  I recently bought the above moniter. i am now using the DVI port in the moniter but the picture quality stil seems average like the same when i was using the VGA port. THere hasnt been a noticeable change. I am using the DVI output from my graphics card but i thought the picture quality should be alot more High Def than what it is. im just really disappointed in the out come as was expecting nearly High Def quality from my new moniter but just seems a bit normal. Could i need to change any settings?

• Sharing internet connection from Windows XP using wi-fi router

  Hi, I have an network configuration like: Ethernet cable from ISP connected to Windows XP machine, configured with static IP 192.168.0.3 Another ethernet connection from 2nd Windows XP machine's network adapter to a Wi-Fi router (D-Link Airport G+) XP set to "Share internet connection", the 2nd adapter configured as static to 192.169.0.1 D-Link Airport Wi-Fi router also configured as "static connection", it's IP set to 192.169.0.2, default gateway set to 192.169.0.1. Network mask everywhere is 24. Laptop computer connected with the router with static IP 192.169.0.3 The problems are: XP machine sees the router (it's able to ping it and access it via the web admin tool) The router somehow cannot PING the XP machine (using the tool provided by the web-based admin tool) The laptop computer cannot ping anything and cannot be pinged The router is only accessible when the ethernet cable is connected with a router's 1-4 LAN port, when I connect it via "WAN" port (which I believe is the proper one) it's not visible from the XP machine If you have similar experience with configuring a network like this I would really appreciate your help. I cannot use the Wi-Fi router with the ISP cable itself.

• Parse java console output with awk

  Hi, I'm trying to use awk to parse an output generated by a java application, but it isn't working. It seems that the command after the pipe isn't able to get/see the data throwed by the java app. I'm executing the following command (with the return generated by the command): [root@localhost]# java -jar jmxclient.jar usr:pass host:port java.lang:type=Threading ThreadCount 06/11/2010 15:46:37 -0300 org.archive.jmx.Client ThreadCount: 103 What I need it's only the last part of the string. So I'm tryng to use awk (with pipe at the end of the line |awk -F ':' '{print $4}': [root@localhost]# java -jar jmxclient.jar usr:pass host:port java.lang:type=Threading ThreadCount|awk -F ':' '{print $4}' But the output isn't being parsed. It throws the entire string: 06/11/2010 15:46:37 -0300 org.archive.jmx.Client ThreadCount: 103 I also tryed to use |cut -f4 -d":" with the same result: the string isn't parsed. So my question is, how do I parse the output in order to get just the number at the end of the string? TIA, Bob

  I have a tricky variation on an old problem. I have an apache based site that should generally be accessed via http/port 80. However for certain areas protected areas that require authentication (designated by .htaccess), I want to be able to redirect the user the https/port 443. The key here is that I want this to always happen - i.e. I don't want to have to rewrite each htaccess file with a redirect. I only want to enforce this for basic authentication and the protected areas are scattered all over the site. Is it possible to somehow redirect all basic authentication requests to the SSL host?

  On a lenovo ThinkServer RD240 running firmware 1.20 with the latest BNC software, using the remote console to redirect a CD-ROM fails with the error: "CD-ROM redirection is not supported on this platform". Similar error for forwarding an iso image, foppy and USB drive. I tried executing the management console from Ubuntu, Windows 7 and OS X with the exact same error. The question is: What platform does the jViewer console support any kind of media redirection?

• Host not visible in ECC after pushing master agent on server

  Hi all!! ECC master Agent has been pushed to one of the servers.. Once a Master Agent installed the host should appear within ECC.However, I am unable to see the host. I asked the Server team to stop and start the master agent ,and to check whether required port is enabled, so that server can talk with ECC server. After restarting the service I get an error.I even checked if the port is used by any other service ,it is not.. Somebody plz help what should done here..it’s a Windows server.   Anyone know of an external HDD that would have (in addition to USB) a SATA (eSATA) port/cable? i.e. Brand/Model. Preferably one of the name brands so I have a better change of finding it here or locally if possible. Background - In one location I want to use it is I would like to increase the performance by cabling it directly to the PC SATA port, HOWEVER I don't want to have to open up the PC to do this each time. I was thinking of running a SATA cable out through the PC case so I just plug it directly into the external HDD in question. Perhaps it should be also externally powered too so I don't need to run a power cable out from the PC power supply.

  I am looking for something like a USB adapter for video cards. It is a cable that on one end hooks into a USB port on a computer and on the other accepts any one of a variety of video cards. Essentially it's an "all-in-one" USB adapter for video cards. I'm told that they are sold all over... does anyone know what it is called or where to find them? I should clarify, by the way, that by "video card" I mean a memory card for a video camera, and that the goal is to read this video data onto a computer, from a variety of video card types, through a USB port. That way if you go to your friend's house and bring your computer, you can transfer the video data on his video camera to your computer, trusting that the adapter will have a slot for his kind of video card.

  I'm trying to find a way to setup a bi-directional L2L IPSec tunnel, but with differing group-policy filter ACLs for both sides. I have the following filter ACL setup, applied, and working on my tunnel-group: access-list ACME_FILTER extended permit tcp host 10.0.0.254 host 192.168.0.20 eq 22 access-list ACME_FILTER extended permit icmp host 10.0.0.254 host 192.168.0.20 According to the docs, VPN filters are bi-directional, you always specify the remote host first (10.0.0.254), followed by the local host and (optionally) port number, as per the documentation. However, I do not want the remote host to be able to access my local host's TCP port 22 (SSH) because there's no requirement to do so -- there's only a requirement for my host to access the remote host's SFTP server, not vice-versa. But since these filter ACLs are bidirectional, line 1 is also permitting the remote host to access my host's SSH Server. The documentation I'm reading doesn't seem to clear to me if this is possible; help/clarification much appreciated.

Here are my server config INBOUND (security group/firewall) : port:514 source:0.0.0.0/0 port:1514 source:0.0.0.0/0 But it seems to be not working. • multiple vlans routed on one nic? trunk?General? or Access?

  ok for the last week I've tried racking my head around this... I have a SRW208P with 802.1q support, and a virtual endian appliance. I would like to be able to have 3 vlans having everything routed through the endian appliance.. i.e. The Virtual server has 2 bridged NIC's to the switch. This is where I'm getting confused .. On the 8 port switch I've got the 3 vlans set up ok (all being untagged as they are not going to be vlan aware), it's the port I'm connecting the endian firewall to the switch I'm having trouble with (second nic goes to the adsl modem and NAT'd) Is it meant to be a trunk, "Genereal" or "Access" then untagged or tagged? the end goal is to have vlan traffic routing through the single NIC and have endian route vlan traffic according to the rules. Any one have any ideas on the cisco small business stuff? Thanks

All runs wonderful, except for the openvpn in XP, which can't connect to the vpn server running on a remote machine. The vpn client works from linux ... as far as I read until now it seems to be a problem of port forwarding ... I keep getting this error: TCP/UDP: Incoming packet rejected from 10.0.2.2:1194, expected peer address: (allow this incoming source address/port by removing --remote or adding --float) , but have no idea how to fix it.

• Routing from the DMZ to the interior network only

  I have a home network connected to Verizon's FIOS service. Verizon's ActionTec router is connected to the ONT via coax to establish the MOCA network. My DD-WRT router's WAN port is connected to one of the ActionTec's LAN ports. The DD-WRT router is configured with a static IP address and assigned to the DMZ (this is done so I only have to configure port forwarding once). My issue is that this does not allow computers connected to the DD-WRT to serve streaming audio/video to the MOCA network using Verizon's Media Manager. I know that Media Manager uses ports 18001, 5050, and 5060, but I don't know how to forward those ports so that they are only available to the ActionTec's network and not the rest of the internet.

  I am using pound as a way to decode SSL for the backend, but the bulk of the work is done on varnish (including virtualhost stuff). As a result, I need pound to just forward all other traffic to varnish verbatim, but it doesn't seem to do that. I am using the default configuration: ListenHTTP Address 1.2.3.4 Port 8080 ## allow PUT and DELETE also (by default only GET, POST and HEAD)?: xHTTP 0 Service BackEnd Address 127.0.0.1 Port 80 End End End So whenever I hit example.com:8080, it will always redirect to the default backend for varnish, which i assume was because the domain (host) header isn't send along. • IIS Reverse Proxy support for multiple protocols

  I have a server 2012 machine running IIS. It's in my DMZ and I would like to use it to do reverse proxy for several services. I can get it to route traffic on port 80 to 2 separate internal servers running web apps but there are some issues when I try to forward SSH (not port 80/443) and then when I try to forward OWA (Micrsoft exchange's 'webmail' services) to the internal mail server I run in to issues with guides (like this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/07/19/reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr-part-1.aspx) when they say to have all traffic forwarded to the server farm created for OWA. My question for you all is this - given that there is no more Threat Management Gateway (only runs on server 2008) and ISA 2006 is also dead - is it possible to support multiple types of reverse proxies with different protocols (ftp, ssh, web, ssl-web) in IIS, or would it be better to install a different DMZ OS like a nginx server and use linux firewalls + nginx reverse proxy?   We are seeing errors on some of our QA testing scripts that intermittently throw Connection Reset By Peer errors. The Test scripts submit requests via F5 which forwards requests to Apache (2.2.21) with a mod_jk load_balancer with the following setting for each worker in the worker.property worker1 props worker.worker1.type=ajp13 worker.worker1.port=8109 worker.worker1.lbfactor=1 worker.worker1.host=skunkhost1.com worker.worker1.connection_pool_timeout=30 and here is what is in the JBoss domain.xml for the AJP port from JBoss 7.1.1 <unbounded-queue-thread-pool name="SKUNKY.APP.AJP"> <max-threads count="300"/> <keepalive-time time="3" unit="minutes"/> </unbounded-queue-thread-pool> Here is httpd.conf Timeout 300 KeepAlive On KeepAliveTimeout 15 MaxKeepAliveRequests 100 TraceEnable Off My question is that is it posisbe that apache times out and closes the connection while jboss is still ready and working on the request?   I have setup squid as a transparent proxy by redirecting port 80 to the native squid port 3128. I know there are issues with getting secure ports like ssl and imaps to go though the proxy but can I redirect all other ports through the proxy as well. I am trying to get a better idea of bandwidth usage. I have setup iptables to log usage and i am getting most traffic going into the related/established rule. I am trying to determine the origins of this traffic by sending traffic to squid for more detailed logging.

• Load balancing without a load balancer?

  I have 4 nginx-powered image servers on their own subdomains which users would access at random. I decided to put them all behind a HAProxy load balancer to improve the reliability and to see the traffic statistics from a single location. It seemed like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the move was a complete failure as the load balancer's 100mbit port was completely saturated with all requests now going through it. I was wondering what to do about this - I could get a port upgrade ($$) or return to 4 separate image servers that are randomly accessed. I thought about putting HAProxy on each image server which would in turn route to another image server if that server's nginx service was having trouble. What would you do? I would like to not have to spend too much additional money.

  Recently i have thi problem whit my wireless mouse (Trust model on: www.trust.com/15313). Sometimes when i start the Pc or during a game the pointer/arrow stop to move it. In the Pc start the pointer is blocked on the center of the screen. If I'm lucky i have to chance the USB wirless adapter from port 1 to port 2 but sometimes this trick doesn't work i to use the mouse i have to restart. • Why do I have to manually 'Restart Management Network' on vSphere 5 host after reboot to get networking available?

  I've got a couple of vSphere 5.0 hosts in a small lab environment here and I've noticed a strange behaviour. When on of the hosts gets rebooted, it is unresponsive to the network until I log into the ESX console, Press F2 to customize and select Restart management network. Once this is done, the networking works perfectly as expected. Each host has two NICs which are trunked together using Etherchannel to a Cisco 3750. The link is also a .1q VLAN trunk and the management network is configured on VLAN121 with the VM traffic configured on VLAN118. Why would the host be completely dead to the world until I physically kick it? I have configured nginx such that it act as reverse proxy(i am not sure whether its working or not) using this tutorial http://tumblr.intranation.com/post/766288369/using-nginx-reverse-proxy. steps i followed to verify proxy. opened same page on two different machines within an interval of 5 seconds. but in the apache access.log every request is showing 200 response code.Does that indicate that caching is not working? and nginx access.log is showing nothing.

  I'm using Meinberg NTP to sync the time in a VPS. The clock refuses to sync - there's a ~30s shift comparing to other servers. Meinberg NTP comes with a status script that checks hte delay\jitter every 10s and it is showing all zeros. Actions I've taken which didn't help: Restarted the NTP service using a script that comes with Meinberg NTP Added port 123 for UDP and TCP as an exception port to Windows Firewall Added Meinberk NTP executables as an exception program to Windows Firewall validated iburst appears after each server listed in the configuration file Restarted the server The OS is a Windows Server Standard SP2 32bit. What did I miss?

• Solution for storing sata drives outside of case

  I have a system that has 8 sata disks in a software raid 5 array using mdadm. My issue is that I want to move the drives from inside of the computer case in order to cool more efficiently. I have looked all over the web and only seem to find enclosures that hide the drives connectors behind an estata port or some other internal raid controller. Basically what I want is an enclosure or equivalent that I can run independent sata cables to and either power as well, or have it have its own power supply. I have the sata ports on the motherboard available and don't want to limit io by using one port with a multiplier or the like. One final caveat, I am a college student on a budget and don't have a fortune to spend on such an enclosure. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
