satisify all of these goals without installing an event tap and processing the mouse events myself? Things I've tried: [NSApp preventWindowOrdering] in mouseDown: [NSApp activateIgnoringOtherApps:YES] in applicationWillFinishLaunching: [myWindow orderFront:nil] in applicationWillFinishLaunching: [myWindow makeKeyAndOrderFront:nil] in applicationWillFinishLaunching: [myWindow orderFrontRegardless] in applicationWillFinishLaunching: [myWindow makeMainWindow] in applicationWillFinishLaunching: (this caused failure of point 4 even with LSBackgroundOnly) SetThemeCursor in applicationWillFinishLaunching: (With LSUIElement) Implementing canBecomeMainWindow in my NSPanel subclass to return NO Except where otherwise noted, none of these made any difference. So, with LSUIElement, goals #4 and #6 remain; with LSBackgroundOnly, goals #3 and #5 remain. Any suggestions?

    Hi all, I rather cleverly (or not in hindsight) installed RVM, which kept hanging whilst compiling Rubies. I have removed the .rvm directory but now my system has reverted to Ruby 1.8.7 i.e. when I type: ruby -v which ruby they both point to 1.8.7. How do I get the ruby command to point to my 1.9.1 installation, which is located in /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.9.1? I'm on OSX 10.6. Thanks Robin

  • Git using wrong email address when talking to Heroku

    git clone [email protected]:myapp.git Results in a "myoldemailaddress not authorized to access myapp" myoldemailaddress was an email address I was using on an old heroku account, but it seems to be stuck using it, I can use my new one. I've removed the .heroku directory, and regenerated it, it has the correct user name and password, I can see my apps listed I've uploaded my key (I've regenerated my several times now) ssh-keygen -t rsa -C mynewaddress I uninstalled and reinstalled heroku on a different user in the same machine it works just fine. Something about my account has my old address, but I can't figure out where.

  • Snow Leopard mounted directory changes permissions sporadically

    I have a smb mounted directory: /Volumes/myshare This was mounted via Finder "Connect to Server..." with smb://myservername/myshare Everything good so far. However, when I try to access the directory via PHP (running under Apache), it fails with permission denied about 10% of the time. By this I mean that repeated accesses to my page sometimes result in a failure.     I'm not getting the -(void)keyDown callback on my inherited NSOpenGLView (note that mouseMoved does not work either though I do setAcceptsMouseMovedEvents:YES, but that is not an issue yet). It implements - (BOOL)acceptsFirstResponder { return YES; } but still no luck. My knowledgeable friend implied that it might have something to do with that the application is still a console application and not a bundled .app (I'm currently porting it). If so: is there some way to circumvent? Could the cause be something else? When I terminate my console application, I frequently see all my keypresses go to stdout so it does seem reasonable...

  • Accidently removed "Contextual Menu Items " folder, RightClick not working , How to recover?

    Hi guys I was testing an application called iTrash during which it seems like i have deleted the "Contextual Menu Items " folder as its no longer present and i can no longer right-click anywhere on my Snow Leopard. I don't have any backups. Can someone tell me how i can recover that folder or if i can download the files needed to have in that folder (just the original ones) to regain the Right-click again?

  • How do I enable spell checking within an NSTextField?

    I have an NSTextField that I would like to enable "as-you-type" spell checking. When I load my application I can do this from the Menu Bar Edit Spelling and Grammar Check Spelling While Typing. I would like this option to be enabled by default. Within IB I can enable this for a NSTextView but I would like to use NSTextField for this part of the UI. Thank you.

    In a project where some of the files contains ^M as newline separators. Diffing these files are apparently impossible, since git-diff sees it as the entire file is just a single line. How does one diff with the previous version? How can one save a property list to the current user's home folder? Must one obtain the user's name first and include it in the path such as /users/toffler/testfile.txt?
