  • JQuery selfbuild plugin question - default value is overwritten.

    Hi jQuery ninjas. I need your help. I have made a really clean and simple example to illustrate my problem. I have build my own jquery plugin: (function($) { $.fn.setColorTest = function(options) { options = $.extend($.fn.setColorTest.defaults,options); return this.each(function() { $(this).css({ 'color': options.color}); }); } $.fn.setColorTest.defaults = { color: '#000' }; })(jQuery); As you can see I'm setting a default color and making it possible for the user to change it. How can I ensure that the first p always will use the default color? I know I can just define the color for the first p as well but that is not an option here $('#test1').setColorTest('color': '#000'); So what to do?

What am I doing wrong?

  • Creating one row of information in excel using a unique value

    This is my first post. I am currently working on a project at work which requires that I work with several different worksheets in order to create one mail master worksheet, as it were, in order to do a mail merge. The worksheet contains information regarding different purchases, and each purchaser is identified with their own ID number. Below is an example of what my spreadsheet looks like now (however I do have more columns): ID Salutation Address ID Name Donation ID Name Tickets 9 Mr. John Doe 123 12 Ms. Jane Smith 100.00 12 Ms.Jane Smith 300.00 12 Ms. Jane Smith 456 22 Mr. Mike Man 500.00 84 Ms. Jo Smith 300.00 What I would like to do is somehow sort my data so that everythign with the same unique identifier (ID) lines up on the same row. For example ID 12 Jane Smith - all the information for her will show up under her name matched by her ID number, and ID 22 will match up with 22 etc... When I merged all of my spreadsheets together, I sorted them all by ID number, however my problem is, not everyone who made a donation bought a ticket or some people just bought tickets and nothing us, so sorting doesn't work. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

    I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge... So initially i need to check if the cookie is set, if not, I direct the user to the login page. Once logged in, I need to read the cookies and send it as part of mt further requests.     I have seen people using 2 methods to declare and define char * Medhod-1: The header file has the below const char* COUNTRY_NAME_USA = "USA"; Medhod-2: The header file has the below declaration const char* COUNTRY_NAME_USA; The cpp file has the below defintion : const char* COUNTRY_NAME_USA = "USA"; Is method-2 wrong in some way ? What is the difference between the two ? I understand the difference between "const char * const var" , and "const char * var". If in the above methods if a "const char * const var" is declared and defined in the header as in method 1 will it make sense ?

    As noted in another thread, "In most businesses, code quality is defined in dollars." So my company has an opportunity to acquire a large-ish C code base. Obviously, if the code quality is good, the code base is worth more than if it's poor. That is, if we can readily read, understand, and update the code, it's worth more to us than if it's a spaghetti-coded mess. Without being able to see the code ahead of time, we'd like to set some objective measure as an acceptance criteria like "If the XXX measure is below the price will be discounted YY%." What criteria can we or should we measure and what tool can we use to measure it?

    i want to normalize date fields from an old badly designed db dump. i now need to update every row, where the datefield only contains the year. update table set date = '01.01.' + date where date like '____' and isnumeric(date) = 1 and date >= 1950 but this will not work, because sql does not do short circuit evaluation of boolean expressions. thus i get an error "error converting nvarchar '01.07.1989' to int" is there a way to work around this? the column also contains strings with a length of 4, which are not numbers (????, 5/96, 70/8, etc.) the table only has 60000 rows

This gives me literally em:updateURL=\"http:\/\/bla\/update.rdf\"\n on output file... so how to make the second version to give output like first version?

    I have multiple models which all have a FK to the same model. All I know is the FK how can I determine which of the models has the FK attached?     I've got a huge bunch of flights travelling between airports. Each airport has an ID and (x,y) coordinates. For a given list of flights, I want to find the northernmost (highest x) airport visited. Here's the query I'm currently using: SELECT name,iata,icao,apid,x,y FROM airports WHERE y=(SELECT MAX(y) FROM airports AS a , flights AS f WHERE (f.src_apid=a.apid OR f.dst_apid=a.apid) ) This works beautifully and reasonably fast as long as y is unique, but fails once it isn't. What I'd want to do instead is find the MAX(y) in the subquery, but return the unique apid for the airport with the highest y. Any suggestions?

    In the following code segment, after free(x), why does y becomes 0? As per my understanding, the memory in the heap that was being pointed to by x, and is still being pointed by y, hasn't been allocated to someone else, so how can it change to 0? And moreover, I don't think it is free(x) that changed it to 0.     I really can not describe my question better in the title. If anyone has suggestions: Please tell! I use the Linq to SQL framework in .NET. I ran into something which could be easily solved if the framework supported this, it would be a lot of extra coding otherwise: I have a n to n relation with a helper table in between. Those tables are: Items, places and the connection table which relates items to places and the other way. One item can be found in many places, so can one place have many items. Now of course there will be many items which will be in ALL places. Now there is a problem: Places can always be added. So I need a place-ID which encompasses ALL places, always. Like maybe a place-id "0". If the helper table has a row with the place-id of zero, this should be visible in all places. In SQL this would be a simple "Where [...] or place-id = 0", but how do I do this in Linq relations? Also, for a little side question: How could I manage "all but this place" kind of exclusions?
