• Windows 7 x64 wired connection problem. IP, gateway, dns assigned, can't ping. Network detected as "Network"

  I am having a problem connecting to a specific wired network with my Latitude E6410 laptop. Other wired networks seem to work fine, but this one does not. I have a coworker with me with the same Intel 82577LM Gigabit Network card, and he can connect just fine. I've updated to the latest Intel drivers (11.8.75.0) and am not using Pro Set. I obtain all DHCP information just fine (IP, netmask, DNS server, default gateway). I cannot ping anything (internal or on the Internet - I tried pinging Google's public DNS servers by IP 8.8.8.8), nor can I get answers to any DNS queries through NS Lookup. Windows troubleshooting says everything is fine, but I can't get DNS responses. I've seen issues like this in the past that were related to link speed/duplex autonegotiaion failures, so I've tried manually setting link speed/duplex to all values one by one with no success. My coworker is using all default settings, so he is just using autonegotiate. Any ideas of other things to try?

  [Running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit] My new HP Pavilion Elite HPE-450t has been plagued by BSDO crashes since I got it about 5 weeks ago. The crashes are somewhat rare, sometimes not occurring for 3 or 4 days. • Windows 7 - User profile corrupted on standby/hibernate

  I have a friend who uses Windows 7 for her home PC. She has a RAID1 array that is using up-to-date Intel Matrix storage drivers, and the entire array is backed up to a separate internal SATA HDD via Acronis True Image every night. Over the weekends, she lets her machine go into suspend after 4 hours of inactivity, and then later into hibernation after 6 hours of inactivity. Her Acronis backup system does nightly incremental backups, and full backups every Saturday night. She also has AVG Free Antivirus installed which does full scans every Monday. So far, on two occasions, on Sunday morning, her user profile is corrupt. I couldn't find any solution that allowed me to repair her profile, so I end up having to (as suggested by MS Knowledge Base, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile ;, Yep, no solution to fixing it, just clobber the whole thing) recreating her profile, then copying over data, recreating her Outlook profile, reconfiguring all third-party applications, etc. It's a real nightmare, and takes 4 hours to do each time. Are there any suggestions on how to resolve this profile corruption? This was happening even before the RAID/Acronis solution was in place, but I thought I'd provide as much information as possible.

It's completly unusable... I tried: Totem VLC mplayer The result is always same issue. I sent the same video file to a friend who has ubuntu 10.04 to test, and he also has the same issue. He has Windows 7, and confirms that on Windows, the video work well. I have an Intel® Core™2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz × 2 with GF 9600 GT, with closed NVIDIA drivers. This is not any kind of issue with big files playing slow from an HDD issue. I have an SSD drive! I spent the last days and nights, trying hundreds of commands for ffmpeg, handbrake, mencoder... Any of them won't let me create a file with enough quality. I downloaded few movies from YouTube in 1080p, and playback worked well without any big pixels and choppiness. I would like have highest possible quality, I will put following files onto a Blu-ray disk so I don't need to compress them to get a smaller size. I just want smoth playback on my Linux box. On Windows, the same file is working well.

• Reducing video mode switching during Linux boot

  When I boot up my desktop computer, which only has Linux on it, the video mode and/or console font gets switched four times: When GRUB starts, it switches from 80x25 text to a graphical mode so it can draw a pretty background behind its menu; GRUB then goes back to 80x25 text after I pick something from the menu; When the KMS driver for my video card loads, it switches to a much higher-resolution text mode (I don't know if this is a hardware text mode or not); Finally X starts and it goes graphics and stays that way. I think this last switch does not change the resolution of the video mode, only the graphicalness. I'd like to get rid of as many of these mode switches as possible. Ideally, when GRUB takes over from the BIOS it would go directly to the same high-resolution text mode that the KMS driver selects, and the display would stay in that mode till X starts and brings up graphics. I am under the impression that this is possible by mucking with the kernel command line and/or the GRUB console module load parameters, but I don't know the details. GRUB 1.98+20100706, kernel 2.6.32.15 using Nouveau video drivers. Distro is Debian unstable. Please no answers that involve recompiling anything or cobbling together bleeding-edge kernel/driver combinations, I don't care enough about this to go to that much trouble. EDIT: Tobu suggests setting GRUB_GFXMODE to the full pixel resolution of the monitor, and GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep to avoid the mode switch after the menu goes away. This does part of what I want, but winds up being worse overall. There's no mode switch after the menu, but there's still a painfully-slow screen repaint (I should probably just give up on GRUB's gfxmode, it's waaaay too slow at 1920x1200). • PHP enable sqlite phpinfo states --without-sqlite

  I've seen similar questions but none that address my situation adequately. I'm running Apache and PHP 5.3.6 on a amazon cloud server. phpinfo keeps stating that sqlite is disabled. At least that what it seems from the configure line: './configure' ... '--without-sqlite' In other parts of phpinfo() output: PDO PDO drivers mysql, sqlite PDO Driver for SQLite 3.x enabled SQLite Library 3.6.20 sqlite3 SQLite3 support enabled SQLite3 module version 0.7-dev SQLite Library 3.6.20 Directive Local Value Master Value sqlite3.extension_dir no value no value and at least one the following PHP commands fail: if (!extension_loaded('SQLite') OR !function_exists('sqlite_open')) Yum install states that both sqlite and pdo-lite are already installed. I've tried to enable sqlite by editing my local php.ini by adding: ; Enable sqlite3 extension module extension=sqlite3.so I've checked the main php.ini (/etc/php.ini) and there is nothing specific about disabling it. In fact, there is a sub-conig file loaded in php.d that also specifies this extension as well as another for the pdo-sqlite I'm running of things to look for or try. Any suggestions. • Asus MyCinema U3100mini Choppy

  I'm running an Asus MyCinema U3100mini ATSC on Windows 7 64-bit. When I play live TV in Windows Media Center, it's very choppy and uses 500+ MB of RAM, I'm guessing due to the hard drive buffering functionality. Is there any way to disable the live TV pause buffer completely? If not, can anyone recommend alternative software that: Works with the MyCinema. Is lightweight and not horribly bloated with features I'll never use like Windows Media Center is. Edits: This is a dual boot system. I've discovered that the tuner actually works fine on XP. It also works fine on my other computer, which has slower hardware and also runs Windows 7 64-bit. The problem actually seems to be with playback at large screen sizes, not with hard drive buffering. Everything works fine below a certain window size and fails for large windows or full screens. Also, the same thing seems to happen whether playing live or recorded TV. As far as the obvious stuff goes, I have the latest video drivers from ATI for my Radeon x1050.

• AMD Fusion GPU passthrough to KVM or Xen

  Has anyone successfully gotten a passthrough working with the GPU portion of AMD's Fusion APUs (the E-350 is my target) on top of a Linux hypervisor? IE, I want to dedicate the GPU to one VM only, excluding all other VMs as well as the host. I know PCI passthrough can work with patches / kernel rebuilds for Xen and KVM. However, since the GPU is on the same chip, I don't know if the host OS will see it as PCI. I know there are a number of tangential issues here, such as: Poor Fusion drivers in Linux at the moment Unsuccessful patching efforts seem common VT-d / IOMMU is required and (from my reading) is supported on the APU, but the motherboard may not offer it KVM doesn't appear to support primary graphics cards, only secondary graphics cards (described here) However, I'd like to hear from anyone who has messed with this, even failed attempts. Fedora + KVM is my preferred virtualization platform but I'm willing to change that if it makes a difference. EDIT: The goal is to do this for a Windows 7 guest (I know it's asking a lot). Regardless, just assume this is HVM, not PV.

• Debian - starting UFW (Uncomplicated Firewall) before network interfaces are operational

  I want to install UFW on Debian Lenny. Everything looks straightforward except that I don't know where to plug UFW startup script so that it configures iptables before hax0rs can break in. I've reviewed runlevel directories and in /etc/rc0.d, /etc/rc6.d and /etc/rcS.d there are items like these: S35networking -> ../init.d/networking S36ifupdown -> ../init.d/ifupdown Runlevel 0 and 6 are for shutdown and reboot so I guess nothing should be changed there, but runlevel S advertises itself (in README) like something for me: The scripts in this directory whose names begin with an 'S' are executed once when booting the system, even when booting directly into single user mode. The following sequence points are defined at this time: * After the S40 scripts have executed, all local file systems are mounted and networking is available. All device drivers have been initialized. (What bothers me is that both rc0/6.d and rcS.d point to the same networking and ifupdown scripts, but after looking at sources I believe those scripts are smart enough to figure out where to start and where to stop networking.) Now, I think that I should plug my /lib/ufw/ufw-init into /etc/rcS.d, with priority higher that the one of ifupdown and networking, i.e. <= 38 for my /etc/rcS.d. Am I right in this "analysis" ?

• Using Toshiba 22EL833 as PC display through HDMI input

  I had another Toshiba TV - 19SL738 - connected to this same PC and video card (GTX 8800) through DVI<-HDMI (DVI on PC side, HDMI on TV) before, that was working perfectly at it's native resolution 1360x768. Some time ago I had to change to 22EL833 and immediately faced problem with Windows 7 control panel and NVIDIA control panel both reporting native resolution for new TV as 1080i, 1920x1280, despite TV documentation saying that it have same 1360x768 as previous one. Practical tests confirmed that true native resolution is indeed 1360x768, because plugging in through DVI<-VGA and setting custom resolution through NVIDIA panel shown clear colors and crisp image, while setting anything different with either DVI<-VGA or DVI<-HDMI produced horribly distorted or squished images, with almost unreadable slim lines (as in letters, for example). Now, my problem is that there's no drivers for this TV and I'm unable to get good image while connecting it through DVI<-HDMI directly. The best I've achieved is editing EDID/driver manually, to persuade system that native resolution should be 1360x768, and while image became mostly clear, colors turned to some strange washed out effect, with pools of pure yellow, cyan and magenta there and there filling place of other colors. Gradients also became noticeably stripped as well. Somehow it looks like dithering gone bad and makes me suspect that image is still down/upscaled several times internally somewhere along the line. How can I connect this TV to DVI output of my video card to get best possible clear image, correct colors and correct native resolution?

• How do I improve my screen resolution in Windows Remote Desktop?

  I'm RDP'ing into a Win2K3 machine from a WinXP machine, and I cannot stand the low screen resolution I get on the Win2K3 box. Text is too large and the graphics/colors aren't very smooth. How do I improve this? If I right-click on the desktop of the remote machine and go to Properties - Settings, I see that the screen resolution is set to 1280x1024 (should be okay, I would think), and the color quality is Medium (16 bit) (not optimal) and I don't have the option to change either setting (because they're set in the .rdp file for the session, right?). If I move over to the Appearance tab, I see that font size is set to Normal, with no option to make it smaller. The thing is, these settings are close to what I have on the XP machine I'm RDP'ing in from. The only difference (in those settings) is the color quality, which is 32 bit. Any ideas on how I can improve the situation? Other tidbits: The graphics card on the Win2K3 machine is ATI ES1000. I think I have the latest drivers for it. I'm running VMware Workstation on the Win2K3 machine, and if I create a Win2K3 VM and RDP into it from the XP machine, the resolution is just fine.

• Accessing Virtual Host from outside LAN

  I'm setting up a web development platform that makes things as easy as possible to write and test all code on my local machine, and sync this with my web server. I setup several virtual hosts so that I can access my projects by typing in "project" instead of "localhost/project" as the URL. I also want to set this up so that I can access my projects from any network. I signed up for a DYNDNS URL that points to my computer's IP address. This worked great from anywhere before I setup the virtual hosts. Now when I try to access my projects by typing in my DYNDNS URL, I get the 403 Forbidden Error message, "You don't have permission to access / on this server." To setup my virtual hosts, I edited two files - hosts in the system32/drivers/etc folder, and httpd-vhosts.conf in the Apache folder of my WAMP installation. In the hosts file, I simply added the server name to associate with 127.0.0.1. I added the following to the http-vhosts.conf file: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot "c:/wamp/www/ladybug" ServerName ladybug ErrorLog "logs/your_own-error.log" CustomLog "logs/your_own-access.log" common </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot "c:/wamp/www" ServerName localhost ErrorLog "logs/localhost-error.log" CustomLog "logs/localhost-access.log" common </VirtualHost> Any idea why I can't access my projects from typing in my DYNDNS URL? Also, is it possible to setup virtual hosts so that when I type in http://projects from a random computer outside of my network, I access url.dyndns.info/projects (a.k.a. my WAMP projects on my home computer)? • How to fix Quicktime video color problems on nVidia chipset and Windows XP?

  My laptop frequently plays video as if in very low-color mode. Though the sound remains clear, it looks terrible, showing only a few shades of red, blue, or yellow. (It's even worse than 8-bit color.) The problem doesn't happen consistently, so I'm looking for troubleshooting advice or known solutions. I use a Dell Latitude D620 laptop with Windows XP, on-board nVidia video chipset, Quicktime, and multiple monitors (laptop screen + VGA-connected LCD). Color problems happen in each application I tried, iTunes, a browser, and the Quicktime standalone player. It doesn't happen right after reboot, so could be from a sleep-wake cycle, or at least being on for an extended period. Google results suggest reinstalling nVidia drivers, which I've done several times with no change. I have found 2 workarounds. Reboot, sacrificing significant time and disrupting work In nVidia control panel, change color to 16-bit, and then back to 32-bit This happens with all video playback, so it's definitely not one corrupt file. I use workaround #2 consistently, but would love a longer-term solution.

• Black Screen on Logon (windows 7 home premium)

  i have been having some trouble with a dell Xps 15 laptop that i recently purchased. it is under a month old, and a problem has occurred, upon logging on just after start up, the computer will just sit on a black log on screen (with the mouse still visible and active) for a few minutes. it is extremely annoying, especially when im in a rush. the laptop is under a month old. So far, i have tried to update the drivers, all windows update, and still, nothing. also, it doesnt seem to do it when i log into safe mode, or if it does, it will do it for less than 10 seconds, then load the desktop (in normal boot, it usually takes a few minutes). i have also run a number of the inbuilt diagnostics, but found no errors. i want to avoid having to do a system restore for as long as i can. does anyone know anything that can help? (the laptop is running a 500gb SSD, 2gb Nvidia 640m, 8gb ram, 3rd gen i7 quad core with 8 threads) thanks.

• Windows Remote Desktop: "configuring remote session" closes without error

  I have a desktop/laptop pair at home operating x64 Windows 7 (the desktop was upgraded from Windows Vista, works just fine). I remote desktop to them on a daily basis when outside. In recent weeks, I would occasionally fail to connect to my desktop. It can connect and authenticate fine, but the "configuring remote session" dialog would simply close and not show me the desktop window or any error message. There is no error event log relating to this on the desktop computer. Some suggestions call for disabling remote audio, which mine already is, but trying different audio modes did not yield any different result. I am not too sure if this is related to video card drivers (they do get auto-updated), since remote desktop video is supposed to steer via a virtual device driver? Nonetheless the desktop operates three monitors via an ATI Radeon HD5770 (1 Displayport, 2 DVI). I do not see a real problem with that since I can mostly connect and operate it remotely. I try to "remote tunnel" via my home laptop but obviously won't work either as the problem lies in the desktop. What other conditions can cause remote desktop to break without error? UPDATE I came home and still couldn't connect to the desktop until I restarted the entire system.

• What is the best VM for developing WPF apps from within OS X?

  All of my machines are Macs (Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Mini (and Apple TV 2.0 too! :) ) but for my day-job, I develop .NET/WPF applications. Normally I just boot into Boot Camp and develop that way, which of course works great, but there are times when I need to simultaneously get to things on my Mac-side of the equation, so I've bought both VMware 3.1 and Parallels 6. Both work, however, even on my Mac Pro where I paid to upgrade to the better video cards (the NVidia 8600s I think vs. the stock ATI cards) the WPF performance bites!! Now this confuses me since both boast that they support not only hardware-accelerated OpenGL 2.1, but also hardware-accelerated DirectX 9 (VMware even allegedly supports DirectX 10!) via their respective virtual drivers and both can run 3D games just fine, even in a window. But even the simple act of resizing a WPF window that has a tiled background results in some HIDEOUS repainting and resizing behaviors. It's damn near closer to what you'd expect over RDP let alone a software-only renderer (forget accelerated hardware completely!) So... can anyone please tell me WTF WPF is doing differently? More importantly, how can I speed up the WPF performance? Should I switch to VirtualBox that also has support for DirectX? Or am I just gonna have to 'byte' the bullet (sorry... had to. So I like puns! Thank Jon Stewart!) and continue using Boot Camp?

  I'm currently working in an IT position, where I do helpdesk stuff, and predominantly security related issues/consulting (In the loosest sense of the term) In-House and for Service-Contract clients (as the only/acting CCSP [I guess I should say only person with Cisco experience] in my organization). I've professionally written Kernel Mode drivers for a gaming company. Among other things that I'm proud to put on a resume. I think of myself as very reasonably qualified as a System Administrator, With excellent Cisco experience, among other things I think would make a good addition to almost any IT staff in need of a new employee. However, Something has always tripped me up - Human Resources. Let me explain, I decided to skip the university route - I'm immensely glad that I did, The computer science graduates that I've met and work with rarely know much of anything about Computers (Until they gain some 'real' experience), Even when asked about Theoretical Computing fundamentals they can rattle something off about Turing Completeness but rarely do they understand the mathematical underpinnings. In short, I think instead of going to college, I'd rather pick up some real world experience. However, Apparently, Employers rarely think the same way. A quick perusal of jobs through the standard job search engine yields nothing short of a conspiracy to exclude anyone without 'A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent'. Interviews I've had in the past have almost always been entangled with - 1. My Age (Which I can't really change) and 2. Lack of Degree. Employers frequently disregard the CCNA/CCSP, The experience I've gained through internships, My extensive experience in x86 assembly and C, among so many other things I like to think are valuable to employers - In lieu of the fact that I don't have a piece of paper. • Magnetic Stripe Reader over Terminal Server has random Uppercase/Lowercase nonsense

  The Magnetic Stripe Reader that I'm using and testing is just supposed to be sending keystrokes. Unfortunately, it seems to randomly be sending upper case and lower case keystrokes, sometimes substituting % for 5 and ^ for 6 and vice versa. (If you've ever programmed for a magnetic strip reader, you know that's not a good thing.) Is there something in the RDP protocol that causes this? I've got kind of a convoluted system, running XP inside virtualbox on Fedora 11 RDP'ed into a win2k3 server. It works on the XP VM and it doesn't work on the RDP'ed one. What's weirder, is that I'm not even emulating the USB drivers for my Mag Card Reader. Linux is sending keystrokes straight in to windows, and MSTSC on windows XP is sending crap to the Win2k3 server. I'm 99% certain this isn't a problem with the card reader, it has nothing to do with my programming either. (I get the same junk coming into notepad that I get coming into our software [that's why I didn't ask on SO]). And, it works with rdesktop programs other than MSTSC.exe! Needless to say, I'm in need of some RDP Guruship.

• What parts of a motherboard age, and how can I choose one with the longest possible life?

  I have a home-built computer that's probably about four years old. I realize this probably seems ancient to some folks, but computers have no moving parts (except the fans), so theoretically they should last a long time, if I still have software to run on them. A few weeks ago, it began blue-screening and freezing up, with various error messages. It almost always happened about five minutes after startup. I assumed that the video card was overheating, since the cheap little fan on the heatsink died, so I replaced it. Long story short, after upgrading the video drivers a couple of times and performing some other troubleshooting, I remembered that the last time this happened, I took out the memory SIMS and cleaned the contacts with a gum eraser, so I did that again (noting that the SATA cables were very close to the chips on the SIMS). I re-routed the cables and reinstalled the SIMS. So far, so good; the machine has been trouble-free since. But blue-screens are distressing; I never know what bits are being chewed up in my OS installation when something like this happens. So I'm wondering if I'm choosing my components properly. If it matters, it's an Intel D915GAG motherboard and Corsair memory, but what I'm wondering is, should I be looking for certain characteristics when I choose these parts for my next computer, so that I can avoid this problem in my next build?

• How can I uninstall Broadcom Bluetooth software that won't disappear in Windows XP?

  My situation is similar to this question for Windows 7, except my OS is Windows XP SP3. I have recently realized I made the mistake of buying a Bluetooth adapter and installing the Broadcom/Widcomm Bluetooth stack driver software. Now that I know that the software is no good, I want to uninstall it. Then I'll install the Toshiba stack for the Cirago adapter. Right now, when I double-click on the setup.exe file that came with the Cirago driver, nothing happens (it doesn't start setup). I've attempted to uninstall all Bluetooth driver software in Device Manager, and I don't see any remnants of any Bluetooth drivers there. But I do see that the little Bluetooth icon still persists: I don't see anything about Bluetooth, Broadcom, or Widcomm in Add/Remove Programs. I don't see any folder names Broadcom or Widcomm in Program Files folder, either. But I do see that Broadcom does show up in the registry with respect to Bluetooth, as shown here. I also renamed every file in C:\Windows\inf that starts with "bth" so that it ends with ".old". What should I do now to completely wipe this persistent Broadcom Bluetooth software off my computer?

• WEIRD netstat behavior on Windows XP re: www.partypoker.com

  I really don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I would really appreciate if someone that is more savvy on Windows XP (Professional) could help me out. For background, I am a 10+ years programmer, so I'm not a total idiot, but I am far from an expert on TCP/IP, etc, and this has me totally confused. When I do a netstat (on Windows XP) I seem to always get a huge amount of www.partypoker.com connections and I can't figure out where they are coming from. A netstat -o shows me that some are coming from PID xxx, which is firefox, but if I kill it, the connections still remain. Some are coming from PID 0, which makes no sense to me. SECOND PROBLEM: One would think you could edit the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file to block this, but it seems like my machine is ignoring the hosts file! (I have tried with the DNS client service both enabled and disabled, same result). So I just rebooted, killed all my normal programs, and I can't seem to reproduce the problem. If I was a paranoid person, I would think there was some sort of an intelligent trojan running. I am running Windows XP Pro, Kaspersky Antivirus, ccCleaner, and am fully up to date on Windows Update. What gives???? So, I guess my questions are: 1. Is anyone else seeing these wird connections to partypoker.com? 2. Why isn't my hosts filter working? 3. Is there some utility I can run to find out whats happening? I've tried autoruns.exe from sysinternals but don't see anything interesting. Am I the only one with this problem? If there are any additional things you need me to run, let me know.

• Windows Media Center showing Jerky Video on PC

  I had to repave my Windows 7 x64 box last week due to a hard drive crash, and for a while everything was running perfectly but now all videos in Windows Media Center are jerky (the sound is fine, they just seem to skip a ton of frames all the time). This is on the local machine, but the same thing happens when I try to stream to my Xbox. The videos all show fine in VLC and Windows Media Player. I guess I must have installed something recently (in the process of getting all the apps I usually have running on my PC) that caused this but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I have updated to the latest video driver (and then rolled back to the standard Windows 7 driver), I have rolled back all the other drivers that I have installed (I believe). I have uninstalled all the codec packs (I also run TVersity, so I hate the TVersity codec pack installed), and I uninstalled TVersity. Nothing seems to help. I have uninstalled windows media center, and reinstalled it from the Programs and Features. I have basically ran out of things to try to fix this, and am almost thinking about reinstalling Windows again. Any suggestions?

• My Computer hangs for a few minutes just after startup, and then is fine.

  So I just built myself a reasonably beefy computer, and I installed Windows 7 on it. However, I start the machine up each morning and within a few minutes, the computer will semi hang. That is the mouse is responsive, and most of the time I can open task manager, or a new tab in Chrome. Occasionally windows will be labelled as 'Not responding'. Then, the machine will get over it's problem, and will be nice and quick until I turn it off. Here's my specs: CPU: AMD Phenom-II X4 955 Black (Quad Core, 3.2ghz) RAM: 4GB of DDR3 1300 MOBO: ASUS M4A785T-M (Latest BIOS) HARD DRIVES: 2x1TB Western Digital Caviar Blacks in RAID-0. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64. GPU: ASUS GT240 1GB. I believe this issue relates to the RAID array, as I didn't have the lockup problem before I created the array. I purchased a second drive and reformatted after creating a RAID array, since the single drive was a little on the pokey side (compared to the rest of the computer). What I have tried: Updated Raid Drivers Malware checks Windows Updates Unecessary Services CPU and Disk activity appears to be low (via Resource Monitor) No strange errors in the error log. Any thoughts?
