    - by user300371
I am new to programming and only know html, css,PHP and would like to start learning another new language. I am focused on web development and would just like to get your opinion on ASP.net and python. Which language would serve me best in making sites as to general programming? ASP.NET or django python? I know Python is "easy to learn" and similar to PHP, but ASP.net is also a good language.

  • Is defragging tough on replication?

    - by Jim
I've been told that defragging causes the log to grow tremendously. Is this true? If so, is there something better to do than defragging that will not impact the log as much? We are running SQL Server 2005 replicating between 2 sites.

  • sharepoint custom aspx page with database connection

    - by Megini
hi there i have created a custom aspx page whithin my sharepoint site with a sql server connection to a database on that server to select data when i view the page it works but when another user tries to view it it gives the following error : Server Error in '/' Application. Login failed for user 'GRINCOR\GuguK'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'GRINCOR\GuguK'. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL: Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example: <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" % or: 2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application: Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode. Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. - by cf_PhillipSenn
I'm learning jQuery-UI, and would like to put together a good looking page, so I'm looking at base2.css from the themeroller site. Q: Is there anything anyone can tell me about base2.css? - by Jon Erickson
I'm sort of thinking out loud here, so let me know if I need to clarify... on ajax heavy sites, when using JsonResult to pass information back to the client, what techniques, patterns, best practices are being used to pass ModelState validation errors back to the client? I am using xVal and castle validation on my view models, is there some sort of standard to get jquery validate to display errors coming from ajax responses?

  • SVG Parser in Javascript

    - by jsight
I believe that at one point, I saw a TinySVG implementation that worked in the browser, using the canvas element as the backend. I found a few sites that appeared to indicate it was at http://fuchsia-design.com/CanvaSVG/, however, that site appears to no longer exist. Is this project (or a similar one) still on the web anywhere?

  • Grails - Link checking as part of a continuous integration.

    - by Reverend Gonzo
So, we have a grails app set up with a Hudson CI build process. We're running unit tests, integration tests, and about to set up Selenium for some functional tests as well. However, are there any good ways of fully testing a sites links to make sure nothing has broken in a release. I know there's link checkers in general, but I'd like to have it be a part of the build process, so a build outright fails if something isn't right.
