  • How do I configure DFS replication using the command line?

    - by zneak
Hello everyone, I'm in the process of making a script to automate DFS creation and replication for an exam I have next week. So, assuming I have a namespace: dfsutil root adddom \\Foo\bar 'My namespace' And I have a link: dfsutil link add \\Foo\Bar\CoolStuff \\Server2\CoolStuff 'Neat stuff' How can I use the command line to replicate \\Server2\CoolStuff over, say, \\Server3\CoolStuff? When I use dfscmd: dfscmd /add \\Foo\Bar\CoolStuff \\Server3\CoolStuff It says it ended correctly, but opening up the MMC shows that there are no replication groups for CoolStuff. Thanks!

  • How to use graphical line drawing characters with Midnight Commander on OS X under ssh?

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
I discovered that when I do ssh to a machine using OS X 10.6 and use mc I do not see the graphical line drawing characters. This does not happen if I open terminal and start mc. I'm connecting using putty configured to use xterm-color, configuraton that works just fine if I do ssh to a linux machine. The mc from OS X is version 4.7.0 (installed using macports). What locale returns: LC_CTYPE="C" <== ssh LC_CTYPE="UTF-8" <== Terminal.app ssh: mc display bits shows: 7-bit ASCII (changing does not help, it defaults to the same value) Terminal.app: mc display bits shows: UTF-8 The environment shows TERM=xterm-color in both cases Terminal.app and ss but mc looks different. I filed a bug to mc with this information at http://www.midnight-commander.org/ticket/2339

Hello , I need to know if there is anyway utility bult-in windows 2003 that I can use from the command line to download a file using only one command. Basically I know that I can download from ftp using the "ftp" utility but in order to do that I need to do first "ftp open" and then pass the other commands so it doesn't help me because I need to do perform the download only from one command. The download may be performed through http, ftp or any other protocol. • how to stop powershell mangling command line options for program executed from shell?

    - by kem
From the powershell prompt, when I try to run a program and feed it a command line option, powershell ends up mangling the option. Why does this happen? Is there any way to stop it besides enclosing the option in quotes? For example, from the powershell prompt: PS Microsoft.PowerShell.Core\FileSystem::\\mach\share .\myprog.exe -file=input.txt myprog.exe ends up getting two arguments: 1) -file=input 2) .txt I need to run it like: .\myprog.exe "-file=input.txt" or .\myprog.exe '-file=input.txt' to force it to be one argument. No other shell does this.

  • How to execute a scheduled task with "schtasks" without opening a new command line window ?

    - by Misha Moroshko
I have a batch file that creates a scheduled task using schtasks like this: schtasks /create /tn my_task_name /tr "...\my_path\my_task.bat" /sc daily /st 10:00:00 /s \\my_computer_name /u my_username /p my_password It works OK except the fact that when my_task.bat is executed - a new command line window is opened (and closed after execution). I would like to avoid opening this new window (i.e. to run the task in quiet mode, in the background). I thought to use start /b ...\my_path\my_task.bat but I don't know how, because since I have to call start from the batch file I need to precede it with cmd /c, which again causes the new window to open. How could I solve this problem ?

  • How to monitor a folder and trigger a command-line action when a file is created or edited?

    - by bigmattyh
I need to set up some sort of a script on my Vista machine, so that whenever a file is added to a particular folder, it automatically triggers a background process that operates on the file. (The background process is just a command-line utility that takes the file name as an argument, along with some other predefined options.) I'd like to do this using native Windows features, if possible, for performance and maintenance reasons. I've looked into using Task Scheduler, but after perusing the trigger system for a while, I haven't been able to make much sense of it, and I'm not even sure if it's capable of doing what I need. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

  • How do I get vmbuilder to progress?

  • SimpleXMLElement (PHP) throwing error on XML root attributes

    - by Greg
I am working on a project that will take XML data submitted through a textarea input in a form then extract the data and throw it into a database. I am getting errors about the attribute in the root field of my XML (it is the same schema each time, but with different values). If i remove these attributes it works fine, but I don't want to have to remove these attributes each I time I go to send the data to the script. here is a sample of my data and code I am using (the part that is giving me errors): <raid generatedFrom="HeadCount" version="1.7.4"> --snip-- </raid> If I post the data as such, i get errors such as: Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : AttValue: " or ' expected in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : attributes construct error in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : Couldn't find end of Start Tag raid line 1 in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'String could not be parsed as XML' in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php:13 Stack trace: #0 /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php(13): SimpleXMLElement->__construct('<raid generated...') #1 {main} thrown in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 If I remove the attributes from the root node then it works fine with no errors. • Create Downloadable CSV File from PHP Script

    - by Aphex22
How would I create a formatted version of the following PHP script as a downloadable CSV file from the code below (1.0) At the moment the fputcsv function is currently dumping the unparsed PHP/HTML code into a CSV file. This is incorrect. The downloaded CSV file should contain the columns and rows generated from the code at (1.0) as shown in the image link below. I've tried using the following code at the top of the PHP file: // output headers so that the file is downloaded rather than displayed header('Content-Type: text/csv; charset=utf-8'); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=amazon.csv'); // create a file pointer connected to the output stream $output = fopen('php://output', 'w'); $mysql_hostname = ""; $mysql_user = ""; $mysql_password = ""; $mysql_database = ""; $bd = mysql_connect($mysql_hostname, $mysql_user, $mysql_password) or die("Could not connect database"); mysql_select_db($mysql_database, $bd) or die("Could not select database"); $sql = "select * from product WHERE on_amazon = 'on' AND active = 'on'"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die ( mysql_error() ); // loop over the rows, outputting them while ($sql_result = mysql_fetch_assoc($sql)) fputcsv($output, $sql_result); 1.0 The start of the code outputs the column headings for the CSV file: // set headers echo " item_sku, external_product_id, external_product_id_type, item_name, brand_name, manufacturer, product_description, feed_product_type, update_delete, part_number, model, standard_price, list_price, currency, quantity, product_tax_code, product_site_launch_date, merchant_release_date, restock_date ... <br>"; And then follows PHP script for the column values // load all stock while ($line = mysql_fetch_assoc($result) ) { ?> <?php $size_suffix = array ("",'_chain','_con_b','_con_c'); $arrayLength = count ($size_suffix); for($y=0;$y<$arrayLength;$y++) { //Possible size array to loop through when checking quantity $con_size = array (36,365,37,375,38,385,39,395,40,405,41,415,42,425,43,435,44,445,45,455,46,465,47,475,48,485); $arrlength=count($con_size); for($x=0;$x<$arrlength;$x++) { // check if size is available if($line['quantity_c_size_'.$con_size[$x].$size_suffix[$y]] > 0 ) { ?> <!-- item sku --> <?=$line['product_id']?>, <!-- external product id --> <?=$line['code_size_'.$con_size[$x].'']?>, <? • How do I define an nmake macro from command line output?

    - by Mike Atlas
I'd like to capture the output from a tool from the command line into an nmake macro. If this were a normal command line script, it would look like this: > MyTool.exe > output.txt > set /P MyVariable=<output.txt > echo %MyVariable% However, I can't seem to find anything relevant in the nmake doc on macros that is relevant. There is scant text on the web on nmake, unfortunately... This is basically what I'd like to do, though: target: @call MyTool.exe > output.txt # This doesn't work in .mak, unfortunately. Help! @MyVariable=<output.txt @echo $(MyVariable)

  • Python soap using soaplib (server) and suds (client)

    - by Celso Axelrud
This question is related to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1751027/python-soap-server-client In the case of soap with python, there are recommendation to use soaplib (http://wiki.github.com/jkp/soaplib) as soap server and suds (https://fedorahosted.org/suds/) as soap client. My target is to create soap services in python that can be consumed by several clients (java, etc). I tried the HelloWorld example from soaplib (http://trac.optio.webfactional.com/wiki/HelloWorld). It works well when the client is also using soaplib. Then, I tried to use suds as client consuming the HelloWorld services and it fail. -Why this is happening? Does soaplib server has problems to consumed by different clients? Here the code for the server: from soaplib.wsgi_soap import SimpleWSGISoapApp from soaplib.service import soapmethod from soaplib.serializers.primitive import String, Integer, Arraycode class HelloWorldService(SimpleWSGISoapApp): @soapmethod(String,Integer,_returns=Array(String)) def say_hello(self,name,times): results = [] for i in range(0,times): results.append('Hello, %s'%name) return results if __name__=='__main__': from cherrypy.wsgiserver import CherryPyWSGIServer #from cherrypy._cpwsgiserver import CherryPyWSGIServer # this example uses CherryPy2.2, use cherrypy.wsgiserver.CherryPyWSGIServer for CherryPy 3.0 server = CherryPyWSGIServer(('localhost',7789),HelloWorldService()) server.start() This is the soaplib client: from soaplib.client import make_service_client from SoapServerTest_1 import HelloWorldService client = make_service_client('http://localhost:7789/',HelloWorldService()) print client.say_hello("Dave",5) Results: >>> ['Hello, Dave', 'Hello, Dave', 'Hello, Dave', 'Hello, Dave', 'Hello, Dave'] This is the suds client: from suds.client import Client url = 'http://localhost:7789/HelloWordService?wsdl' client1 = Client(url) client1.service.say_hello("Dave",5) Results: >>> Unhandled exception while debugging... • SetWindowLong in CustomDraw causes unhandled exception

    - by neeul
    Hello, I am making some changes to a CSliderCtrl using the Custom Draw, the control is to be used in a dialog. Here is the structure: In my MessageMap I have : ON_NOTIFY_REFLECT_EX(NM_CUSTOMDRAW, OnNMCustomdraw) The OnNMCustomdraw method looks like the following: BOOL CCustomSliderCtrl::OnNMCustomdraw(NMHDR *pNMHDR, LRESULT *pResult) { *pResult = CDRF_DODEFAULT; LPNMCUSTOMDRAW pNMCD = reinterpret_cast<LPNMCUSTOMDRAW>(pNMHDR); switch(pNMCD->dwDrawStage) { case CDDS_PREPAINT: { //Dialogs don't receive CDRF_NOTIFYITEMDRAW notifcations by returning it as part of pResult, we must //use the following so we ensure we receive the msg SetWindowLong(pNMHDR->hwndFrom, DWL_MSGRESULT, CDRF_NOTIFYITEMDRAW); return TRUE; } case CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT: if(pNMCD->dwItemSpec == TBCD_CHANNEL) { ...SNIP... SetWindowLong(pNMHDR->hwndFrom, DWL_MSGRESULT, CDRF_SKIPDEFAULT); return TRUE; } } return FALSE; } Reading around I learnt that you had to use SetWindowLong to set the return value for the custom draw, otherwise your method will not always receive the CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT message. However, when using SetWindowLong my application will never receive the CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT and so my slider just looks like a standard slider. The application crashes when any sort of interaction takes place upon the slider, such as hovering over it or minimizing and maximizing the dialog. I snipped the TBCD_CHANNEL code as it is never reached. When running in debug mode, it crashes at the end of the AfxUnlockGlobals method, in afxcrit.cpp. Here is a stack trace: Update: Since adding debug symbols, the crash seems to be picked up at CWnd::DefWindowProc mwthod. comctl32.dll!_TrackBarWndProc@16() + 0x551 bytes user32.dll!_InternalCallWinProc@20() + 0x28 bytes user32.dll!_UserCallWinProcCheckWow@32() + 0xb7 bytes user32.dll!_CallWindowProcAorW@24() + 0x51 bytes user32.dll!_CallWindowProcW@20() + 0x1b bytes mfc90ud.dll!CWnd::DefWindowProcW(unsigned int nMsg=15, unsigned int wParam=0, long lParam=0) Line 1043 + 0x20 bytes C++ mfc90ud.dll!CWnd::WindowProc(unsigned int message=15, unsigned int wParam=0, long lParam=0) Line 1756 + 0x1c bytes C++ mfc90ud.dll!AfxCallWndProc(CWnd * pWnd=0x0012fdbc, HWND__ * hWnd=0x000308fe, unsigned int nMsg=15, unsigned int wParam=0, long lParam=0) Line 240 + 0x1c bytes C++ mfc90ud.dll!AfxWndProc(HWND__ * hWnd=0x000308fe, unsigned int nMsg=15, unsigned int wParam=0, long lParam=0) Line 403 C++ mfc90ud.dll!AfxWndProcBase(HWND__ * hWnd=0x000308fe, unsigned int nMsg=15, unsigned int wParam=0, long lParam=0) Line 441 + 0x15 bytes C++ user32.dll!_InternalCallWinProc@20() + 0x28 bytes user32.dll!_UserCallWinProcCheckWow@32() + 0xb7 bytes user32.dll!_DispatchClientMessage@20() + 0x4d bytes user32.dll!___fnDWORD@4() + 0x24 bytes ntdll.dll!_KiUserCallbackDispatcher@12() + 0x13 bytes user32.dll!_NtUserDispatchMessage@4() + 0xc bytes user32.dll!_DispatchMessageW@4() + 0xf bytes mfc90ud.dll!AfxInternalPumpMessage() Line 183 C++ mfc90ud.dll!CWinThread::PumpMessage() Line 900 C++ mfc90ud.dll!AfxPumpMessage() Line 190 + 0xd bytes C++ mfc90ud.dll!CWnd::RunModalLoop(unsigned long dwFlags=4) Line 4386 + 0x5 bytes C++ mfc90ud.dll!CDialog::DoModal() Line 584 + 0xc bytes C++ SetSelection.exe!CSetSelectionApp::InitInstance() Line 64 + 0xb bytes C++ mfc90ud.dll!AfxWinMain(HINSTANCE__ * hInstance=0x00400000, HINSTANCE__ * hPrevInstance=0x00000000, wchar_t * lpCmdLine=0x00020a84, int nCmdShow=1) Line 37 + 0xd bytes C++ SetSelection.exe!wWinMain(HINSTANCE__ * hInstance=0x00400000, HINSTANCE__ * hPrevInstance=0x00000000, wchar_t * lpCmdLine=0x00020a84, int nCmdShow=1) Line 34 C++ SetSelection.exe!__tmainCRTStartup() Line 578 + 0x35 bytes C SetSelection.exe!wWinMainCRTStartup() Line 403 C kernel32.dll!_BaseProcessStart@4() + 0x23 bytes So, does anyone have any insight into this matter?   • .net framework sdk version(csc.exe) using vcbuild.exe on the command line.

    - by r9r9r9
I create a c# class library project named: testVcBuild, then use vcbuild.exe to build the project in the command line like: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\vcpackages>vcbuild testVcBuild.csproj "Debug|Win32" the out put shows: Microsoft (R) Visual C++ Project Builder - Command Line Version 9.00.21022 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Microsoft (R) Build Engine Version 2.0.50727.4927 [Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727.4927] Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2005. All rights reserved. I found that the vcbuild.exe always call the "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Csc.exe /noconfig .." the problem is how can I change the Framework version to v3.5? I found my project works fine with the v3.5 but it's broken in the v2.0.50727. I try to use msbuild.exe instead of vcbuild.exe, everything goes well, I just don't understand how can I make it with the vcbuild.exe? win7+vs2005+vs2008 installed.

  • Can I get command line arguments of other processes from .NET/C#?

    - by Jonathan Schuster
I have a project where I have multiple instances of an app running, each of which was started with different command line arguments. I'd like to have a way to click a button from one of those instances which then shuts down all of the instances and starts them back up again with the same command line arguments. I can get the processes themselves easily enough through Process.GetProcessesByName(), but whenever I do, the StartInfo.Arguments property is always an empty string. It looks like maybe that property is only valid before starting a process. This question had some suggestions, but they're all in native code, and I'd like to do this directly from .NET. Any suggestions?

I am on MAC OS X 10.5.5. I installed Calibre, a tool for converting e-book files from one format to another. It has a GUI as well as command line tools. I am trying to run the command line tool "any2mobi" to convert HTML files to MOBI pocket format or Kindle AZW format, with a TOC. I get the error "-bash: any2mobi: command not found". Clearly, any2mobi is not in my path. Where is it? I tried searching but came up empty. I installed version 0.6.0b6 of Calibre.

But it isn't reported when I use vbeinfo inside grub: grub> vbeinfo VBE info: version: 3.0 OEM software rev: 1.0 total memory: 8128 KiB List of compatible video modes: Legend: P=Packed pixel, D=Direct color, mask/pos=R/G/B/reserved 0x112: 640 x 480 x 32 Direct, mask: 8/8/8/8 pos: 16/8/0/24 0x114: 800 x 600 x 16 Direct, mask: 5/6/5/0 pos: 11/5/0/0 0x115: 800 x 600 x 32 Direct, mask: 8/8/8/8 pos: 16/8/0/24 0x101: 640 x 480 x 8 Packed 0x103: 800 x 600 x 8 Packed 0x111: 640 x 480 x 16 Direct, mask: 5/6/5/0 pos: 11/5/0/0 Configured VBE mode (vbe_mode) = ox101 grub> Relevant parts of sudo lspci -v: ... ... 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
