  • Android XML-RPC Serialization Issue

    I am attempting to use Android XML-RPC and for some calls I get the following exception: W/System.err( 837): java.io.IOException: Cannot serialize java.lang.Object@43759748 It looks like it is having troubles serializing the returned data, but I cannot find much documentation on how to actually use Android XML-RPC. The way I am using Android XML-RPC is as follows: Object response = (Object)client.call("sales_order.list", new Object()); This one is pretty odd. I have tried setting this call up in a few different ways (using HashMaps, not passing second variable, etc) and the response I get is that sales_order.list is not a valid Method. I have been able to login to the service using the following code: this.sessionId = (String)client.call("login", this.apiUserName, this.apiPassword); Does anyone have any ideas or a good resource on how to use Android XML-RPC? What's the easiest way to pull out the two PropertyGroups below? <Project ToolsVersion="4.0" DefaultTargets="Build" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <PropertyGroup xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> 1 </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> 2 </PropertyGroup> </Project> I have been trying to use XElement.Elements(XName) but to do so I need to prefix PropertyGroup with the xmlns. The issue is that I don't care about the name space and if it changes in future I would still like all PropertyGroups to be retrieved. var xml = XElement.Load(fileNameWithPath); var nameSpace = xml.GetDefaultNamespace(); var propertyGroups= xml.Elements(nameSpace + "PropertyGroup"); Can you improve on this code such that I don't need to prepend with nameSpace? I know I can essentially just reimplement the Elements method but I was hoping there was some way to pass a wildcard namespace? Thanks, Gavin

    I was wondering where I can find some information how IE8 actually handles xml header... for example how is handling <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> different to <?xml version="1.0"?>. One other questions would be how FF handles those header. How is that different to IE8. I am almost 100% sure that they handle them differently but am still doing some research. /Marko

    Hi, I am trying to parse an itunes affiliate xml link purely for practise, using NSXMLParser but the link will not parse. The itunes affiliate xml link is this: http://itunes.apple.com/au/rss/topsongs/limit=50/genre=20/xml?partnerId=2003&TD_PARAM=http%3A%2F%2Fclkuk.tradedoubler.com%2Fclick%3Fp%3D23708%26a%3D1904172%26url%3D. it works perfectly in safari on my mac. The normal itunes link I tried parsing: http://itunes.apple.com/%@/rss/%@/limit=50/genre=20/xml works perfectly with the NSXMLParser. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Thanks in advanced.   • Allowing Xform controls for optional XML elements

    Hi, In designing an XForm interface to an XML database (using eXist and XSLTForms), I'd like to include an input control for an optional element. The XML data records already exist and while some contain the optional element, others don't. To update a record, I'm using the existing XML record as the model instance. The problem is that the form control is not displayed when the optional element is not present, which is logical, but presents a problem when a user wants to add data to the optional element. To be more explicit, here's an example data record, data.xml: <a> <b>content</b> </a> with RNC schema: start = element a { element b { text }, element notes { text }? } XForms model: <xf:model> <xf:instance xmlns="" src="data.xml"/> <xf:submission id="save" method="post" action="update.xq" /> </xf:model> And control: <xf:input ref="/a/notes"> <xf:label>Notes (optional): </xf:label> </xf:input> The problem is that the 'Notes' input control is simply not displayed. An obvious solution is to add a trigger button to allow the user to insert the element if needed, but it is preferable to just have the input control appear, and be empty. My question is: is there some subtle combination of lesser-know attributes/binds/multiple instances/xpath expressions that will cause the control to always be displayed? Thanks

    When I use the annotation: @XmlRootElement(name="RootElement", namespace="namespace") class RootElement { to create xml file from java, it creates the root element as: <ns2:RootElement xmlns:ns2="namespace"> but I wanted to create without the "ns2", like: <RootElement xmlns="namespace"> Any idea how to fix it?   • Improving performance for WRITE operation on Oracle DB in Java

    I've a typical scenario & need to understand best possible way to handle this, so here it goes - I'm developing a solution that will retrieve data from a remote SOAP based web service & will then push this data to an Oracle database on network. Also, this will be a scheduled task that will execute every 15 minutes. I've event queues on remote service that contains the INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE operations that have been done since last retrieval, & once I retrieve the events for last 15 minutes, it again add events for next retrieval. Now, its just pushing data to Oracle so all my interactions are INSERT & UPDATE statements. There are around 60 tables on Oracle with some of them having 100+ columns. Moreover, for every 15 minutes cycle there would be around 60-70 Inserts, 100+ Updates & 10-20 Deletes. This will be an executable jar file that will terminate after operation & will again start on next 15 minutes cycle. So, I need to understand how should I handle WRITE operations (best practices) to improve performance for this application as whole ? Current Test Code (on every cycle) - Connects to remote service to get events. Creates a connection with DB (single connection object). Identifies the type of operation (INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) & table on which it is done. After above, calls the respective method based on type of operation & table. Uses Preparedstatement with positional parameters, & retrieves each column value from remote service & assigns that to statement parameters. Commits the statement & returns to get event class to process next event. Above is repeated till all the retrieved events are processed after which program closes & then starts on next cycle & everything repeats again. Thanks for help !

Serilization / Deserialization by default serializer ~3 minutes. Load from DB 20 minutes and not loaded...     Hello. I'm building a mechanism to take XML data from a queue and call stored procs to save the data from the XML document directly to the database. This seems like something that NHibernate could address, but of course most of the information I find discusses going from objects to database instead of another data format (XML, in this case). Is there a way to use NHibernate in this fashion or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks.

  • Access denied error on select into outfile using Zend

    Hi, I'm trying to make a dump of a MySQL table on the server and I'm trying to do this in Zend. I have a model/mapper/dbtable structure for all my connections to my tables and I'm adding the following code to the mappers: public function dumpTable() { $db = $this->getDbTable()->getAdapter(); $name = $this->getDbTable()->info('name'); $backupFile = APPLICATION_PATH . '/backup/' . date('U') . '_' . $name . '.sql'; $query = "SELECT * INTO OUTFILE '$backupFile' FROM $name"; $db->query( $query ); } This should work peachy, I thought, but Message: Mysqli prepare error: Access denied for user 'someUser'@'localhost' (using password: YES) is what this results in. I checked the user rights for someUser and he has all the rights to the database and table in question. I've been looking around here and on the net in general and usually turning on "all" the rights for the user seems to be the solution, but not in my case (unless I'm overlooking something right now with my tired eyes + I don't want to turn on "all" on my production server). What am I doing wrong here? Or, does anybody know a more elegant way to get this done in Zend?

    I set up a metadata cache in Zend Framework because a lot of DESCRIBE queries were executed and it affected the performances. $frontendOptions = array ('automatic_serialization' => true); $backendOptions = array ('cache_dir' => CACHE_PATH . '/db-tables-metadata'); $cache = Zend_Cache::factory( 'Core', 'File', $frontendOptions, $backendOptions ); Zend_Db_Table::setDefaultMetadataCache($cache); I can indeed see the cache files created, and the website works great. However, when I launch unit tests, or a script of the same application that perform DB queries, I end up with an error because Zend couldn't read the cache files. This is because in the website, the cache files are created by the www user, and when I run phpunit or a script, it tries to read them with my user and it fails. Do you see any solution to that? I have some quickfix ideas but I'm looking for a good/stable solution. And I'd rather avoid running phpunit or the scripts as www if possible (for practical reasons).

However I didn't know how Sysprep worked before attempting this so it was a time-consuming nightmare (even after reviewing VMware vSphere ESXi 5's documentation)! I think I've figure out what I'm supposed to be doing, but it's still not working. The biggest problem at this point is that vSphere Client vCenter Customization Specification IP address information is not sticking when I load a Sysprep XML file with just 1 basic setting! This can only be a bug. Here is the process I'm using: PROCESS for Windows - vSphere Client Install Windows OS install VM Tools customize Windows (GPOs can be used to do this after deployment) install Applications (GPOs can be used to do this after deployment too) shutdown the VM convert the VM to a template create a custom Windows Sysprep XML answer file with desired customizations View Management Customization Specifications Manager create "New" Specification for "Target Virtual Machine OS" select Windows check "Use Custom Sysprep Answer File" (ADDS: Custom Sysprep File. KEEPS: Network (IP), Operating System Options (SID, Sysprep /generalize). REPLACES: Registration Information of Owner Name & Organization, Computer Name, Windows License (Key), Administrator Password, Time Zone, Run Once, Workgroup or Domain) name it as "VMwareCS-OS####R#x32/64w/Sysprep-TEST" (CS=Customization Specification) set Description as "Created YYYY/MM/DD by FLast" NEXT import a Sysprep answer file from secure location NEXT Custom settings NEXT click "..." box to right of "Use DHCP" set "Use the following IP settings:" for "IP Address" fill out the first 2 octets set appropriate values for other 2-3 fields set DNS server addresses OK NEXT check "Generate New Security ID (SID)" ALWAYS as template is likely a domain-member computer so it can be updated occasionally NEXT Finish View Inventory VMs and Templates right-click previously completed template Deploy Virtual Machine from this Template provide the new OS name (max15char) select inventory location NEXT select Host/Cluster (wait for validation to succeed) NEXT select Resource Pool (wait for validation to succeed) NEXT select Storage location NEXT check "Power on this virtual machine after creation" select "Customize using an existing customization specification" select desired specification select "Use the Customization Wizard to temporarily adjust the specification before deployment" NEXT NEXT Custom settings?   • Changing the mac address in a libvirt xml config file breaks network connectivity for the guest

    I'm using Xen with libvirt and trying to set it up on a bridged interface. I am able to install an OS and everything works as I would expect. If I save the xml output from "virsh dumpxml guest", edit the mac address for the interface, and then define the domU with this new xml file I find that traffic is no longer forwarded from the vif0.0 interface to br0. The ifcfg-eth0 file on the guest was automatically updated to reflect the new mac address and the ifconfig output looks the same. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to properly change the mac address for a libvirt configuration?
