  Hi All, In Second Life, I have an avatar and a primitive object that are moving with changing velocity. I use the LIBOMV library to create a text client to Second Life. Using this LIBOMV text client, I am trying to record the update packets of that avatar and object that are being sent to my text client by the server. I get frequent update packets for the avatar as its velocity changes, but I do not get update packets for the object that frequently, although it has a changing velocity. I would like to know whether there is any special setting I should use in order to solve this problem. /Su

I am trying to find out empty area (all white, or of any colour) inside a pdf document, to write some graphics / image.   Hello all, I have this extension method for cloning my LINQ To SQL objects: public static T CloneObjectGraph<T>(this T obj) where T : class { var serializer = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(T), null, int.MaxValue, false, true, null); using (var ms = new System.IO.MemoryStream()) { serializer.WriteObject(ms, obj); ms.Position = 0; return (T)serializer.ReadObject(ms); } } But while i carry objects with not all references loaded, while qyuerying with DataLoadOptions, sometimes it throws the object disposed exception, but thing is I don't ask for references that is not loaded (null). e.g. I have Customer with many references and i just need to carry on memory the Address reference EntityRef< and i don't Load anything else. But while i clone the object this exception forces me to load all the EntitySet< references with the Customer object, which might be too much and slow down the application speed. Any suggestions?

  I am in need of a software that is PHP-Based, or similar that can be installed on my server that doesn't offer SVN Perks. It should be somewhat similar to an SVN, however, since the server doesn't support SVN, we'll need another means of doing sort of the same thing. We have a team of Developers and need to accomplish progress in the same way that an SVN does, but without that type of server support. Is there any software that could be installed via webhosting that would be somewhat, if not exactly, similar to an SVN? Please help, Thanks :) P.S. - This is related to development AFAIK, but not exactly code-related.

  I have an edit form, The form is made through symfony2 Form types. I checked the documentation but couldn't find any option for adding CSS to the form. The form display the data correctly and everything is fine what I want to do is to add styling to each field.   Hi everybody. I used JAXB to create some classes from an XSD. The result was not quite what I expected and most probably it can be customized. It created a generic list instead of 3 different lists.   Here I have the following bit of code: private IList<IState> _states = new List<IState>(); private ReadOnlyCollection<IState> _statesViewer; public IList<IState> States { get { return _statesViewer; } } Generally it is preferable to return interfaces than the concrete classes themselves, but in this case, shouldn't I set as the return type of the States property a ReadOnlyCollection? Any user of my library will think it is possible to anything you can do with an IList if I set it as so, and that means adding elements. That is not true and I'm definitely breaking the contract exposing it as an IList. Am I right with this view or there is something else I am missing here?

• link with static library vs individual object files

  For a reason i want to unpack a static lib (libx.a) into individual object files (a.o b.o c.o), and specify these object files (a.o b.o c.o) in the linker input list instead of libx.a, with other linker options remaining the same. However, i have noticed the above change has resulted in quite some difference in the output executable. Basically, (a.o b.o c.o) method will result in larger output size. So what's the difference between the two methods (libx.a and individual object files)? And is there a way to work around? The GNU binutil (for and ar ld) version i'm using is 2.16.1 Thanks.

I'm trying to create a query that returns records between a specific date range (all records from March 2010) however I encounter a 'data type mismatch in critera expression' message.   I'm referencing the NHibernate dll version 2.1.2-GA, and am unable to compile under Mono 2.8.1. I've tried using NHibernate 3 instead and it compiles fine. A simple example of the code that's failing is NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration cfg = new NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration(); and the error is Error CS0584: Internal compiler error: Could not load type 'NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration' from assembly 'NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4'. (CS0584) As mentioned it compiles with no problems using NHibernate 3, does anyone have any ideas how to get it working with NHiberate 2.1.2?

• navigation framework in silverlight 3 skipping constructor when usercontrol is of a derived type

  Hi: I am using the NavigationFramework in Silverlight 3, and am running into issues where the constructor of the UserControl in the xaml I am loading is not being called, and I believe this is because the UserControl in the xaml I am calling is actually derived from another user control. I have stepped through the debugger with specific break points and the constructor is being ignored completey. I have MyWindowBlue which is of type uctrlBaseMyWindow. The constructor for uctrlBaseMyWindow is being called when the xaml is 'navigated to' but the constructor for MyWindowBlue is being ignored. This is not the case if I add the user control via markup directly. Anyone else have this issue? The code I am using to navigate to the MyWindowBlue is this.MyContentFrame.Navigate(new Uri("/Controls/uctrlMyWindowBlue.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); Has anyone run into this or could offer any help?   Hello, this jquery question: when I set a specific height to a "#div", i want to set the width of a inner object automatically too (cause i need a width to read it out) [ "#div" ["object"] ] example: (object).css(width: [ CALCULATION ], height: ($("#div").height())+'px' ) the original proportion of the image is: 1600x1080 here's the link to the attachment, take a look at it (tinypic): link text the heights "500px", "600px" and "700px" you can see in the attachment are just examples, the heigth could also be "711px", "623px", "998px" etc. cause the "#div" scales with the browser (i can read out the height of window, that works) my math skills aren't really good, would be great if someone could help me out :-)

  Doing something like this is perfectly permissible in javascript: var newWindow = window.open(...) However, this does not work in the senario of GWT (I am using 1.5 I dont know about later versions), Window window = Window.open("", "", ""); Throws me a compile time error that the open is a method with a return type as void. Why should it be void ? What if i want to close my popup from the main Window ? how do I get its handle ? I will have to resort to native javascript no doubt but i was just curious so as to why this is so...

  I'm using a bytea type in PostgreSQL, which, to my understanding, contains just a series of bytes. However, I can't get it to play well with nulls. For example: =# select length(E'aa\x00aa'::bytea); length -------- 2 (1 row) I was expecting 5. Also: =# select md5(E'aa\x00aa'::bytea); md5 ---------------------------------- 4124bc0a9335c27f086f24ba207a4912 (1 row) That's the MD5 of "aa", not "aa\x00aa". Clearly, I'm Doing It Wrong, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm also on an older version of Postgres (8.1.11) for reasons outside of my control. (I'll see if this behaves the same on the latest Postgres as soon as I get home...)

  On the iPhone, I would like to do some operations on an image in a separate thread. Rather than dealing with semiphores, locking, etc., I'd like to use the 'One Object, One Thread' method of safely writing this concurrent operation. I'm not sure what is the correct way to copy my object into a new thread so that the object is not accessed in the main thread. Do I use the 'copy' method?   I understand that in order to sum array elements in Ruby one can use the inject method, i.e. array = [1,2,3,4,5]; puts array.inject(0, &:+) But how do I sum the properties of objects within an object array e.g. There's an array of objects and each object has a property "cash" for example. So I want to sum their cash balances into one total. Something like... array.cash.inject(0, &:+) (but this doesn't work) I realise I could probably make a new array composed only of the property cash and sum this, but I'm looking for a cleaner method if possible!

  Hi, I'm looking for suggestions on how to track the number of tags associated with a particular object in Rails. I'm using acts_as_taggable_on and it's working fine. What I would like to be able to do is search for all objects that have no tags, preferably through a scope i.e. Object.untagged.all My first thought was to use an after_save callback to update an attribute called "taggings_count" in my model: def update_taggings_count self.taggings_count = self.tag_list.size self.save end Unfortunately, this does the obvious thing of putting me in an infinite loop. I need to use an after_save callback because the tag_list is not updated until the main object is saved. Would appreciate any suggestions as I'm on the verge of rolling my own tagging system. • mysqli and field types

  Hi, I'd like to know if there is a simple way to fetch data from mysql tables with "correct" data types? What i mean, if field type is for example INT or SMALLINT is it possible to pass those types directly to PHP as integers? I did some searching and found mysqli_fetch_fields, but for SMALLIT type is 2, for INT 3 and so on. It could be done that way, but it looks rather clumsy workaround. Is there any better way? I'm using PHP and mysqli. Thank you.

  Hello, i tryed to follow that great tutorial (STAR rating with css : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1987524/turn-a-number-into-star-rating-display-using-jquery-and-css) but i've just a big problem : When i do <span class="stars">1.75</span> or $foo='1.75'; echo '<span class="stars">'.$foo.'</span> the stars is correctly shown, but as soon as i do : while($val = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $average = ($val['services'] + $val['serviceCli'] + $val['interface'] + $val['qualite'] + $val['rapport'] ) / 5 ; <span class="stars">.$average.</span> } the stars stops working i double checked the data type in mysql : they're all TINYINT(2) and i tryed that : $average = intval($average); but it's still not working, Thank you
