  • With CentOS 6 and LXC, "ifconfig" is unable to see network interface (but busybox "ifconfig" works fine)

    I've just started working with LXC under CentOS 6 (via the libvirt adapter). If I create an LXC container, I'm unable to see any network interfaces when using the native system tools: # ifconfig -a # The behavior is very odd; specifying an interface by names yields neither the expected output nor an error message. This is true even for clearly invalid interface names, like this: # ifconfig foo # The ip command exhibits the same behavior. The libvirt config for this environment is pretty standard; the network definition looks like this: <interface type='network'> <mac address='52:54:00:e0:12:c8'/> <source network='default'/> <target dev='veth0'/> </interface> The full configuration is here if you think it might help. I'm running: lxc-0.7.2-2.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64 EDIT Weirder and weirder...it's a display issue, not a functionality issue. I can see the output of ifconfig if I pipe it into anything, so for example: # ifconfig eth0 | cat eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:E0:12:C8 inet addr:192.168.10.10 Bcast:192.168.10.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::5054:ff:fee0:12c8/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:573 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:37914 (37.0 KiB) TX bytes:552 (552.0 b) And in fact even when not piping the output, strace shows that ifconfig is in fact writing the output to file descriptor 1 (aka stdout), so it's not clear why no output is actually showing up. This could be either an LXC or a virsh issue, I guess.

    Is there a way to restart a browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) automatically upon receiving an error such as a DNS error or Page not found? Background: It is for a web based signage application that has intermittent network drop outs, therefore if there's no internet, and the sign tries to go to the next page, an error occurs on browser, and we get one big ugly sign. We need a way to either restart the browser, or customise displayed error messages to use javascript to try redirection to the live sign again.

    Is there any software like iPhoneBrowser that will let me backup all my text messages from my UIQ3 - Sony Ericsson M600i? I have already tried float mobile agent & my phone explorer. I only have Bluetooth to connect so float mobile agent fails to detect my driver as it's not a native windows driver. My phone explorer fails to access all of my 3000+ saved messages.

    Hi, I run an Ubuntu server virtualbox under a Windows host for web development. At the moment I do all editing in Vim running inside PuTTY. It runs pretty well, but lacks some useful features like native copypasting from the host. I know about the remote mode of Vim, but afaik it can only operate on the same machine. Question is, is it possible to make gVim on the windows host proxy all the commands (and the editing) to a Vim instance running on the Linux guest?

  • How do I get windows 7 to go full screen in boot camp?

    I'm running Windows 7 on an iMac using Bootcamp. At the native resolution of 1290x1200, the desktop fills the entire screen, but when I run games at a lower resolution or reduce the suze of the desktop the visible area is reduced and a large black border surrounds the display. I want to run 1024x768 full screen, not letterboxed. Is there a way to do this? I suspect a problem with the drivers.

  • Phpmyadmin mysql foreign key problem

    Hey guys i'm using phpmyadmin (php & mysql) and i'm having alot of trouble linking the tables using foreign keys. I'm getting negative values for the field countyId (which is the foriegn key). However it is linking to my other table fine and it's cascading fine. So when I go to add data there will be a drop box for the CountyId and the values will look something like this, " -1 1- " Here is my alter statement, ALTER TABLE Baronies ADD FOREIGN KEY (CountyId) REFERENCES Counties (CountyId) ON DELETE CASCADE

I have a bunch of servers to roll out that will have the following features/roles dfsr dhcp iis application server dc <- haven't tested this yet but see no reason why it won't work. any opinions/ideas on this?

  • Right Clicking error in windows 7 windows explorer

    Whenever I right-click something in windows explorer other than favorites, libraries, computer, or network (the main headings in the left pane), the drop-down menu does not appear and an error pops up "windows explorer has stopped working" - "windows explorer is restarting". Once those both close the icons on the desktop and taskbar itself blink off and back on again. Is there any way of finding out what is going on when I right click and this problem ensues?

    I am working in PhotoImpact X3, whose native file format is .UFO. I want to bring an SVG file into it, but it doesn't recognize SVG format. All online converters I find (trying to convert it to .PSD, which PhotoImpact X3 recognizes) convert the SVG to a raster format, first, and I don't want that. Does anyone know a way to import an SVG file into PhotoImpact X3? Preferably as a .UFO or .PSD file, but any scaleable vector file format will work.

  • Blocking ICMP outgoing requests only in eth1

    I am creating a NAT with iptables: Computer A: eth0 (dhcp) + eth1 (static ip 192.168.0.1 - gateway) Computer B: eth1 (static ip 192.168.0.2, using Computer A as gateway) I know how to block ICMP outgoing requests (-A OUTPUT -p icmp --icmp-type echo-request -j DROP), but that would block ICMP requests from Computer A, but not from Computer B (in fact, only for Computer A - Computer B can keep doing those). I tried with the same command, but adding -o eth1, but that does not block at all. Any idea?

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Find and Replace ALT-F not working

    I'm using a demo of Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 and I've notice that they no longer open the Find and Replace in a separate window. The problem with this, at least on Windows 7, is that I can't use the normal hotkey shortcuts like ALT-F because its being intercepted by the main Window and brings up the file menu drop down. Is there a fix for this?

    I have a Cisco 891 that is going to be connected to 2 WAN links, a DSL connection and a cable connection. I'm not so concerned with load balancing between them because the DSL connection speed is a drop in the bucket when compared to the cable speed though it would be nice if it worked that way. I mainly just want to force all traffic through the cable WAN link unless it goes down. I'm not really sure what feature set I should be researching.

    Currently I am using standard Dvorak on Ubuntu 13.10 and Gnome 3.10. Unfortunately, writing Umlauts (ä,ö,ü) in German requires me to switch to QWERTY/QWERTZ frequently or forces me to not write those umlauts (which looks strange to German native speakers). Is there a way to use Dvorak Type 2, including the umlauts, but otherwise using the standard English layout on Ubuntu with Gnome? I'm a fast typer on standard English Dvorak and would like to avoid fully switching to German Dvorak as this would (at least temporarily) reduce my typing speed.

    This used to work perfectly up until about a month or two ago. When doing a screen capture onto the clipboard (cmd + ctr + shift + 4) and pasting it into a new document in Photoshop (only in photoshop, pasting it elsewhere like mail works fine), the drop shadow around the application doesn't look right.     I'm looking for a way to disable the smart card PIN change ability provided with Windows 7's native minidriver. It doesn't allow us to enforce any PIN complexity requirements such that users could change their PIN to 000000 or blank without any issues so we'd like to disable that ability. I've been googling around and haven't found any way to do this, but perhaps someone has encountered a similar issue and found a resolution? A third party minidriver is the next step, but if we could do it without additional tools I'm all for it.

    I'm looking into getting the Seagate Momentus XT hybrid hard drive, and I'm planning on dual booting between Windows 7 and Windows XP. I know 7 and Vista have native support for taking advantage of the SSD portion of a hybrid drive, and I assume XP does not have any such support, but will XP still work on the drive? I would think it will, but I wanted to be sure, and the Googles are coming up empty for me on this one. Thanks!

    I'd like to use the native 1920x1200 laptop monitor that comes with the Alienware m17x along with 2 additional external monitors, one through the displayport and another through the hdmi port. Is there any way to do this? And if so how? I've tried to update the nvidia drivers, I've installed ultramon, etc., but I can't seem to make it happen. I've seen posts that suggest it's possible, but I can't seem to figure out how.

  • How to recover a MySQL InnoDB table?

    When I try to launch the Plesk administration page of you server I get the following error: ERROR: PleskMainDBException MySQL query failed: MySQL server has gone away The MySQL Server is working well. Although it seems that the plesk database is somehow corrupt and any action on this database results in a restart of the mysql process, so even queries to other databases on the same MySQL server will be lost. If I try to connect to the plesk database using phpMyAdmin, I can only see the number of tables, the database had originally. But I am not able to open the tables listing. As soon as I try it, the mysql process crashes again. Trying to connect to the database using ssh works. I can even run a SELECT statement against any table an get a result. I don't know if it is an plesk error or an error of the psa database or even the MySQL server. Can you give me any tips on how to recover the plesk system. Should I try to repair the Plesk installation before. And if so, how can I do it and will all my settings get lost doing it? EDIT: Trying to dump the database, I get the following error: mysqldump: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when using LOCK TABLES EDIT: I could find out, that the table 'data_bases' is responsible for the crash of the MySQL server process. But trying to repair it using a REPAIR TABLE statement doesn't work. EDIT: I now dropped the whole database and restored it from a dump. But why I try to recover the data_bases table I get the following error: ERROR 1005 (HY000) at line 24: Can't create table './psa/data_bases.frm' (errno: 121) I am not able to create the table again. Somewhere in the MySQL system there is still some information about this table. I tested the same thing locally. If I just delete the table files and then try to create the table again I get the same error. If I drop the table through MySQL, I can create the table again afterwards. But trying to drop the table using MySQL the whole MySQL system crashed. Is there any way to solve that issue?

  • multilog compatibility wrapper for svlogd?

    Has anyone written a compatibility wrapper for svlogd to function as a drop-in replacement for multilog? I'm a fan of UNIX process supervision in the style of daemontools and lately of runit. While runit offers a compatibility mode for many of the daemontools utilities, there is AFAIK no such offering for svlogd. I've got a few systems I'd like to switch over to runit, but I'd rather not modify the .../log/run scripts of every supervised process on those machines. Thanks.
