Id like to create an IF test to scan the line for the existence of the pattern in my FIND statement before processing that statement. I figured that looking for an error condition may be the way to go. However, the only way I can envision this is as a self-referential formula, similart to the following pseudocode. IF(ISERROR($L26)=TRUE,$L26=0,L$26=the-result-of-the-formula-above) Can this be done with a formula or do I need to use a new helper column? Thanks.

• Buying an old laser printer -- what will need to be replaced?

  Hi all -- as you can see I'm new. I do IT and wiring for a small local shop but I never deal with printers. I do a LOT of printing, and I'd like to stop spending as much money on it. On my local CL, there is an HP 8100DN (duplex network) printer for a very good price (and the toner is a quarter-cent per page). It has printed 200,000 pages and I don't yet know anything else about it. The model was released in 1999. So my questions: What are the parts that tend to need service on laser printers? On ebay, I see fusers, rollers, DC power boards, and motors. What would you expect to replace soon at 200,000 pages? Are there any good "tests" to find out if certain parts are near failure? Do you have anything to say about the HP 8100 specifically? The bottom line for me is that if there's any chance of repairs costing more than $100, it's not worth it for me.

• Need software to convert RAR to ZIP ("store" mode - no compression) * Extract->re-archive changes date/time attributes

  I have tried all of the following applications (download.cnet.com - the free ones), and none of them will convert an RAR archive to a ZIP, without compressing the files ("store" mode). 7-ZIP would be fine, too. [The RAR is a "solid" archive with password (I know it), files "stored" - no compression, used WinRAR 3.5.1] PeaZip, 7-Zip, FilZip, TugZip, SimplyZipSE, QuickZip, WinShrink. (A couple of the apps let you try, but the program gives an error - indicating how bad the software is. (Like "unknown header # #.") None of these apps will do the conversion at all. IZArc 4.1 comes the closest. It will convert an RAR to a ZIP, but it compresses the zip. There is a general preference setting to "store" - but it doesn't effect conversions. I don't want to extract the RAR files and re-archive them because I need to preserve the modified/created file attributes. IZArc preserves them, but it compresses the files. WinRAR has the option to convert archives, but I get the error "skipping encryped archive" when I try to convert it. It asks for the password first, and I know it's right because that password opens the archive, and I can read/view all the files in the archive.

  Using phpmailer I keep getting a 110 timeout and "Unable to connect to host" when sending email from my web server. The authentication details are right and they work on another server I have (login, pwd, ports etc and gmail acct set up for SSL connections on 465), but it's failing on my new server. FIREWALL: I allow related/established, port 80 and a port for SSH on INPUT, then this on OUTPUT: 7906 474K DROP tcp -- any any anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:smtp 0 0 ACCEPT tcp -- any any localhost.localdomain yw-in-f109.1e100.net tcp dpt:submission 0 0 ACCEPT tcp -- any any localhost.localdomain gx-in-f109.1e100.net tcp dpt:ssmtp 0 0 DROP tcp -- any any anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:submission 9 540 DROP tcp -- any any anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:ssmtp This output chain works on my other server and disabling it doesn't get mail delivered either. WEB SERVER: Varnish (80) Nginx (8088) Drupal 7 PHP5-FPM APC MySQL All works beautifully, except for outgoing email. What else could it be? I understand phpmailer does NOT require a local MTA or procmail (this is sort of the point - I don't want the security or admin overhead of a full blown MTA on my web server). Am I wrong? Do I need an MTA as well? What local ports and programs are used to authenticate over SSL and route mail using phpmailer? Any ideas at all greatly appreciated - wasted a day on this nonsense already!

• Need recommendation: which USB card (PCMCIA) works with external hard drive?

  I have an HT-Link Cardbus/PCMCIA USB 2.0 2-port card (NEC / 32-bit). My external hard drive w/USB adapter won't work with it, and it will work plugged directly into a USB port on a different laptop. (My USB ports got fried.) I got the card off E-Bay. My MP3 player works plugged into that card. The drivers for the card say "Known limitations: High Speed Isochronus, USB Composite Devices." (No other details provided.) I don't know if the hard drive adapter is "isochronous" or "composite." I've read there are problems with too little power being supplied to the drive. The cable to the drive has two USB plugs on one end, and it doesn't make any difference if I plug both of them into the Cardbus card. What card should I get? I see many different brands on E-Bay. I need one that supplies sufficient power for an external hard drive, and doesn't have any "known limitations" in the way.

  I'm getting drawing cache of the view, that is set as contentView to the Activity. Then I set new content view to the activity and pass that drawing cache to it. But Android recycles my bitmaps and I'm getting this exception: 06-13 01:58:04.132: E/AndroidRuntime(15106): java.lang.RuntimeException: Canvas: trying to use a recycled bitmap android.graphics.Bitmap@40e72dd8 Any way to fix it? I had an idea to extend Bitmap class, but it's final. Why GC is recycling it?

  I get the following error while openning a .xls file in Libreoffice Calc, Ubuntu 12.04 [LibreOffice 3.5.5.2; Build ID: 350m 1 (Build:2)] To overcome this I checked the LibreOffice Security Level to Low under Macro Security (from Tools---- Options--- Security tab. Then I went ahead intalling java by running the following commands from the terminal window (with some tips from various forums) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libreoffice libreoffice-java-common libreoffice-math libreoffice-gnome libreoffice-java-common Still I got the BASIC runtime error (as in the title), even after clicking Tools---- Options ---- Java and checking the 'Use a Java runtime environment option' and then clicking on 'Sun Microsystems Inc' under listed JRE environments installed. Even I ran the following commands to install latest Java run time environments from terminal window sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre icedtea-7-plugin But still I get the same Basicruntime error (details as in the title bar). This particular file opens perfectly in Microsoft Excel 2007, in Win XP Professional.

  Problem: In my current project, we use copy.asmx web services in SharePoint2010 to upload a document to a document library. In one of the document library, when uploading a document with a choice field, it blows up and the error message is Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute. Analysis: After some research , we found out the problem is that we have 2 content types that both have a field called Document Type , although the internal name are different but the display name are exactly the same and this cause the problem. I am still not too sure why, it could possibly a SharePoint bug. Solution: After rename one of the field display name to a different name, it works like a charm.   SQL Server Agent fails to start because of the error 15281 is a very common error. When you start to restart SQL Agent sometimes it will give following error. SQL Server blocked access to procedure ‘dbo.sp_get_sqlagent_properties’ of component ‘Agent XPs’ because this component is turned off as part of the security configuration for this server. A system administrator can enable the use of ‘Agent XPs’ by using sp_configure. For more information about enabling ‘Agent XPs’, search for ‘Agent XPs’ in SQL Server Books Online. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15281) To resolve this error, following script has to be executed on the server. sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1; GO RECONFIGURE; GO sp_configure 'Agent XPs', 1; GO RECONFIGURE GO When you run above script, it will give a very similar output as following on the screen. Now, if you try to restart SQL Agent it will just work fine. That’s it! Sometimes there is a simpler solution to complicated error. • xubuntu 12.04 totally refuses to boot after install with wubi on old computer. any tips or suggestions on things i can do to fix this problem?

  so, i downloaded xubuntu 12.04 32-bit (not alt version) from the xubuntu.org website and placed the .zip into a folder named XUBUNTU on my desktop. i then extracted the files to that folder and ran wubi. i selected xubuntu from the drop down and clicked install. i let it do its thing and then chose the option to reboot when prompted. this is when i went to my girlfriends house for the day and left my laptop (dell latitude 120L) to finish the install. i came back home (about 8 hours later) to find my computer on the windows 7 log in screen when i rebooted my computer once more. i booted xubuntu just fine and things seemed to work perfectly. i turned off the pc and went to bed. next morning i booted xubuntu again without problems. i rebooted and went to windows, then next time i tried booting xubuntu in the middle of the splash screen it went black and the cpu light stopped blinking. i force shut down the computer and tried booting again when the same thing happened (instead of going black the splash just froze). i went back to windows and uninstalled and reintalled the os and havent beej able to boot it since. i even tried booting lubuntu with the same problem. please help!

  I have been reading some web pages and posts here and in other forums about how to create a Windows 7 installation Usb media (to install windows 7 using a usb) from linux. I asked in technet about this , and they give me general ideas about how to do it I personally am not very familiar with linux, but basicaly all that you need to do... in whatever way you do it is the following: Format a usb flash drive, either fat32 or ntfs create a partition that is large enough to host the windows installation (give or take 3GB for 64bit, aroudn 2.5gb for 32bit) and mark that partition as active/bootable. Since this can be done with windows, but just as well with a tool like gparted, you should be able to do the same in debian. Once you have created that partition, mount the iso that you download, and copy all files starting from the root, into the root of the usb flash drive. That's all there's to it. There is a method that i found in various places,that is almost the same that the man of technet has said. But,there is a step,that in that method is done,that i don't know if it is really necessary,or not. Not allways dd works.Basically, the missing step was to write a proper boot sector to the usb stick, which can be done from linux with ms-sys. This works with the Win7 retail version. Here is the complete rundown again: Install ms-sys Check what device your usb media is asigned - here we will assume it is /dev/sdb. Delete all partitions, create a new one taking up all the space, set type to NTFS, and set it bootable: *# cfdisk /dev/sdb* Create NTFS filesystem: *# mkfs.ntfs -f /dev/sdb1* Mount iso and usb media: *# mount -o loop win7.iso /mnt/iso # mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb* Copy over all files: *# cp -r /mnt/iso/* /mnt/usb/* Write Windows 7 MBR on usb stick: *# ms-sys -7 /dev/sdb* ...and you're done. Shouldn't the usb work without doing the last step "# ms-sys -7 /dev/sdb" or to make the usb bootable , is a must , not only to mark the partition as bootable ? Would be better use rsync instead of cp -r ? All this steps should be done as root, i suppose , or if not , chmod to 664 and chown the directories where are mounted the usb and the iso, no ? But i suppose that the easier thing is to copy the data as root , and that this will not affect to the data. Has anyone tried this method or some similar like copying the iso with dd ?

• Why is Windows Update trying to install an update I don't need?

  I have a Windows 7 system that currently has a single update pending: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems If I try to install the update, Windows Update will: Create a restore point Fail with the error: Code 9C48 Windows Update encountered an error. The event log for the event reads: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems. If you search the web for that error, there are many other people with the exact same issue. Sadly, I am unable to apply the proposed solutions to my case, because I just installed this system. There is nothing on it, except Windows 7. I installed the system and ran through the updates. I also did the exact same process with this machine several times over the past few days due to a long-term test we just started. I didn't have any problems with any Windows Update on the previous installation runs and I know I didn't do anything different this time because I followed the installation procedures instructions which are to be used during the test. How did this happen and how do I solve it? Further Investigation So, as I always like to do, I ran the update again while running Process Monitor and dug up further details. WindowsUpdate.log First of all, there is a Windows Update log file located at C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log which I didn't know about. • SQL SERVER – FIX ERROR – Cannot connect to . Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452)

  Just a day ago, I was doing small attempting to connect to my local SQL Server using IP 127.0.0.1. The IP is of my local machine and SQL Server is installed on the local box as well. However, whenever I try to connect to the server it gave me following strange error. Cannot connect to 127.0.0.1. Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452) The reason was indeed strange as I was trying to connect from local box to local box and it said my login was from an untrusted domain. As my system is not part of any domain, this was really confusing to me. Another thing was that I have been always able to connect always using 127.0.0.1 to SQL Server and this was a bit strange to me. I started to think what did I change since it  last time I connected to SQL Server. Suddenly I remembered that I had modified my computer’s host file for some other purpose. Solution: I opened my host file and immediately added entry like 127.0.0.1 localhost. Once I added it I was able to reconnect to SQL Server as usual. The location of the host file is C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. You will find file with the name hosts in it, make sure to open it with notepad. If you are part of a domain and your organization is using active directory, make sure that your account is added properly to active directory as well have proper security permissions to execute the task. So when the values are submitted, they are stored into the DB, very very basic stuff. Given this class constructor: public class SecuredDomainViewModel<TDomainContext, TEntity> : DomainViewModel<TDomainContext, TEntity> where TDomainContext : DomainContext, new() where TEntity : Entity, new() public SecuredDomainViewModel(TDomainContext domainContext, ProtectedItem protectedItem) : base(domainContext) { this.protectedItem = protectedItem; } And its creation this way: DomainViewModel d; d = new SecuredDomainViewModel<MyContext, MyEntityType>(this.context, selectedProtectedItem); Assuming I have 20 different EntityTypes within MyContext, is there any easier way to call the constructor without a large switch statement? Also, since d is DomainViewModel and I later need to access methods from SecuredDomainViewModel, it seems I need to do this: if (((SecuredDomainViewModel<MyContext, MyEntityType>)d).CanEditEntity) But again "MyEntityType" could actually be one of 20 diffent types. Is there anyway to write these types of statements where MyEntityType is returned from some sort of Reflection?

  HI guys, I need to be able to make an ajax call to be made after every few minutes. Basically the ajax call would be to check on new emails in an inbox. If there are new emails it would download the emails to a database. I got all the server side code set up fine. I just need to know how do I set up on the front end the part where the ajax call is made after every few minutes plus it should be set up such that we don't end up with parallel ajax calls being made i.e if the ajax call hasn't returned a response it shouldn't start a new ajax request.

• Why do I need an IoC container as opposed to straightforward DI code?

  I've been using Dependency Injection (DI) for awhile, injecting either in a constructor, property, or method. I've never felt a need to use an Inversion of Control (IoC) container. However, the more I read, the more pressure I feel from the community to use an IoC container. I played with .NET containers like StructureMap, NInject, Unity, and Funq. I still fail to see how an IoC container is going to benefit / improve my code. I'm also afraid to start using a container at work because many of my co-workers will see code which they don't understand. Many of them may be reluctant to learn new technology. Please, convince me that I need to use an IoC container. I'm going to use these arguments when I talk to my fellow developers at work.
