  I am relatively new to website design and specifically working in ASP.NET, i am using CSS to style my site, but when i use ASP.NET Controls like GridView, Navigation controls, etc ... they are messed up by the style sheets, and you can't see that until you run the website, because the controls are translated to HTML and so affected by CSS in a way that you can't predict, how to solve this, and is there a better way to layout and desgin sites in ASP.NET.

  We have Youtube videos on a site and want to detect if it is likely that they will not be able to view them due to (mostly likely) company policy or otherwise. We have two sites: 1) Flex / Flash 2) HTML I think with Flex I can attempt to download http://youtube.com/crossdomain.xml and if it is valid XML assume the site is available But with HTML I dont know how to do it. I cant even think of a 'nice hack'

Is there a way to override the GAC with a DLL in the /bin folder to test out new features before they get released?

I can get my servlets from tomcat's examples, and also my own servlets running from localhost. http://localhost/examples/servlets/ works fine for the supplied tomcat examples. How do i add servlets to existing web sites? I've tried adding a virtual directory to my website, the same way i did for the Default Website, but i get 404 errors thanks

  I'd like to have a version control server (preferably SVN) accessible on the internet without having to host my own (linux) server. Setting up a home server ala DynDNS is not really an option. Can you have non-public (maybe single-user) projects on one of the OSS project hosting sites? Or are there alternatives? I had a look at Google Code. But that looked very public to me. Now I keep getting : The name 'NoPanel' does not exist in the current context Errors (where no panel is just about any control in the .aspx file) also I got several errors trying to deploy pages and it would not send the .cs file over ...or pdfs in the Content directory (even though I had copy always set)... This is happening on a pair of mixed ASP.NET MVC and Webforms sites.

  Why does many sites (youtube is good example) generate string of random number and letter instead of using for example the row id? usually its something likes this bla?v=wli4l73Chc0 instead of like bla?id=83934 Is it just to keep it short if you have many rows?
