  • How have popular iPhone games been ported to Android?

    - by Cirrostratus
I am not asking how could they have been, I want to know the real answer. Doodle Jump, Paper Toss and some others have versions on the iPhone and Android that are nearly exactly the same, with the iPhone version coming first. There is a small Objective-C compiler project for Android's NDK but the timing isn't right for these apps. There's also an Android port of Cocos2d but I doubt Doodle Jump used that. Titanium? Doubtful. As their respective code bases grow, I figure it'd get harder and harder to do an exact port from Objective-C to Java every release so I wonder if there is a better way. Are they sharing C++ code for example?

  • Problems with dotLess Stopping characters and hacks list?

    - by rDeeb
Have any one run into trouble when running dotLess and having hacks on your CSS files? Been working on a project... just installed dotLess after one year of development to ease a little bit the job of creating new CSS files for some new functionality of the web site, and recently our old CSS is not working correctly. Viewing the resulting CSS files we realized that the dotLess compiler stopeed at some hacks like this one: html>/**/body #itemTable .informationView fieldset textarea { min-height: 1.3em; height: 1.3em; } So we were wondering if there is any list of stopping words or hacks for dotLess?

  • Template class giving linker error ...

    - by Atul
Hi, I am having a template class which is exposed, in which I added a method. This class is in namespace A. Now, I am calling this method in another namespace (say B). Initially, compiler gave me linker error saying "unresolved external symbol" for this particular method. However, if I call this method inside the same namespace (that is A), it links well. After that, it links well in namespace B as well. Why could this be happening ? Does this has something to do with the creating Template object of my class ? Atul

  • BeautifulSoup can't parse a webpage?

    - by JLTChiu
I am using beautiful soup for parsing webpage now, I've heard it's very famous and good, but it doesn't seems works properly. Here's what I did import urllib2 from bs4 import BeautifulSoup page = urllib2.urlopen("http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/14/us/skydiver-record-attempt/index.html?hpt=hp_t1") soup = BeautifulSoup(page) print soup.prettify() I think this is kind of straightforward. I open the webpage and pass it to the beautifulsoup. But here's what I got: Warning (from warnings module): File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\bs4\builder\_htmlparser.py", line 149 "Python's built-in HTMLParser cannot parse the given document. This is not a bug in Beautiful Soup. The best solution is to install an external parser (lxml or html5lib), and use Beautiful Soup with that parser. See http://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/bs4/doc/#installing-a-parser for help.")) ... HTMLParseError: bad end tag: u'</"+"script>', at line 634, column 94 I thought CNN website should be well designed, so I am not very sure what's going on though. Does anyone has idea about this?

  • Access block level storage via kernel

    - by N 1.1
How to access block level storage via the kernel (w/o using scsi libraries)? My intent is to implement a block level storage protocol over network for learning purpose, almost the same way SCSI works. Requests will be generated by initiator and sent to target (both userspace program) which makes call to kernel module and returns the data using TCP protocol to initiator. So far, I have managed to build a simple "Hello" module and run it (I am new at kernel programming), but unable to proceed with block access. After searching a lot, I found struct buffer_head * bread(int dev,int block) in linux/fs.h, but the compiler throws error. error: implicit declaration of function ‘bread’ Please help, also feel free to advice on starting with kernel programming. Thank you!

  • Error when using --static option with macrubyc

    - by Jakub Hampl
I want to create a binary executable for a relatively simple script that would not require people to install macruby or HotCocoa. The script is here. I've understood that I want to use the --static option for the compiler and I'm using the following command: macrubyc -o postprocessor --static postprocessor.rb I get the following error: ld: library not found for -lLLVMBitWriter collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Error when executing `/usr/bin/g++ -o "postprocessor" -arch x86_64 -L/Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.6/usr/lib -lmacruby-static -L/usr/local/lib -lpthread -lffi -lm -lLLVMBitWriter -lLLVMX86CodeGen -lLLVMX86Info -lLLVMSelectionDAG -lLLVMAsmPrinter -lLLVMJIT -lLLVMExecutionEngine -lLLVMCodeGen -lLLVMScalarOpts -lLLVMTransformUtils -lLLVMipa -lLLVMAnalysis -lLLVMTarget -lLLVMMC -lLLVMCore -lLLVMSupport -lLLVMSystem -lpthread -ldl -lxml2 -lobjc -lauto -licucore -framework Foundation "/var/folders/wU/wUGgoG1JGeKBgwalWLPMAU+++TI/-Tmp-/main-72203.o" "./postprocessor.o"' What should I do to get this running?

  • "Cannot convert to IComparer"

    - by Odrade
I have the following IComparer defined for boxed RegistryItem objects: public class BoxedRegistryItemComparer : IComparer<object> { public int Compare(object left, object right) { RegistryItem leftReg = (RegistryItem)left; RegistryItem rightReg = (RegistryItem)right; return string.Compare(leftReg.Name, rightReg.Name); } } I want to use this to sort an ArrayList of boxed RegistryItems (It really should be a List<RegistryItem, but that's out of my control). ArrayList regItems = new ArrayList(); // fill up the list ... BoxedRegistryItemComparer comparer = new BoxedRegistryItemComparer(); ArrayList.sort(comparer); However, the last line gives the compiler error: "Cannot convert from BoxedRegistryItemComparer to System.Collections.IComparer". I would appreciate it if someone could point out my mistake.

  • Return a list of imported Python modules used in a script?

    - by Jono Bacon
Hi All, I am writing a program that categorizes a list of Python files by which modules they import. As such I need to scan the collection of .py files ad return a list of which modules they import. As an example, if one of the files I import has the following lines: import os import sys, gtk I would like it to return: ["os", "sys", "gtk"] I played with modulefinder and wrote: from modulefinder import ModuleFinder finder = ModuleFinder() finder.run_script('testscript.py') print 'Loaded modules:' for name, mod in finder.modules.iteritems(): print '%s ' % name, but this returns more than just the modules used in the script. As an example in a script which merely has: import os print os.getenv('USERNAME') The modules returned from the ModuleFinder script return: tokenize heapq __future__ copy_reg sre_compile _collections cStringIO _sre functools random cPickle __builtin__ subprocess cmd gc __main__ operator array select _heapq _threading_local abc _bisect posixpath _random os2emxpath tempfile errno pprint binascii token sre_constants re _abcoll collections ntpath threading opcode _struct _warnings math shlex fcntl genericpath stat string warnings UserDict inspect repr struct sys pwd imp getopt readline copy bdb types strop _functools keyword thread StringIO bisect pickle signal traceback difflib marshal linecache itertools dummy_thread posix doctest unittest time sre_parse os pdb dis ...whereas I just want it to return 'os', as that was the module used in the script. Can anyone help me achieve this?

  • Netbeans (PHP) catching syntax error on xml declaration

    - by Mike Valeriano
Hello. I've just installed and configured Netbeans to work with PHP (including xdebug), and almost everything is working as intended, except that I've been getting "errors" in the IDE after I edited the default webpage template to comply with xhtml 1.1. The template is this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="${project.encoding}" ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=${project.encoding}" /> <title></title> </head> <body> </body> </html> These are the errors I receive (I can't post images yet). Page is created OK, character encoding is inherited from project's settings as expected. It's probably something to do with the xml declaration on top of the document, but I don't really know how to "tune" Netbeans to ignore it and not show the 3 errors on every page I create. The warning is there because NB does not recognize the xhtml 1.1 DTD, so it falls back to html 4.01, which does not support the xmlns attribute in the html tag - and that's the only thing I could find searching around. It will be fixed in the next version, so I'm not worried about it. I know there's nothing wrong with the markup, but there's probably something I'm missing in NB configuration, and I would like to get rid of those messages because they pretty much take all the space I reserve for errors/warnings/tasks. So is there any way I can either make NB recognize this xml declaration or make it ignore these specific "errors"? Thanks.

  • Documentation generator for Google Closure Javascript

    - by Julius Eckert
I want to generate a HTML-Documentation for my Javascript code. The comments in my code are written in a format, the Google Closure Compiler can use to optimize my code. Example: /** * Class for handling timing events. * * @param {number=} opt_interval Number of ms between ticks (Default: 1ms). * @param {Object=} opt_timerObject An object that has setTimeout, setInterval, * clearTimeout and clearInterval (eg Window). * @constructor * @extends {goog.events.EventTarget} */ goog.Timer = function(opt_interval, opt_timerObject) { ... } I am looking for something like http://yardoc.org for Javascript. What tools can you recommend? Are there any specific tools for Google Closure code?

  • How to take a screenshot with Mono C#?

    - by vagabond
I'm trying to use use code get a screenshot in Mono C# but I'm getting a System.NotImplementedException when I call CopyFromScreen. My code works with .NET, so is there an alternate way of getting a screenshot using Mono? Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Width, Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Height); Graphics graphics = Graphics.FromImage(bitmap as Image); graphics.CopyFromScreen(0, 0, 0, 0, bitmap.Size); System.IO.MemoryStream memoryStream = new System.IO.MemoryStream(); bitmap.Save(memoryStream, imageFormat); bitmap.Save(@"\tmp\screenshot.png", ImageFormat.Png); I am using Mono JIT compiler version 2.4.2.3 (Debian 2.4.2.3+dfsg-2)

  • How important is it to use SSL?

    - by Mark
Recently I installed a certificate on the website I'm working on. I've made as much of the site as possible work with HTTP, but after you log in, it has to remain in HTTPS to prevent session hi-jacking, doesn't it? Unfortunately, this causes some problems with Google Maps; I get warnings in IE saying "this page contains insecure content". I don't think we can afford Google Maps Premier right now to get their secure service. It's sort of an auction site so it's fairly important that people don't get charged for things they didn't purchase because some hacker got into their account. All payments are done through PayPal though, so I'm not saving any sort of credit card info, but I am keeping personal contact information. Fraudulent charges could be reversed fairly easily if it ever came to that. What do you guys suggest I do? Should I take the bulk of the site off HTTPS and just secure certain pages like where ever you enter your password, and that's it? That's what our competition seems to do.

  • Best design for generating code from an AST?

    - by Sam Washburn
I'm working on a pretty complex DSL that I want to compile down into a few high level languages. The whole process has been a learning experience. The compiler is written in java. I was wondering if anyone knew a best practice for the design of the code generator portion. I currently have everything parsed into an abstract syntax tree. I was thinking of using a template system, but I haven't researched that direction too far yet as I would like to hear some wisdom first from stack overflow. Thanks!

  • Is it possible to have a Ocaml function that accepts only integer lists?

    - by Sam
I'm writing a recursive function in Ocaml that's supposed to count the number of items in an integer list (Yes I know there's a List.length function but I'm trying to do it myself). However the Ocaml compiler/interpreter forces me to use alpha list all the time. So is it wrong to say that, when a function accepts a list as a parameter, the type of that list must always be alpha? Thanks EDIT: the reason why it's inconvenient for me to use alpha lists is because i can't compare the head of the alpha list with an integer value due to type-matching complaints

  • Why Doesn't UIWebView release all of its memory?

    - by Theory
I have a graphic-intensive iPad app that features a UIWebView. Using the simulator (iOS 4.2.1), I can see Real Mem increase quite a lot as I browse. The more I browse, the more RAM it uses. When I close the UIWebView and release it, some of the memory it used is freed, but not all of it. This is annoying. Okay, so maybe it's because it isn't deallocated right away. Fine. But then I would expect the system to do some cleanup when there's a memory warning. However, if I browse around, then close the UIWebView (and release it), then trigger a memory warning in the simulator, Real Mem does not change! WTF? So why is this? Why isn't UIWebView better at releasing memory back to the system? And why doesn't it appear to respond to memory warnings? Am I missing something?

  • implicit parameter definition in class

    - by coubeatczech
implicit val odkaz = head; def vypis(implicit odkaz:Prvek):String = { odkaz match{ case null => "" case e => e.cislo + " " + e.pocet + "\n" + vypis(e.dalsi) } } ... def main(args:Array[String]){ val q = new MyQueue() // insert some values println(q.vypis) } This method(vypis) is a member of an queue-class so I'll always want to implicity start the recursion from the start of the queue, when calling the method from outside. Is there a way how to write it, that the method from outside calling, there's no paramter, but in inside, there's a parameter - for recursion...? The compiler complains that the parameter is not defined when called from outside

  • Licensing your code in Mono

    - by Jerry
I'm working with some code in Visual Studio. My parter-in-crime fellow developer has suggested that the code also be available to work under Mono. I'm impresed witht he work that is already done in Mono, but I'm very new to Mono, so I don't know what it can/cannot do. I've already written a class in C# using the .NET LicenseManager object. It writes to the windows registry, so I know I'll have to modify it so that it will use some compiler flags like #if Win32 or #if MONO. My question is two-fold: 1) Does Mono implement the same LicenseManager class structure? 2) If so, how do you guys lock down your code using LicenseManager in Linux? (i.e. Write to files, use a hardware dongle, compare to hardware serials, etc??)

  • Which is better for quickly developing small utilities? AutoIt or AutoHotKey?

    - by Abhijeet Pathak
Which is better for quickly developing small utilities? AutoIt or AutoHotKey or something else? I need to develop some small software for which I think using some professional suite like Visual Studio will be overkill. Most of the macro recording tools like AutoIt or AutoHotKey provide enough power to write decent application. Plus they are small and free. Which option will be good? Using one of these tools or using some other small/free compiler?

  • cmake and visual studio

    - by robUK
Hello, gcc 4.4.2 / Visual Studio C++ 2008 I have been using cmake on linux, without any problems. Now I have ported by application to run on windows. I generated the solution files using cmake -G "Visual Studio 9 2008 ../src" However, I know that cmake only creates a Makefile that is used by the compiler to build your application. I open my solution in Visual Studio, I press the F7 key to compile. I am wondering does it actually use the Makefile that was generated by cmake? Or it is just compiling the application like any normal visual studio program? Many thanks for any advice,

  • Globbing with MinGW on Windows

    - by Neil Butterworth
I have an application built with the MinGW C++ compiler that works something like grep - acommand looks something like this: myapp -e '.*' *.txt where the thing that comes after the -e switch is a regex, and the thing after that is file name pattern. It seems that MinGW automatically expands (globs in UNIX terms) the command line so my regex gets mangled. I can turn this behaviour off, I discovered, by setting the global variable _CRT_glob to zero. This will be fine for bash and other sensible shell users, as the shell will expand the file pattern. For MS cmd.exe users however, it looks like I will have to expand the file pattern myself. So my question - does anyone know of a globbing library (or facility in MinGW) to do partial command line expansion? I'm aware of the _setargv feature of the Windows CRT, but that expands the full command line. Please note I've seen this question, but it really does not address partial expansion.

  • Adding Existing Framework to Xcode (iPhone) error

    - by Urizen
I have added the <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> to my Frameworks folder in my iPhone project and added the #import "<QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h>" statement at the top of a custom UIView class. However the custom UIView class gives me a "No such file or directory" compliation error in relation to the <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> framework. Is there something else I need to set so that the compiler can see the framework. I'm not expert on the Xcode IDE so any assistance would be extremely welcome.
