• Can events fired from an iframe be handled by elements in its parent?

  Suppose I have a page located at www.example.com/foo, and it contains an iframe with src="http://www.example.com/bar". I want to be able to fire an event from /bar and have it be heard by /foo. Using the Prototype library, I've tried doing the following without success: Element.fire(parent, 'ns:frob'); When I do this, in ff 3.5, I get the following error: Node cannot be used in a document other than the one in which it was created" code: "4 Line 0 Not sure if that's related to my problem. • YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest does not work in Safari

  When I request a webpage using YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest in Safari I always get Communication Failure message in callback's failure properties statusText. The same method works in IE. What could be wrong here? Here is the code. When the code is executed I always get two alerts: "Three" and "communications failure undefined" (corresponding to the second alert in the failure part below.) Also when I attach the debugger and put break point in the SAProvision.aspx's page load event, the break point is not hit. So it is sure that in safari the page is not being called. • slow android emulator

  I have a 2.67GHz Celeron Processor, 1.21GBs of RAM on a x86 Windows XP Pro machine. My understanding is that the emulator should start fairly quickly on such a machine, but for me it does not. I have followed all instructions in setting up the IDE, SDKs, JDKs and such and have had some success in staring the emulator quickly but is very particulary. How can I if possible fix this problem. Even if it starts and loads home screen it is very sluggish. Any help would be appreciated guys thanks. I have tried the Eclipse IDE in Galileos, and Ganymede.

• Escaping if/else in Jade template

  So I have a simply block of html in my jade template with a loop: each dude, i in dudes div(class='someClass') div.otherStuff span.someContent #{name} I want to apply a data attribute to my top most div when a certain looping condition is met, in this case the first dude, I set it up like this each dude, i in dudes if i == 0 div(class='someClass, data-someAttr='first dude') else div(class='someClass') div.otherstuff span.someContent Setup like this it causes the div.otherStuff div and the span.someContent to only display on the else condition. I've moved the tab spaces around on those items but I can't get it escape that else and give the div.otherStuff and span.someContent to both the first dude and the subsequent dudes after that. I've also tried setting that data attr to a variable and trying to apply it that way but without any success. What I end up doing to get around it is this: each dude, i in dudes if i == 0 div(class='someClass, data-someAttr='first dude') div.otherstuff span.someContent else div(class='someClass') div.otherstuff span.someContent How do I escape that if/else so I dont have to duplicate the div.otherStuff and span.someContent?

• How can I allow only privledged users to download a pdf with php?

  Lets say I have some pdf files stored on my server and I only want to allow a person who's paid have access to download a particular pdf. So for an example, let's say I have a bunch of e-books. The only way a user would be able to download e-book A is if his account contains the right credentials for that particular book. What's the best way to accomplish this? Any ideas/advice on how to improve my idea are greatly appreciated! My current idea: A user places an order Upon success, a new folder would be created by their /account_num/order_id/ A copy of the particular file would be stored in this directory Have php generate an .htaccess that would only allow access from a url that contains a random hash embedded into it. The only way a user would be able to access this random hashed page is if they are signed in as the right user, and the hash matches up with the hash stored in the database, otherwise they are redirected to home page.

  I have a div, let's call it class="phoneNo". Inside the div there are two links, one to add another div just like it, and another to delete the div itself. • EditText and Button on the same line with Textiew underneath?

  Hi, I am trying to have an EditText widget next to a button with a text view underneath. The EditText should resize and fill the screen accordingly, while the button's width is always only what it needs to be by setting the width to wrap_content. The layout should not be relative. Below is the code I have so far some of which was found here on StackOverflow. Removing the text view gives the desired appearance for the EditText and button, but when the TextView is added the view goes to ... well. Not sure why the code is not showing? • predict location of single-line text from a UITextView

  Is this possible? Specifically, I have a UITextView, and the text is short enough that it will fit on a single line. I want to predict where it will appear, so that (for example) if I wanted to, I could set up a UILabel that rendered the text in exactly the same location. Once I get that figured out, what I really want to do is pick contentInset and/or contentOffset so that the text of the UITextView and the left-justified UILabel will render in the same location. But I figure the above will let me do that. EDIT: In response to a comment, the fundamental problem I am trying to get around is that UITextField does not let you set the location of the cursor. It appears a lot of people have tried to get around this without success. I need to be able to move the cursor -- inserting/deleting text there is not enough.   I'm new in javascript and jQuery. I'm using ajax calls to get data from my server. The fact is, I'm losing my javascript variables after the call .. • crtmqm give no response

  Hi all, I try to create a WebSphere queue manager in production env. Before this I manage to create the queue manager in the development env with no problem. I'm using this script to create the queue manager: crtmqm -u SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE test1.qm But it give no response (no error or success message). When I try to start the queue manager (strmqm test1.qm) it give "AMQ8118: WebSphere MQ queue manager does not exist." Then I notice lots of strange thing that supposed not happen: I can run the "crtmqm -u SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE test1.qm" several times without any error I can just type crtmqm and got no response I can type crtmqm -y (which is not possible since there is no -y argument) and still no response Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

The problem is, if the first few chars match something and then you enter a char that should "break" any match, it just keeps the drop down in place with the results for the last matched char... make sense? • App Engine - Save response from an API in the data store as file (blob)

  Hi there, I'm banging my head against the wall with this one: What I want to do is store a file that is returned from an API in the data store as a blob. Here is the code that I use on my local machine (which of course works due to an existing file system): client.convertHtml(html, open('html.pdf', 'wb')) Since I cannot write to a file on App Engine I tried several ways to store the response, without success. Any hints on how to do this? I was trying to do it with StringIO and managed to store the response but then weren't able to store it as a blob in the data store. Thanks, Chris

• Help with running crontab from root

  Im using OSX and having trouble getting a cron job to run. I type the following: $ sudo -i $ crontab -e I then enter: * * * * * root ifconfig en0 down > /dev/null 0 19 * * * root ifconfig en0 down > /dev/null 0 7 * * * root ifconfig en0 up > /dev/null and no success, the first line is for testing. I want it to shut off my internet. The next two lines I plan to leave in, once I get this working. If I type this in to the terminal the internet goes off ifconfig en0 down Why is my cron job not shutting down the internet? FYI: This is a follow up question from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3027362/how-can-i-write-a-cron-job-that-will-block-my-internet-from-7pm-to-7am-so-i-can most of the comments there are people making fun of me. And a few attempts to solve the problem with out cron jobs.

  I did a quick search on how to check whether Internet is available or not. Most of them talked about making InterOp calls to wininet.dll. One of the answers pointed towards System.Net.NetworkInformation namespace. Exploring the namespace I found a class Ping which could be used to pinging to our servers from code, and checking whether server is available or not. What I want to ask is how this solution compares to other solutions?
