  • iPhone UI: No edit button for UITableView, bad idea?

    - by Nic Hubbard
    I have a UITableViewController which lets the user drill down into different records. On the second level/view, the user can add and edit new records. But, I am not sure what to do, since the back button is on the top left, and I need to put the "Add" button on the top right, so there is no room (keeping to HIG) for the edit button, which would normally go where the back button is. (I am using a tab bar, so can't put it at the bottom.) Do you think that it is logical, to expect users to know to swipe to delete a record? Or, do I need to have an edit button? If I DO need an edit button, where should I put it if I am following HIG?

  • How to change the UIImageView image content by code?

    - by Tattat
    I use this to assign image: UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myImage" ofType:@"png"]]; CGRect cropRect = CGRectMake(175, 0, 175, 175); CGImageRef imageRef = CGImageCreateWithImageInRect([img CGImage], cropRect); imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 175, 175)]; imageView.image = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:imageRef]; [self addSubview:imageView]; CGImageRelease(imageRef); Now, I want to change the image from myImage to myImage2, so I do that: UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myImage2" ofType:@"png"]]; CGRect cropRect = CGRectMake(175, 0, 175, 175); CGImageRef imageRef = CGImageCreateWithImageInRect([img CGImage], cropRect); imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 175, 175)]; imageView.image = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:imageRef]; [self addSubview:imageView]; It works, but not the way I want, I want to change the image, not add a imageView on top of the pervious one. How can I modify my code? thx u.

  • EASY: How does one release memory correctly in the attached C array?

    - by Tricky
    Hi, I'm just trying to work out why the following code is leaking memory and I have a funny feeling that i'm not releasing the array memory correctly. This is a C function in a wider objective-c app and I'm not native to C... i've tried just using free() on the array, but have a feeling this isn't the whole story... Could someone have a look and see what I'm missing here. Thanks! CFIndex theNumberOfSettings = 3; CTParagraphStyleSetting theSettings[3] = { {kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierAlignment, sizeof(CTTextAlignment), &alignment}, {kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierLineSpacing, sizeof(lineSpacing), &lineSpacing}, {kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierHeadIndent, sizeof(headIndent), &headIndent} }; CTParagraphStyleRef theParagraphRef = CTParagraphStyleCreate(theSettings, theNumberOfSettings); CFAttributedStringSetAttribute(attrString, CFRangeMake(0, CFAttributedStringGetLength(attrString)-1), kCTParagraphStyleAttributeName, theParagraphRef); CFRelease(theParagraphRef); free(theSettings);

But signed the app, MapView doesn't work. I've get Google Map API. This works on the simulator. I could sign the app once 2 months ago. Then I've upgraded the app. Now I need to sign the app again. Actually I don't know why signed app's mapView doesn't work. How to fix it ? Please advice. I used following steps when sign the app: Run Eclipse. Select the project. Right Click - Android Tools - Export Signed Application Package - Then Filled forms. (In forms, Validity years: 200, and all passwords are same.) Can you suggest me ? Thanks in advance.

  • Two Problems I'm having with UIButton and UIView.

    - by Andy
    Hi all, I haven't been programming on the iPhone for very long, but I'm picking it up slowly by googling problems I get. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find an answer for these. I have started a new View-based application in Xcode 3.2.2 and immediately added the following files: myUIView.m and myUIView.h, which are subclasses of UIView. In Interface Builder, I set the subclass of the default UIView to be myUIView. I made a button in the drawRect method. Problem one: The title of the button only appears AFTER I click the screen, why? Problem two: I want the button to produce the modalview - is this possible? The code is as follow: #import "myUIView.h" @implementation myUIView - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; button.frame = CGRectMake(0,0,100,100); [button setTitle:@"butty" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonPressed:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self addSubview:button]; } -(void)buttonPressed:(id)sender{ NSLog(@"Button pressed"); //present modal view somehow..? } I can't see how to post attachments, but if anyone thinks it will help I can upload the source. Many thanks, Andy

  • Can't add to NSMutableArray from SecondaryView

    - by Antonio
    Hi guys, I've searched and read and still haven't found a concrete answer. Brief: I have an application where I declare an NSMutableArray in my AppDelegate to synthesize when the application loads. (code below). I have a SecondaryViewController call this function, and I have it output a string to let me know what the array size is. Every time I run it, it executes but it does not add any objects to the array. How do I fix this? AppDelegate.h file #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @class arrayTestViewController; @interface arrayTestAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; arrayTestViewController *viewController; NSMutableArray *myArray3; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *myArray3; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet arrayTestViewController *viewController; -(void)addToArray3; @end AppDelegate.m file #import "arrayTestAppDelegate.h" #import "arrayTestViewController.h" @implementation arrayTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize myArray3; #pragma mark - #pragma mark Application lifecycle - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { myArray3 = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Override point for customization after application launch. // Add the view controller's view to the window and display. [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } -(void)addToArray3{ NSLog(@"Array Count: %d", [myArray3 count]); [myArray3 addObject:@"Test"]; NSLog(@"Array triggered from SecondViewController"); NSLog(@"Array Count: %d", [myArray3 count]); } SecondViewController.m file #import "SecondViewController.h" #import "arrayTestAppDelegate.h" @implementation SecondViewController -(IBAction)addToArray{ arrayTestAppDelegate *object = [[arrayTestAppDelegate alloc] init]; [object addToArray3]; }

  • Modifying the Google Drive menu interface

    - by Dangerbunny
    So I'm working on a web-app for the Google Marketplace that's going to involve integration with Google Drive. Part of what I want to be able to do with the app involves something along the lines of adding a menu option to the Drive menu interface. For instance, you could be editing a document in drive and browse to File-"My new fancy option." Does anyone know if this is possible? Or if it is not, is there another way of adding this sort of custom action functionality where you are able to perform non Drive standard actions on files from within the Drive interface?

  • Why I can't draw in a loop? (Using UIView in iPhone)

    - by Tattat
    I can draw many things using this : NSString *imagePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"dummy2.png" ofType:nil]; UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:imagePath]; image = CGImageRetain(img.CGImage); CGRect imageRect; double x = 0; double y = 0; for (int k=0; k<someValue; k++) { x += k; y += k; imageRect.origin = CGPointMake(x, y); imageRect.size = CGSizeMake(25, 25); CGContextDrawImage(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), imageRect, image); } } CGImageRelease(img.CGImage); So, it works, so, I put it into a command object's execute method. Then, I want to do similar thing, but this time, my execute method only do this: NSString *imagePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"dummy2.png" ofType:nil]; UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:imagePath]; image = CGImageRetain(img.CGImage); CGRect imageRect; double x = inComingX; double y = inComingY; imageRect.origin = CGPointMake(x, y); imageRect.size = CGSizeMake(25, 25); CGContextDrawImage(UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(), imageRect, image); CGImageRelease(img.CGImage); This time, this is also a Command, and it is the execute method. But I take the for loop away. I will have another method that pass the inComingX , and inComingY into my Command object. My Drawing method is simply execute the Cmd that passed in my drawingEngine: -(void)drawInContext:(CGContextRef)context { [self.cmdToBeExecuted execute]; } I also have the assign method to assign the command,: -(void)assignCmd:(Command* )cmd{ self.cmdToBeExecuted = cmd; } And this is the way I called the drawingEngine for(int k=0; k<5; k++){ [self.drawingEngine assignCmd:[DrawingCmd setDrawingInformation:(10*k):0:@"dummy.png"]]; [self.drawingEngine setNeedsDisplay]; } It can draw, but the sad thing is it only draw the last one. Why? and how to fix it? I can draw all the things in my First code, but after I take the loop outside, and use the loop in last code, it just only draw the last one. Plz help

  • Can't Get ANT build to work in eclipse

    - by Travis
    Long story short: I want to add the --core-library flag at compile time to include a library that depends on some javax libraries that aren't included in the android platform. I have attempted the walkthrough here: http://commons.apache.org/scxml/usecases/scxml-stopwatch-on-android.html but nothing ever changed on the emulator. I don't think I can repackage the libraries I'm after because I cannot amend the callers to call the new packages without violating a license agreement. Please, someone, point me in the right direction.

  • editButtonItem set but no minus buttons?

    - by QAD
    My edit button is placed in viewDidLoad: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; It shows up correctly on the nav bar, and tapping this button indeed change it to Done. However, no minus buttons show up in my table rows. Swiping a row, then tap Delete works, though. Any ideas? EDIT 1: Here's how I'm doing: - (void)loadView { tableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; tableView.delegate = self; tableView.dataSource = self; tableView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight; self.view = tableView; } EDIT 2: My observation is that the edit and minus buttons display fine if my tableview is created in IB (RootViewController). The other two (or three) tableview are created by the aforemention code, so that might be the problem. Guess I'd have to dive in to isEditing, editing and whatnot.

  • Adding image to navigation bar

    - by 4thSpace
    I'd like an image to take up all of a navigation bar. This is the navigation that comes with a navigation based app. It appears on the RootViewController with the accompanying UITableView. I've seen some examples of how this might work. Set navigation bar title: UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"TableviewCellLightBlue.png"]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; [self.navigationController.navigationBar.topItem setTitleView:imageView]; The problem there is it only covers the title rather than the entire navigation bar. There is also this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9254241#9254241. Towards the end, the solution looks to use a tab bar, which I'm not using. It is that complicated to set a navigation bar background? Is there some other simpler technique? I'd like to have a background for the navigation and still be able to use title text.

  • AVAudioPlayer lag when calling play

    - by joec
    I have set up an AVAudioPlayer object in viewDidLoad, as per the Apple guidelines, calling prepareToPlay as the last line in viewDidLoad (i have tried in awakeFromNib also). When i press my play button, there is a pause, as it would appear to load the file, then it plays. In audioPlayerDidFinishPlaying, i reload the player with a different sound, and when clicking play for a second time, the file plays instantly. What would cause the player to lag on the first play? Thanks.
