  • How to create a mobile friendly website [infrastructure]

    Hi, if i wanted to create a mobile friendly version of a relatively small website would it be better to have a sub domain that redirects to a completely new url with sperate markup and styling or would it be better to detect the useragent in code and programatically change to a different mobile friendly stylesheet, or is their a better infrastructure based solution i am overlooking..   • Basic visual studio intellisense question

    Ive used visual studio for years, but the answer this eludes me: When intellisense pops up, for a method call that takes more than one parameter, the summary for the first parameter is shown. The only way i've found to show the summary for the following parameter(s) is to either supply each parameter or just hit comma until i get the one im looking for. Ive tried ctrl+right arrow, shift + right arrow etc etc, without success. Just curious is all.

    I want someone to type words in the console, and autocomplete from a list when they hit "tab" key. However, raw_input won't return a string until someone hits [Enter]. How do I read characters into a variable until the user hits [Enter]? *Note: I don't want to use import readline for autocompletion because of OS issues.

  • Custom QAction/QMenu for mouse button detection

    I'm trying to create a popup menu, where I can detect the mouse button that was pressed for a given item. I've created a custom QAction already to build my QMenu, but the triggered signal when the menu item is pressed doesn't provide a QMouseEvent for me to query the button pressed. Also, I'm setting the a status tip for each QAction, which appears in the status bar when I mouse over it, but it stays even after I close the QMenu. Is this normal behavior?

    I am parameterizing my web app's ad hoc sql. As a result, I expect the query plan cache to reduce in size and have a higher hit ratio. Perhaps even other important metrics will be improved. Could I use perfmon to track this? If so, what counters should I use? If not perfmon, how could I report on the impact of this change?

  • priority_queue with dynamic priorities

    Hey, I have a server application which accepts incomming queries and executes them. If there are too many queries they should be queued and if some of the other queries got executed the queued queries should be executed as well. Since I want to pass queries with different priorities I think using a priority_queue would be the best choice. e.g. The amout of the axcepting queries (a) hit the limt and new queries will be stored in the queue. All queries have a priority of 1 (lowest) if some of the queries from (a) get executed the programm will pick the query with the highest priority out of the queue and execute it. Still no problem. Now someone is sending a query with a priority of 5 which gets added to the queue. Since this is the query with the highest priority the application will execute this query as soon as the running queries no longer hit the limit. There might be the worst case that 500 queries with a priority of 1 are queued but wont be executed since someone is always sending queries with a priority of 5 hence these 500 queries will be queued for a looooong time. In order to prevent that I want to increase the prioritiy of all queries which have a lower priority than the query with the higher priority, in this example which have a priority lower than 5. So if the query with a priority of 5 gets pulled out of the queue all other queries with a priority < 5 should be increased by 0.2. This way queries with a low priority wont be queued for ever even if there might be 100 queries with a higher priority.     Ok, so I'm in need to restore a table and I do: mysqldump --opt database table_name < table_name.sql I hit enter and Done! Well, not really, when I go to see if there is anything on the table it show 0 records. I have look into the table_name.sql and I see two records. What am I doing wrong?

There should be continuous communication between my program and database. if the table has 10 rows initially and 2 rows are added by the user, it must detect this and return the rows.     Has anyone expirience this error before: this happens when I hit CTRL + space , here is the error : For those who has tinyurl blocked: This compilation unit is not on the build path of the java project. This is a maven project, mvn eclipse:eclipse doesn't help I mean it compiles and runs just fine just something is wrong and I can't figure out what. I checkouted this project from SVN, it wasn't developed on my PC.

    is the jQuery function "change()" working in IE ? I usually use it to detect changes in forms (select/unselect check boxes), and submit them automatically without having to click on submit button (which is hided). i.e. $("#views-exposed-form-Portfolio-page-1").change(function(){ $("#views-exposed-form-Portfolio-page-1").submit(); }); But in Ie it doesn't work. It seems I have to use "click" instead. thanks
