• "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" Running Tests - VS2008 SP1

  I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite and I'm unable to run tests and display the Test/Windows/Test Result Window. The result is a dialog box with the following content : "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation". Team Explorer has been installed after Visual Studio 2008 SP1. So I have re-apllied the service pack. Searching the web I found that this error is pretty common but unfortunately, the proposed solutions does not work for me. The problem was never analysed so I decided to give it a try : I reproduced the problem on a computer, attached the process with windbg and start with the basic investigations.   Very new to C# and JSON. I have been struggling with this problem for about a day and can't figure it out. JSONLint states both JSON strings are valid. • "must be convertible to System.Web.UI.Page" using custom base page in Visual Studio 2010

  I have a HUGE problem. We just converted our large project to a Visual Studio 2010 solution, but maintained .Net 3.5 targets. This seemed to go swimmingly, almost too easy. Today I just encountered a huge problem. When we add a new asp.net tag to a page the designer class is not being updated. I looked around and noticed that the type specified in the Page's Inherits attribute was underlined in red. Hovering over that gives the error "must be convertible to System.Web.UI.Page". Obviously the designer isn't casting the page correctly and it's because we are using a custom base page, just as we had been with no problems in VS 2008. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what's the solution. This is a show-stopper for us to use VS 2010 (and lots of egg on our faces for moving to it in the first place).

  I've just installed the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 DTK, both standard and professional. Before that I had the standard and professional Windows Mobile 6 SDKs. All Windows Mobile help pages are missing in Visual Studio 2008's help system - in particular everything in the Microsoft.WindowsMobile namespace. Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DirectX is there, but it's not part of the Windows Mobile 6 SDK or 6.5.3 DTK. If I open the WM6 docs from the freshly created program group, then it's all fine and dandy, but there doesn't seem to have been a proper integration with VS during installation. Any ideas what's gone wrong and how to fix it?

• How to keep asm output from Linux kernel module build

  I'm working on a Linux kernel module for a 2.6.x kernel and I need to view the assembly output, though it's currently being done as a temporary file an deleted afterwords. I'd like to have the assembly output mixed with my C source file so I can easily trace where my problem lies. This is for an ARMv6 core and apparently objdump doesn't support this architecture.   Todays cause of hair loss has been the following scenario: I have a service that takes 2 strings and returns another. This service uses basicHttpBinding <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="basicHttpNoSec"> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> Anyway, it works fine from a console test app. I have a silverlight app sat on top which implements another basicHttpBinding service that simply reuses the contract in the other service and the silverlight App uses this service. I have a console app that confirms that this service is working and set up with basichttpbinding. I have all the clientAccessPolicy stuff in place. when I run the silverlight app the difference is that it runs everything async ... as such the only message i directly get back rom wcf is server not found. • Configuring Seam for Glassfish

  Hi all, I am still migrating to Glassfish instead of Jetty for our application servers and am running into some problems. The application starts up fine, the database tables are created by hibernate and data is imported by my database importer, so Seam is alive, running and well. • Replacing build.xml with Build.java - using Java and the Ant libraries as a build system

  I've grown disillusioned with Groovy based alternatives to Ant. AntBuilder doesn't work from within Eclipse, the Groovy plugin for Eclipse is disappointing, and Gradle just isn't ready yet. The Ant documentation has a section titled "Using Ant Tasks Outside of Ant" which gives a teaser for how to use the Ant libraries from Java code. There's another example here: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg16310.html In theory it seems simple enough to replace build.xml with Build.java. The Ant documentation hints at some undocumented dependencies that I'll have to discover (undocumented from the point of view of using Ant from within Java). Given the level of disappointment with Ant scripting, I wonder why this hasn't been done before. Perhaps it has and isn't a good build system. Has anyone tried writing build files in Java using the Ant libraries?

If I try something like: system("kextstat"); No problems. Any ideas why the find string command I'm passing in is not working? All I get is "GDB: Running ....." in xCode. I should mention that if I try the same exact command in terminal it works just fine.

  Sorry for the length of this question, but I thought it best to show as much detail to fend of questions asking if I had done A when I had already done A... ;-) I've had a look at the "micro-SD card initialization using SPI interface" thread and didn't see any answers that matched my issue (i.e. things I haven't already tried). I have a similar issue where I'm trying to access a SD card through a micro-controller's SPI interface (specifically an HC908). I've tried following the flow charts in the Physical Layer Simplified Specification v2.00 and it seems to initialize correctly on Transcend 1GB & 2GB and an AE&C 1GB card. But I'm having problems on 3 other random cards from my stash of old cards that I've used on my camera. My code is all HC908 assembler. I scoped out the SPI clock line and during initialization it's running about 350kHz (the only speed multiplier that the HC908 supplies at my low MCU clock speed that falls within the 100-400kHz window).   Should journal entries be recorded in a database design? In the real world it makes sense to keep a daily entry book, then later transfer the daily entry book into double entry accounts. but in the computerized version, doing this produces duplicate records and that doesn't quite make sense? ???? What i mean is 1) user enter details , it gets recorded (this would be called the journalbook in real life) 2) the software does all the double entry accounting then references the journalbook and splits up the transaction into the double entry accounting system.

  I need to generate an event when a file is closed by another app. Unfortunately, ReadDirectoryChangesW doesn't report the close event. It would be possible for me to poll (with a TTimer) any file that reported by ReadDirectoryChangesW as modified, waiting for it to be closed (using CreateFile to detect this). However, what I'd prefer is a completely event driven solution. Is there a way to hook system calls and detect all file closing events? I simply want to know the path & name of any file that has just been closed.

  I'm trying to start a Wicket Application using Felix implementation of OSGi HTTP service, for that I just register the service using WicketServlet with applicationClassName parameter: props.put("applicationClassName", MainApplication.class.getName()); service = (HttpService)context.getService(httpReference); service.registerServlet("/", new WicketServlet(), props, null); I have also tried using Felix Whiteboard implementation and registering the web service as a Servlet one: props.put("alias", "/"); props.put("init.applicationClassName", MainApplication.class.getName()); registration = context.registerService(Servlet.class.getName(), new WicketServlet(), props); In both cases it fails when I deploy it using Pax Runner and Felix (mvn package install pax:run -Dframework=felix -Dprofiles=log,config), the exception seems to be related with the ClassLoader: [Jetty HTTP Service] ERROR org.apache.felix.http.whiteboard - Failed to register servlet org.apache.wicket.WicketRuntimeException: Unable to create application of class es.warp.sample.HTTPLocalGUI.MainApplication .... .... at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:252) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:320) at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:247) .... .... I have tried to export everything in the bundle and it does the same. The strangest thing is that it works perfectly if I deploy it using Equinox (mvn package install pax:run -Dframework=felix -Dprofiles=log,config). It seems to be a visibilty issue, but I don't know how to fix it, am I doing something wrong? Should I try to extend WicketServlet to take control on the instantiation of the application? Or maybe using an application Factory? Any light is welcomed.

• C# System.Threading.Timer and its state object

  I am writing a C# program that uses System.Threading.Timer to timeout on a UDP socket ReceiveAsync call. My program polls a remote device, sending a UDP packet and expecting one in return. I use the timer in one shot mode calling Timer.Change every time I want a new timeout period. For every occurance of a timeout I'd like the timeout handler to have a different piece of information. If I change the object I pass to the Timer on creation it doesn't seem to change when the handler executes. Is the only way to do this to destroy the timer and create a new one? Thanks,

• A help system for a PHP web app

  Hi, As our new web app gets more complicated, so the need for help docs increases. I am not talking about documenting code, I am literally talking about application help. So myapp/help, or for example, enabling context help from a particular point in the app with a link such as myapp/help/users/create/ etc. Are there apps out there for doing this? For example, Wufoo use wordpress for http://wufoo.com/docs/ which I like (and understand wp, so its a nice solution), and Xero have a lovely ASPX http://help.xero.com/ interface. But I'm thinking there might be more dedicated implementations for what I'm looking for. We're on a linux, apache, postgresql, php stack, but a mysql supported installation is not the end of the world. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? It's a bit of a minefield when googling php + help + system.

• iphone - Programmatically set (System-wide) proxy settings?

  I am new to iPhone development, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I am developing an application whose purpose will be to route all iPhone activity through my company's proxy. Is there a way to programmatically set system-wide proxy settings in the iPhone (which will also take effect on the 3G connection)? I know there is a way to manually set proxy settings for each wifi connection. Detecting new networks and setting the proxy on them would be acceptable. However, I need to also be able to set the proxy on the 3G connection. Also, bonus: Is there a way to programmatically change the "Restrictions" settings? If anyone has any tips or can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks. EDIT: Please understand that this is for a legitimate purpose. Apple has to approve app store additions, so it's not like I'm trying to spread a virus. Please, constructive answers only.

  I have a web service which is queried using linq to sql but returns an array of objects. I keep getting the following error: System.Security.VerificationException: Operation could destabilize the runtime When I run a method that uses a linq statement to return an array I get this error, but only on my test server, which is windows server 2008. Everything works fine in my win 7 machine. The project is a .net 3.5. Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks UPDATE: My linq queries return IQueryable.
