  • file handling in vb.net

    - by Indranil Mutsuddy
Hello there I have developed an application in vb.net2008 and database sqlserver. Now i want to ignore the database(it has 1 table as customer(name, password, hour, minute)) as i dont want my client to install sqlserver separately or other overheads. I am planning to do the whole using file handling in vb.net(manipulating the data in files itself eg change username, password etc). As I am new i dont actually know the proper way and of course need assistance. Kindly help out. Regards Indranil

  • Any experience with CryptoObfuscator or CryptoLicensing?

    - by anon2009
Hi, I'm on the market for a good (and cheap) .Net obfuscator. I'm developing a .Net windows forms application. I evaluated IntelliLock and SmartAssebly so far. I quit the first on lack of support (I sent two emails with no response, no support site, etc). SmartAssebly looks pretty good but is too rich for my blood. Has anyone used CryptoObfuscator? Any good or bad experiences? Once, I have you here, what about CryptoLicensing? Thanks

  • C# and Winforms TextBox control: How do I get the text change?

    - by Billy ONeal
I have an event handler for the TextBox.TextChanged event on a form of mine. In order to support undo, I'd like to figure out exactly what has changed in the TextBox, so that I can undo the change if the user asks for it. (I know the builtin textbox supports undo, but I'd like to have a single undo stack for the whole application) Is there a reasonable way to do that? If not, is there a better way of supporting such an undo feature?

  • How to set clickable and highlightable a ViewStub?

    - by Pentium10
I have ViewStubs in my layout. If I set clickable and implement the OnClickListener this does work only on the root of the element. But the layout holds parent elements, and when I click on those the click is not recognized. How do I make a full row/view of ViewStub as whole to be clickable and highlightable like a ListView elements? Also what do I have to add to get that orange highlight?

  • cocoa - converting a double to string

    - by Mike
I have a double number and I would like to convert it to string. The number is, for example, something like 24.043333332154465777... but if I convert it to string using something like NSString *myString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%f", myDouble]; The string is just 24.043333 how do I get a full string the corresponds to the whole double number? What other methods do I have to convert this?

  • NHibernate query CreateCriteria

    - by Jacob
Is it possible to chose what columns I want in return from Session.CreateCriteria() ? egz.: var x = session.CreateCriteria(); x.CreateAlias("EmployeePosition", "employeePosition"); x.Add(Restrictions.Eq("employeePosition.Name", "Developer")); and is there a way to add something like "select LastName" to avoid downloading the whole row.

  • How to integrate Guice 2 into Wicket?

    - by deamon
I want to use Guice 2 with Wicket 1.4. There is a "wicket-guice" package, which uses Guice 1. Can someone give me an example how to configure Wicket to use Guice 2 for injection (with Maven). As you can see blow, I've found a solution, but I wonder, if it would be better to use Guice Servlets and register the whole Wicket Application as a ServletFilter with Guice. But I think this would conflict with wickets object creation strategy.

  • What is needed to get Delphi back on top?

    - by Jim McKeeth
Delphi 2009 is due in the next couple months, which is its 12th release since Turbo Pascal became Delphi in 1995. Despite continued innovation it has not returned to its level of popularity before the Inprise fiasco. Many developers with Delphi backgrounds are moving to C# and many Delphi legacy applications are being rewritten in C#, despite the fact Delphi supports .NET and in many cases the existing application could be ported without rewriting. Is it just a losing battle to compete against Microsoft's tools on their platform? Is there something Code Gear / Delphi can do now that they are under new management to regain market share? What can enthusiasts do to help? Why do you do Delphi programming? or Why are you not doing Delphi programming?

  • How would you handle making an array or list that would have more entries than the standard implemen

    - by faceless1_14
I am trying to create an array or list that could handle in theory, given adequate hardware and such, as many as 100^100 BigInteger entries. The problem with using an array or standard list is that they can only hold Integer.MAX_VALUE number of entries. How would you work around this limitations? A whole new class/interface? A wrapper for list? another data type entirely?

  • qt/wxwidgets third party components?

    - by tkd
I'm used to working in a Delphi and C# environment which seem to have a rich set of third party components available. I'm currently wanting to do cross-platform programming in C++ using either qt or wxwidgets. Is there a large market for third party components? I was looking at sourceforge and that doesn't seem to show much that is useful (how the hell do you find out what components or features are in a project without downloading the source?). I'm thinking carousel/coverflow components, rich datagrids (like the sort DevExpress provide). Or is this, write your own territory?

  • Good introductory statistics book?

    - by lmsasu
Hello, what is a good introductory statistics book you can recommend? if there is a whole sequence of books that should be read, please do not hesitate to mention it. Books with applications are also welcome. I am aware that a single search on Amazon (or any other book seller) will provide me tons of titles, but some of them are avoidable... About my background/knowledge: good knowledge of mathematics and probability theory, but almost null on statistics.

  • Alternatives to Google Earth for sat image

    - by Martin Beckett
I've been asked to add Google Earth images to a desktop app (civil engineering modelling app) I was under the impression that Google's license didn't allow you to do this. Are there any other easily accessible, and similarly high resolution, image sources anyone can recommend (Blue Marble, terraserver) ? As a bonus, any library that lets me use coordinates in a range of local map datums and convert them to Lat/Long without me having to incorporate the whole of CGAL?

  • From Monorail to ASP.Net MVC

    - by Cheekysoft
The last time I took on a non-trivial .Net/C# application I used Castle Monorail and, on the whole, enjoyed the experience. Early-access/preview releases of .Net MVC were not yet available. Many "Microsoft shops" will now find the "official" solution more appealing. Has anyone gone from Monorail to .Net MVC. How did you find the switch? What are the biggest differences, presently?
