  • How to make easily PDF version of a web?

    - by MartyIX
I'm trying to make an offline version of a web and I'm looking for a tool that would do the task automatically for the whole web (circa 1000 pages of HTML + images). Is there anything like that and free? I know it is quite challenge for a program but maybe I'll be lucky :). Thanks!

  • Timeline graph - how to handle "time gaps"?

    - by ebae
I've been working with Google chart API and annotated timeline. Drawing graphs is fine. I have no problem. However, I need to draw a timeline graph for share prices. And as you may know, share prices are meaningful only between certain times (e.g. from 10AM to 4PM, when the market opens and closes). How do I change the Google timeline graph so that on X-Axis, the range is from 10AM-4PM? Right now, it just draws a long constant line between 4PM till 10AM next day before prices start to move again. Man, I hope that makes sens. (Google finance chart seems to do it). Thank you SO much for whoever can answer. You are a CHAMPION!

  • How can I show a "selection highlighting"-rectangle around a column of a Silverlight Grid?

    - by carlmon
I have a feature matrix implemented with Silverlight's Grid where users need to select a product. How can I indicate selection with a rectangle around the whole selected column? It is easy to put a CheckBox at the bottom of each product's column, but that is too dull. I would have preffered to use SL Toolkit's DataGrid (with built-in row selection), but it cannot be orientated vertically for a feature matrix... Thanks, Carl

  • How do people charge friends for development projects?

    - by Crashalot
A friend has begged our consulting firm several times to build an iPhone app. We are reluctant to jeopardize the friendship and charge market rates. At the same time, we're so busy it would be imprudent not to charge fairly. We tried referring her to other shops, but she doesn't feel comfortable with anyone but us. How do people charge friends? Since I'm asking about fees, I'm also curious to know if people charge on a fixed-price basis or hourly basis? Thanks!

  • Javascript running in facebox window

    - by Rudiger
I'm modifying a website to have a pop up box appear when a user rates something prompting the user to login. Unfortunately the login process is something that I don't control and it uses a whole heap of javascript and redirects to do it and it seems that the javascript is failing. Can javascript run in the modal box or is there a way around this?

  • Intersection of Inner Polygons of MKPolygon being colored - iOS

    - by Josh Glick
I am trying to create a fog of war style map where areas I have visited are uncovered and the rest of the map is "hidden". I am using a MKPolygonOverlay that covers the whole map and create inner polygons around all the locations I have visited. However in areas where these inner polygons overlap, that portion of the overlay is still being drawn. As a new user I can't post pictures but here is a link to the image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13815916/Screen%20Shot%202012-06-29%20at%204.40.20%20AM.png

  • Sprite Fallback

    - by MontyBongo
I have a number of images on a page contained within a single sprite image, these images must be contained within the single sprite due to other requirements of the site. Whilst this is working fine in most browsers I have an issue on Opera Mini where it is not rendering the sprite at all and just displaying the whole image. Is there any CSS that can be used to provide a text alternative when the browser is unable to render the sprite?

  • Is it the right time to get a Master's degree?

    - by harshit
I'm currently a software engineer in India and have been working for 3,5 years. Before recession started I decided to study further and planned for a Master of Science degree in computer science in Fall09, since I want to explore more of this field. I have got an admission in Univ of Texas @ Dallas. I am confused about whether I should go for studying at the time of recession or not and how the market will be once I graduate in 2011 Jan. Any views will be appreciated.

  • How to create a backpropagation neural network in neurondonet?

    - by Suraj Prakash
I am doing stock market prediction using ANNs in c#.net. I am using NeuronDotNet for the neural part. I have to give eight inputs to the network, with a hidden layer consisting 8 nodes and a single node output layer. Can anybody please give me some coding ideas for this???? This project was not a AI course assignment, but my major project. I have studied about the stocks and found various factors that affected the future value of stock of a company. Now I have to use these factors as input to the neural network. I am not getting into how to implement these factors in the neural network. I have just decided to use those eight factors as eight nodes in the input layer but things are going complex. My concern is to use these factors as input and train the neural network for output as next day's stock value. What major things should I have to care about??

  • Restarting ColdFusion mail queue

    - by Ben Doom
We are currently experiencing intermittent mail queue stoppages. I'm seeking diagnostic help in another area. In the meantime, is there a way to restart the CF mail queue without restarting the service as a whole? CF8 standard Win2k3 Solution: We are now checking the age of the oldest file in the mail queue. When it exceeds a set age (currently 30 min) the mail queue is restarted.

  • Loading a Reusable UITableViewCell from a Nib

    - by Greg Martin
I am able to design custom UITableViewCells and load them just fine using the technique described in the thread found at http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=545061. However, using that method no longer allows you to init the cell with a reuseIdentifier which means you have to create whole new instances of each cell at every call. Has anyone figured out a good way to still cache particular cell types for reuses, but still be able to design them in Interface Builder?

  • Will Delphi be there in future ?

    - by devdude
Yes, there is a version 2009. I know Delphi has a big community since years (10 plus)and I believe you could create native windows exe before Visual Basic got to speed (with all its dll's nighmare). But is it future-proof ? Is there a need or market for a non-crossplatform native all-in-one executable ? Will Embarcardero ex Codegear ex Borland continue to push it ? Why is it so expensive ? Who (non company) can afford it, in order to learn it ?

  • Best/Most Comprehensive API for Stocks/Financial Data

    - by Wilco
What is the most recommended free/public API for accessing financial market stats and stock quotes (preferrably real-time quotes)? I'm not too picky about how it's exposed (SOAP, REST, some proprietary XML setup, etc.), as long as it's got some decent documentation. I'm planning to build a simple web dashboard in PHP with some basic data (basically a quick-n-dirty homepage), but may want to grow it into a full blown web app eventually. Any thoughts? As I find some, I'll post a list here (feel free to comment if you've used any of them before): Free opentick (soprano) Not Free XigniteRealTime

  • Logging raw HTTP request/response in ASP.NET MVC & IIS7

    - by Greg Beech
I'm writing a web service (using ASP.NET MVC) and for support purposes we'd like to be able to log the requests and response in as close as possible to the raw, on-the-wire format (i.e including HTTP method, path, all headers, and the body) into a database. What I'm not sure of is how to get hold of this data in the least 'mangled' way. I can re-constitute what I believe the request looks like by inspecting all the properties of the HttpRequest object and building a string from them (and similarly for the response) but I'd really like to get hold of the actual request/response data that's sent on the wire. I'm happy to use any interception mechanism such as filters, modules, etc. and the solution can be specific to IIS7. However, I'd prefer to keep it in managed code only. Any recommendations? Edit: I note that HttpRequest has a SaveAs method which can save the request to disk but this reconstructs the request from the internal state using a load of internal helper methods that cannot be accessed publicly (quite why this doesn't allow saving to a user-provided stream I don't know). So it's starting to look like I'll have to do my best to reconstruct the request/response text from the objects... groan. Edit 2: Please note that I said the whole request including method, path, headers etc. The current responses only look at the body streams which does not include this information. Edit 3: Does nobody read questions around here? Five answers so far and yet not one even hints at a way to get the whole raw on-the-wire request. Yes, I know I can capture the output streams and the headers and the URL and all that stuff from the request object. I already said that in the question, see: I can re-constitute what I believe the request looks like by inspecting all the properties of the HttpRequest object and building a string from them (and similarly for the response) but I'd really like to get hold of the actual request/response data that's sent on the wire. If you know the complete raw data (including headers, url, http method, etc.) simply cannot be retrieved then that would be useful to know. Similarly if you know how to get it all in the raw format (yes, I still mean including headers, url, http method, etc.) without having to reconstruct it, which is what I asked, then that would be very useful. But telling me that I can reconstruct it from the HttpRequest/HttpResponse objects is not useful. I know that. I already said it. Please note: Before anybody starts saying this is a bad idea, or will limit scalability, etc., we'll also be implementing throttling, sequential delivery, and anti-replay mechanisms in a distributed environment, so database logging is required anyway. I'm not looking for a discussion of whether this is a good idea, I'm looking for how it can be done.

  • A couple questions using fwrite/fread with data structures

    - by Nazgulled
Hi, I'm using fwrite() and fread() for the first time to write some data structures to disk and I have a couple of questions about best practices and proper ways of doing things. What I'm writing to disk (so I can later read it back) is all user profiles inserted in a Graph structure. Each graph vertex is of the following type: typedef struct sUserProfile { char name[NAME_SZ]; char address[ADDRESS_SZ]; int socialNumber; char password[PASSWORD_SZ]; HashTable *mailbox; short msgCount; } UserProfile; And this is how I'm currently writing all the profiles to disk: void ioWriteNetworkState(SocialNetwork *social) { Vertex *currPtr = social->usersNetwork->vertices; UserProfile *user; FILE *fp = fopen("save/profiles.dat", "w"); if(!fp) { perror("fopen"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } fwrite(&(social->usersCount), sizeof(int), 1, fp); while(currPtr) { user = (UserProfile*)currPtr->value; fwrite(&(user->socialNumber), sizeof(int), 1, fp); fwrite(user->name, sizeof(char)*strlen(user->name), 1, fp); fwrite(user->address, sizeof(char)*strlen(user->address), 1, fp); fwrite(user->password, sizeof(char)*strlen(user->password), 1, fp); fwrite(&(user->msgCount), sizeof(short), 1, fp); break; currPtr = currPtr->next; } fclose(fp); } Notes: The first fwrite() you see will write the total user count in the graph so I know how much data I need to read back. The break is there for testing purposes. There's thousands of users and I'm still experimenting with the code. My questions: After reading this I decided to use fwrite() on each element instead of writing the whole structure. I also avoid writing the pointer to to the mailbox as I don't need to save that pointer. So, is this the way to go? Multiple fwrite()'s instead of a global one for the whole structure? Isn't that slower? How do I read back this content? I know I have to use fread() but I don't know the size of the strings, cause I used strlen() to write them. I could write the output of strlen() before writing the string, but is there any better way without extra writes?

  • Open source project home page

    - by Oskar Kjellin
I've created a software that I want to be able to market. I'd like to be able to post it on forums etc and for that I need a home page. Is there any open source C# project home pages that you can use? The functionality I'm looking for is like adding new versions (perhaps a version control from the software), downloading and user guides. So what I want is pretty basic: I want to be able to upload and let the users download. I've written this on my own as well but I guess that if there are open source projects that have done this they're probably better. This can't be such a rare problem so please lead me to some resources so that I can create my page and publish my software! :)
