• WPF binding Ancestor

  Hi Experts, I have problems with bindings. I want to use a UserControl (Intellibox from codeplex) but I only get error messages in the output window. Basically I have window grid ... stuff ... usercontrol (self written) ... stuff ... usercontrol (IntelliBox) In the Output window I get following stuff: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Controls.UserControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=ShowResults; DataItem=null; target element is 'Popup' (Name='IntelliboxPopup1'); target property is 'IsOpen' (type 'Boolean') The binding in the IntelliBox control is defined as follows: {Binding Path=ShowResults, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type UserControl}}} I guess there is a problem, cause the nesting withing usercontrols - how to I get this error fixed? • jqgrid and popup modal windows from link

  Hi, I have got a jqgrid, and i would like to put a link in it to open up more details on the row in a modal window. Everything i have read about modal windows uses a div that gets shown when you click the link, but i want to pass an id so i can just get the info i need. I know i could do it with a new window quite easly but i would like to use a modal window if poss. Any ideas how i could do this. I'm using asp.net if thats going to be relevent. Cheers Luke

  I'm trying to use Tim Heuer's FloatableWindow control for a non-modal options window in my Silverlight application. However, I'm running into a problem with the FloatableWindow resizing it's parent grid when it opens. For example, before I open the window the application looks like this: But after opening the window, the first row of the grid expands: I'm currently setting FloatableWindow.ParentLayoutRoot to the LayoutRoot grid in MainPage.xaml. Is this the right thing to do? How can I prevent the grid from resizing when the FloatableWindow opens?

• Custom NSStatusItem with custom view - Use NSWindow, NSView, custom NSMenuItem?

  I'm trying to create a LSUIElement app that behaves like Spotlight, CoverSutra and other apps of that type. I managed to create a custom NSStatusItem, which popups up an NSWindow but the problem is that the app that currently has focus will the focus to my custom NSWindow. I've based myself on Matt Gemmell's example (http://mattgemmell.com/2008/03/04/using-maattachedwindow-with-an-nsstatusitem) For example, if you're in Safari and click on the Spotlight icon, the current Safari window does not gray out and keeps focused. When you press ESC in Spotlight, the focus is back to the Safari window. I haven't managed to do this with my custom NSWindow. I have to click back on a window to set focus back to it. So I'd like to know which route to go to achieve this. Is the solution a NSWindow, NSPanel, NSMenu with a custom NSMenuItem?

  I have a WPF application which runs as a excel plugin, it has its visual tree like so Excel ElementHost WPF UserControl WPF ribbon bar control Now any controls sitting on the WPF ribbon bar control are not enabled when the plugin is loaded within excel. See error below System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Window', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=IsActive; DataItem=null; target element is 'Ribbon' (Name=''); target property is 'NoTarget' (type 'Object') If I nest the ribbon bar control in a standalone Window(outside excel) it works fine. Is there a way to intercept the FindAncestor call for a Window and wire it to something else.? Note that I cannot change the above binding as it isn't my control.

  I am popping up an HTML page from a Silverlight application using the HtmlPage.PopupWindow() method. I am trying to handle the event of when the popup window is closed from within Silverlight. This is how I am attempting to do this: var window = HtmlPage.PopupWindow(new Uri("http://mypopup..."), "popup", options); EventHandler<HtmlEventArgs> windowClosed = (sender, e) => { // would like to refresh the page when popup is closed... HtmlPage.Document.Submit(); }; window.AttachEvent("onUnload", windowClosed); However the event handler never seems to get called. Is this something that is possible or am I missing something? The Silverlight app and the HTML popup page are on the same domain, however they are actually on different ports. I was thinking that maybe the pages being on different ports would be considered a cross-site restriction and cause the JavaScript to fail.

  I'm wondering if it's possible to access page JavaScript variables with Selenium. I have an application that's using a variable attached to the window object. It has a global scope and I can access it either with window._myvar, window['_myvar'], _myvar, this['_myvar'], this._myvar depending on the context. So I tried to get Selenium to echo it. As far as I understand, in Selenium IDE the context in which everything runs is selenium. I tried doing this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()._myvar, this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()[_myvar] to no avail. I get bumped with the following error Unexpected Exception: message -> eval(match[1]) is undefined. Anyone managed to access their page's JavaScript?

• How to recall search pattern when writing replace regex pattern in Vim?

  Here's the scenario: I've got a big file filled with all sorts of eclectic rubbish that I want to regex. I fiddle around and come up with a perfect search pattern by using the / command and seeing what it highlights. Now I want to use that pattern to replace with. So, I start typing :%s/ and I cannot recall what the pattern was. Is there some magical keyboard command that will pull in my last search pattern here? If I'm writing a particularly complex regex, I have even opened up a new MacVim window, typed the regex from the first window into a buffer there, then typed it back into the Vim window when writing the replace pattern. There has got to be a better way of doing so.

  Hi! I have an application in WPF C# where other than the purpose of what it's done, I customized the close and minimize buttons. The problem is that when I minimize, all is good, I cycle around all other apps, but, when I want to go back to the application, I click in the window in the taskbar, and the window pops up... But when it pops up, the window pursues the mouse pointer throughout the screen...   I would like to refer to a MergedDictionary together with locally declared resources in my Windows.Resources. However, I'm getting this error: "All objects added to an IDictionary must have a Key attribute or some other type of key associated with them." Is it possible to mix local resources together with imported resources in the same Window.Resources? • Interface Builder: Resize View From NIB

  I have a custom UIViewController and a corresponding view in a nib file. The view is added to the UIWindow directly. [window addSubview:customViewController.view]; Sizes of the window and the view are default (480x320 and 460x320 correspondingly). When I create CustomViewController inside the nib file and check "Resize View From NIB" in IB Attributes tab everything works just fine. But when I create CustomViewController programmmatically with initWithNibName message the view is not positioned on the window correctly. There is an empty stripe at the bottom. Its height is 20px. I see it's because of status bar offset. IB handles that with "Resize View From NIB". How to emulate that programmatically? It seems that IB uses some custom subclass of UIViewController. So the question: how is "Resize View From NIB" implemented there?

• Javascript onbeforeunload Issue

  Alright, I have an issue with the following code. What happens is when a user closes their browser, it should prompt them to either click OK or click CANCEL to leave the page. Clicking OK would trigger a window.location to redirect to another page for user tracking (and yes, to avoid flame wars, there is a secondary system in place to assure accurate tracking, in the event of the user killing the browser from the task manager (as mentioned in similar questions)). CANCEL would remain on the page, the issue being that no matter what button you hit, you get redirected as if you wanted to leave the page. What i want to do is override the automate navigation process of it and process the hashchange on my own. • input type text and onKeyDown not working under IE

  Hi there. I am writing a WWW application, it has to run under IE. I have the problem with the code that runs under FF, but i can't get it running under IE. // JS code function test() { if (window.event.keyCpde == 13) window.location.href.ssign("myPage.php"); } I've tried some similar ways around window.location and location.href, also document.location. I've read that IE has problems with that, so i ask for a solution. The goal is, that page reloads after typing in some text into <input type='text' name='item_code' onKeyDown='test()'> and click enter. So the result is similar to pressing submit type button below the text input. Within IE it reloads the same page and nothing happens. In FF it correctly works.

  WPF's Window.ShowDialog method returns a nullable boolean. So does CommonDialog.ShowDialog. Now, I understand cases where these would return false (user clicked Cancel or pressed Esc), and when they would return true (code sets Window.DialogResult to true, probably in response to OK being clicked). But null? My first thought is that clicking the title bar's Close button might return null. But the docs state (and I confirmed by testing) that the title-bar Close button is treated as a Cancel. So when would Window.ShowDialog or CommonDialog.ShowDialog ever return null?

HERE, though, when I do [loginController release], every IBAction on that loginController gets called against a deallocated instance. Commenting out that line makes everything work. I note the difference in approach between my loginController and the navigationController that came with the template; the navigationController is a synthesized property that gets released in -(void)dealloc{ }, so it's still around after being put into window.

But make don't understand: make: *** No rule to make target `abstract-window.c', needed by `gtkbuilder2vala-abstract-window.o'. Stop. This seems to be a limitation of make: http://www.ensta.fr/~diam/dev/online/autoconf/autobook/autobook_180.html if the translation takes three steps--from .m' to.x', then from .x' to.c', and finally to `.o'---then Automake's simplistic approach will break. Have you another idea?

• javascript scroll event for iPhone/iPad ?

  I can't seem to capture the scroll event on an iPad. None of these work, what I am doing wrong? window.onscroll=myFunction; document.onscroll=myFunction; window.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); document.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); They all work even on Safari 3 on Windows. Ironically, EVERY browser on the PC supports window.onload= if you don't mind clobbering existing events. But no go on iPad.
