• Adding Message Part dynamically in Receive Pipeline

  Hello, I tried to create a custom pipeline component that takes a message and attaches additional another part dynamically (during Disassemble stage). I haven't set up a send port, so that I can see what BizTalk is trying to process. I can see only the body part, the additional part doesn't show up. • BizTalk Server Threading in Receive Pipelines

  I am building custom pipeline components for receive pipelines in BizTalk Server (2006 and 2009). I am building the components in a streaming fashion. My question: for any single inbound message, if I have a disassembling component, when I create n messages from a single inbound message, will the message agent always use a single thread when reading the (body) streams and persisting the messages to the message box? I would think so, but confirmation would be helpful. Say if I create five messages in the disassembler, will any of these messages be persisted sequentially from the same thread? Or could these messages be processed in parallel?

• Basic Custom String Class for C++

  Hey all, I'm working on building my own string class with very basic functionality. I am having difficulty understand what is going on with the basic class that I have define, and believe there is some sort of error dealing with the scope occurring. When I try to view the objects I created, all the fields are described as (obviously bad pointer). Also, if I make the data fields public or build an accessor method, the program crashes. For some reason the pointer for the object is 0xccccccccc which points to no where. How can a I fix this? • More than one Custome control are not working properly

  Hello Developers, I have developed a ASP.Net Server custom control in C# for 3.5. named "myCheckBoxList" inherited from CheckBoxList web control. Working is very simple. It just works as a two option buttons. I have taken a CheckBoxList which will show two fixed checkboxes always. When I check one checkbox then another will uncheck as vise versa. This control works perfectly only when I have placed only one instance of that control on web page. If I place more than one instance of control then it doesnt works. Please, I need solution from expert minds from developers as stackoverflow users.

• Nested Transaction issues within custom Windows Service

  I have a custom Windows Service I recently upgraded to use TransactionScope for nested transactions. It worked fine locally on my old dev machine (XP sp3) and on a test server (Server 2003). However, it fails on my new Windows 7 machine as well as on 2008 Server. It was targeting 2.0 framework; I tried targeting 3.5 instead, but it still fails. The strange part is really in how it fails; no exception is thrown. The service itself merely times out. I added tracing code, and it fails when opening the connection for Database lookup #2 below. I also enabled tracing for System.Transactions; it literally cuts out partway while writing the block for the failed connection. We ran a SQL trace, but only the first lookup shows up. I put in code traces, and it gets to the trace the line before the second lookup, but nothing after. I've had the same experience hitting two different SQL servers (both are SQL 2005 running on Server 2003). The connection string is utilizing a SQL account (not Windows integration). All connections are against the same database in this case, but given the nature of the code it is being escalated to MSDTC. The service normally runs using Network Service, but I also tried my user account (same results). The short of it is that I use the same general technique widely in my web applications and haven't had any issues. I pulled out the code and ran it fine within a local Windows Form application. If anyone has any additional debugging ideas (or, even better, solutions) I'd love to hear them.

  I am designing an application such that it will have to react to certain actions required by the website, mostly the same way Last.FM client does (if you have used one) The way Last.FM client works is that, it will register a custom protocol in Windows (lastfm://) and on their website, they use that protocol to trigger certain action on the player, e.g.: lastfm://artist//similarartists will actually direct any Last.FM client running to load up similar artists. I would like to do the same thing for my application. Is this a good idea? Is there any good alternatives to send a message from a website to a desktop client in this manner?

• Qt compilation and stylesheet

  Each time I compile my Qt project after modifying my qss stylesheet file, the modifications aren't taken into account, unless I rebuild everything. Any idea on a workaround for this, so that I don't have to wait 5 minutes each time I change my qss ? Notes: I use Qt 4.8, and my stylsheet is declared in a resource file (qrc). EDIT: As suggested by Luca Carlon, when a qss is reference in the project through a .qrc file, the changes in the qss don't affect the qrc, and the compiler ignores it. To avoid that, I added a Custom Build Step to my project: before the qmake step! calls a .bat file without any argument the .bat contains the real command copy /b files.qrc +,,

I know how to display custom error messages on a form i.e. You cannot go any further until the following errors are fixed : login name not known! I want to display a message which will say: your email has been sent! after I send an email. I have been told that I should display this message through the flash.   If there is a method bool DoStuff() { try { // doing stuff... return true; } catch (Exception ex) { return false; } } should it rather be called IsStuffDone()? Both names could be misinterpreted by the user: If the name is DoStuff() why does it return a boolean? If the name is IsStuffDone() it is not clear whether the method performs a task or only checks its result. Is there a convention for this case? Or an alternative approach, as this one is considered flawed? For example in languages that have output parameters, like C#, a boolean status variable could be passed to the method as one and the method's return type would be void.

  I am using the following code in Wordpress to query events (custom post type) and order them by date chronologically.. query_posts( array( 'post_type' => 'events', 'showposts' => 10, 'orderby' => 'meta_value_num','meta_key' => '_ecmb_datetime' ) ); Where the meta key _ecmb_datetime is, this is the timestamp of the event. I don't want to show events that have already happened, so my question is how do I only show events happening after my current time, and how do I sort reverse chronologically? Exemple: A task in this context is like this: Task ID, Task Creator, Users who should do the task User_1 creates a task and he is then the creator. User_1 specifies User_2 and User_3 as users who should do the task. So these two last users are not creators of task. How do I create this models so that if I have a task object, I can find it's creator and users who should complete it.   Hi, well I know from my asp.net mvc experience that you can have attributes that handle exceptions (HandleErrorAttribute). As far as I can tell the Controller class has some OnException event which may be integral to this behaviour. However, I want to do something similar in my own code: dream example: public String MyProperty { [ExceptionBehaviour(typeof(FormatException), MyExEnum.ClearValue)] set { _thing.prop = Convert.ToThing(value); } } .... The code above obviously makes very little sense, but is close to the kind of thing I wish to do. I want the attribute on the property set accessor to catch some type of exception and then deal with this in some custom way (or even just swallow it). Any ideas guys?

  Hi. I am new to LWUIT and j2me, and I am building a j2me application for showing Japanese text vertically. The phonetic symbol part of the text should be shown in relatively small font size (about half the size of the text), small Kanas need to be shown as normal ones, and some 'vertical only' characters need to be put into the Private Use Area, etc. I tried to build this font into a bitmap font using the FontTask ant task LWUIT provided, but found that it does support the customizations mentioned above. So I decided to write my own task and add those. Below is what I have achieved: 1 An ant task extending the LWUITTask task to support a new nested element <verticalfont>. public class VerticalFontBuildTask extends LWUITTask { public void addVerticalfont(VerticalFontTask anVerticalFont) { super.addFont(anVerticalFont); } } 2 The VerticalFontTask task, which extends the original FontTask.   In Visual Studio 2003, you could easily set your project assembly to auto-increment every time you built it, but with Visual Studio 2005, this functionality was removed. You can still auto-increment your assembly version on every build, but it's a complicated custom build step instead of an integrated feature. I'm not sure why this was removed, but here's a question I should have asked a while ago - Should I be using a workaround to continue to auto-increment when I build, or is there a good reason to stop doing this, in favor of manually incrementing? Since Microsoft removed it from VS, perhaps there's a good reason, and I'm wondering if anybody knows it.

  Due to some issues in my site many pages are visible as duplicate using : www.example.com/page.html?task=view but it's content is exactly same as www.example.com/page.html. One way is to use http 301 redirect from www.example.com/page.html?task=view to www.example.com/page.html when anybody fetches page with arguments. But links like www.example.com/page.html?task=view will remain visible to outside world. Another way is canonicalization which I don't want to use as it is difficult to insert the tag in Joomla CMS. I want to hide www.example.com/page.html?task=view from external world. Is it possible to change the url from www.example.com/page.html?task=view to www.example.com/page.html ? I mean if there is href link of www.example.com/page.html?task=view in my web page, it should be visible to external world as without any arguments. This is different from using 301 to convert externally accessed page : www.example.com/page.html?task=view to without using arguments in .htaccess.

  Is it possible to set a default behaviour for custom (non-native) methods/functions in Java? For example, I would like to change the default "Function" to do a System.out.println("message") whenever called. So, when a custom method/function is being created: public String testMethod() { //custom code } it should execute the newly added default behaviour (in this case the system output), before the custom code is run. Even if this would be a bad excercise, is it possible? Maybe by extending the function class or something?

• Why won't my control accept keyboard input?

  I've built a custom control that I'm trying to send input to. It will accept mouse input and report MouseDown, MouseMove and MouseUp correctly, but for whatever reason, it won't accept keyboard input. When I click on it, it doesn't receive focus, and any keys I press get interpreted by whatever control had the focus already. This is probably something really simple. The first place I thought to look was in the ControlStyle property, but the only thing I can see in the helpfile about keyboard input is csNoStdEvents, which disables it, and my control doesn't have that. So what do I need to do to make it so my control can receive input focus?

• Import small number of records from a very large CSV file in Biztalk 2006

  I have a Biztalk project that imports an incoming CSV file and dumps it to a database table. The import works fine, but I only need to keep about 200-300 records from a file with upwards of a million rows. My orchestration discards these rows, but the problem is that the flat file I'm importing is still 250MB, and when converted to XML using a regular flat file pipeline, it takes hours to process and sometimes causes the server to run out memory. Is there something I can do to have the Custom Pipeline itself discard rows I don't care about? The very first item in each CSV row is one of a few strings, and I only want to keep rows that start with a certain string. Thanks for any help you're able to provide.

  When you add a label to the form from the toolbox, its text defaults to the item's name (label1, label2, etc). How can I make this happen with a custom control? So far, I have the following, which allows me to change the text through the property window: private string _text; [BrowsableAttribute(true)] public override string Text { get { return _text; } set { _text = value; lblID.Text = _text; } } Apparently the above code works as is, but I'm not sure why. Does Text default to the object's name automatically? The question still stands for other properties which don't override Text.

APPROACHES So what I'm trying to understand is what options are there to make this work eg Is it possible for a windows task to trigger a function to run within a running/existing WinForms application? (doesn't sound solid I guess) Split code out into two projects and duplicate for both console application that the task manager would run AND code that the winforms app would run Create a common library and re-use this for both the above-mentioned projects in the bullet above Create a service with an interface that both the task manager can access plus the winforms app can manage Actually each of these approaches sounds quite messy/complex - would be really nice to drop back to have the code only once within the one project in VS2008, the only reason I ask about this is I need to have a scheduling function and the suggestion has been to use http://taskscheduler.codeplex.com/ as the means to do this, which takes the scheduling out of my VS2008 project... thanks

  I have written a custom std::basic_streambuf and std::basic_ostream because I want an output stream that I can get a JNI string from in a manner similar to how you can call std::ostringstream::str(). It just doubles the buffer width, puts the requested character, and sets the base, put, and end pointers correctly. It is tested and I am quite sure it works. The jni_utf16_ostream works fine inserting unicode characters. For example, this works fine and results in the stream containing "hello, world": myns::jni_utf16_ostream o(env); o << u"hello, wor" << u'l' << u'd'; My problem is as soon as I try to insert an integer value, the stream's bad bit gets set, for example: myns::jni_utf16_ostream o(env); if (o.badbit()) throw "bad bit before"; // does not throw int32_t x(5); o << x; if (o.badbit()) throw "bad bit after"; // throws :( I don't understand why this is happening! Is there some other method on std::basic_streambuf I need to be implementing????
