  I am working on a CellTable with a SimplePager. My paging works fine in the sense when i set the page size to be 5 only 5 records are being displayed. My question is that do next and previous buttons come by default or do we have to configure them. • Transform LINQ Dataset into a Matrix for export

  Hi folks, I've got a data table with columns in which include Item, Category and Value (and others, but those are the only relevant ones for this problem) that I access via LINQ in a C# ASP.Net MVC app. I want to transform these into a matrix and output that as a CSV file to pull into Excel as matrix with the items down the side, the categories across the top and the values in the row cells. However, I don't know how many, or what, categories there will be in this table, nor will there always be a record for each item/category combination. I've written this by looping round, getting my "master category" list, then looking again for each item, filling in either blank or Value, depending on whether the item/category record exists, but as there are currently 27000 records in the table, this isn't as fast as I'd like. Is there a slicker and faster way I can do this, maybe via LINQ (firing into a quicker SQL statement so the DB server can do the leg-work), or will any method essentially come back to what I am doing?   I'm looking to create a filter that can give me two things: number of request pr minute, and average responsetime pr minute. I already got the individual readings, I'm just not sure how to add them up. My filter captures every request, and it records the time each request takes: public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ...() { long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); chain.doFilter(request, response); long stop = System.currentTimeMillis(); String time = Util.getTimeDifferenceInSec(start, stop); } This information will be used to create some pretty Google Chart charts. I don't want to store the data in any database. Just a way to get current numbers out when requested As this is a high volume application; low overhead is essential. I'm assuming my applicationserver doesn't provide this information.

• Why Does TFS Allow Orphaned Content and How Do I Get Rid of It?

  My TfsVersionControl database has grown to 40+ GB in size. We recently did a TFS Destroy on a folder tree that should have cleared up at least 10 GB but instead it seemed to have no effect. When I look at the tables in TfsVersionControl, I am first shocked to see that there are no foreign keys at all in the database. Running a few queries, I see that there is some orphaning going on: tbl_Content has 13.9 GB of records that don't have a related tbl_File record tbl_File and tbl_Content have 2.4 GB that don't have a related tbl_Namespace record The cleanup job seems to be running nightly (prc_DeleteUnusedContent) and running it against the database manually doesn't remove any orphans. I see in the log for the cleanup job that it failed on 3/16, which is the morning after I destroyed the large amount of data. The error was due to a full transaction log. Could that error be the reason I'm left with all this orphaned data that can't be deleted? How can I permanently destroy this unneeded content?

  I have multidimensional array which is a query returning the info from a table named 'users'. In another part of my code I need to get the records of only one certain user and I want to take it using the array I mentioned above. It's of type: array(24) { [0]=>array(9) { ["id"]=>string(1) "1" ... } [1]=>array(9) { ["id"]=>string(1) "2" ... } [2]=>array(9) { ["id"]=>string(1) "5" ...} I'll use foreach compairing by ["id"] to find the record I need, but when I get a match I'm not sure how to extract only this array from the parent one.   I need a way to take a resultset of KeyIDs and divide it up as equally as possible and update records differently for each division based on the KeyIDs. In other words, there is SELECT KeyID FROM TableA WHERE (some criteria exists) I want to update TableA 3 different ways by 3 equal portions of KeyIDs.   I work with Apache, PHP, and MySQL for web development and local applications. For the past couple of years I have slowly been learning C++ and want to build an application this summer. Specifically, I want to make a "library" application in which I can store information about the books, CDs, and records that I own. I know this type of app exists, but I want to learn C++ and this seems like a good way to go about it. Here are a few questions: Is it possible to create a stand-alone application that does not require a database for storing data? If the answer to #1 above is "yes", is it a good idea to do this for an application that could potentially need to manage a lot of data? What data-storage options would you recommend for use with a C++ application? Thanks!

  I have two related tables: Groups and Clients. Clients belongs to Groups so I have a foreign key "group_id" that references the group a client belongs to. I'm changing the Group id from an autoincrement to a UUID. So what I need is to generate a UUID for each Group and update the Clients table at once to reflect the changes and keep the records related. Is there a way to do this with multiple-table update on MySQL? Adding tables definitions for clarification.   I want to pull from my database records corresponding to parent_id, like this: function getChildren($id, $parent_id) { $q = $this->db->select('id, name, slug, plat'); $q = $this->db->from('games'); $q = $this->db->where('parent_id',$id); $q = $this->db->or_where('id',$parent_id); $q = $this->db->get(); return $q->result_array(); } It - if it's a children game - get parent_id and search for a game with such id and for other games that has parent_id same as this one. If it's the parent game, it only looks for games with parent_id same as it's id. The problem is... it's not always working. I have four games in db: id | parent_id | title 15 | 0 | Abe 19 | 15 | Abe 20 | 0 | RE2 21 | 20 | RE2 DS First two works, last two - only children (id = 21) shows parent.

I want to add two check constraints as follows, but not sure how to do this do not allow to insert into ManagersForWarehouses if WarehouseID is not marked as warehouse Do not allow to uncheck Warehouse if there are records in ManagersForWarehouses Thanks

• SQL Select between two fields depending on the value of one field

  Hi. I am using a PostgreSQL database, and in a table representing some measurements I've two columns: measurement, and interpolated. In the first I've the observation (measurement), and b is the interpolated value depending on nearby values. Every record with an original value has also an interpolated value. However, there are a lot of records without "original" observations (NULL), hence the values are interpolated and stored in the second column. So basically there are just two cases in the database: Value Value NULL Value Of course, it is preferable to use the value from the first column if available, hence I need to build a query to select the data from the first column, and if not available (NULL), then the database returns the value from the second column for the record in question. I have no idea how to build the SQL query. Please help. Thanks.

• How to improve the speed of a loop containing a sqlalchemy query statement as conditional

  This loop checks if a record is in the sqlite database and builds a list of dictionaries for those records that are missing and then executes a multiple insert statement with the list. This works but it is very slow (at least i think it is slow) as it takes 5 minutes to loop over 3500 queries. • What is the best way to make a game timer in Actionscript 3?

  I have built an online game system that depends on a timer that records how long it took a player to complete a challenge. It needs to be accurate to the millisecond. Their time is stored in a SQL database. The problem is that when I use the Timer class, some players are ending up getting scores in the database of less than a second. (which is impossible, as most challenges would take at least 11 seconds to complete even in a perfect situation.) What I have found is that if a player has too many browser windows open, and/or a slow computer, the flash game slows down actually affecting the timer speed itself. The timer is 'spinning' on screen so you can physically see the numbers slowing down. It is frustrating that I cannot just open a second thread or do something to allow flash to keep accurate time regardless of whatever else is going on in the program. Any ideas?

• mysql stored routine vs. mysql-alternative?

  We are using a mysql database w/ about 150,000 records (names) total. Our searches on the 'names' field is done through an autocomplete function in php. We have the table indexed but still feel that the searching is a bit sluggish (a few full seconds vs. something like Google Finance w/ near-instant response). We came up w/ 2 possibilities, but wanted to get more insight: Can we create a bunch (many thousands or more) of stored procedures to speed up searches, or will creating that many stored procedures bog-down the db? Is there a faster alternative to mysql for "select" statements (speed on inserting & updating rows isn't too important so we can sacrifice that, if necessary). I've vaguely heard of BigTable & others that don't support JOIN statements....we need JOIN statements for some of our other queries we do. thx

  From the list view of my app, I can view a list of records or drill down and edit/update a record. After updating, I want to go directly back to the list view, bypassing a couple of intermediate pages - but I don't simply want to link_to(:action => list) - there's pagination involved. I want to go back to the exact 'list' page I came from. What's the best way? Pass a hidden arg somewhere with the page number? Is there an elegant way to accomplish this?

• Get binary data from audio impulses

  I have IR sensor which have TRS plug and I can record my remotes signals into audio. Now I want to control my computer with TV remote, but I don't have any clue how to compare audio input with pre-recorded audio. But after I realized that these audio waves contains only some kind data (binary) I can turn these into binary or hex, so it is much easier to compare. Waves look just like this: http://i.imgur.com/lCIyl.png And this: ttp://i.imgur.com/goJ6d.png These are records of "OK" button, sometimes there are some impulses on right channel too and I don't know why, it seems like connections in sensor are damaged maybe. Ok thats not matter, anyway I need help with python program which read these impulses and turn these into binary, in realtime from audio input(mic). I know it's sounds like "Do it for me, while I enjoy my life", but I don't have experiences with sound transforming/reading... I've looking for python examples for recording and reading audio, but unsuccessfully.

  Hi I have 2 models in my django code: class ModelA(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255) description = models.CharField(max_length=255) created_by = models.ForeignKey(User) class ModelB(models.Model): category = models.CharField(max_length=255) modela_link = models.ForeignKey(ModelA, 'modelb_link') functions = models.CharField(max_length=255) created_by = models.ForeignKey(User) Say ModelA has 100 records, all of which may or may not have links to ModelB Now say I want to get a list of every ModelA record along with the data from ModelB I would do: list_a = ModelA.objects.all() Then to get the data for ModelB I would have to do for i in list_a: i.additional_data = i.modelb_link.all() However this runs a query on every instance of i. Thus making 101 queries to run. Is there any way of running this all in just 1 query. Or at least less than the 101 queries. I've tried putting in ModelA.objects.select_related().all() but this didn't seem to have any effect. Thanks

  I'm currently trying to optimize the sluggish process of retrieving a page of log entries from the SQLite database. I noticed I almost always retrieve next entries along with count of available entries: SELECT time, level, type, text FROM Logs WHERE level IN (%s) ORDER BY time DESC, id DESC LIMIT LOG_REQ_LINES OFFSET %d* LOG_REQ_LINES ; together with total count of records that can match current query: SELECT count(*) FROM Logs WHERE level IN (%s); (for a display "page n of m") I wonder, if I could concatenate the two queries, and ask them both in one sqlite3_exec() simply concatenating the query string. How should my callback function look then? Can I distinguish between the different types of data by argc? What other optimizations would you suggest?

Containers are objects that are stored in specific locations each location and container are specified by ID values. When I delete a record (using the form navigation controls) in the form based on the above query which tables are affected? (Also in heroku it is good practice for perfomance - dyno must work for small time in each request) But my client need result of it work and users can wait on that task. It is more clear: no any addition models or records in it, simple view and js... I think about such way: On client run AJAX with very long timeout (5 min for example) Client make request to server as usual On controller in action1 def start_work (with delay work setup) i need NO any response to client After work performs (delay job finished) i need run new action2 with response to client Client recieve response after about 1-5 min It is possible?
