I have the unicode for that char, how do I display it?
0x023D2A
textField.text = ???;
i have have the name of the character.
can I reference it by name?
I need to have a buffered char stream, into which I write in one thread and from which I read in another thread. Right now I'm using PipedReader and PipedWriter for it, but those classes cause a performance problem: PipedReader does a wait(1000) when its internal buffer is empty, which causes my application to lag visibly.
Would there be some library which does the same thing as PipedReader/PipedWriter, but with better performance? Or will I have to implement my own wheels?
I'm using a macro and I think it works fine -
#define CStrNullLastNL(str) {char* nl=strrchr(str,'\n'); if(nl){*nl=0;}}
So it works to zero out the last newline in a string, really its used to chop off the linebreak when it gets left on by fgets.
So, I'm wondering if I can "return" a value from the macro, so it can be called like
func( CStrNullLastNL( cstr ) ) ;
Or will I have to write a function
int, char and bool usually have different sizes. Where intcharbool, I suppose.
But does the RAM even support this?
How is it built up?
Can it take advantage of bool being only 1 byte and store it in a small "register"?
Lets say I have something like...
void foo()
{
char c[100];
printf("this function does nothing useful");
}
When foo is called, it creates the array on the stack, and when it goes out of scope, is the memory deallocated automatically? Or is c destroyed, but the memory remains allocated, with no way to access it/get it back except restarting the computer?
this is how we use MPI_Init function
int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
MPI_Init(&argc, &argv);
…
}
why does MPI_Init use pointers to argc and argv instead of values of argv?
I found the following code example for Java on RosettaCode:
public static boolean prime(int n) {
return !new String(new char[n]).matches(".?|(..+?)\\1+");
}
I don't know Java in particular but understand all aspects of this snippet except for the regex itself
I have basic to basic-advanced knowledge of Regex as you find it in the built-in PHP functions
How does .?|(..+?)\\1+ match prime numbers?
Hi All,

Hi guys!
I'm having a dispute with a colleague of mine. She says that the following:
char* a = "\x000aaxz";
will/can be seen by the compiler as "\x000aa". I do not agree with her, as I think you can have a maximum number of 4 hex characters after the \x. Can you have more than 4 hex chars?
Who is right here?
Hi,
I'm using ruby to sort an array where each element in the array is another array.
I have this:
Data = Data.SortBy { |Info| info[3] }
example data in this column:
3.1
2
5.65
-1
0.4
-9.43
-10.87
-2.3
It should sort this into:
5.65
3.1
2
0.4
-1
-2.3
-9.43
-10.87
But it comes out like this:
5.65
3.1
2
0.4
-1
-10.87
-2.3
-9.43
It's only comparing the first char of the float... not the whole number?
Hi, I am just learning Java and am trying to get my program to retrieve the first digit of a number - for example 543 should return 5, etc. I thought to convert to a string, but I am not sure how I can convert it back? Thanks for any help.
int number = 534;
String numberString = Integer.toString(number);
char firstLetterChar = numberString.charAt(0);
int firstDigit = ????
Using Delphi 2009 + Firebird 2.1.3.
Database is ODS 11.1, default char set is UTF8.
My prepared query is as follows:
SELECT
a.po_id, a.po_no
FROM
purchase_order a
WHERE EXISTS
(SELECT 1
FROM
sales_order_item z1
JOIN
purchase_order_item z2
ON
z2.so_item_id = z1.so_item_id
AND
z2.po_id = a.po_id
WHERE z1.so_id = :soid)
ORDER BY a.po_no
Now when I loop this say 1000 times because I have 1000 x so_id, the CPU usage get at 100% for FBSERVER.EXE
Anyone encountered this problem?

putStrLn "Enter the Number of CD's"
num <- getLine
let test= buyItem currentStockBase art num
printListIO (showcurrentList test)
the values i have to pass for buyItem is
buyItem currentStockBase "Akon" 20
but i want to send "Akon" to art and for 20 i want to send num
it gives me this error
ERROR file:.\Project2.hs:126 - Type error in application

I Have a model like this
foo=models.char
bar=models.dateime
In wich several foos arrives in one day in different time. I need to list all the foos in a specific date, no matter the time they arrive.
I can't change the model, so splitting the bar in two fields(one for date and one for time) is out of reach right now :(
if I have a stored procedure say
create procure w AS
ALTER TABLE t ADD x char(1)
UPDATE t set x =1
Even when it lets me create that stored procedure (if I create it when x exists), when it runs, there is an error on the UPDATE statement because column x doesn't exist.
What's the conventional way to deal with this, it must come up all the time? I can work around it by putting the UPDATE inside EXEC, is there another/better way?
Thanks
I've started a new iPhone app that needs to remember a single, 40-char string. That's it. I've hooked into Core Data, and am reading about it now, but it really seems like overkill. Is there an easier way to do something so simple?
Is there any hack I could use to do this:
template <class TYPE>
class Hello
{
TYPE _var;
};
I would like a way to store
Hello<int> intHello and Hello<char*> charHello
into the same Container such as a Queue / List.
I'm writing a program and I have the following problem:
char *tmp;
sprintf (tmp,"%ld",(long)time_stamp_for_file_name);
Could someone explain how much memory allocate for the string tmp.
How many chars are a long variable?
Thank you,
I would appreciate also a link to an exahustive resource on this kind of information.
Thank you
So I have been trying to compare two NSStrings in xcode. However, it is not working. What am I doing wrong?
NSString Prog are characters that are xml parsed from mysql
char *cStr = "YES";
NSString *str3 = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:cStr];
if ([str3 isEqualToString:prog]) {
[switch1 setOn:YES animated:YES];
}
else {
[switch1 setOn:NO animated:YES];
}
In the code I am writing I need a foo(int, char*) and a foo(int, int) functions.
If I was coding this in C++ I would use templates. Is there any equivalent for C? Or should I use void pointers? How?
Thanks.
