  • How can I split a formula into multiple lines in OpenOffice calc?

    I have this simple formula: =CONCATENATE("foo";"bar") which renders foobar on the cell. How can I lay this formula in multiple lines in the same cell? I'd like to be able to do something like the following but it doesn't work as the newline in the cell forbids the formula from being executed: =CONCATENATE("foo"; "bar") The reason I'm asking is because I have huge formulas an I need to format them (using newlines and a bit of indentation) for readability. thanks

    I'm migrating from mod_php to nginx. I got everything working except for this rewrite.. I'm just not familiar enough with nginx configuration to know the correct way to do this. So I think maybe it's getting sent to the static files section and that's where things are being messed up?   • Echo 404 directly from nginx to improve performance

    I am in charge of production servers serving static content for a website. Those servers are constantly being crawled by bots looking for potential exploits (which isn't that much of a problem security-wise because no application can be reached behind the web server) but generates thousands of 404 per day, sometimes per hour. I am looking into ways of blocking those requests but it's tricky (you want to make sure you don't block legitimate traffic and these bots are becoming more and more clever at looking like they're legit) and is going to take me a while to find an acceptable solution. In the meantime I would like to reduce the performance impact of serving those 404 pages. Indeed we're using nginx which by default is configured to serve it's 404 page from the disk (This can be changed using the error_page directive but in the end the 404 will either have to be served from disk or from another external source (e.g. upstream application which would be worst)) which isn't ideal. I ran a test with ab on my local machine with a basic configuration: in one case I echo a message directly from nginx so the disk isn't touched at all, in the other case I hit a missing page and nginx serves its 404 from disk. server { # [...] the default nginx stuff location / { } location /this_page_exists { echo "this page was found"; } } Here are the test results (my laptop has Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM + SSD in case you're wondering why they are so high): $ ab -n 500000 -c 1000 http://localhost/this_page_exists Requests per second: 25609.16 [#/sec] (mean) $ ab -n 500000 -c 1000 http://localhost/this_page_doesnt_exists Requests per second: 22905.72 [#/sec] (mean) As you can see, returning a value with echo is 11% ((25609-22905)÷22905×100) faster than serving the 404 page from disk. Accordingly I would like to echo a simple 404 Page not Found string from nginx. I tried many things so far but they all failed, essentially the idea was this: location / { try_files $uri @not_found; } location @not_found { echo "404 - Page not found"; } The problem is that as soon as the echo directive is used, the http response code is set to 200. I tried changing that by doing error_page 200 = 400 but that breaks the configuration. How can I serve a 404 page directly from nginx? (without hacking the source which may be might next step)

  • Vimperator; how to hide scrollbars on tabbar?

    Since the release of the latest version of firefox, I've been having an issue where Vimperator will show scrollbars on its tab-bar. I can't find any relevant options in Vimperator's docs or via googling. The only option that looked remotely relevant was the "scrollbars" setting, but that just determines whether I get scrollbars on Firefox's content window... Is there any particular setting I have to use to hide scrollbars from the tab-bar? (I'm using Waterfox on Win8)

    Is there an Emacs function that toggles between .cpp and .hpp files that are not in the same directories? I know there is toggle-source.el, but it apparently does not handle the case where .cpp and .hpp are not in different directories. But my directory structure is like this: project1/src/foo.cpp project1/include/foo.hpp project2/src/bar.cpp project2/include/bar.hpp It shouldn't be hard to toggle between src/foo.cpp and include/foo.hpp but I don't speak Lisp ... :`(

    SITUATION: A larger company acquires a smaller one. IT infrastructure has to be merged. There are no immediate plans to change the current size or role of the smaller company - the offices and production remain. It has a Win 2003 SBS domain server, Win 2000 file server, linux server for SVN and internal Wikipedia, 2 or 3 production machines, LTO backup solution. The servers are approx. 5 years old. Cisco network equippment (switches, wireless, ASA). Mail solution is a hosted Exchange. There are approx. 35 desktops and laptops in the company. IT infrastructure unification: There are 2 IT merging proposals. 1.) Replacing old servers, installing Win Server 2008 domain controller, and setting up either subdomain or domain trust to a larger company. File server and other servers remain local and synchronization should be set up to a centralized location in larger company. Similary with the backup - it remains local and if needed it should be replicated to a centralized location. Licensing is managed by smaller company. 2.) All servers are moved to a centralized location in larger company. As many desktop machines as possible are replaced by thin clients. The actual machines are virtualized and hosted by Terminal server at the same central location. Citrix solutions will be used. Only router and site-2-site VPN connection remain at the smaller company. Backup internet line to insure near 100% availability is needed. Licensing is mainly managed by larger company. Only specialized software for PCs that will not be virtualized is managed by smaller company. I'd like to ask you to discuss both solutions a bit. In your opinion, which is better from the operational point of view? Which is more reliable, cheaper in the long run? Easier to manage from the system administrator's point of view? Easier on the budget and easier to maintain from IT department's point of view? Does anybody have any experience with the second option and how does it perform in production environment? Pros and cons of both? Your input will be of great significance to me. Thank you very much!

  • NGINX rewrite rules help. Redirect not working and want to get rid of index.php in urls

I have 2 questions for nginx users. 1) I'm trying to setup my joomla server onto my new linode running NGINX and after much (like days) of searching and testing, I finally have a config that works with with SEF url plugins...sorta. I was using an apache system on the old server and it used mod_rewrite and life was fine in terms of SEF. Since NGINX doesn't have mod_rewrite, I found something that works BUT it constantly leaves index.php in the urls. ex: http://mysite.com/index.php/forum i want it to be just http://mysite.com/forum but without mod_rewrite it doesn't seem to be possible in joomla that i'm aware of. I know in wordpress it IS possible but I have to use a plugin. I have tried several variations of: rewrite ^/(.*) http://www.example.com/portal/$1 permanent; but it usually ends with firefox telling me there is some crazy loop happening the address bar saying something like mysite.com/portalportalportalportalportal.........on and on.   • MS Publisher 2003 - hangs when saving to desktop

    We have a win 7 home prem pc, amd cpu, 8G ram, plenty of free disk space. Whenever user is working in publisher 20003, and tries to save a publisher 2003 document to the desktop, the save as dialog hangs and takes 2-3 minutes to display the desktop save location. I've tested excel 2003, it has no problems immediately displaying the desktop save as location and saving the file.

  • Trying to setup virtual hosts on unix PHP on nginx

    I have tried to install php5-fpm and Nginx on Ubuntu machine, but I got a problem. When I have only one virtual host on a unix port it is all fine but when I try to add another virtual host Nginx goes to default web page "Welcome to Nginx!" but when I run it on a tcp port example port 9000 it work fine with multisites. It is a fresh install of ubuntu 11.10, Nginx 1.2.3 with php5-fpm installed. It also has extra php installs such as php-apc. I can only give the links to the virtual hosts because I am doing it from a mobile phone. Here are the links for the two virtual hosts I am using: http://ic0nic.co.uk/ic0nic.txt, http://ic0nic.co.uk/sourproxy.txt also I want to use unix port because I find it a whole lot faster.   • How can I recursively verify the permissions within a given subdirectory?

    I'd like to verify that nothing within /foo/bar is chmod 777. Or, alternatively, I'd like to make sure that nothing within /foo/bar us owned by user1 or in group1. Is there any way I can recursively verify the permissions within a given subdirectory to make sure there aren't any security holes? Notice that I do not want to change all the permissions to something specific, nor do I want to change the owner to something specific, so a recursive chmod or chown won't do it... Thanks!

    I have vsftpd installed on ubuntu. I added a new created a new user and set the users home path to /var/www so I can ftp with that user directly to that location. And that all works, I can now FTP with the user I created directly to that location. However I whenever I ftp, I have no permissions to change anything. How can I change that? Thanks!!

    I'm setting up a custom 403.4 handler so that non-SSL requests to my site are redirected to a different URL - and what I'd like to do is to include the script path and query string in the redirect, so that a user who requests http://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 will be redirected to https://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 I know something similar is possible when configuring a top-level site redirect, using the $S, $Q, %v tokens referred to in this IIS reference page - but this syntax doesn't seem to work when configuring a custom error redirect.
