It could be a new feature, a fix, a behavior change, a tip, etc. #6 Java API for WebSocket 1.1 JSR 356 (Java API for WebSocket) has recently passed the Maintenance Release ballot, this Maintenance Release fixes an important issue when Java SE 8 Lambdas are used (see here). GlassFish 4.1 will include an updated version of Tyrus (JSR 356 Reference Implementation) to bring the WebSocket API level to the latest version of the specification, i.e. WebSocket API for Java 1.1. It should be mentioned that the Tyrus version included in GlassFish 4.1 also brings additional features.   I'm on a team of students working on a third-person adventure game that takes place inside a pinball machine (like, small scale, on the surface, avoiding pinballs, etc). One of my responsibilities on the project is to find games that are similar to this concept in appearance and/or gameplay for reference. So, does anyone know of games (other than pinball) that takes place in a pinball-like environment? Or, adventure games that take place in small, cramped environments with multiple paths around the world? Or games in which the player is often bombarded with balls (or other similar unintelligent obstacles)? Or games that take place on a small scale?

I'm pretty convinced my math is solid with respect to line plane intersection, but I believe the problem lies with the changing of the mouse screen touch into 3D world space. • How do I implement Unreal-like object serialization?

  Recently, I've been working on the core of my engine, and as I'm moving forward I find myself developing throwaway code to read files and simple data into the engine. This got me thinking about how I should implement a file management system. After a bit of googleing I came across the Unreal Package format, and boy does it look like the perfect one. I think it's good because the way how it allows you to separate different assets into different packages and allow something like a level to reference the different packages. I was just wondering, is this possible with C#? Because the built-in serialization API in .NET does not seem to support any form of this, only reading and writing to a single file.

• Single responsibility principle - am I overusing it?

There are three basic tasks which could be carried out - View existing ledger entries in table format. Create new ledger entry using create button. Click on a ledger entry in the table (mentioned in first pointer) and view its details in next page. You could nullify a ledger entry in this page. (There are couple more operation/validations in each page but fore sake of brevity I will limit it to these) So I decided to create three different classes - LedgerLandingPage CreateNewLedgerEntryPage ViewLedgerEntryPage These classes offer the services which could be carried out in those pages and Selenium tests use these classes to bring application to a state where I could make certain assertion. When I was having it reviewed with on of my colleague then he was over whelmed and asked me to make one single class for all. Though I yet feel my design is much clean I am doubtful if I am overusing Single Responsibility principle

• How can menu bars that require a right click be activated like Ubuntu versions <10.10?

  I've noticed that NetworkManager only has a single, left or right, click menu and no longer has an About menu option to show it's splash screen. In fact all the top bar mini short cut icons have been amputated and crippled leaving them with no rights. This severely impacts on our custom aps., similar to FireFox bookmarks, which can no longer be right clicked to bring up a context menu. It is possible to disengage FF's File|Edit|... menu bar from the top by running it in safe-mode so the menu bar is resident in a window, restoring right clicks, but our aps. do not have "safe modes". How can right clicks in menu bars be restored? reference

• Error installing Package Control for Sublime Text 3 on Ubuntu 14.04

  This is the error. It comes up when I paste and enter the installation code (which I get from the Package Control website) and each time I open up Sublime Text. Package Control Your system's locale is set to a value that can not handle non-ASCII characters. Package Control can not properly work unless this is fixed. On Linux, please reference your distribution's docs for information on properly setting the LANG environmental variable. As a temporary work-around, you can launch Sublime Text from the terminal with: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 sublime_text I had the same problem with Ubuntu 13.04 so it's probably not version-dependent.

  I noticed to my surprise that an event created with dispatchEvent(event) gets handled directly when called, and not together with other events at a specific phase of the frame loop. Two main reasons of having an event system are: so that you can call code B from code A, but still want to prioritize code A. to make sure there are no freaky loopedy loops where code A calls code B calls code A ... I wonder what Ansca's rationale behind having events being handled directly this way is. And does Corona handle loopedy loops and other such pitfalls gracefully?   In Objective-C, there are several methods like initWithContentsOfFile:encoding:error: where one passes in a reference to an NSError object for the error: parameter. In this example, the value of the NSError object passed in can change based on what goes on at runtime when the method is being called and whether the body of the method was executed in a certain way successfully. In a way I think of this NSError object as sort of like a second return value from the method, and only differs from an object anObject in the statement return anObject; in that when this statement is called, execution leaves the method. So my question is, not only in the context of error handling in Objective-C, but in general, when should one use an "out" parameter in place of returning said value in a return statement?

• Keypress Left is called twice in Update when key is pressed only once

  I have a piece of code that is changing the position of player when left key is pressed. It is inside of Update() function. I know, Update is called multiple times, but since I have an ifstatement to check if left arrow is pressed, it should update only once. I have tested using print statement that once pressed, it gets called twice. Problem: Position updated twice when key is pressed only once. Below given is the structure of my code: void Update() { if (Input.GetKeyDown (KeyCode.LeftArrow)) { print ("PRESSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDD"); } } I looked up on web and what was suggested id this: if (Event.current.type == EventType.KeyDown && Event.current.keyCode == KeyCode.LeftArrow) { print("pressed"); } But, It gives me an error that says: Object reference not set to instance of an object How can I fix this?

  I have the need to store random contents (on my local hard drive/ laptop hard drive) for personal use so I can look these contents up later on when I need them. What I mean by random content is one of the following: Some sort of code Random fact Css / html / Javascript tips Or anything I might find interesting and want to keep for future reference I want to look up these entries by tags, the software should give me the ability to associate every entry with one tag or more. I have been having difficult time find applications offer this functionality, it is like a local database with search ability and easy data-entry methods. I can build one, but I don't have the time to invest in doing so. Can you refer me to any application/software that can do that, it would be great. It does not matter if it is paid or free.

• When JDeveloper IDE doesn't render the visual editor

  Though with Oracle JDeveloper 11g the problem of the IDE not rendering JSF pages properly in the visual editor has become rare, there always is a way for the creative to break IDE functionality. A possible reason for the visual editor in JDeveloper to break is a failed dependency reference, which often is in a custom JSF PhaseListener configured in the faces-config.xml file. To avoid this from happening, surround the code in your PhaseListener class with the following statement (for example in the afterPhase method) public void afterPhase(PhaseEvent phaseEvent) {   if(!ADFContext.getCurrent().isDesigntime()){ ... listener code here ... } } The reason why the visual editor in Oracle JDeveloper fails rendering the WYSIWYG view has to do with how the live preview is created. To produce the visual display of a view, JDeveloper actually runs the ADF Faces view in JSF, which then also invokes defined PhaseListeners. With the code above, you check whether the PhaseListener code is executed at runtime or design time.If it is executed in design time, you ignore all calls to external resources that are not available at design time.

• Dynamic content realoding

  Is there a relatively simple way to dynamicaly reload content files? (ie: effect files) I know i can do following: Detect change of file Run content pipeline to rebuild that specific file Unload ALL content that was loaded Load All content And use double references to reference content files. Problem is with step 3 (and step 2 isn't that nice too). But i need to unload everything because if i have model Hero.x which references Model.fx effect, and i change Model.fx file, i need to reload Hero.x file which will then call LoadExternalReference on Model.fx. So I guess question is, did someone mange to make this work without rewriting whole ContentManager (and every ContentReader) and tracking calls to LoadExternalReference?

  I have 2 websites, and on both websites, randomly on time, get's redirected automatically to porn sites. I can't figure out if it's something in the code or if the webhost is infected somehow. The two sites is: http://www.storkas.com/vm and http://www.prowebdesign.no/vm. Where should i start to find out what's happening..? I scanned the sites on hxxp://sitecheck.sucuri.net. One odd thing i saw there, is a reference to: hxxp://js.nohealth.org/js/jquery-1.1.js. I do not have this in my html code..

Unfortunately the practice sometimes breaks down and becomes ineffective. In looking for ways to tweak our process I came across two articles describing parallel pair programming: Parallel Pair Programming Death of paired programming. Its 2008 move on to parallel pairing While these are good resources I wanted to read a bit more on the topic. As you can imagine Googling for variations on parallel pair programming nets mostly results which relate to parallel programming. What I'm after is additional discussion on the topic of parallel pair programming. Do additional references exist that my Google-fu is unable to discern? Has anyone used the practice and care to share here (thus creating a reference)?

  Despite having started learning programming with Pascal and C, after the jump to OO (C++, Java) I lost sense of the structured programming paradigm. I have started learning Lua and I have researched many tutorials, but all of them only cover basic operations and language features and capabilities. They feel more like a reference doc than a programmer's guide. Now, when trying to work with day to day tasks, how does one go through most common design patterns like observer, or multithreaded programming, creating UI elements and polling system calls for keyboard or sensors? Is it even feasible in this languages or you have to work with the C binding, libraries and low-level programming to get most stuff done? Do I get the Lua scope wrong?
