  • NAS device claims drive in a RAID is degraded but S.M.A.R.T. says it is fine

    - by Nathan Villaescusa
I have a Synology DS213 with two 600GB drives in RAID 1. Last night the device reported that my second drive had become degraded and that I should replace it. When I ran a extensive S.M.A.R.T. test the results said that the drive is okay. How can I confirm that the drive is actually bad? Is there any case that the degraded drive is the good one and that it is actually the other drive that is bad?

  • Getting the error "SMTP server cannot create a file in the queue directory C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Queue\"

    - by Glenn Slaven
We're using the default SMTP server for our websites to send mail with, but in the last day sending messages started getting this error: Insufficient system storage. The server response was: 4.3.1 Out of memory Further digging found this message in the System event log: SMTP server cannot create a file in the queue directory C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Queue\ I've since given the Everyone account full control of the mailroot folder but it's still happening. There's enough space on the server and to the best of my knowledge nothing on the server has been changed

    - by Piotr Dobrogost
    I'm using Multi-Tabbed PuTTY and I wrote AutoHotKey script to rerun the command which was run as the last one. However the active PuTTY window (inside MTPuTTY) does not get activated thus sending keys has no effect. CTRL+` is a hotkey to Switch between the application and active PuTTY window. How to fix this? WinWait, MTPuTTY (Multi-Tabbed PuTTY), IfWinNotActive, MTPuTTY (Multi-Tabbed PuTTY), , WinActivate, MTPuTTY (Multi-Tabbed PuTTY), WinWaitActive, MTPuTTY (Multi-Tabbed PuTTY), Send, {CTRLDOWN}`{CTRLUP} Send, {UP}{ENTER}

  • Cannot reinstall Windows on Toughbook CF-19, OEM or upgrade issue?

    - by j03lar50n
My Toughbook (CF-19) has a 'Windows Vista Business OEMAct, Panasonic' COA on the bottom of the unit. When I extracted the key before reformatting - it was a 'Windows XP Professional' Product Name and the Product ID code has 'OEM' in it...and I can confirm this upgrade was last OS installed (w/ Service Pack 3) - but there was the tablet functionality. This extracted product key isn't working with any version of Windows I try installing. XP Pro, XP Pro Tablet 2005 OEM, Tablet XP OEM. Any insights?

For the last couple of years I have used the Zune theme for Windows XP. Once the background picture is removed it is a very classy look for XP. Is there a place on the web where I can find other Windows themes are available to download and try? Do you have any recommendations for individual themes to use?

  • gvim Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off issues with file explorer.

    - by nos
In gvim using netrw(the file explorer), I usually middle click a file to open it in the last active window. This just leads to an error stating "Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off". Another middle click, and the file opens fine where I expect it to. All buffers are saved, there's no uncommuted changes anywhere. What causes this, and what can I do about it ? Here's a pic when I middle click a file:

  • Download all Stack Overflow podcasts onto my iPhone

    - by Casebash
I want to copy all of the Stack Overflow podcasts onto my iPhone. Unfortunately, iTunes will only let me get the last 10. Nik suggested a method of importing MP3s into iTunes, but it appears that this would make them appear in the music section rather than the podcast section. Is there any way to easily do this?

  • How to resize Yahoo Messenger window?

    - by Ian Boyd
Yahoo messenger is huge: And that's as short as you can make it, it won't shrink vertically anymore. How can i make it a more reasonable size, e.g.: In fact, if we're making it look better, how about Yahoo stops pissing on their users and makes it: Okay, yes, the last one was me complaining. But the first two are a valid question! Note: The cut-off title bar is because Yahoo! developers don't pay their taxes, and assume that everyone runs at 96dpi.

  • Log requests in apache upon arrival

    - by Patrick Cornelissen
Is it possible to log requests in the apache when they arrive not when they have been processed? We have a pretty big web based application and the way it's currently logged is sometimes confusing to read, because each request with it's subrequests is logged "upside down", because apache logs the request after it has been processed, so the initial request is the last entry for this "query". We're wondering if there is a chance to log on arrival?!
