  I have been using git a lot recently and I quite like the concept of how GIT avoid duplicating similar data by using a hashing function based on sha1. I was wondering if current databases do something similar, or is this inefficient for some reason?

  I have a click once application here that needs to be started offline exclusively sometimes. Reason is that it needs to be started VERY early during boot, at a point when there is no network connection yet, also it must not wait for any network connectivity.   Hi everyone im new to a PHP framework codeIgniter, I am going over the user guide iv ran in to a problem, I am on the part where you load helper file but for some reason my code just isnt working I keep getting this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function anchor() in /home/fresherd/public_html/CI/system/application/views/blogview.php on line 17 now im not 100% sure that it is loading the helper file this could be causing the but I am not sure how to detect the file has been loaded any advice will help many thanks, Alan

  Here's an excerpt from Sun's Java tutorials: A switch works with the byte, short, char, and int primitive data types. It also works with enumerated types (discussed in Classes and Inheritance) and a few special classes that "wrap" certain primitive types: Character, Byte, Short, and Integer (discussed in Simple Data Objects ). There must be a good reason why the long primitive data type is not allowed. Anyone know what it is?

For some reason, I do not see the option "Attach to Process" on the debug menu. I looked in the options, but I don't see an option that seems like it should hide it. • C#, why does Convert.ToBoolean("0") fail?

  I know that trying to convert string "0" to boolean will fail, I also know how to fix this, thanks to Jon Skeets answers on other questions. What I would like to know is WHY does C# not recognise "0" as a valid input for a boolean conversion, surely you could look at it like 0 = false, 1 = true, or even -1 = false and 0 = true, anyways, my logic tells me that it could be a valid input, so is there a very good reason why its not? My bet is old vb6 would be able to recognize the string input "0" as valid.

• Which ISO format should I use to store a user's language?

  Should I use ISO 639-1 (2-letter abbreviation) or ISO 639-2 (3 letter abbrv) to store the user's language? Both are official standards, but which is the de facto standard in the development community? I think ISO 639-1 would be easier to remember, and is probably more popular for that reason, but thats just a guess. • Why can't I make my parameter like this?

  - (void)setPropertyValue:(const *void)inValue forID:(UInt32)propertyID { } The compiler doesn't like the const *void, for some reason. When I have that, it says: error: expected ')' before 'void' When I make the parameter like (UInt32)foo there is no problem. Does const *void only work in functions? I need a parameter which can be a "pointer to anything" like UInt32, Float64, etc.

• C# MySQL Connector works in IDE, not after publish?

  For some reason I can't seem to get the MySQL Net Connector to work with C# outside of the IDE. I have a very simple program working just fine in the IDE (connecting to the database and everything) but when I publish the code and run the .application file (on my local computers desktop or off the company server) it says it can't connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :( Thank you

  I'm trying to use Registration.SensorTypeValue.MAGNETIC_FIELD in SmartWatch's 2 plugin. But values that I received put me into some dissapointed state, cause of few reason: Values is to big (I tested magnetic fields on 3 phones and result is like "-12. , 38, -14", and the watch give me something like "488, 440, -115") Values are almost static, they live in very small range.
