• Is it possible to scan Entities in jar files using JPA and hibernate

  I have the following situation : Project A - Contains a few entities and is independent Project B - Contains a few entities and is independent Project C - Contains few entities and is dependent on Project A & Project B. I am using Maven to manage dependencies and builds. When I try to test Project A and project B it goes through fine. Each of them has a persistence.xml and a separate persistent context. When I run Project C , It does map any of the entities. I have tried to use the auto-detect, specified the jar file attribute ... but nothing seems to work. It gives me a Mapping Exception saying unknown entity and wont persist or read the Entities from Projects A or B. I have posted the 3 persistence.xml files here. Also, I tried using the class attribute and using the same persistent context but it just wont find the files. Any help is really appreciated. • Trouble with using ActiveX control in .net windows application

  C#, visual studio 2005 I have several 3rd party activeX control. I need to use them in my .net windows application. These controls are graphical. I created a wrapper with aximp.exe for them. But it seems that something wrong. When I call some methods of wrapped activeX control == targetinvocativeexception occured. Or visual studio writes "you are attempting to write or read protected memory". I know that something wrong. But what is exactly wrong - i don't know. I find out about method CreateControl() or STAthread attribute. but it doesn't help me. What is the common problem and common solution for my type of problem ? These activex control from big and trusted company, other developers work with them.

  I have created ASP.NET WebForms site on IIS 7.5. I want to create step by step user registration. I want to store the basic and detailed information about registered users in a specially created database table (not in aspnet_users table). I want to validate email first and then prevent next registration step for the user whose email address already exists in the database. At the last registration step I want to present summary form. All previous input and select fields should be duplicated in this form with "disabled" attribute. Please tell me how to adjust CreateUserWizard ASP.NET Control and web.config file to these needs?

• Position text in top of a dinamically generated map area of type poly

  Hi, I have a web page with a dynamically generated image map (from a server side charting tool that I have no control over). I have a value for each area in the title attribute that I want to display on top of the image. I could dynamically generate span elements with absolute positioning, but I'm not sure how to calculate the "center" of a poly shaped area to use as coordinates. Is there an easy way to create texts for image map areas? a JQuery plug in perhaps? Do you know a good way to calculate the center of a poly area? Do you have any other suggestions?   I would like to add a prefix to each django comment form. I'm using multiply comment forms in the same page and depsite it's working well, i don't like having many input fields with the same id attribute like <input type="text" name="honeypot" id="id_honeypot" />. So, is there a way to tell django do add a prefix to each form instance? I know i can do it with other forms when i create a form instance in this waynewform = CustomForm(prefix="a") but using Django's comment system, this part is handled by a comment template tag {% get_comment_form for [object] as [varname] %}. Can I tell to the template tag to add a prefix?

• android: having two listviews in two listactivities didn't work

In my app I have two listactivities which uses two different listviews: public class Activity1 extends ListActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { try{ super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.listview1); } public class Activity2 extends ListActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { try{ super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.listview2); } } As required by android, listview must have an ID which is exactly "@android:id/list". If I set the listview in both listview1 and listview2 with the same ID, then they will end up using the same format of listview, which is not what I want. But if I set one of the IDs to be sth like "@+id/listview2", android gave me the error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Your content must have a ListView whose id attribute is 'android.R.id.list' How do I handle this dilema?

• InvalidAttributeValueException when using non-ascii characters in JNDI

  Hi, I have some trouble using JNDI since it accepts only 7-bits encoded parameters. I am trying to change an LDAP entry using JNDI with the following code : Attribute newattr = new BasicAttribute("userpassword", password); ModificationItem[] mods = new ModificationItem[1]; mods[0] = new ModificationItem(DirContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE, newattr); context.modifyAttributes("uid=anID,ou=People,o=MyOrganisation,c=com", mods); If my password contains only ascii characters, it works perfectly, but if I use a non-ascii character, like "à", I have this error message : javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19 - The value is not 7-bit clean: à]; My ldap supports those characters so I guess it comes from JNDI. Does anyone know how to fix that? Am I supposed to convert my parameter? How can I do that easily? Thanks

• Algorithm to aggregate values from child tree nodes

  I have objects in a tree structure, I would like to aggregate status information from children nodes and update parent node with aggregated status. Lets say node A has children B1, B2, and B1 has C1, C2, C3 as children. Each of the nodes have a status attribute. Now if C1, C2, C3 are all complete then I would like to mark B1 as completed. And if C4, C5,C6,C7 are complete make B2 as complete. When B1 and B2 are both complete mark A as complete. I can go through these nodes in brute force method and make updates, could someone suggest an efficient algorithm to do it. A { B1 { C1, C2, C3}, B2 { C4, C5, C6, C7} }

• Robust unit-testing of HTML in PHP

  I'm adding unit-tests to an older PHP codebase at work. I will be testing and then rewriting a lot of HTML generation code and currently I'm just testing if the generated strings are identical to the expected string, like so: (using PHPUnit) public function testConntype_select() { $this->assertEquals( '<select><option value="blabla">Some text</option></select>', conntype_select(1); // A value from the test dataset. ); } This way has the downside that attribute ordering, whitespace and a lot of other irrelevant details are tested as well. I'm wondering if there are any better ways to do this. For example if there are any good and easy ways to compare the generated DOM trees. I found very similar questions for ruby, but couldn't find anything for PHP.

I am currently using PDB files for this.But using PDB I couldn't retrieve actual code line for extra information in commented format which is given for that attribute. Visual studio uses NCB files for intelligence. So will it be better idea to use NCB instead PDB? If yes,How to retrieve information from NCB files? Is there any SDK like DIA SDK?

  I was looking for a built-in attribute to specify that a type is immutable, and I found only System.ComponentModel.ImmutableObjectAttribute. Using Reflector, I checked where it was used, and it seems that the only public class that uses it is System.Drawing.Image... WTF? It could have been used on string, int or any of the primitive types, but Image is definitely not immutable, there are plenty of ways to alter its internal state (using a Graphics or the Bitmap.SetPixel method for instance). So the only class in the BCL that is explicitly declared as immutable, is mutable! Or am I missing something?

However, when I save it afterwards, rails will run only the superclass validators, not the ones I defined in the subclass. How should I make rails run the subclass validators?

  I have a form with some input texts passed in GET, and i don't want to have in GET all the fields; i want to avoid empty fields.   I have a Django app that requires a settings attribute in the form of: RELATED_MODELS = ('appname1.modelname1.attribute1', 'appname1.modelname2.attribute2', 'appname2.modelname3.attribute3', ...) Then hooks their post_save signal to update some other fixed model depending on the attributeN defined. I would like to test this behaviour and tests should work even if this app is the only one in the project (except for its own dependencies, no other wrapper app need to be installed). How can I create and attach/register/activate mock models just for the test database? (or is it possible at all?) Solutions that allow me to use test fixtures would be great.

• In javascript, how do I find out the name of a function from within that function?

  The title should make it clear. Is it possible from within a function to determine the name of that function? Basically, I'm adding some debugging code to a number of functions, and I'd like to be able to simply add the following line inside every function: if (global_debugOn) alert("Processing function " + function-name); How can I get 'function-name'? Yes, obviously I could simply type in the function name (after all I'm typing in the whole alert bit), but that's a hassle to do, especially if there is a nice simple way of retrieving it dynamically. Plus, as function names change during development, I'd like to keep it up-to-date... I hoped that maybe the arguments attribute might hold this (e.g. arguments[0], like in C), but I couldn't get it to work. I'm not even sure if arguments works anyway. Thanks! Rory

  I have a directory full of log files in the form ${name}.log.${year}{month}${day} such that they look like this: logs/ production.log.20100314 production.log.20100321 production.log.20100328 production.log.20100403 production.log.20100410 ... production.log.20100314 production.log.old I'd like to use a bash script to filter out all the logs older than x amount of month's and dump it into *.log.old X=6 #months LIST=*.log.*; for file in LIST; do is_older = file_is_older_than_months( ${file}, ${X} ); if is_older; then cat ${c} >> production.log.old; rm ${c}; fi done; How can I get all the files older than x months? and...   Is it posible to validate the uniqueness of a child model's attribute scoped against a polymorphic relationship? For example I have a model called field that belongs to fieldable: class Field < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :fieldable, :polymorphic => :true validates_uniqueness_of :name, :scope => :fieldable_id end I have several other models (Pages, Items) which have many Fields. So what I want is to validate the uniqueness of the field name against the parent model, but the problem is that occasionally a Page and an Item share the same ID number, causing the validations to fail when they shouldn't. Am I just doing this wrong or is there a better way to do this?

  I just started using the chrome developer tools for some basic html websites and I used the audit tool. I had two identical images, one with the height and width attribute, and one without. On the Resources section, both the latency and the download time were identical. However, the Audit showed Specify image dimensions (1) A width and height should be specified for all images in order to speed up page display. Does this actually help? And are there any other ways to speed up page time? This is only a splash page for the website I am building and as such it is only html, no css or javascript or anything. I have already compressed the images but I want to speed up load time even more. Is there a way?

• 500 error for long url iis7

  I was getting 404 errors for some long URLs on a website I'm developing. After a bit of digging I discovered that this occurs when the length of certain aspects of the URL exceed configurable limits in IIS7. In this case the maxQueryString attribute of the requestLimits property needed to be increased in the web.config <system.webServer> <security> <requestFiltering> <requestLimits maxQueryString="4096" maxAllowedContentLength="4096" maxUrl="8192" > </requestLimits> </requestFiltering> </security> This fixed the problem instantly on my development server but on the remote server I now get: 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. And that's all the information it gives me.
