  • Access Google Apps Global Address List from Thunderbird

    We're considering using Google Apps as groupware, with our Mac and Linux users (and likely a few of the Windows users as well) accessing mail and calendar using Thunderbird with Lightning. We seem to have worked out most features, but have not found a way to access Global Address List. Is there a way to sync the Global Address List to Thunderbird? Update: The Zindus addon as suggested by @superuser, does not have support for Global Address List from Google Apps (it does however support GAL from a Zimbra server)

    Hello all; I use TweaksLogon to change the logon wallpaper on my Win7x64 Ultimate system. However if I change my windows theme, it resets the logon wallpaper back to the default. Is there any way this can be prevented so that it will keep my chosen logon wall when changing the windows theme?     Tunneling data over ssh is pretty straight-forward: ssh -D9999 [email protected] sets up port 9999 on your localhost as a tunnel to foreignhost.com, but I have more specific need: I am working locally on localhost host1 is accessible to localhost host2 only accepts connections from host1 I need to create a tunnel from localhost to host2 Effectively I want to create a "multi-hop" ssh tunnel. How can I do this? Ideally, I'd like to do this without needing to be superuser on any of the machines.

    When I try to use Curl on windows, to retrieve an https url, I get the dreaded "connection error (60)." The exact error message is: curl: (60) SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK.   • How to encrypt dual boot windows 7 and xp (bitlocker, truecrypt combo?) on sdd (recommended?)

    I would like to setup a dual boot Windows 7 and Windows XP laptop/notebook computer where each operation system's partition is fully encrypted. I would like to do this on a SSD - a 128Gb Crucial M4. My research Dual boot of truecrypt encrypted OSs on one drive (not possible - in Truecript 7.x at time of writing) This cannot be done on a standard Truecrypt setup - it will only support encrypting one of the operating systems. I have tried this and also read about it here on superuser.com However, I did see a solution here that uses grub4dos as the initial bootloader to chain to separate truecrypt encrypted OSs, in my case Windows 7 and Windows XP: http://yyzyyz.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/truecrypt-how-to-encrypt-multiple.html I am not going to consider this solution as it relies upon some custom code for use in the bootloader that is provided by the author. I would prefer a solution that can be fully understood so that I can be sure that there is nothing undesirable occuring (i.e. malware or just simply bugs in the code). I would like to believe such a solution doesn't have those risks but I can't be sure. BitLocker and Truecrypt combination - possible solution? So I am now considering a combination of encryption programs: I now aim to encrypt Windows XP with Truecrypt and Windows 7 with BitLocker. Assuming Truecrypt bootloader can boot into non-Truecrypt OSs (e.g. via hitting Escape to go to another menu), then this solution may be viable. SSDs and Encryption (use fastest possible spinning hard disk instead (?)) I read on various superuser.com posts and elsewhere that current SSDs are not suited to whole drive encryption for various reasons: impact of performance algorithms that give SSDs advantage over spinning harddisks. Algorithms used in compression of data for example. Wear on the SSD, shortening its life Security issues whereby data is repeated, as indicated in some Truecrypt documentation So I am now considering not using SSD. But with the aim to have the fastest drive possible, I am considering using the Western Digital Scorpion black 2.5" 7200rpm harddisk as this appears to be top rated among spinning platter-based harddrives (don't work for Western Digital). Summary So to achieve whole drive encrypted dual boot Windows 7 and Windows XP with minimal performance impact I intend to use a combination of Truecrypt and Bitlocker on a top-rated conventional spinning platter-based harddisk. Questions Will my summary: achieve whole disk encryption of the dual-boot Windows XP, Windows 7? OR an you suggest a simpler solution, including one that only requires only Truecrypt (BitLocker not available on XP). Or another encryption tool, including paid-for? provide the highest performance. Am I correct to avoid using SDD with encryption for the reasons I discovered? Are the concerns about SSDs and encryption still very real (some articles I read go back to 2010) Thanks for your input!

Now when I am restarting, I met a message at start up that "BootMGR is compressed, Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" Its been 2 days I am searching every where to solve the problem, but all I found only for Vista and windows 7 only.   • Results copied from SSMS splitting across columns when pasted into Excel

    SSMS 2008 - Excel 2003 This isn't happening all the time, but sometimes when I 'copy with headers' from sql server management studio, the results in Excel look as though I've used the 'text to columns' wizard with 'spaces' and 'brackets' as delimiters, meaning that the results become raggedly distributed across columns making them useless I've looked in the 'grid output' query options but can't see anything which may be causing the issue (not sure if this should be on superuser?)

    I recently noticed in the logs of my home router that it relatively regularly lists the following entry: [admin login failure] from source 192.168.0.160, Monday, June 20,2011 18:13:25 192.168.0.160 is the internal address of my home server, running Windows Home Server 2011. Is there anyway I can find out what specifically is trying to login to the router? Or is there some explanation for this behaviour? (not sure if this belongs here or on superuser...)

    I tried following the procedure outlined in this previous answer and it doesn't work: http://superuser.com/a/5079/2366 Specifically I'm trying to add Lucida Sans Typewriter Regular to the choices of Consolas and Lucida Console that the Cmd window currently allows. Lucida Console is in registry key "0" and Consolas is in registry key "00", so I'm adding key "000" but it's not affecting the available choices in the Font tab under Properties, even after rebooting the system. P.S. I also tried adding Courier New to the choices and it shows up, but appears to select Italic instead.
