  • Error with global variable in php not extending to included php file

    - by phileaton
    I have an html file that calls has a php section in the header like so: $page = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); Now further down in the html file I have a included footer like so: <?php include("footer.php"); ?> In this script I am referencing the $page variable, but it doesn't find it. I tried echoing the variable and nothing happened. When I place the basename() code in the footer.php file though, it handled it fine. I'd like to be efficient with the coding, so how can I get the footer.php file to get that $page variable? Is there a better way to do this than including the $page variable twice?

  • C++ Beginner - Trouble using structs and constants!

    - by Francisco P.
    Hello everyone! I am currently working on a simple Scrabble implementation for a college project. I can't get a part of it to work, though! Check this out: My board.h: http://pastebin.com/J9t8VvvB The subroutine where the error lies: //Following snippet contained in board.cpp //I believe the function is self-explanatory... //Pos is a struct containing a char, y, a int, x and an orientation, o, which is not //used in this particular case void Board::showBoard() { Pos temp; temp.o = 0; for (temp.y = 'A'; temp.y < (65 + TOTAL_COLUMNS); ++temp.y) { for (temp.x = 1; temp-x < (1 + TOTAL_ROWS); ++temp.x) { cout << _matrix[temp].getContents(); } cout << endl; } } The errors returned on compile time: http://pastebin.com/bZv7fggq How come the error states that I am trying to compare two Pos when I am comparing chars and ints? I also really can't place these other errors... Thanks for your time!

  • Incorrect output on changing sequence of declarations

    - by max
    Writing C++ code to implement Sutherland-Hodgeman polygon clipping. This order of declaration of these 2 statements gives correct output, reverse does not. int numberOfVertices = 5; Point pointList[] = { {50,50}, {200,300}, {310,110}, {130,90}, {70,40} }; I am passing the polygon vertex set to clippers in order - LEFT, RIGHT, TOP, BOTTOM. The exact error which comes when the declarations are reversed is that the bottom clipper, produces an empty set of vertices so no polygon is displayed after clipping. Correct: Incorrent: Confirmed by outputting the number of vertices produced after each pass: Correct: Incorrect: What is the reason for this error? Code: #include <iostream> #include <GL/glut.h> #define MAXVERTICES 10 #define LEFT 0 #define RIGHT 1 #define TOP 2 #define BOTTOM 3 using namespace std; /* Clipping window */ struct Window { double xmin; double xmax; double ymin; double ymax; }; struct Point { double x; double y; }; /* If I interchange these two lines, the code doesn't work. */ /**************/ int numberOfVertices = 5; Point pointList[] = { {50,50}, {200,300}, {310,110}, {130,90}, {70,40} }; /**************/ const Window w = { 100, 400, 60, 200 }; /* Checks whether a point is inside or outside a window side */ int isInside(Point p, int side) { switch(side) { case LEFT: return p.x >= w.xmin; case RIGHT: return p.x <= w.xmax; case TOP: return p.y <= w.ymax; case BOTTOM: return p.y >= w.ymin; } } /* Calculates intersection of a segment and a window side */ Point intersection(Point p1, Point p2, int side) { Point temp; double slope, intercept; bool infinite; /* Find slope and intercept of segment, taking care of inf slope */ if(p2.x - p1.x != 0) { slope = (p2.y - p1.y) / (p2.x - p1.x); infinite = false; } else { infinite = true; } intercept = p1.y - p1.x * slope; /* Calculate intersections */ switch(side) { case LEFT: temp.x = w.xmin; temp.y = temp.x * slope + intercept; break; case RIGHT: temp.x = w.xmax; temp.y = temp.x * slope + intercept; break; case TOP: temp.y = w.ymax; temp.x = infinite ? p1.x : (temp.y - intercept) / slope; break; case BOTTOM: temp.y = w.ymin; temp.x = infinite ? p1.x : (temp.y - intercept) / slope; break; } return temp; } /* Clips polygon against a side, updating the point list (called once for each side) */ void clipAgainstSide(int sideToClip) { int i, j=0; Point s,p; Point outputList[MAXVERTICES]; /* Main algorithm */ s = pointList[numberOfVertices-1]; for(i=0 ; i<numberOfVertices ; i++) { p = pointList[i]; if(isInside(p, sideToClip)) { /* p inside */ if(!isInside(s, sideToClip)) { /* p inside, s outside */ outputList[j] = intersection(p, s, sideToClip); j++; } outputList[j] = p; j++; } else if(isInside(s, sideToClip)) { /* s inside, p outside */ outputList[j] = intersection(s, p, sideToClip); j++; } s = p; } /* Updating number of points and point list */ numberOfVertices = j; /* ERROR: In last call with BOTTOM argument, numberOfVertices becomes 0 */ /* all earlier 3 calls have correct output */ cout<<numberOfVertices<<endl; for(i=0 ; i<numberOfVertices ; i++) { pointList[i] = outputList[i]; } } void SutherlandHodgemanPolygonClip() { clipAgainstSide(LEFT); clipAgainstSide(RIGHT); clipAgainstSide(TOP); clipAgainstSide(BOTTOM); } void init() { glClearColor(1,1,1,0); glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); gluOrtho2D(0,1000,0,500); } void display() { glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); /* Displaying ORIGINAL box and polygon */ glColor3f(0,0,1); glBegin(GL_LINE_LOOP); glVertex2i(w.xmin, w.ymin); glVertex2i(w.xmin, w.ymax); glVertex2i(w.xmax, w.ymax); glVertex2i(w.xmax, w.ymin); glEnd(); glColor3f(1,0,0); glBegin(GL_LINE_LOOP); for(int i=0 ; i<numberOfVertices ; i++) { glVertex2i(pointList[i].x, pointList[i].y); } glEnd(); /* Clipping */ SutherlandHodgemanPolygonClip(); /* Displaying CLIPPED box and polygon, 500px right */ glColor3f(0,0,1); glBegin(GL_LINE_LOOP); glVertex2i(w.xmin+500, w.ymin); glVertex2i(w.xmin+500, w.ymax); glVertex2i(w.xmax+500, w.ymax); glVertex2i(w.xmax+500, w.ymin); glEnd(); glColor3f(1,0,0); glBegin(GL_LINE_LOOP); for(int i=0 ; i<numberOfVertices ; i++) { glVertex2i(pointList[i].x+500, pointList[i].y); } glEnd(); glFlush(); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_SINGLE | GLUT_RGB); glutInitWindowSize(1000,500); glutCreateWindow("Sutherland-Hodgeman polygon clipping"); init(); glutDisplayFunc(display); glutMainLoop(); return 0; }

  • Undefined Variable? But I defined it...

    - by Rob
    Well before anyone claims that theres a duplicate question... (I've noticed that people who can't answer the question tend to run and look for a duplicate, and then report it.) Here is the duplicate you are looking for: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2481382/php-claims-my-defined-variable-is-undefined However, this isn't quite a duplicate. It gives me a solution, but I'm not really looking for this particular solution. Here is my problem: Notice: Undefined variable: custom Now here is my code: $headers = apache_request_headers(); // Request the visitor's headers. $customheader = "Header: 7ddb6ffab28bb675215a7d6e31cfc759"; //This is what the header should be. foreach ($headers as $header => $value) { $custom .= "$header: $value"; } Clearly, $custom is defined. According to the other question, it's a global and should be marked as one. But how is it a global? And how can I make it a (non-global)? The script works fine, it still displays what its supposed to and acts correctly, but when I turn on error messages, it simply outputs that notice as well. I suppose its not currently necessary to fix it, but I'd like to anyway, as well as know why its doing this.

  • odd behavior setting timeouts inside a function with global references in javascript

    - by Pablo
    Here is the the function and the globals: $note_instance = Array(); $note_count = 0; function create(text){ count = $note_count++; time = 5000; $note_instance[count] = $notifications.notify("create", text); setTimeout(function(){ $note_instance[count].close() }, time); } The function simply opens a notification, a sets a timeout to close it in 5 seconds. so if i call this create("Good Note 1"); create("Good Note 2"); create("Good Note 3"); Ecah note should close 5 seconds from their creation, however always and only the last note closes, in this case "Good Note 3". Each note object has its own entry in the the $note_instance global array so the timeouts should no be overwriting themselves. What am i missing here folks? Thanks in advance

  • Attach GestureRecogniser to multiple imageviews

    - by AppleDeveloper
    Something strange I encountered today while attaching same gesture recogniser to multiple image views. It gets attached to only the last one, in other words, it can be attached to only one view! I had to create multiple gesture recognisers to meet my requirements. Following is what I have done. Am I doing correct? Is that's the only way to attach recognisers to the multiple imageviews? Please note that I don't want to use UITableView or UIVIew and put all imageviews in it and attach gesture recogniser to only UITableView or UIVIew. I have all image scattered and I have to detect which image is being dragged. Thanks. • Adding extra data to a Variable

    - by DogPooOnYourShoe
    Right now, my code plucks out only one value using Mysql. So I thought I might aswell add each found result to a variable, however I dont know how to do this. This must be a very basic question, but I cant find a answer for it echo '<table border="1">'; echo "<tr><td><b>Surname</b></td><td><b>Title/Name</b></td><td><b>Numbers</b></td><td><b>Telephone</b></td><td><b>Edit</b></td><td><b>Del</b></td></tr>\n"; while ($row= mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $Surname = $row["Surname"]; $Title = $row["TitleName"]; $Email = $row["Email"]; $Telephone = $row["Telephone"]; $id = $row["id"]; $MooringNumbers = $row['Number']; $Assignedto['AssignedTo']; } $MooringQuery = "select * FROM mooring WHERE AssignedTo='$id'"; $MooringResult = mysql_query($MooringQuery) or die("Couldn't execute query"); while ($row1= mysql_fetch_array($MooringResult)) { $AssignedTo = $row1["AssignedTo"]; $MooringNumbers = $row1["Number"]; echo '<tr><td>' .$Surname.'</td><td>'.$Title.'</td><td>'.$MooringNumbers . '</td><td>'.$Telephone.'</td><td>' . '<a href="rlayCustomerUpdtForm.php?id='.$id.'">[EDIT]</a></td>'.'<td>'. '<a href="deleteCustomer.php?id='.$id.'">[x]</a></td>'. '</tr>'; }

  • Weird behavior in referring to global variable. Is this a bug in javascript? Surely it isn't!

    - by Chandan .
    Consider the following piece of code. <html> <body> <script> var x = 5; //globally declared function showX() { alert("x="+x); //trying to display global value var x=10; //trying to create and initialize a local x } </script> <input type = "button" value="Show X" onclick="showX()"> </body> </html> The alert statement shows 'x=undefined'. And doesn't print the global value of x as expected. An equivalent java code would display 5! So, is it a bug? If not then how does one explain that behavior?

  • How to set result of function as global variable.

    - by George
    I'm sure this is really simple and I'm drawing a giant blank, but how do you set the result of a function as a global variable? Example, I want to set the first "color" in array "colors" as global variable "color" (I know the example doesn't make much practical sense, but it's just to illustrate my question): var color = ""; function selectColor () { var colors = ["blue","red","green","yellow"]; var color = colors[0]; return color; } window.onload = function () { selectColor (); alert(color); }

  • actionscript 2.0 input text box

    - by user1769760
    So, here's what I'm trying to do, and I, frankly, believe it should be obvious, but I can't figure it out. I am creating a very simple Artificial Intelligence simulation. And in this simulation there's an input box at the bottom of the screen (called "input" exactly). "input" has a variable in its properties that is called "inbox" (exactly). Using a key listener the script calls up a function when the enter button is pressed. This function has 2 if statements and an else statement which dictate the responses of the AI (named "nistra"). The problem is this, When I type in what I want to say, and hit enter, it always uses the second response ("lockpick" in the code below). I have tried variations on the code but I still don't see the solution. I believe the problem is that the "typein" variable holds all the format information from the text box as well as the variable, but I could be wrong, that information is in here as well, underneath the code itself. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. var typein = ""; //copies the text from inbox into here, this is what nistra responds to var inbox = ""; //this is where the text from the input text box goes var respond = ""; //nistra's responses go here my_listener = new Object(); // key listener my_listener.onKeyDown = function() { if(Key.isDown(13)) //enter button pressed { typein = inbox; // moves inbox into typein nistraresponse(); // calles nistra's responses } //code = Key.getCode(); //trace ("Key pressed = " + code); } Key.addListener(my_listener); // key listener ends here nistraresponse = function() // nistra's responses { trace(typein); // trace out what "typein" holds if(typein = "Hello") // if you type in "Hello" { respond = "Hello, How are you?"; } if(typein = "lockpick") // if you type in "lockpick" { respond = "Affirmative"; } else // anything else { respond = "I do not understand the command, please rephrase"; } cntxtID = setInterval(clearnistra, 5000); // calls the function that clears out nistra's response box so that her responses don't just sit there } clearnistra = function() // clears her respond box { respond = ""; clearInterval(cntxtID); } // "typein" traces out the following <TEXTFORMAT LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="CENTER"><FONT FACE="Times New Roman" SIZE="20" COLOR="#FF0000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">test</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT>

  • Ruby - Is there a way to overwrite the __FILE__ variable?

    - by Markus Orrelly
    I'm doing some unit testing, and some of the code is checking to see if files exist based on the relative path of the currently-executing script by using the FILE variable. I'm doing something like this: if File.directory?(File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__),'..','..','directory')) blah blah blah ... else raise "Can't find directory" end I'm trying to find a way to make it fail in the unit tests without doing anything drastic. Being able to overwrite the __ FILE __ variable would be easiest, but as far as I can tell, it's impossible. Any tips?

  • Is my Perl script grabbing environment variabless from "someplace else"?

    - by Michael Wilson
    On a Solaris box in a "mysterious production system" I'm running a Perl script that references an environment variable. No big deal. The contents of that variable from the shell both pre- and post-execution are what I expect. However, when reported by the script, it appears as though it's running in some other sub-shell which is clobbering my vars with different values for the duration of the script. Unfortunately I really can't paste the code. I'm trying to get an atomic case, but I'm at my wit's end here.

  • identify the input that is multiple of 11 and odd or even java

    - by Bolor Ch
    i am trying to write code to determine the nature of input using if statement only. The nature of input could be following: a multiple of 11 even or odd. For the code below, when I enter my input, it does not display the result as "input:NOT:ODD". Also how can I check multiple conditions with if statement? (else is not considered) import java.util.Scanner; public class test { public static void main( String args[] ) { Scanner input = new Scanner( System.in ); int x; int EO; int Mult; System.out.print ( "Enter value: " ); x = input.nextInt(); EO = x % 2; Mult = x % 11; if (EO > 0 && Mult > 0) { System.out.printf ("%d:NOT:ODD"); } } }

  • Associating multiple MySQL queries w/ PHP?

    - by anon
    I am trying to create a simple inventory request system. A user can enter multiple SKU's that will query the inventory database. My problem is I am trying to do is associate these multiple queries into a type of list. This list can later be retrieved and contains all queries that were submitted simultaneously. When the list is filled it can then be deleted. Is this possible? I am just looking to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks

  • numpy arange with multiple intervals

    - by Heiko Westermann
    Hi, i have an numpy array which represents multiple x-intervals of a function: In [137]: x_foo Out[137]: array([211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 218, 940, 941, 942, 943, 944, 945, 946, 947, 948, 949, 950]) as you can see, in x_foo are two intervals: one from 211 to 218, and one from 940 to 950. these are intervals, which i want to interpolate with scipy. for this, i need to adjust the spacing, e.g "211.0 211.1 211.2 ..." which you would normaly do with: arange( x_foo[0], x_foo[-1], 0.1 ) in the case of multiple intervals, this is not possible. so heres my question: is there a numpy-thonic way to do this in array-style? or do i need to write a function which loops over the whole array and split if the difference is 1? thanks!

  • PHP - How to determine if request is coming from a specific file.

    - by John
    I have fileA.php on SERVER_A and fileB.php on SERVER_B fileB.php makes a curl request to fileA.php for it's contents How can fileA.php determine that the request is coming specifically from fileB.php? -- I was thinking about sending the $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'] in fileB.php to fileA.php but since someone can go into fileB.php or any file in general and just do $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'] = 'fileB.php'; it's not really that secure. So how can I determine, for security reasons, that the request is coming from a specific file on a different server?

  • Python: Best practice for including a version number in an app?

    - by Ben
    I have a PyQt application that reads and writes data files. I am including a 'version number' in each file written. This is a simple number similar to: 1.2 or something (major and minor versions). I am doing this so that I can change the format of these data files in future versions and then still correctly parse them simply by checking to see what the version is inside the file. My question is what is the best practice for keeping this number stored inside the app itself. I.e. do I just hard-code the app version number into the class that is responsible for reading and writing files? Or should I have some sort of object/variable stored at the top-level of the app and somehow access it from the class responsible for reading and writing these files. If the latter, how do I store it and how do I access it? Thanks.
