  • How to create database records for a financial year

    Hello, I need to create entities (specifically contracts) in a database table that are associated with a financial year. These contracts will be applied to projects. Any contract variation will be recorded by creating a new contract record for the same financial year but the original will remain associated with the project as a history. The projects can last several years and so at any one time a project will have a live contract record for each year as well as any number of historic contracts for that year. All of which is incidental but I'm trying to provide some context. If the contracts where for the year - it would be easy and I'd just store the Year either as a date field with the 1st of January or just an Integer. However the contracts run for financial years and I don't know how to approach this. I don't want a separate table containing the financial years as I don't want the users to have to maintain this. I don't want to store the financial year as a string "2009/2010" as this is not ideal for sorting/extracting the data. Any ideas will be helpful, my best so far is to have starting and ending year in 2 columns and just "KNOW" that starting is April of the year etc Thanks

  • Hausman Test, Fixed/random effects in SAS?

    Hey guys, I'm trying to do a fixed effecs OLS regression, a random effects OLS Regression and a Hausman test to back up my choice for one of those models. Alas, there does not seem to be a lot of information of what the code looks like when you want to do this. I found for the Hausman test that proc model data=one out=fiml2; endogenous y1 y2; y1 = py2 * y2 + px1 * x1 + interc; y2 = py1* y1 + pz1 * z1 + d2; fit y1 y2 / ols 2sls hausman; instruments x1 z1; run; you do something like this. However, I do not have the equations in the middle, which i assume to be the fixed and random effects models? On an other site I found that PROC TSCSREG automatically displays the Hausman test, unfortunately this does not work either. When I type PROC TSCSREG data = clean; data does not become blue meaning SAS does not recognize this as a type of data input? proc tscsreg data = clean; var nof capm_erm sigma cv fvyrgro meanest tvol bmratio size ab; run; I tried this but obviously doesn't work since it does not recognize the data input, I've been searching but I can't seem to find a proper example of how the code of an hausman test looks like. On the SAS site I neither find the code one has to use to perform a fixed/random effects model. My data has 1784 observations, 578 different firms (cross section?) and spans over a 2001-2006 period in months. Any help?

  • How can I add a default header to my source files automatically in Eclipse?

    Hi. I'm trying to figure out how I can have a comment header automatically added to all new source files in my eclipse java project. I've looked around but I haven't found a simple solution to automate this process. I gave JAutodoc a try, and even though it does allow me to specify a header I still had to tell the plugin manually to inject the header and it didn't seem very fond of my keyword-subsitution. I'm by the way using the Maven2 plugin for Eclipse for most of my projects if that's any help. Any tips?

  • ASP.NET Nested masterpages, how to set content in the top page from the aspx file?

    I have some content from a CMS that I need to move to raw asp.net pages. Since the templates are nested I guess I can use nested masterpages to acomplish it, but I'm finding that I can't set values on the top masterpage from the deep child page. Here is a sample. I have several nested masterpages with contentplaceholders: top master (with contentPlaceHolder1) nested master, dependent on top master (with contentPlaceHolder2) aspx page, dependent on nested master, defines content for contentPlaceHolder1 and 2 The problem is that asp.net doesn't allow me to have the value of contentPlaceHolder1 defined in the content page, it should be defined in the nested master. But the point is that the client page knows that value, not the template masters (for instance, the page knows about the graphic it has to display on the the top, but the placeholder for the graphic is the top master). How can I set values in the aspx page to be rendered in the top master?

    I currently work for a company that uses Kayako for their support system. They sell an extra program called Insta Alert that plays a sound when a new ticket is submitted. I use WHMCS for my own company, and would like to develop something to work with it that does the same thing. Question 1) How do I make it so it returns those with personality type 2 ONLY and no other personality traits? Find any man in the USA that is between 22 and 53 that is of personality type 2 (only) that is looking for a woman. Question 2) Supposing I want to find someone that matches personality type 1, personality type 2, and personality type 5 ONLY. There are 14 personality traits in the database and a user can be associated with any of them. Find any man in the USA that is between 22 and 53 that is of personality type 1, 2, and 5 (ONLY) that is looking for a woman.

  • How can I equalize the heights of text input fields?

    What is the best way to equalize the height of my <select..> elements and my <input type="text"..> elements? It's proving difficult because of differences in box-sizing models. Google Chrome's user agent stylesheet has this: select { -webkit-box-sizing: border-box; } ..whereas other text input fields use the content box model. Why the difference? Should I perhaps make all of my text-based input fields use the border-box model? BTW, I'm using standards-compliant mode (by using <!DOCTYPE html>).

    Background: I have an ASP.NET page which has a numebr of user controls within it. There are 2 user controls which are of interest. I need to display either one of them or neither of them, depending on the record selected previously. In the user controls I need to set properties of some controls which are in a FormView. So in my user control code-behind I have a number of properties which look something like this: Private ReadOnly Property phSectionReports() As PlaceHolder Get Return fvConfirmationReport.FindControl("phSectionReports") End Get End Property The problem: I am having problems with this Property. Sometimes it is returning Nothing/Null and sometimes it is throwing a NullArgumentException with the message "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: container". The exception is coming from trying to reference the fvConfirmationReport variable. fvConfirmationReport is the ID of my FormView in the page itself.     I have the folliwng JSON request code on an ASP.NET MVC web application: var userID = 'id=' + $('#namesList').val(); $.getJSON('/Person/GetPerson/', userID, function(data) { $('#collar').text(data.collarNumber); $('#name').text(data.Name); $('#email').text(data.EmailAddress); }); This creates a request such as: http://localhost:48610/Person/GetPerson/?id=6. Why is there a question mark in there? I get the server error The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'id' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32'.... If I make the request manually without the question mark it works fine.

  • Do not show partial items in a WPF listbox

    I've tried Google and I've tried Bing to no avail. Does anyone here have an idea on how to prevent partial items from appearing in a listbox in WPF? In case that does not make sense here is an example: Listbox is 200 pixels tall - each item is 35 pixels tall. That means I can show 5.7 items. 7/10 of an item is undesirable. I'd like to limit it to showing only 5 items. The user could then scroll to see the additional items. Should I A) try to dynamically size the listbox or ScrollViewer ViewPort so that it fits perfectly? Or B) implement a custom panel that would not arrange a child whose desired height is more than the remaining vertical space? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Last note: If anyone knows of a 3rd party control (listbox or grid) that does this I would be interested in that as well.

    I would like to know how I can count the number of unique values in a jagged array. My domain object contains a string property that has space delimitered values. class MyObject { string MyProperty; //e.g = "v1 v2 v3" } Given a list of MyObject's how can I determine the number of unique values? The following linq code returns an array of jagged array values. A solution would be to store a temporary single array of items, looped through each jagged array and if values do not exist, to add them. Then a simple count would return the unique number of values. However, was wondering if there was a nicer solution. db.MyObjects.Where(t => !String.IsNullOrEmpty(t.MyProperty)) .Select(t => t.Categories.Split(new char[] { ' ' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)) .ToArray() Below is a more readable example: array[0] = { "v1", "v2", "v3" } array[1] = { "v1" } array[2] = { "v4", "v2" } array[3] = { "v1", "v5" } From all values the unique items are v1, v2, v3, v4, v5. The total number of unique items is 5. Is there a solution, possibly using linq, that returns either only the unique values or returns the number of unique values?

  • NSZombieEnabled hides EXC_BAD_ACCESS error entirely

    So I have a subclass of a UIView that starts causing EXC_BAD_ACCESS errors when I go through a specific set of conditions (run on iPad instead of iPhone or simulator, first login only). It throws the exception when the UIView subclass gets deallocated, during the last line, where I have [super dealloc]. I heard about using NSZombieEnabled, so I tossed that on to see if I could get any more information about it, but now it hides the error completely! Does anyone know a bit more about this type of situation? I thought NSZombie would start spewing stuff into my console like before, but I'm hoping that the nonexistance of errors would tell me some sort of information as well.

  • Using Thor for generators in a Ruby Gem

    How do I setup a Gem to have a binary command eg. "project newProject" that uses Thor's set of generator commands to create files etc.? A good answer would describe how to layout the skeleton of a gem that that when run from the command line "project newProject" creates 1 file named "newProject.txt" in the directory it's run from. I've seen that Rails 3 is using Thor to power it's generators, seems like a really good solution and i'd like to use a similar approach in non-Rails ruby gem i'm working on. Tried looking at the Rails 3 source but it's a bit labyrinthine hence the question.
